Claire and Sam announce a brief hiatus until June 16th, sharing podcast recommendations and answering listener questions about the TrueFans platform to tide listeners over during the break.

• Claire recommends "Conning the Con" by Sarah Ferris, a true crime podcast about a family turning the tables on a con man

• Sam suggests "The Snap," featuring two Nashville artists navigating Bitcoin and value for value to monetize their music

• Sam explains how to add TrueFans to your phone's home screen using the browser's "share" function

• We reiterate that streaming sats to unclaimed shows is worthwhile as funds are held until creators claim their profiles

• We hear what our listeners have been telling us this week

• As usual we invite independent podcasters to be featured on the show by sending comments through TrueFans.

Claire Waite Brown (00:06):
Welcome to Creators from True Fans.
I'm independent podcaster,Claire Waite Brown, and I'm Sam
Sethi, the CEO of True Fans.
Each episode, we'll chat withan independent creator, whether
a podcaster or musician, abouttheir creative experiences.

Sam Sethi (00:23):
And each week we'll take questions from independent
creators about features withinTrueFans.
To help them.

Claire Waite Brown (00:29):
We'll get interactive and see what our
listeners have been saying inthe comments and super comments.

Sam Sethi (00:35):
And we may even consider something happening in
the wider world and itsrelevance to independent podcast
creators.
Well hello.
Life's getting a little bitbusy at the moment, isn't it?
And so what we've decided to dois take a little hiatus.
We're only in episode two, butrather than try and rush it, I
think it's best that we take alittle pause and we'll be back

(00:59):
on June, the 16th.

Claire Waite Brown (01:00):
We will indeed, sam.
I just want to say in thebackground, I have been
interviewing some podcastcreators and learning more about
their shows, so I'm reallylooking forward to sharing those
in the future.
But in the meantime we had alittle chat, sam and I, about a
couple of podcasts that werecommend, so I'm going to leave
you with those and do staylistening after those

(01:23):
recommendations when Sam and Iwill be answering one of our
listeners' questions and readingout our comments and super
comments.
I would love people to have alisten to Conning the Con by
Sarah Ferris.
I was introduced to this showwhen she first made it and it
was her first show and I wasjust so impressed with her

(01:47):
production value and the wholeway she arranged it.
Also, the story itself isreally interesting because it's
about her sister who is in NewZealand and Sarah's in the UK.
But the family realized thatthe sister, emma, was becoming
victim to a con man.
But they realised just in timeand the story is about how they

(02:10):
turn that situation around.
It's not a victim-y type truecrime podcast.
It's a lifting up true crimepodcast, turning the tables.
So that's Conning the Con bySarah Ferris.

Sam Sethi (02:24):
Very good.
I might have to have a listento that one.
Mine is called The Snap.
It's by two ladies calledAinsley and Katie.
The Snap is a podcast that flipsthe script on the music
industry and digital culture.
It's hosted by twonational-based artists
navigating the intersection ofBitcoin, nostra and Value for
Value.
So it's basically about twofemale artists singing artists

(02:48):
who have got their way into theworld of micropayments and
Bitcoin and how they areactually using it to promote
their music and get paid by fansdirectly.
And it's a great show.
They talk about it from anovice type way of talking about
it, not a technical way, andthey talk about it from an

(03:10):
artist's point of view as well.
They'll tell you what worked,what didn't work, how they're
using it for both albums andsingles that they're putting out
, but also how they're using itfor live shows as well.
Ainsley, for example, AinsleyCostello did two live shows in
Nashville.
I think she made a million satson each show, or even more, if
I remember, on the first one.

(03:30):
So, again, highly recommendlistening to the Snap.

Claire Waite Brown (03:35):
Amazing.
I love when podcasts focus ontech, but on the human, usable
elements of the tech.
So yeah, I'll have a listen tothat one, sam.
Thank you.

Sam Sethi (04:01):
Now, Claire, have we had any questions in this week?

Claire Waite Brown (04:04):
Yes, we have , and people have obviously been
paying attention.
And this question relates tosomething we talked about last
week, which was the fact thatTrueFans, as yet, is not a
native app, so you cannot findit in any app stores, the app

(04:28):
stores.
So somebody has asked, quiterightly, how can I add TrueFans
to my phone's home screen?
So this is going to make iteasier than, obviously, having
to click on Google and go totruefansfm.
Is that something that can bedone?

Sam Sethi (04:35):
Yes, it can.
What you do is you go to yourbrowser on your mobile and you
go to share, and then you scrolldown a little bit, click on add
to home screen and then you canhave an icon for TrueFans on
your phone and then, when youclick on it, it acts and behaves
exactly like an app would.
But of course we don't, as yourightly said, claire, yet have

(05:00):
the app in the app stores, butthat's coming very, very soon.
It's time for the fan box.
What's in our fan box this week?

Claire Waite Brown (05:09):
We're going to learn something.
But first, the Late BloomerActor sent us a comment on True
Fans and this is in relation towhat we talked about last week.
I asked a very clever questionlast week.
I asked if people haven'tclaimed their show, is it a
waste of my time to stream satsto them?
And you said no, it's not, claire, because we keep their
money for them and when theyclaim their show, that money's

(05:31):
there.
And David John Clark of theLate Bloomer Actor says 'I
stream sats to several of myfavourite shows that aren't
claimed.
I haven't done so yet, but willbe reaching out to them and
telling them I support them viaValue for Value on True Fans and
that they should claim theirshow to collect'.

Sam Sethi (05:52):
Thank you, David.
Yes.

Claire Waite Brown (05:54):
And the lesson for us.
We were talking about bingo, bingo numbers for our SATS
numbers, and you told me that1701 was a Star Trek Indeed, and
we didn't know why.
But our friend Martin Lindeskoghas come and explained it for
us.
So he has given us 1701 SATSThank you, Martin.

(06:15):
And he says 1701 is the IDnumber of the USS Enterprise.
So it's NCC-1701.
And that is the number of thestarship in Star Trek.
I've also had an email.
This is from Fariba.
She has expressed an interestin being one of the podcasts

(06:39):
featured on this show, which Iwill talk about how you can do
that in a moment.
She says I manage On SpecPodcast and we're a storytelling
and investigative documentaryplatform.
We have been long listed forthe One World Press Awards for
best radio and podcasts thisyear for our last season, Lethal

(07:00):
Dissent.
It would be great to befeatured on Creators.
Thank you, Fariba.
I shall add you to our list andSam and I look forward to
having a listen to that show andthat is what we would like.
Anybody, any independentpodcaster out there who would
like to be showcased here onCreators and also on the

(07:21):
homepage on True Fans, All youneed to do is send a comment or
a super comment for this episodein True Fans.
There's a big tab on theepisode page.
It says comments and then ittells you exactly how to write a
comment.

Sam Sethi (07:36):
