"The Little Match Girl" is a classic fairy tale written by Hans Christian Andersen. It was first published on December 18, 1845.
The story is about a poor girl trying to sell matches on a cold New Year's Eve. As she lights the matches one by one to keep warm, she sees beautiful visions in the flames. Ultimately, she dies from the cold, but her soul is taken to heaven.
