Meghan (00:05):
Welcome to Fearlessly Female, where two blondes make a
right.
We are Megan and Brittany, thehosts of Fearlessly Female.
This podcast was born out ofambition, drive and a lot of
wine.
We're two powerhouse comedicwomen that are having uncensored
conversations about topics thataffect women.
We're airing all the dirtylaundry, so grab your favorite

(00:26):
drink and give us a listen.
Today's podcast is my favoritetopic wine.
In fact, I just about have morewine in my system than I do
blood.

Brittany (00:35):
I can attest to that.
She brought a bottle to thestudio.
Can you believe she ain't evensharing Warning?
Calm your tits.
Offense will not be taken here.
Grab your favorite wine, burnyour bot and let's have a good
time all right, so let's startwith our favorite wine.

Meghan (00:51):
Clearly it's red.
Mostly I like red blends.
I love the paso robles region.
Copper thief is great if you'relooking to have a big,
delicious steak.
It partners so well.
I like to keep my price pointbetween $10 and $30, just for
reference.

Brittany (01:10):
Ooh, I love a good red blend.
My favorite, though, is morethe white Sauvignon Blanc and
Pinot Grigio.
Let me tell you, I've practicedthat so many times.
I'm so proud of myself I canorder it at a restaurant without
sounding like a fool.
But I like it dry, like mysense of humor.
I'm totally kidding.
I just have a thing for colddrinks, and apparently it's not
socially acceptable to put icecubes in red wine.

(01:33):
So you know, here we are, but Ican't say that I have a
favorite white.
But I do take the tasting notesvery seriously.

Meghan (01:40):
I would say I'd be absolutely offended if she put
ice cubes in her red wine infront of me.
So that's not happening.

Brittany (01:48):
That's probably why she's not sharing it with me
right now.
But let's talk about white winefor a second.

Meghan (01:54):
The only white wine I drink is champagne.
Make it a brute, make it mom's,and it's even better with
waffles.

Brittany (02:03):
Oh yes, she had me try this rosé from mom's this
morning and I'm not a big roséperson, and let me tell you it
was fantastic.
But, megan, why don't you tellus how you feel about Chardonnay
?

Meghan (02:14):
No one likes licking the inside of a steel barrel Pass.
It's not even wine in my book.

Brittany (02:21):
Not to mention the awful hangover that comes with
the excessive sweetness, thoughwe have decided to use it as our
password for our businessrelationship.
So if we ever need to talkabout something hard because you
know our friendship mattersmore than our business we both
say a Chardonnay and we canactually talk about it and we
know the frame of mind that weneed to be in.

Meghan (02:41):
Yeah, if you want more information on that, listen to
our Serial Entrepreneur podcast.
But I would say that's enoughabout white wine.
Let's move on to the next topic.

Brittany (02:50):
Okay, let's talk about some of our favorite wine
tasting experiences, oh my gosh.

Meghan (02:54):
So I went to Greece and I got a tour of a vineyard
Really incredibly cool, justlike the grapevines.
They were so tall Like I waswalking underneath them and the
tour was led by the cousin ofthe owners, so it was just a
really family experience.
But then at the end we went tothis house to have lunch.
It happened to be the mother'shouse of the people who owned

(03:17):
the winery and the food, likewas from her garden, like she
had picked the tomatoes, made usthis incredible lunch.
Of course we were having wineright.
It was just such an incredibleexperience, oh my gosh, that
sounds so nice.

Brittany (03:32):
I really loved living near Napa and just hopping from
one winery to the next, and eachwinery is just so different and
unique.
One of our I guess teambuilding exercises we did for
our job was a winemaking class,so they bussed us up there and
then we got to, you know, choose.
They had like an array ofsamples of red and you get to

(03:52):
mix them, and then we all triedthem at the end and voted like
who made the best one?
Clearly, mine didn't win, butyou know it should have won, but
I visited this place in Miamiand it was super weird in a good
way, but they had like tropicalwines, right, it was just a
very unique experience.
So they had like guava wine, mango wine.
You know all these differenttypes.
You know what I really want todo, though.

Meghan (04:16):
Do tell you know I love unique experiences.

Brittany (04:20):
I want to go to Italy during their harvest season and
do that grape stomping and Ithink it would just be so much
fun to like get in there barefeet in a barrel.

Meghan (04:27):
Oh my gosh.
First it would feel so crazy tohave it between your toes, but
could you imagine us doing ittogether, like flashes to
Lucille Ball and Vivian Vanceare happening.
It wouldn't be long before wewere like full body rolling in
the grapes.
Imagine that bottle of wine, cheap and discounted for sure,
and maybe a little nasty, butreally probably one of the best

(04:51):
experiences I had was oneMother's Day.
I was able to take both my momand grandma to this little
winery.
It was tucked in some mountainsand they had just picked
strawberries.
That morning homemade granolalike the best yogurt you could
imagine.
I mean just the freshest offreshest of everything.
I am very sure the chickenslaid the eggs that morning for

(05:13):
my eggs right.
It was incredibly relaxing.
And then it was just such awonderful time to be able to
spoil my mom and my grandmotherfor mothers.
Oh, that's super sweet and thatsounds was just such a
wonderful time to be able tospoil my mom and my grandmother
for mothers.

Brittany (05:22):
Oh, that's super sweet and that sounds really good.
I love some, some freshhomemade granola too.
I think for me my best memorywas my birthday at Napa.
Two of my girlfriends kind ofplanned the whole like trek so
we went wine hopping and thewineries we stopped at like one
was just like just absolutelylike red carpet.
I felt like a movie star.
So I pulled up and they justlike rolled out this little like

(05:45):
floor mat and it was just.
You know, they catered to ushand and foot.
When we left they gave uslittle bags with these glass
water bottles and everything.
And then we ended up going tolunch, I think at this other
winery, and they had this likelittle like Italian band come
and play.
It was just like superembarrassing.
I don't like being put in thespotlight, but they were like

(06:05):
all surrounding me singing HappyBirthday and everything.
It was just.
It was a lot of fun.
I remember that show because Iwas one of those friends.

Meghan (06:14):
And it was fabulous.
I think I like when she'stalking about that band that was
playing and embarrassing her,like I think I got a dress and I
probably still have it Likethere's like a tiny little
sidebar, but anyways, I honestlyjust think it's so important to
take advantage of theopportunities around you.
I know everyone cannot travelinternationally to Italy, but

(06:36):
you'd be surprised about howmany hidden wineries or tasting
rooms are around you and ifyou're really striking out, make
your own experience.
I'm going to add to our socialmedia a couple ideas if you're
looking to have a wineexperience at home.

Brittany (06:52):
So did you know that not all people are wine lovers?

Meghan (06:55):
That seems impossible to me.

Brittany (06:57):
Right, that's what I said.
Okay, so what recommendationsdo you have for someone who's
maybe just starting to dabble?

Meghan (07:03):
in the wine.
So one experience I would shareis called Traveling Vineyard.
It's a super cool concept, sothey come to you.
So if you're looking for aunique birthday or bachelorette,
this is an incredibly fun idea.
But they give you a menubeforehand and you pair
different wines with differentfoods and you actually kind of
figure out your palate a littlebit and as it corresponds to

(07:25):
foods, incredibly fun experience.

Brittany (07:27):
Oh, I love that.
I love that.
I think for me my biggest thingwas like get a friend or
friends that are into wine sothey can make suggestions for
you, kind of based on what youlike and what you don't like.
But if your friends aren't thatcool, probably doing a tasting
flight at a winery, just youknow so you can try different
wines, see what you like, seewhat you don't like.
Maybe like a red blend is good, because you know it's kind of

(07:48):
like grapefruit juice.
Or even get a membership.
I think you had a couple ofmemberships too, right.

Meghan (07:54):
I have had a couple of memberships.
I would say I'm not the friendto get you into wine because I
don't make suggestions.
I tell you what you like.
But memberships are a great wayto try out a winery and figure
out which wines that you reallylike.

Brittany (08:09):
I love that.
All right, moving away fromlike the basic red white wines,
we're going international.
So have you ever heard ofgrappa?
Oh my, gosh.

Meghan (08:20):
So I've heard of grappa.
I haven't't had it, but I havehad ozu, which I think is the
greece version of grappa, and mygoodness, do I have some
stories?

Brittany (08:30):
yes, you're right.
So if you don't know whatgrappa is, or even ozu, it's
pretty much like the leftover ofthe wine, so it's pretty much
moonshine, right, let's get realabout it.
And, holy shit, that will lightyou up.
The first time I drank it waswith my dad and he was like all
right, you have to try this.
So I'm at this restaurant inSausalito called the Trident and

(08:51):
it's like super cool, right,it's all like seventies,
eighties, like not themed, butlike they had a lot of artists
from that time go there, it sitson the water, it's beautiful.
We had this great dinner andit's like an after dinner drink,
right.
And so they pour it in likelittle, like shot glasses, and
you're like okay, cool, whatever, you have one of those and like
you are done.

Meghan (09:13):
Well, in Greece it's called Ozu, but I don't know if
it's technically called wine.
So we're sneaking it into thispodcast because it's like clear
liquid.
But let me tell you, like someof the restaurants it's like
gasoline and then some of it islike so incredibly smooth, so
you really never know what youget.
Moonshine is absolutely anaccurate word, but it's like the

(09:36):
dinner mint at every restaurant.
Like you get the check, you getsome Ozu and then you find out
am I going to die?
with gasoline, or is it going tobe delicious, right, but it was
a really fun experience.
I love like little dinner mints, I feel like the hair growing
on my chest every time I drinkit, just for like perspective.

Brittany (09:57):
Absolutely Booking wax appointment now.
So all right.
How about we talk about me fora second?

Meghan (10:01):
Oh Lord, brittany.
So imagine walking into likethis dungeon.
Right, you go down this likeset of stairs, which anybody
who's ever spent any time withme knows.
I will always like go down aset of stairs and I usually like
strike gold when I do this.
But you walk down this like setof stairs and you're like in

(10:22):
this basement and just imaginelike all these like potion
looking things on the wall, likeyou remember, like the like
like heads in the jars andwhatever science experiment,
like they're murky looking jars.
That's what mead is.
Brittany came and visited meonce and we went to this meadery

(10:42):
and to this day I cannot getthe taste out.

Brittany (10:47):
I think it's just been an ongoing joke, because the
whole place it was super cute, right, they had like a little
bar up top and the shop and wego downstairs I'm like, oh, this
is fun.
It was like kind of like alittle hidden speakeasy thing
and it was all decked out.
And I'm like, all right, thisis cool, this is great.
And so we're ordering and thiswoman we asked the waitress
what's good, you know?
And she's like, oh, tried themead flight and she is hyping

(11:08):
this thing up like it is goingout of style.
Give it to her on her salesability, so we get it.

Meghan (11:13):
and like we took a sip and we both just looked at each
other like, like I can't evendescribe like how disgusting it
is right, like I love a goodvibe, right like down in a
basement, brick walls, like veryyou know how Brittany described
it is absolutely perfect, butum, the drink matters.

Brittany (11:36):
And wow, that will never happen again we tried the
full flight, too, on differentflavors and did not find
anything even remotely palatablethere wasn't a single one, all
right, so when I was in nom, Ilove a good nam story.
I absolutely love saying thatto be clear, this is a trip to

(11:56):
vietnam.
She went on.

Meghan (11:57):
She wasn't actually serving in nam, that's correct,
but in nam we used to say mo haibai yo before every sip.
Like I can tell you likethere's this, like one memory I
have we're in this bar and it'smy like quasi brother and his
dad and the driver and my dad,and like every drink that we

(12:21):
took, every sip of the beer, mohigh by yo and it was like so
much fun.
Like imagine doing that like 20times over an evening.
We had an incredible time.

Brittany (12:32):
Oh my goodness, I love that.
I mean, you know, here you justlike cheers at once.
Oh my gosh, we need to do thistogether.
All right, let's do it together.
Okay, ready, mo, high by yo.

Meghan (12:42):
All right If you yourself have ambition, drive
and clearly booze in your system.
We would love to have you as aguest or hear your ideas, email
fearlesslyfemaleuncensored atgmailcom.
