By the time she hit rock bottom, she felt utterly worthless, convinced she didn’t deserve love or life itself. Years of rejection and emotional abuse left her feeling trapped in her own body, burdened by cruel words that echoed like relentless chains.
She felt utterly dependent on her covert narcissist husband despite knowing she had been the backbone of their life together.
Her hypercritical, people-pleasing nature had isolated her, turning her once lively spirit into a ghost. The loneliness in her marriage was suffocating, leading her to seek solace in fantasies that temporarily distracted her from the void but never truly fulfilled her. She often reminisced about a past lover—an unfulfilled, passionate connection that only underscored her present emptiness.
Each memory with this person, wild and vibrant, contrasted so starkly with the cold, loveless reality of her current marriage. Resentment brewed within her, not only for her husband’s neglect but also for her acceptance of this life. Yet amidst the darkness, a whisper of her former fierce self persisted—a reminder that the fire within her was still burning, albeit faintly.
