In today’s episode, Tola continues walking us through Judges 6, focusing on Gideon’s request for a sign and what it means for modern believers, especially nurses navigating their own obedience journey.
After being called a “mighty man of valor,” Gideon asks the angel of the Lord for confirmation. He wants a sign that this divine encounter is real. Gideon’s fear is honest. His need for assurance is relatable. But what begins as a desire for clarity can become a pattern of hesitation if we are not careful.
Tola unpacks this important distinction. There is a difference between seeking God’s confirmation and becoming dependent on signs for every act of obedience. She shares how a desire for “one more word” or “one more prophecy” can stall your calling. For some, it becomes an addiction to spiritual reassurance that leads to delay, not devotion.
Judges 6:17–21
Gideon asks for a sign, prepares an offering, and witnesses fire from the rock as a response. This moment confirms his encounter with God, but it’s also the beginning of a pattern we must pay attention to.
Be Cautious with Sign-Seeking
Gideon’s request for a sign is understandable, but Tola reminds us that constantly needing a sign before moving forward can delay your obedience. Many people stay stuck, waiting on a “word” or “confirmation,” when God has already spoken.
Addiction to Prophecy
Tola challenges a common trap in faith circles: the habit of running from one prophet or preacher to another, hoping to hear a new word from God. She warns that this dependency can lead to delayed or disobedient lives. You do not need five confirmations to obey God.
Train Yourself to Trust God’s Voice
Tola shares her personal journey of learning to obey God immediately. She explains how the voice of God becomes clearer the more you obey. Delayed obedience often leads to spiritual dullness and uncertainty. Clarity increases with consistent obedience.
When You Obey, the Holy Spirit Speaks More Clearly
One of the most powerful takeaways from this episode is this: the more you obey, the clearer His voice becomes. But if you keep ignoring promptings, they become harder to discern. Tola challenges listeners to make a decision to obey God the first time.
God Doesn’t Always Repeat Himself
If you wait for the conditions to feel perfect or for another prophecy, you may miss the moment. Don’t let your hesitation rob you of God’s timing. Obedience positions you for divine encounters, clarity, and confirmation.
Are you waiting for another sign when God has already spoken?
Have you become dependent on confirmation before taking action?
Is your disobedience making God’s voice harder to recognize?
Are you willing to obey even when it’s uncomfortable or uncertain?
God wants you to trust Him, not just the signs.
