I want to throw a few thankyous out there for new listeners
we've got.
We are now in 10 countries.
I'd like to thank people inGermany.
(00:46):
We're getting a lot of hitsfrom there.
We've got some new ones inAustralia, the UK, lebanon, I
think we're on, I mean all overBangladesh.
We appreciate the word beingspread out there and it really
helps us out.
In the next few weeks, we'reactually going to be introducing

(01:31):
music and sex, drugs and rockand roll, so let us know all
your comments, good and bad.
We listen to everything.
And yeah, on to you, rob.
What do you got to say aboutall that?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Well, we don't really
need titles, but I guess
co-host uh, rob wardrums, franklin and I want to welcome
everybody to like season two,the first episode, and happy
2025 everybody.
I remember back in the daythinking I'd never even make it
to this number.
You know, when you're a kidit's like, oh, I'm never gonna
see that number.
But thank god, thank god it,you know, it's come to fruition
(02:07):
anyway.
Welcome everybody.
And uh, basically what we'regoing to talk about today is, uh
, well, I'm going forward isokay, you've already done a
couple shows.
Now we're going to like startredefining, like our set list,
talk with each other about thedo's and don'ts of crowd
interaction, uh, stage presence,uh the things you've learned
(02:29):
from the bar owners and how toapply it to like your next shows
and then getting the rightcrowds to your shows.
You know, you know workingsocial media to make sure you
got the right crowds.
You know, don't just say you'relike metal.
I mean you got to kind ofredefine it now, because it's so
many different like genres ofmetal.
You kind of got it.
Yeah, I mean somebody may wantto come out and see, like you
(02:50):
know, growling kind of metal andyou're doing like more melodic
kind of shit.
So you really want to make surethat you're presenting yourself
to what you really fucking areyou?
Speaker 1 (02:59):
know, yeah, no shit
on that, because you know it's
like I don't want to go to a barand somebody's saying that they
play rock and roll or classicrock and all of a sudden you're
hearing people playing countryor other kind of shit.
I mean just to say we are morerock, metal-orientated guys.
But all of this advice andstuff applies to whether you're
(03:21):
country, pop, top 40, dance, youknow, whatever kind of music
you're doing, we appreciate itall and we know you know artists
as a general, musicians, thededication it takes for you to.
You know get your craft goingand get the band going.
So you know nothing personal ifI talk shit about country or
something else, but not my cupof tea.
But you know, like Rob wassaying, you've really to know
(03:44):
what kind of crowd you'replaying to and what kind of
crowd you want to come see you.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Yeah, yeah.
And another thing I'd like todo in this season is we've
talked about garage to stage andthe process, and basically Dana
and I are doing the same thingright now.
I mean, we've in the past, doneall this, but now we're kind of
like starting all over again, which is really cool.
I mean, you know, we both kindof took a hiatus from music for
(04:10):
a while, but now we're we're tothe point where we're
auditioning and basicallystarting a new, a new project.
So we want to kind of keep youupdated on on how we're doing as
well and you know the kind ofsteps we're taking and, and you
know, just kind of keep you upto date on what we're doing, if
that's cool.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Yeah, it's a it's.
It's fun to start the processall over.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
It is, it really is,
it's real cool.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
I forgot all the.
You know the, the fun that goesalong with, you know,
auditioning new people.
You know the nervous energy youget from.
You know I'm going to be goodenough for this guy.
Or you know, is this guy goingto suck compared to us?
Or you know just the stuff thatyou don't know and you know
just for all you listeners outthere to know.
You know we follow our ownadvice of what we're telling you
(04:56):
.
It's you know with this.
You know we actually auditioneda new guitar player yesterday
and instead of us just saying, okay, here, show up, here, play
a couple songs and whatever it's, you know I actually picked the
guy up and we had about ahalf-hour drive to the practice
place so I got a chance to getto really, you know.
Know this guy a little bit morepersonally.
You know, before we justdropped on our instruments to
see it's like, you know, numberone, are we going to even gel
(05:18):
with this person before we even?
You know you might be a greatguitar player, but if I don't
like you, you don't like me,that makes no difference.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
Yeah, that was really
cool of you.
What's that?
I said that was really cool ofyou.
That was a good way to kick itoff.
Oh yeah, and during theaudition we did all those things
that we suggested too.
We made sure he's not like araging alcoholic and didn't show
up with a Jack you knowguzzling a Jack Daniel bottle or
you know doing lines on his ampor anything like that.
(05:46):
So we kind of like you know, wetalked about that, talked about
you know directions and youknow.
So we did all those things thatwe had like suggested on
previous episodes.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Yeah, so I had a
backup plan.
If I you know this guy, if Isaw him as being a total crazy
lunatic or something, I was justgoing to kind of drive around
the block, say, okay, you know, the storage place is right
around the corner, hop out realquick, and I gotta hit.
You know, I was just gonnafucking take off and leave him
there.
I mean, I had all this, allthis shit with me, so he didn't
know where I live.
You know, it's like a goodbackup plan.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
But yeah, he turned
out to be a pretty cool dude, so
yeah, he did, yeah, and, likewe said to each other, it's like
, okay, he's worth anotherlisten.
So basically what that means iswe've got another audition next
week, cause you know what's.
One of the things we talkedabout them with them was how are
you, you know, playing withanother guitarist?
I mean, are you cool withsharing leads, or so you know,
(06:38):
we talked about all that too and, and hopefully this this next
guy comes on board is just ascool and prepared, because this
guy did show up.
I mean, we gave a couple youknow, song suggestions and he
listened to them and he waspretty prepared.
I thought.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Yeah, I mean yeah,
for just you know, like I said,
some of the songs that we gavehim were ones that most people
don't, they don't randomly know.
I mean they're, you know, Iwouldn't say obscure songs, but
they're, you know, I wouldn'tsay obscure songs, but they're,
you know, from a band that's notreal well known and it's
definitely a song that's ourstyle.
So we want to see you know howhe played that and yeah, for it
(07:13):
being such a song that he'sprobably never heard of, he
definitely pulled it off prettygood.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
I was pretty
impressed yeah, actually first
attempt through, we pretty muchkind of nailed it, so I was,
yeah, I was pretty happy at allfor any I know so changes, or
yeah, it was nice it was, it wasa pleasant surprise yeah, so
that just showed his dedicationtoo.
I mean he wanted to make sure, you know, he didn't show up and
just like know the verse.
I mean he pretty much knew thestructure and I thought that was
(07:38):
hella cool yeah, all right.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
So when we're talking
about playing in front of the
right crowd and making sure theright crowd is there, if you're
playing at a bar, you never knowwho's going to walk in and you
can't control that.
But what you can control is thefriends or family that you have
come in that you said, hey,we're playing so-and-so this
weekend.
Have them bring friends of thelike you know the same like, you
(08:07):
know they you.
You tell them it's like hey, weplay stuff that's like black
Sabbath or whatever kind ofstuff you're playing.
And you'll tell your friendslike hey, you know, if you're
going to mention this to yourfriends, make sure they're cool
with that kind of music.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
And make sure they're
cute.
If you're going to bring them, you know, if they're females, if
you're going to bring them, youknow, if they're females.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Yeah, I mean, all the
guys in the band are definitely
going to want some eye candyout in the crowd.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Oh yeah, you know,
same going.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
If you've got a
female there, it's like you know
they don't want to look to uglyguys there.
It's like you know, bring yourgood-looking friends.
But you know, make sure youjust have a crowd that you can
control that is coming to seewhat you play or the kind of
style and genre that you're into, just so you don't have people
walking out, like we mentionedbefore.
You know, walking into a barand getting something not what
(08:52):
you expected, I mean, if Iwalked into a bar and saw
something like rap, I'm not abig fan of rap, you know, sorry.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Yeah, me either.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Rap guys out there.
But you know, first thing Iwould do is I would walk out and
go find another bar that hadsomething more to my style okay
so try to try to control whatyou have coming in.
You know to your, to your events, and you know you've got to
promote your own stuff too.
It's like you know.
I know social media is a bigthing now.
Back in our day we did flyersand you know phone calls and you
(09:21):
know more door-to-door stuff.
Now you can do everything onsocial media and speaking of
them.
Yeah, let the social media, youknow, do the same thing, say,
hey, we played this like this, this style music.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
You know, come check
us out at blah blah blah, you
know, bring your friends andstuff, and speaking of which,
yeah, speaking of which I mean,if you've already done a couple
shows, make sure your firstcouple shows you've got somebody
out there with a you know goodiphone or some kind of recording
device to get those recorded soyou can get them on social
media.
Plus.
I'm 90 sure that you know mostbar owners gonna want to like
(09:55):
see how you represent yourselfon stage too.
So yeah, so definitely get youknow one of your two of your
best songs and make sure there'ssomebody out there recording
that shit for you yeah, you know, I mean nowadays iphones record
stuff oh, I know, they're justas good as any recordings we
were doing back in the day with.
You know if I can reel the reeland tapes and all this
(10:16):
old-fashioned shit that we usedto do, but in mono hell, you can
make a movie on iphone, so it'slike you know yeah, all our old
shit's like in mono, so it'sit's hard to even like edit it
to make it sound like halfwaycool.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Yeah you know those
old cassettes, you know they
start to wear out and yeah it'stransferred before it's too late
.
You know you got that wholecharlie brown sound thing coming
out of it.
Yeah, not a good thing, um, butyeah, like you said before, rob
, you know you know bar ownersthey're gonna want to see.
You know what have you saidbefore, Rob.
You know bar owners they'regoing to want to see.
You know what have you donebefore.
Where have you played?
You know, if you're juststarting out, you know that's a
(10:51):
tough one.
You're going to have toactually physically go talk to
bar owners yourself.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Yeah, you got to sell
yourself, yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
You know, don't be
one of those people that are,
like you know, calling 20, 30different bar owners.
Go see them personally, shaketheir hand and say hey, this is
who I am, this is what I'm about.
You know, we are just startingout, but here's a couple of
clips from our first or secondshow that we've done.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
I mean, they'll
respect that and they'll
definitely appreciate that morethan a phone call from somebody
they don't know especially ifyou get a good shot of a big
crowd out there, like you know, looking excited about what
you're doing.
That would be, you know.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Yeah you know that'd
be a good thing.
You know, like I know we weregoing to say you know, mention
today's, you know stage presence, you'll let let people know.
In the crowd it's like, hey,we're recording some of the
stuff for, uh, you know, for amedia site and you know, let let
the let the people that arethere watching you good idea
good idea.
Let them go crazy for you, because that'll just help you
(11:42):
promote yourself put a good clap.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Uh sound effect in
the background.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
No, I'm just kidding
you know auto tune and all the
other things.
I'm not a huge fan if you can'tplay the sheet yourself.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
Don't play it exactly
, exactly this is what I am and
I you know.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
I know everybody's
got their own different views on
it, but it's like you know ifyou can't sing, then don't.
Don't use a machine to help yousound like something you're not
exactly.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Exactly.
Another big thing like what youwere just talking about is like
crowd interaction.
I mean I've seen a lot of bandslike back in the day I'd see
these bands they like come intoa club, do their little set and
leave and never like eveninteract with the crowd
whatsoever.
I mean, to me that's just.
I mean I know it was kind oflike the attitude you kind of
had to have.
(12:26):
But in my opinion, I mean, whenyou're like taking a break in
between sets or something likestroll around, say hey, how you
doing you know, hey, you'reliking the sound and you know
shit, like that, because thatnot only gives you a good, you
know feedback, but it's showingthat you like care about the
people that showed up and, plus,it can help you with your set
list when you're redefining it.
(12:46):
It's like you know what soundedgood to you, what didn't you
know.
Give me your opinion.
You know.
Those kind of things are, youknow help.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
Yeah, I mean you can
still have the attitude and
interact with the crowd.
I mean, you know, I know backin the day, you know everybody
talks about, you know the 80sand the 90s, but the 80s were
more of a wild from what I seeout there now.
The 80s were definitely a fitthe description of the sex drugs
(13:14):
and rock and roll.
I mean, you had your MotleyCrue's and your Guns N' Roses,
the artists that were veryflamboyant and crazy.
But that publicity not onlyhelped them, but you know, the
fans love that shit too.
So it's like you know, you canstill have the attitude and and
and do all that, but still becool to the crowds, and the
(13:34):
crowds can be like wow, theseguys are bad-asses, but they'll
still come off the stage andtalk to me, or say hey thanks
for coming by and shit.
I mean, it's like that goes along way.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
No, it really does,
really does.
And speaking of stage presence,I mean I firmly believe in like
, I mean put on a show, I meanlike, for as a drummer, I, like
you know, twirl my sticks, don'tdo exaggerated movements, you
know, just make.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
Make it a show People
want to just they don't have
the energy, they're not going toshow you the energy back yeah,
I mean if you're standing there, you know, just doing your
(14:19):
little thing, even if you're agood, good musician, if you're
not emphasizing the energy thatyou're having on stage and stuff
, the crowd's going to be like, okay, well, these guys are
boring.
Then you're going to find thatfirst set.
When you stop, come back in thesecond set, you're going to
have half your crowd gone.
Yeah, I'm a firm believer ineven being a little bit older in
(14:43):
age.
Now, next time I get on stageI'm going to be running around.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
Oh, you always did.
Anyway, man, you've always hadreally good stage presence.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
But yeah, it's like
you said give them shows.
The funny thing is me and myson, probably about a year ago,
went and saw this band that I'venever heard of, didn't know
what to expect, by the name ofAvatar.
They're like from sweden orsome somewhere like that um,
kind of more on the death metal, but they were pretty melodic
(15:13):
and they put on such a good showit was.
I mean, I was even if I didn'tlike their music.
I would have gone and see themagain just for their show I mean
, it was just, it was absolutelyamazing.
it was like you know, you werewatching like a movie, not only
with good music, but you werewatching a presentation and it
was.
It was amazing.
I mean, you know, I talk aboutthis band other people now
(15:36):
because of the show they put on,and normally I've never.
If I were to just heard them onSpotify or something, I
wouldn't talk soenthusiastically about this band
, but because of the show thatthey put on I do.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Yeah, that's the way
I feel about one of my favorite
bands, I mean performance-wise,it's Armored Saint.
I mean I've seen tons of hugeacts but they put on such a cool
, flawless show.
I mean I told everybody aboutit.
It's like the best show I'veever seen is Armored Saint.
Yeah, I'm a little jealousbecause our cousin just went and
(16:09):
saw them a little while ago.
Yeah, and they're still.
They're still doing it, man, still rocking it man yeah, okay.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
So, speaking of
cousins, I got something I want
to throw out here real quick aswe mentioned.
We mentioned on our other showabout our our cousin bruce,
who's in well, the doom metalband trouble that's you know the
pretty big name out there, especially overseas, but they, I
just found out, are doing whatis probably the coolest show
ever.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
Oh, I just heard
about that too.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
Did you see that?
I just saw it yesterday and Iwas telling Robin, my wife,
about it.
I was like I've got to go tothis show, even though it's
coming up and I can't afford it.
But next year that is my goaland it's called 70,000 Tons of
Metal.
It's basically a cruise shipfor five days.
They're going from Miami to, Ithink, Jamaica.
Yeah, yeah.
(16:54):
And they've got 64 or 65 metalbands playing nonstop for five
days.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Man, that's a lot of
musicians.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
What the hell I mean?
Speaker 2 (17:05):
that's like paradise
right there.
Oh yeah, that'd be hella cool.
I would love to do that.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
So I got on the
website and looked at it and
these bands do just like what wesaid In between, when they're
not playing and stuff, they'reout there eating with the people
that have bought tickets.
Nice, I mean they areinteracting with the crowd.
I mean they're on a ship, theycan't go anywhere, yeah, and
they love doing it because itgets their name out a little bit
more.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Oh, my God, I would
love to do that.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
Yeah, I mean,
wouldn't that be?
That would just be awesome.
But most of these bands thereare some that are real big name,
but most of them are just bandsthat are out there playing,
that are really good and mightnot have the huge name and doing
stadium shows, but have thehuge name and doing stadium
shows, but you know they'regetting out there doing their
shit with the crowd.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
Yeah, I wish we would
have had our shit together
sooner.
Man, I've been cool to bookthat I couldn't even imagine.
How they wouldn't even have topay me.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
I mean, I do that
shit for free it's like you know
, he's put me on the cruise, feed me and I'm good oh yeah no
shit, okay, so that was my throwout for the uncle.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Cool, cool.
Yeah, we definitely got to gethim on this show.
We haven't really tried to dothat yet, but we definitely need
to try and get him on the show.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
Oh, definitely.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
So, speaking of our
progress, you threw it out there
earlier that we're in a shedand kind of the reason we're
doing that.
We tried the house thing, butunfortunately both Dana and I
live too close to neighbors andit's not really something we
could do, so we ended up.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
We did try, though.
Well, we did try, yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
So what we ended up
doing was we looked for the
rehearsal spots, but there'snone close to where we're at
with the fees that we wanted topay, so we ended up with a
climate controlled.
It's a good size shed, it'sclimate controlled and there's
security and insurance and allthat, so it's working out really
well.
And you would think, with beingmetal sheds, it would be a lot
(19:03):
of ambient noise that you didn'twant, but it's actually not too
terrible, to tell you the truth.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Yeah, I mean, you
know we've done a couple things,
you know hung up a coupleblankets and I'd like to, you
know, go a little bit stepfurther and get some of the
noise-blocking styrofoam stuff,and we'll do that.
But yeah, it's a pretty goodspot for right now.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
Yeah, so that's kind
of like you know, we wanted to
include our progress.
That's kind of that's the waywe're proceeding.
So, like I said, every episodewe'll update you and let you
know how you're going, how it'sgoing, like Dana said, we've
already auditioned one guy.
He's a pretty cool guy andwe've invited him back.
So next episode we'll let youknow how it goes with the second
guitar player and, uh, mypersonal goal is to be out there
(19:46):
again by spring, because for meit's been too long.
I mean, I haven't been on stagefor a little bit now and got
the it's been even longer for me, so I'm with you on that.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
I am, I'm excited to
you know, not only get on stage
again, but to have my son in thecrowd, who's never seen me play
live yeah, I mean me as well.
Same same situation yeah, to methat would just be that, that's
, that's a definite goal of mine, because before I die I want to
play a live show, you know, infront of my son, oh, actually
even my wife, I mean.
(20:16):
So I got married after we weredoing all that stuff.
I mean sure she's seen videosand and heard stuff of us doing,
but she's actually never seenme play live, you know, with,
with the, the whole band.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
It'd be a whole new
honeymoon after that, buddy.
It'd be a whole new honeymoonafter that after she sees the
bass god that you are All right, man.
Well, let's, do you know what?
Speaker 1 (20:41):
we're talking about
oh shit, is it that time?
Oh shit it is.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Oh, it's that time.
Special segment.
This is where we talk aboutsomething that's either
embarrassing or something bad,or something funny or just
something that's happened to youwhile playing live.
What do you?
Speaker 1 (20:59):
got okay.
Well, you know, mine kind offalls on that hoe um the sex,
drugs and rock and roll of music, of what it was like in the 80s
and 90s when we really startedhitting our stride.
This was before I got married,so my wife knows all about our
escapades, so I'm not getting inany trouble for this.
(21:21):
This happened actually on ourvery first show that we played.
I've got to go back.
Our first show was actuallywithout a singer we played.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
Yeah, we played a
party, for it was a work party
of a place that I was working at.
He wanted to put on I think itwas a Christmas party and
Hooters, and he's like you're ina band.
I kept saying, yeah, we'reactually really good and really
tight.
We just haven't found the rightsinger yet.
And he's like, well, you knowwe're throwing this Christmas
party.
Why don't you guys come out andplay for a couple hours?
(21:56):
And I'm like, shit, cool, yeah, that'd be fun.
So we did and, like I said thisor before, I even met my wife
and so, of course, you know, wegot a lot of honeys out there in
the crowd and you know we'replaying, doing our stuff.
And you know, a couple of themthat I worked with were like God
, you guys are awesome.
(22:16):
I love this whole rock and rollthing.
One of them just happened toreally enjoy it and it's like
you know that was hot and sexyand I want to go home with you.
I'm like oh, hell yeah I lovethis rock and roll atmosphere.
This is what I want to do.
I mean, you know.
So not only was I getting thethe, the emotions from the crowd
(22:40):
because everybody was loving itand, you know, getting the
whole party atmosphere and theysaid everybody's clapping and
loving it, and then, you know, had this sexy girl want to go
home with me.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
It's like what a day.
It was a perfect night perfectnight.
Oh, very cool, all right.
Well, mine's kind of a scaryone.
Um.
I don't know if you rememberthis or not, but we played this
halloween gig, um, at a placewhere I actually had my wedding
reception.
I can't remember the name ofthe place it's on South Virginia
, close to where we used to live, actually.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
Garfields.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
Yeah, exactly, I
think it was called Garfields.
Anyway, at this point we hadbeen playing for a while, we had
accumulated a lot of equipment.
We used the U-Haul for shows.
This particular show we hadparked in the parking lot and
all that.
We went in, checked out youknow what was going on with the
club and all that and I and thenkind of went back and kind of
(23:36):
used it like as a backstagething.
We're kind of hanging outdrinking beers and all that and
then fucking locked my keys inthe truck when we shut it and I
had the key to the lock so Icouldn't get back in to get our
equipment and we had like a itwas like a one of these things
where a band played before usand so it was like a half an
hour before we had to set up.
So I'm thinking, oh fuck, whatare we gonna do?
(23:57):
So I can't remember if one ofthe band guys drove to my house
to get the key or if I called mywife at the time to bring the
key, but but it was like I meandown to the wire getting our
equipment out to go into play.
Then I was like nervous as shit.
It's like cause this was I mean, this was a pretty big show was
put on by Z rock and it was ahuge crowd.
(24:18):
It's like, oh fuck.
I just remember being so scaredthat we weren't going to be
able to play on time.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
Oh shit, that is
funny.
I do remember that and I thinkit was your wife at the time
that went and had to rush her.
I think she was at home or onthe way coming to the show and
you're like you know, she turnedaround and yeah.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Thank God I had the
second key to that lock.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Yes, I remember
vaguely thinking like thinking
there's no way we're going toget set up and be able to pull
this off in time.
We're going to be fashionablylate.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
Okay, Dana, what's
next?
Speaker 1 (24:56):
Well, okay, so you've
done a couple of shows and
you're finding your groove asfar as what you're going to do
on stage now and how you want topresent yourself.
You've talked about how youguys are going to interact with
each other on stage, and if oneof you guys is running around,
you want to make sure you're notsmashing into each other.
(25:16):
You're figuring out what you'redoing as a group on stage so
you look professional and notlike you're a novice doing this.
Right, cool not like you're anovice doing this, right cool,
you know.
So now that you're talking tobar owners and stuff, you know
you should really have some sortof contract, or you know.
I guess you can even do it on aphone now, because you know if
you're recording it on a phone, but something, some kind of
(25:39):
legal binding thing saying youknow who's responsible for the
equipment in case of a fire, youknow, in case of theft or flood
or any kind of crazy shit.
It's like, who's responsible forthat?
And, of course, pay.
How are you getting paid?
Are you getting a percentage ofthe bar, like?
they used to do back in the day.
I'm not sure if that's, are youcharging people at the door to
(26:01):
get in?
Are you going to get apercentage of that, or is that
all yours, or are you just goingto get a flat fee?
I mean, you know you don't wantto find out afterwards where
it's like okay, well, we kind ofhad a crowd, but not that much,
so here you're getting 50 buckswhere you're like yeah you know
well, we discussed this.
You know, you just want to makesure that there's no surprises
when it comes to pay.
I mean, you know, at this point, you know, I know a lot of guys
(26:22):
are out there even paying orplaying for free just to get
their name out there.
You know, just starting out.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
We've done that
before as well.
We've actually paid to play.
You know, that used to be athing too.
I'm not going to do that again, but yeah, that used to be a
thing.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Yeah, I mean, I'm not
opposed to going out there the
first couple times and notexpecting a whole lot of money.
Oh yeah, of course, If you'regood at what you're doing and
you're bringing in a lot ofpeople, you know you should get
part of that.
I mean, it's the bar owners.
They're getting the money fromthe alcohol they're drinking or
whatever type of place thatyou're in.
So you know it's only fair youget it if you're.
If they're busier than normalbecause of you being there, you
(26:59):
should definitely get your cut.
Oh yeah, exactly I like.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
I like the idea of
having a set fee, just in case
you know you do have the badnight.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
Nobody shows up and
the percentage of the bar till
people are staying at homebecause it's snowing or some
kind of?
Speaker 2 (27:12):
yeah, and you know,
percentage of the bar till is
always cool, doesn't that behuge, like you know, one or two
percent, and then, uh, if you sodecide to have a door person,
you can include that as well, but if you have at least a
minimum set fee, I I thinkthat's the optimal way to go.
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
You know the couple
of times that you know in the
last couple of months that I'vegone out and spent the small
bars.
You know most of these areacoustic sets or duels that are
playing, you know, not fullbands, but a lot of what I've
noticed is going out there nowand I'm seeing it even on some
of the social media.
Stuff I'm looking at is peopleare throwing out tip jars, which
I don't know how I feel aboutthat yeah, I'm not sure I feel
(27:51):
about that either, but yeah, I Idon't know if that's a good or
bad thing, you know, for youguys that are out there doing it
, please leave us a comment.
Let let you let us know if it'sworking for you, what you think
about it, because my personalthing is, you know, tip tip jar
is like you're asking forhandouts, because you suck.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
I mean, that's why,
yeah, I agree, not necessarily
that you suck, but it's just.
Yeah, I don't agree with thateither.
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
But I mean, if that's
what's going on out there now
people, please comment, tell usyou know, because, like I said,
this is kind of a whole new eraright now and I know things are
different in bars and stuff.
So let us know what you'reexperiencing and how it's all
happening out there.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Yeah, like Dana said,
please give us your feedback.
I know we've asked this onevery episode, but, like Dana
said earlier, we do the wholething here.
We do the recording, theediting and the uploading it to
the site that we use to publishit, and it's not only time-cons
consuming but there's some costsinvolved, so any sponsorship or
help would be highlyappreciated.
(28:53):
And also, like Dana said, youknow, please give us your
feedback.
And then you know these othercountries that are been
listening.
Please let us know.
You know, kind of like whathappens in your neck of the
woods.
And, speaking of Germany, we'vegot like 19 listeners there now
, which isn't a huge amount, butI mean it just started.
And uh, we're actually fromGermany, our grandparents and
(29:14):
mother from.
I was trying to think of thename of the village, but I can't
.
We neither one of us couldremember what it is.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
Yeah, our next
episode.
I'll try to dial that down andfind out where that is, because
I'm curious.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
Yeah, but it'd be
cool to hear from you guys too,
since you know we're from thesame neck of the woods.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Yeah you know, like I
mentioned in the beginning, you
know, I love the fact thatwe're in even other countries
that you know.
I never thought that.
You know, like Pakistan, afghanistan, I mean some
countries that I really didn'teven figure on us somehow
getting out there and we are.
I mean, it's a great thing.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
It is it really is?
Speaker 1 (29:52):
Please spread the
word.
If you're in one of thesecountries, let your friends and
families and everybody know sowe can grow in all these
countries.
I mean, if we've got to startdoing some kind of foreign
translation on these things, Imean we'll figure that out too.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
We will, we will, and
please, like we said, please,
you know, let us know what'sgoing on here.
If you want to be a guest, youknow, shoot us your information.
We'd love to hear from you.
We really would.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
That's actually.
You just reminded me.
That's one thing I kind of wantto throw out there.
You know, with these nextepisodes coming up, I mean we'd
love to hear from if there's anyproducers out there, sound
engineers even if you're a soundguy for a local band, you know,
give us, give us a holler Cause.
We'd like to.
You know, we'd like to getinsights from some of your other
professional people outside ofjust the musicians making the
(30:39):
music.
I mean there's a lot of stuffthat goes on in the background
that you know we'd love to hearfrom those people too.
I mean, if you're a roadie forsome big band, give us a call.
We'd love to hear what, whatyour life is all about.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
And, like we said
earlier, I mean we're we're
basically starting this wholeprocess over again, like
probably a lot of you are, soany help we'd appreciate as well
.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
Yeah, yeah, it's like
I said before.
We're we're just two, twobrothers, you know, talking.
Yeah, like I said before, we'rejust two brothers talking about
music and trying to help all ofyou guys out there that are
going through the same thing.
So anytime you see or listen toour podcast, there's a little
button up there that sayssupport, please help us out.
Or if you know anybody that'sgot some extra money hanging
(31:23):
around, yeah, it's as little as$3 to be a sponsor.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
So, yep, help us out
a sponsor.
So, uh, yep, help us out yeahthat would.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
That would help us
put food on the table.
I mean no, just kidding, but atleast help us keep this podcast
going, which you know we wantto do for other musicians and
you know we enjoy doing this andyou know we love the fact that.
You know we're in the thousandsof downloads now, so there's
people out there listening andyou know we appreciate that oh,
we sure, do we really?
really do spread this out to asmany people as we can, and you
(31:52):
want to help people and it's.
You know it's a fun thing.
We love talking about music, soyou know, any kind of little
money to help support us wouldbe greatly appreciated we're not
begging, just asking yeah notyet all right.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
Well, dana, in
closing, what do you want to say
to all these fine folks thatare listening to us?
Speaker 1 (32:07):

You know we do this about onceevery two weeks and you know I'm
thinking at some point.
You know we're going to makethis even more, maybe even once
a week.
You know what?
Just thank you very much foryou know we've been doing this I
think it's three months now.
Speaker 2 (32:24):

Speaker 1 (32:25):
And it's gotten
bigger sooner than I thought it
would.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
Me too.
Me too, we appreciate it verymuch.
Speaker 1 (32:32):

energized about it and you know

Speaker 2 (32:40):

that we do have a couple of
