Drew and Gabe All right, three, two, one and let's get it
(00:23):
started.
Drew (00:24):
Welcome everybody to the
Potty Talk podcast with a
barking guest.
Gabe (00:32):
First guest of the podcast
, first guest of the pod.
Drew (00:34):
So my name is Drew.
I'm the marketing director hereat Fresh Patch, and this is my
name is Gabe.
Gabe (00:39):
I'm the partnerships
coordinator and we have a lovely
guest today.
Tanya (00:43):
A couple lovely guests
actually.
I'm Tanya Bruno's mom.
Drew (00:46):
Yes, and then Bruno's
walking off frame right now, but
for all you listeners, youdefinitely heard him barking
right now.
So Bruno's our first everpodcast guest for the Potty Talk
podcast.
So pleasure to have you guys.
Thank you for making the driveand being able to come out here
to Fresh Patch and hopefullyyou've enjoyed your morning so
far.
But yeah, thank you for tuningin.
Tanya (01:08):
No, thank you guys for
having me, absolutely.
Drew (01:10):
Cool yeah.
So we'll just get started andknock out some questions for you
and Bruno and kind of dive intowhy Fresh Patch has been a
benefit for you and just someother questions regarding his
social media account.
So we'll start with the firstone and, bruno, you want to come
, get in a frame so we can askthese questions?
(01:30):
Here we go.
Come here, bruno.
Tanya (01:36):
Bruno, what's up there,
buddy Bruno ball.
Gabe (01:41):
Bruno's a little confused
right now, but it's a new area.
Yeah, you can't be too mad athim he's got to figure it out
it's not land oh, he's notlistening good enough.
Drew (01:51):
Bruno might be looking for
our chicken trainer treats at
this point.
Tanya (01:55):
Yeah, seems that way
those are a hit.
Drew (01:56):
So cool, so well, we'll
let him do his thing get into
the first question.
(02:01):
So, he'll pop in.
Yeah, he'll pop in from time totime um.
Drew (02:05):
So what made you create um
a social media account for your
bruno?
What?
What was the inspiration?
Tanya (02:12):
um.
So for me I think it was umafter I got bruno, I just got
like a lot of pictures of him onmy phone and so I just felt
like it was like kind of cool tosee what other pet parents are
doing on um social media, and soI think I created the account,
kind of to build community, andso um through his social media
(02:33):
account, I've been able to findlike other pet parents that I've
found really cool andinteresting, and um meet a lot
of great friends yeah, I knowmean, my camera roll's filled
with photos of my dog, so I getit.
Gabe (02:46):
Oh yeah.
Drew (02:47):
I've been on that fence
too.
I'm like what am I going to dowith these photos?
You know I got to do something.
So I mean I feel like every dogowner is like that, right, oh,
100%.
Gabe (02:55):
I think it's cool too.
Drew (03:07):
Like you know, you look
back a couple years and you're
like oh, look at little bruno, yeah, just a pub.
Look at this, look at this postwe made, look at how far we've
come.
Gabe (03:11):
Yeah, you know so exactly
really cool.
Well, um, and another thingwith, like, the community is
that's.
That's a big thing that I'venoticed since working here is
like, um, you know, you, youwork with, you work with, uh,
one, one influencer, and thenyou notice that all all these
influencers that you're workingwith like are interacting with
each other and there's a littlecommunity built and we hope that
you know, there's a communitybehind fresh patch as well, and
(03:32):
we've kind of seen that grow, which has been really cool and
you've been a huge asset forthat as well so thank you for
being a fresh patch customer andI'm glad bruno enjoys and your
videos are awesome.
So definitely, and I was tellingyou earlier, but, like you,
were one of the first partnersthat I got here when I got hired
, so thank you for doing thatfor us.
It's been awesome cool um.
(03:53):
I kind of want to expand reallyquick on that question.
Do you have any sort of advice?
Like I, have a lot of friendswho have recently gotten dogs
and they're kind of interestedin getting into the creator
space and that sort of stuff.
So do you have any advice forpeople who are just getting
started and looking to kind of,you know, build a community, uh,
make an instagram, become ainfluencer with their dog?
Tanya (04:13):
yeah, I think the first
step that I would tell them is,
um, to go to dog events, and soI think the dog events really
kind of helped me meet otherpeople who are just as equally
as obsessed with Bruno, liketheir dog, um, obviously, but um
, I think that would be thefirst step and then the second
step is just kind of post, likewhat you guys are doing together
(04:35):
.
I think a lot of the times weget caught up in like our mind
and like nobody's gonna want towatch this, but it's like those
tiny moments that you thinknobody will want to see is what
really people want to see, likethe everyday, raw, real um stuff
of being like a pet parent.
Gabe (04:50):
So yeah, absolutely very
cool sweet, thank you yeah no,
I'll take some of those tipsbecause I need to, I need to
build this whole thing I have apage for my dog, but I just I'm
here at fresh patch all the timeyou know so doing this and I
get home and I'm like I justdon't, I just don't want to edit
more.
Drew (05:09):
I've been editing all day
like, but, like I said, I'm
sitting on this content so I'mlike I need to, I need to show,
show the people gotta dosomething with it.
Gabe (05:15):
Gotta do something with it
, yeah so.
So I want to give us take asecond and, kind of like, put
the spotlight on you and brunoand like, first of all, shout
out to your guys's instagrampage.
At bruno, the labradoodle oninstagram, go ahead and give
them a follow.
It's their great page.
Um, what are some things goingon with you guys right now?
You got anything coming up, or?
Tanya (05:35):
um, right now, we're just
kind of like hanging out um
doing everyday things.
I think for bruno's page we'rereally focused on um the day to
day life.
So I feel like we really justtry to see what can help us
improve like our daily orBruno's quality of life, and so
(05:55):
we've been just kind of seeingwhat other pet parents are doing
and what tips we could takefrom them.
Awesome, and what tips we couldtake from them.
Gabe (06:04):
Awesome.
Drew (06:05):
Yeah, bruno's having a
blast.
For all our listeners thatcan't see him.
He is playing with Adriana, oursocial media manager, behind
the scenes right now, so youmight see him pop in and out and
for our listeners you might nothear him until he barks again.
He's around.
All you people tuning intoYouTube.
You will see the handsome Brunoplaying with our Fresh Patch
(06:29):
Tennis Ball too.
Absolutely.
Not for sale on the website.
But if you're special, you getour Fresh Patch Tennis.
Gabe (06:35):
Ball.
There you go.
And he's really into balls, huh, oh yeah.
Tanya (06:39):
He's obsessed.
I was telling you guys earlierthat I think past, past, like
seven o'clock.
I have to like hide the ballsor else it's just like he's up
in my face, like throwing theball at me and I'm like bruno,
I'm tired yeah, so enough withthe balls today, enough with the
balls, we can have some balltime tomorrow maybe he's
literally addicted.
Drew (06:58):
Like it's bad I mean, yeah
, he was hopping on all our
shelves right now trying tofigure out everything I know,
like like he'd see, like out ofthe corner of his eye he'll see
a ball and he's locked in on it.
(07:08):
Yeah, which is?
Gabe (07:08):
hilarious.
Drew (07:08):
There he goes, there he
goes Uh-oh, we have a guest
coming in the door, but she'snot going to be allowed in yet.
Sorry, stella, it's not yourtime right now.
All right, cool, so we'll moveon on to the next thing as well.
Tanya (07:28):
So what do you struggle
with most?
With being bruno's parent.
Gosh, um, I'm such a softy whenit comes to bruno.
It's a little embarrassing, um,so I think setting boundaries
with him is really difficult, and so, for example, when I'm
having dinner, um, bruno's rightthere by my side begging for
food, and I'm always giving ineach time, and so it's it's.
Drew (07:52):
I think it's a work in
progress and we're working on it
yeah, yeah, I think that'severy pet parent you know it's
always a work in progress nomatter what, and there's always
a little little something thatyou're going to run into, but I
think we're all the same.
Oh yeah, we're gonna, absolutely we're gonna give in,
we're gonna cave every time.
Gabe (08:08):
So yeah, we were talking
about earlier.
Drew (08:11):
How you know, our dogs are
like our family, you know and
they give you those puppy dogeyes and you're like, oh yeah,
I'm gonna cave, even if they'rea puppy or super old, like, yeah
, it's like I can't deny thoseeyes, so for sure, ah, yeah, I'm
I'm very guilty of that, but itis getting better for us too.
We're on trying to monitor, uh,our dog's food, but I feel that
(08:32):
you know, definitely you getthe, you get the beggars and
stuff.
Bruno, you're a big beggar, huhoh yeah he's so focused on that
ball.
Gabe (08:40):
Yeah, yeah, nice, right in
front of the camera to have,
though, like the back pocket, like if he's acting up you.
You're like, oh, got a holehere.
That's what you got to do atthe dinner table.
Yeah, there you go.
Now we're talking.
Drew (08:49):
Yeah, got to have it like
taped underneath the table, so
it's like no Velcro, you have aVelcro, so you put it right back
.
It's like, hey, ok, ok, he'sgood, he's good, put it back.
Gabe (09:06):
Cool.
Well, yeah, thank you for forthat insight.
And um, Gabe, if you want totake over the?
Yeah, yeah, definitely so.
Um, what is it that you do forwork?
Tanya (09:11):
Yeah, so I work in
internal comms and I'm also a
mom and so life can get prettycrazy and I think Fresh Patch
has been really nice to have, especially when, like, I'm busy
doing mom stuff or taking calls.
And I think, especially becauseBruno is very specific I don't
(09:33):
know if it's like a breed thing, because Bruno's very specific,
I don't know if it's like abreed thing so he has some
poodle in him and I've heardother poodle parents say the
same stuff, where they're veryspecific about where they poop
or where they do their business.
And so for Bruno, sometimeswhen I take him out he doesn't
want to go, and so having thatfresh patch as a plan B, it's
really nice to have.
Gabe (09:54):
Absolutely.
And do you live in a house oran apartment?
Tanya (09:56):
We live in a house.
Drew (09:58):
Okay, there you go so for
all you people out there
debating fresh patch.
Yes, house owners do get it too.
I know we market it as anapartment condo living A lot of
people.
We get feedback to saying likewell, I have a house and it's
like, well, perfect example here.
We also get other people whoare like I have a lawn, but I
don't want pea stains on my lawn.
Tanya (10:17):
So I still have an area
for a fresh patch, exactly yeah,
so that's really cool.
Drew (10:23):
Cool, oh, bruno, he's
getting loud.
Gabe (10:28):
Oh, yeah, there you go,
magic bag of tricks yeah, which
distraction do you want?
Drew (10:36):
Magic bag of tricks yeah,
which distraction do you want A
literal bag of tricks?
Tanya (10:40):
Oh he's everywhere.
Drew (10:42):
Oh, it's scavenger hunt
time.
(10:44):
Bruno yeah, look at how the
ball just drops.
Drew (10:46):
The ball just immediately
out of the mouth.
Gabe (10:48):
Suddenly he does not care
about the ball.
Drew (10:51):
So, for all you viewers,
these are our chicken trainer
treats that Tanya is tossingonto the carpet right now.
So check those out.
At FreshPatchcom Chickentrainer treats.
You can find them in ourstarter set or by themselves or
in a three-pack A little dealthat we have.
So buy two pretty much get onefree with that three-pack.
So check them out.
Guaranteed your dog will lovethem.
Gabe (11:11):
They are dog-tested.
Drew (11:16):
They are dog tested.
They are dog tested right.
Can you attest Obsessed,obsessed right.
Perfect.
You saw the rest of our officepups too, stella.
It's kind of crazy.
I think I've met one dog thatdidn't like it, but it was like
an older Chihuahua.
Gabe (11:27):
Probably a little
particular.
It might have been thesituation he was in too.
Drew (11:30):
This is true, this was at
an event.
Gabe (11:36):
Check out those chicken
trainer treats, shout out them.
I mean yeah, we were talkingabout earlier like how kind of
building off, like the doginfluencer thing like how to
control your dog and get them tokind of, like you know, play
the part in the oh yeah, whatever you're filming, you
need to have treats, need tohave must, or?
Drew (11:48):
if you're bruno, maybe a
ball oh yeah, that should get
the trick done absolutely cool,um, all right, so we're talking
about your social media beforeand stuff, and you know you've
been making videos for freshpatch here for a little bit and
uh, we just wanted to know thatyou you did have a video kind of
hit, um, and a lot of it washate comments and uh, we tried
(12:13):
to support you in every way wecould.
But how do you handlesituations like that as a social
media?
You know, on social media as acreator, um, especially when
it's time kind of targetedtowards your dog too.
Yeah, that's tough, yeah, it's,it's definitely tough and um,
yeah, how do you handle?
handle stuff like that on socialmedia?
Tanya (12:32):
um, I think it's it's
hard to say that those comments
don't affect me or don't hurt me, but they're mean comments so
they do kind of affect me, but Ifeel like overall, um, some of
the things that were said in inthe video specifically about you
know, I think people have thisperception that if you have
(12:52):
fresh patch you're like a lazydog owner, you don't take your
dog outside.
But that's like the furthestfrom the truth.
Like most of the pet ownersthat I know that have fresh
patch love their dog and so it'sjust like a plan b.
It's not like the main sourcethat they get to relieve
themselves it's just just incase.
Yeah, um, especially like forbusy dog parents like myself.
Drew (13:12):
Um, so I really appreciate
when people um leave positive
comments and it like overshadowsthose mean comments for sure,
yeah, definitely, and I thinkyeah, like you said, a lot of
people do claim fresh patchusers as bad parents, but it's
the total opposite.
I mean, this product wasliterally created for the
(13:34):
owner's dog, like he had his dogin mind first, like so, yeah,
it does suck on our end too.
Seeing comments like that, it'slike no, we're really trying to
make your dog's life at thebest it can be, you know, in any
way we can.
You know, providing that pottysolution if you're busy, if you
know you live in a high-rise,whatever it may be so yeah, no,
(13:54):
in my experience it's like, likesaid, it's been the total
opposite.
Gabe (13:57):
Like Fresh Patch is the
kind of product that parents who
go like above and beyond fortheir dogs get you know, like
you're trying to make sure that, even when you can't be there
for your dog, like your dog iscomfortable and to me, like you
know again, that's, that's theparent going above and beyond.
Drew (14:12):
Exactly, exactly.
Parent going above and beyondexactly, exactly yeah, and yeah,
overshadowing those hatecomments too.
I mean, you know I, you know, Ifeel you, I.
I don't know how you deal withthat.
Gabe (14:22):
It would make me feel bad
honestly, I feel like people on
social media sometimes likethey're just angry, they're
looking, they're looking to likestir some trouble up and they
think they're better thaneverybody.
So they want to show that.
I think it's like they see fivea five second clip and they're
better than everybody, so theywant to show that.
Tanya (14:35):
I think it's like they
see five a five second clip and
they're like automatically makean assumption about you um, but
if they see, but they if theysee the entire life of bruno
like he is well loved, wellcared for, spoiled pup exactly.
Drew (14:48):
Yeah, yeah, yeah so
they'll take those comments back
real quick if they did actuallysee.
I know it does suck to you knowthey see five seconds.
Oh, the bad dog parent, youhave grass in your house or
whatever it's just like yeah, the the most common.
Oh, take your dog on a walk, like you know, that one really
grinds my gears sometimes.
I'm like so check out our walk, your dog leash and collar set on
(15:10):
freshpatchcom, because we dosupport walks here at fresh
patch.
We're not here to say don't goon walks, all right.
So, like Tanya, it's just forthose in between, you know,
really show your dog that youappreciate them, you're looking
out for them, even if you can'talways be there for them.
So thank you for that, and Iknow we talked about it earlier
too, but we tried to help outwith and it actually lined up
(15:33):
perfectly with all those hatecomments you received for
rolling up the grass withoutgloves.
Okay, whatever, well, we cameout.
Yeah, my bad.
Gabe (15:44):
She washes her hands, guys
, I'll do her to here first.
Yes, exactly.
Drew (15:49):
But we did come out with a
product the Fresh and Clean Kit
that helps people out, like you, to not get those hate comments
anymore.
Hopefully.
We do provide gloves andcleaning cloths in this kit, so
don't hate on tanya anymore um,she's a good parent.
She's a good parent she's gotgloves now so, don't worry, the
hands are clean, it's all good.
(16:11):
So, um, but yeah, appreciateyour insight on that.
That's um a big thing withsocial media that obviously we
deal with and a lot of creatorsprobably do with too.
Gabe (16:20):
So totally and I I hope,
like some people who are
thinking about, you know, becoming a dog influencer but
like you know I have questionsor concerns maybe about that
sort of stuff can watch this andkind of get a little bit more
like peace of mind about it.
Drew (16:33):
So exactly appreciate that
.
Yep, so awesome pass.
Gabe (16:37):
Yeah, you gave definitely
so let's end on a little bit of
a lighter note, since we uh, youknow, just got a little down
and dirty yeah um, yeah, withthose hate comments, yes, um, so
what is your very best memory?
Drew (16:50):
uh, with bruno I know this
is tough, it's tough.
Gabe (16:56):
I know, yeah, yeah, hate,
to put you on the spot.
Drew (16:59):
If you need to give us
three, go for it, okay.
Tanya (17:01):
If you know me, bruno and
I are literally like attached
to the hip, like he's everywherewith me.
I would take him to work, but Ican't.
But, um, he's uh.
So the top three give me asecond because it's gonna be
hard.
Okay, I think for me, the topthree memories so far have been
(17:25):
celebrating his birthday, sohe's now two.
Gabe (17:28):
Um happy, belated bruno
his first birthday.
Tanya (17:32):
Um, we invited some
friends and so it's just really
nice to like get together andlike be with other pet parents
and like celebrate dogs, becauseI feel like dogs need to be
celebrated.
Like it's so weird, like when Itell people like, oh yeah, I
went to this dog's party, it'slike wait, what I?
know that's become such morecommon thing and, being in the
pet space to have noticed thattoo, I'm like, yeah, this is
(17:53):
birthday, dog birthdays exactly,it's the thing so, yeah, so
you'll catch me at a dogbirthday party, um, but so the
first two would probably be hisbirthdays and then I think the
other one would probably be, um.
When we went to san franciscoand we just got to hang out in
the city and um, bruno had ablast and there was a bunch of
(18:14):
other like doodles there, soit's kind of fun to do that and
they're super pet friendly, soit was really nice that's
awesome.
Gabe (18:22):
I always think about that.
Like man, I want my dog to seethe world, you know, like he's
only got this amount of time.
Like I'm taking them on a tripto europe and all that, but like
in reality, like I feel likethey just want to be home, you
know, like they're comfortableat the end of the day yeah, it's
like I'll just I mean our dogshere, oh last hour of the day?
Drew (18:41):
yeah, they are sitting by
the door or barking at us like
it's time to go as soon as weget up, they're like oh, we're
leaving, we're leaving.
Gabe (18:47):
We're out of here Every
time Be completely knocked out,
but so excited to get here.
That's the thing, oh my gosh.
When I don't take Oliver likemy dog to work, he throws an
absolute fit.
He sees me putting my socks onand he's like what are you doing
?
Drew (19:03):
My leash isn't on yet.
Oakley, same way.
Tanya (19:05):
Yeah, dogs just really
want to be with you.
Yeah, that's really the bigthing for sure, whether that's
at home or at the beach oranywhere.
Drew (19:15):
Really so bruno travels
with you everywhere yeah, he
does has he been on a flight?
Have you guys got anywhere?
Tanya (19:20):
we're working on that one
, so if you noticed, he barks a
lot so um, that's gonna be atough one.
Drew (19:26):
Yeah, with the flight yeah
, for sure, got to give them a
little cbd or something beforeyou put it in there.
Calm down, yeah, calm down.
Tanya (19:34):
I think, our first flight
if we go.
Drew (19:36):
We're probably going to go
to the east coast, so oh, super
fun, nice, what part of theeast coast um new york, new york
, of course you gotta get.
Gabe (19:44):
He would fit right in
there.
He's a high energy pup city, never sleeps, neither, neither
does.
Drew (19:48):
Bruno, yeah, concrete
jungle where dreams are made.
Gabe (19:53):
There's nothing you can't
do.
Drew (19:56):
That's going to be Bruno.
That's going to be Bruno in thecity.
Well, we're excited to see thatcontent Absolutely.
I think that'll be a nice.
Gabe (20:02):
