(00:21):
Fo Show.

Knot 2 Serious Intro Song (00:41):
From the woods to backwoods podcast
welcome to the show.

Tex LaFon (00:50):
Your cheeks look like my back that I just shaved
yesterday.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (00:55):
Oh, that's great.

Tex LaFon (01:00):
My barber shaved my back and then glued the hair to
my face.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (01:05):
Your barber's talented.
She fucks me up.

Tex LaFon (01:09):
Hey, don't be talking about my senior frog's head.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podc (01:13):
That's from.

Tex LaFon (01:13):
Mexico.
Okay, son Viva Mexico.

D VAz (01:19):
The next topic we're going to talk about would be
comedic movie actors.
Matt, who do you have lined upfor your list?

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (01:29):
I forgot.
I'm still starting first, soI'm going to get that, yeah,
first to last.
That's true.
I'm going to get the first one,the easy one, out of the way,
because you know I mentionedcoming to America a little bit
earlier.
My first one is Eddie Murphyand you know when you think
about body of work, right Likehis movies in the 80s are in my

(01:54):
top movies.
You know, trading Places, beverly Hills, cop, coming to
America Like dude wasunstoppable in the 80s and then
in the 90s well, I don't knowman, so he started his he, yeah
he, but he had norbit in the 90s, which is kind of underrated.

Tex LaFon (02:12):
You know, I give you that that was good.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (02:15):
He had shrek shrek, isn't it?
You know, would not be the samewithout eddie murphy as donkey
right, he had daddy daycare, Ithink early 2000s, and he was
kind of coming back.
You know he took a little dipin the 90s.
Beverly Hills cop 3 was kind ofrough, but you know he he's
coming back again.
I thought the new one was sharp, I thought it was, I thought it

(02:37):
was nice that's what I'm saying.

Tex LaFon (02:38):
It was excellent.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (02:39):
I liked it yeah yeah, it was a
good time it was the same kindof you know story that
pointlessly brought him toBeverly Hills, and then it was a
good time.
It was the same kind of youknow story that pointlessly
brought him to beverly hills, and then it was basically grand
theft auto.
Eddie murphy, you know what Imean.
He's just, he's flying copters,he's driving tanks, like, okay,
that's fine, I'll take it,let's.
You know, as long as he's doinga shtick I'm good, but you know

(03:01):
he's, he's, you know, gone upand down and up and down he
falls, comes back and, uh, youknow, I love everything he does.
I think eddie is phenomenal.

D VAz (03:12):
I do have to mention I was gonna say real quick, one of
my favorite all-time moves, uh,and happens to be at eddie
murphy movie harlem knights.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (03:22):
Oh, so underrated, so underrated.

D VAz (03:25):
Yeah, so underrated.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podc (03:26):
Harlem Nights.
He's got Richard Pryor with him.

D VAz (03:29):
Right, yeah, yeah.

Matt - Atomic Skull P (03:31):
Fantastic .

D VAz (03:33):
Yeah, Red Fox in that one , yeah just so many great
comedians in that one movie.
So if you haven't seen HarlemNights, definitely check that
out.
Yeah.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podc (03:41):
Harlem Nights is great, but I think
none of them can even compare tothe great classic Vampire in
Brooklyn.

Rob O'Dic (03:49):
We guys know about Vampire in Brooklyn.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podc (03:52):
That's another one.

Tex LaFon (03:53):
I've seen parts of.

D VAz (03:54):
I've seen parts of it.

Tex LaFon (03:58):
You should skip it, though you could skip that and
also, nothing can compare to theheist oh tower heist yeah,
heist right.
Yeah, I thought tower heist wasall right.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (04:14):
I thought tower heist was okay not
not as not his greatest moment, but you know it was, it was, it
was okay he, he tried, you knowhe he had his.
He had his like dramatic momentwhere he was in Dreamgirls and
he was great Wrong crowd musical, sorry, but he had a couple of

(04:34):
things where he was good.
But now that he's getting backinto comedy again I just want to
get him on a stage, get himback doing stand-up, but
otherwise I'm really glad he'skind of going back home and
doing the things that you knowgot him famous.
I think that's really great.
I love every, I love all thecomedy stuff he does.

Tex LaFon (04:51):
I think he's awesome yeah, I agree with you.
Like I said, um, you know, Iwas really curious about the new
, uh beverly hills cop that cameout, um axel foley, and uh it
was good.
Like I mean I said, said I wassurprised at how good it was.
It made me laugh a lot and Iwasn't even drinking, so that's
a win-win right there that's thebrawmer.

(05:16):
Now the rating system for me itis so my first uh um comedy
actor would be, uh, martinlawrence, and I said I liked him
and a lot of stuff, like I said, especially from the tv show to

(05:39):
uh black.
Was it black nights?
Is that what it was?
For sure that was the movie.
And then, uh, you go to uh badboys.
Like I love the role he playsin bad boys.
I said uh they definitely knowhow to be a partner off, partner
off each other.
So, like I said, it's, it'sreally good how they go back and

(06:01):
forth.

D VAz (06:07):
And it's really good how they go back and forth and, like
I, said, he's always beenreally funny to me.

Tex LaFon (06:12):
There's also the movie was it Life?

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (06:13):
Oh yeah, that was good, and Eddie
Murphy's in there too.
Son and Eddie Murphy, how did Imiss that?
Tied it all together.
Steve, y'all, I'm not the movieguy either.
You make me do shots of bourbonand then I start slipping.

Tex LaFon (06:23):
Matt, I know how you forgot about that.
You're thinking of D-Vaz mom.

D VAz (06:35):
And that life, I guess.

Tex LaFon (06:40):
It's okay, man.
Your mom was a looker.
Okay, there's nothing wrongwith that.

D VAz (06:47):
At least you said it with an L, not an H comedy.
That was good comedic movieactors circling back, bringing
it full circle now with MichaelKeaton.
I told you that's your man,Kersh.
Between him and Jack Nicholson,I guess it's kind of tough.

(07:10):
Those are probably the two youknow, a lot of movies, a lot of
roles, but anyway, you can'thandle the truth, I can handle
Jack Nicholson.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (07:21):
Wow , oh damn Wow.
Someone isolate that vocal andpost it.

Tex LaFon (07:31):
Yeah.
Make sure you put anexclamation on that sir.

D VAz (07:37):
There's so much that I'm about to edit out.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (07:39):
A little dash.
Underneath that says D-Vaz,underneath, with the quotes on
it.

D VAz (07:44):
Yeah, that was too funny I'll just put that short part as
the whole episode and be likethat's it here it is here.
There's the episode.
Forget all the other stuff werecorded and I'm not
unsympathetic man.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (07:55):
I'll do all you know, I'm a straight
man.
But I'll do awful things tochris evans, but jack nicholson
d come on man.

D VAz (08:02):
Jack nicholson, oh my god , I man Jack Nicholson, oh my
god, I guess I'd have to figureat his age I won't have to
really do anything at this point.
He won't really do anythingeither, right, yeah, so we'll
just kind of sit there and belike I like your movies and I'll
walk out.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (08:17):
Yeah , just clean up a little bit of
drool on each side and then youcan just walk out of there side
and then you can just walk outof there.

D VAz (08:23):
Oh my god, so you like the Lakers?
Great, I'm leaving.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (08:28):
Yeah , you might get some free Lakers
tickets out of it, man, younever know.
As long as we're playing theSuns, I'll go.

Rob O'Dic (08:34):
I've done worse for less.

Tex LaFon (08:37):
Both garbage teams.

D VAz (08:38):
I don't sports, I don't care.
He's a Spurs fan.
That's why he's saying that.

Tex LaFon (08:45):
Oh, got it.
I don't sports, I don't care.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (08:47):
Yeah , he's a Spurs fan.
That's why he's saying that.

D VAz (08:50):
So I'll go with whatever Barkley has to say about that.

Tex LaFon (08:53):
Yeah, churros Okay.

D VAz (08:54):
Right Sports, sports stuff, basketball, all right.
So back to Michael Keaton.
Yeah, we got sidetracked for asecond.
Yeah, there are a lot of moviesthat he started off with in
comedy uh, mr mom, johnnydangerously dream team, of

(09:15):
course, the larger ones likebeetlejuice, but uh, even batman
had some funny moments.
Uh, when I go back and re-watchit it's like, oh yeah, there,
there's some really funny thingsin there too.
But he's great at doing both, either comedic or dramatic roles
.
That's the other thing about it.
You can switch it up but thenbring it back or drop even some

(09:38):
funny lines into a dramatic role.
So yeah.
I just think he's reallyversatile and he's the kind of
sneaky funny.
He's funny.
You don't really think aboutthe other thing.
That's kind of funny about it.
Yeah, is he actually startedoff in stand-up comedy?

Rob O'Dic (09:52):
did really.

D VAz (09:53):
Yeah, it makes sense yeah but of course movies paid the
bills, so he didn't really goback to it.
I don't blame him yeah, well Idon't blame him either.

Tex LaFon (10:04):
I mean, he said he was a top actor, so of course.
Why would you go back to it?
I don't blame him.
Yeah well, I don't blame himeither.
I mean, he said he was a topactor, so of course, why would
you go back?
I?

D VAz (10:08):
don't know.
That's why it's I.
It's funny me.
So many people think of him asbatman, and rightfully so, but
there's so many other comedies, like I mentioned earlier too, of
course, multiplicity, which ismy, my favorite comedy of his.
Um, yeah, the those movieswould be very different with
somebody else starring in therole and, yeah, probably not as

(10:28):
funny, for sure.

Tex LaFon (10:31):
I was going to send you that message about a movie I
just seen with him and heactually directed it.
It was the Knox Goes Away.
You gotta watch it.
It was really good on max.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (10:44):
I heard about it.

Tex LaFon (10:45):
I was really surprised, it was really good
does he play a superhero in it?
No, I don't want to tell youwhat it is, because then you'll
uh be like damn.
It wasn't as good as birdcage, but it was good okay, I love
birdman, birdman, that's what itwas.

D VAz (11:05):
Birdman I love it.
I love birdman very differentmovies.

Rob O'Dic (11:11):
But yes, I'm doing it back to back.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (11:13):
I'm doing a double feature tonight.
Birdcage and Birdman together.
That's going to be the bestnight ever, right?

Tex LaFon (11:20):
I like Birdman a lot.
I thought it was really good.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (11:24):
Yeah , love Birdman.

Tex LaFon (11:26):
So what do you got Matt?

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (11:28):
Oh, it's mine again, so this is
actually perfect.
Speaking of the Birdcage, youknow If you're talking about
full body of work, someone whomakes you laugh, someone and
someone who would go all the waydoing it, huge shout out to
robin williams, who is a legend.

(11:50):
Man was a legend on the stage.
He was a legend on the screen.
You know he did legend on thescreen.
You know he did TV.
He did Mork and Mindy andconquered that instantly.
You know, conquered stand upcomedy to the point where
everyone else who was great atthe time would come see him to
Garp where he did a phenomenaljob.

(12:11):
And then every comedy he didafter that was just better than
the last one that he did.
You know you can't watch MrsDoubtfire and not be in a good
mood, true?

VANN - AI Tec-O-Rama (12:23):
You know what I mean, mrs Doubtfire is
one of the greats.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (12:27):
Good Morning Vietnam is one of the
greats.
But then also even his dramaticroles.
You know Good Will Hunting hewon an Academy Award for drama
but he was still hysterical inthat movie.
You know the comedy parts inthat movie.
Even though he was playing thisreally sad, you know
psychologist he was still so, sofunny.
And Jumanji Flubber I mean, when you think about just

(12:49):
everything that he did, he wasalways making you laugh with
everything all the time and Imiss that man legend I agree.

Tex LaFon (13:00):
There was one movie I'm trying to remember is that
what it was called but where, um, he was the serial killer and
um, uh, what's his name was alpacino.
Was the good guy, the detective?
Yeah, so that's one hour photo.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (13:16):
Yeah , no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
, no, no no no, no, no, no, no,no, no, no, no no no, no
cappuccino, because that was, uh, the second movie that chris
nolan directed after memento, and that was him.
It was in alaska, where itnever got dark that's right yeah

(13:40):
, he was messed up in that movie, okay and then after that was
one hour photo and that one waseven weirder man, but dude could
slide into anything he played.

Rob O'Dic (13:50):
He could do any role.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (13:54):
Well , you know, I, just I, you know,
my grandmother actually took meto see birdcage lacaja full
when it was, you know, playingat a theater in san francisco.
And then we saw the movie thebirdcage and just he did such
the like, a phenomenal job.
Birdcage is one of the bestmovies in the 90s.
Man, it's so underrated.
But robin williams, just youknow, took that movie and lifted

(14:15):
it to the stratosphere agreed,agreed.

Tex LaFon (14:19):
Yeah, so my uh second one is gonna be uh jim carrey,
like he said, you know can't gowrong from in living color to uh
, you know, dumb, to Dumb andDumber.
My favorite role that he everdid was the first Ace Ventura.
I love that movie it's like yousaid especially when you have

(14:42):
people talking out of their assafter he did it.
Everybody did it, he did it,and then everybody did it Yep,
and remember lace is out, damnit.

D VAz (14:54):
Remember Lace is out, damn it, lace is out okay right
yeah, it was definitely themovie that set off his career
and made him a huge star, forsure, yeah like I said, he

(15:15):
always does bad on sequels likethat freaking ace.

Matt - Atomic Skull Pod (15:17):
Ventura 2 was garbage, but you know,
like dumb and dumber 2 garbagegood point, but I mean that run
that he had man, he ace venturathe mask dumb and dumber.
Batman returns the cable guy, which is totally underrated.

Rob O'Dic (15:35):
I agree, liar, liar liar.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (15:39):
Liar was fantastic, like just
everything that dude did.
Yeah, everything he did wasjust made me laugh don't forget
about yes man oh yes, man, greatmovie, oh good, so good and
great, I mean like how, howgreat would it be going around
saying yes to everything thatshit.

Tex LaFon (15:59):
It was just great, dude that was terrifying.

D VAz (16:04):
Sounds.

Tex LaFon (16:04):
Sounds like so good about the movie because I and I
love how he rolled up and allthem Red Bulls came out of his
car and he's like, oh, shitagain we're not Red Bull.
So calm down, red Bull, okay.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (16:20):
I feel like you identify with that
quite a bit yeah, there wasalso Bruce Almighty.

D VAz (16:28):
Bruce Almighty yeah, that was.

Tex LaFon (16:31):
That was what I really liked and then he did a
great job in sonic too, you know, yeah, he did he did really
really good.
It makes me sad I said, I thinkhe's just a great, great um
actor.
Like I said, he made me laugh alot.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (16:46):
No drinking required oh he it's
effortless with his comedy, likehe just it's like he doesn't
even have to try.
You know what I mean and I Ienvy and admire that so much.

D VAz (16:59):
It was also interesting seeing him, and I I like this
movie a lot too.
Man on the moon.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (17:05):
Oh, yeah, yeah.

D VAz (17:06):
Portrayed Andy Kaufman.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (17:08):
Who I love.

D VAz (17:09):
Yeah, same here.
Huge Andy Kaufman fan, so itwas really interesting to me
seeing him in that type of roleand doing his own take on all
that stuff.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (17:21):
May have made him a little crazy.
Taking that role may have puthim a little bit over the edge,
because he was close anyway, buthe still did a great job.
He channeled Andy Kaufman, Ithink, better than anyone else
on the planet could have agreed.

Tex LaFon (17:39):
So what do you got d-maz all right.

D VAz (17:44):
Next one I have leslie nielsen.
He started off as a seriousdramatic actor actor, yeah, had
a lot of different types ofroles, more of a character actor
type of person in the 60s and70s, things like that, but
that's when he started changing, also in the 70s.

(18:05):
We mentioned Airplane earlier,so he was in that.
Don't call him Shirley, butPolice Squad that series naked
gun um underrated movies.
I really like him in the melbrooks movie dracula dead and

(18:25):
loving it oh, that was a goodmovie, so that's yeah, that's.
That's a great movie and a lotof people don't really know
about it.
It just wasn't really promotedor a really popular movie at the
time.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (18:36):
Damn shame, man.
Damn shame because it was sucha great flick.

D VAz (18:40):
Yeah, some really great skits in that.
He also if you've seenCreepshow, he was in that too.

Knot 2 Serious Intro Song (18:50):
I didn't see.

D VAz (18:51):
Creepshow Comedy stuff.
Yeah, he wasn't doing comedystuff but uh, it was just kind
of interesting seeing him domore of that that dramatic uh
stuff in that.
That's one of the later roleswhere he did that.
But yeah, he had other uh spoofcomedies that he was in.
Later on too he was also in,was it?
Uh, mr magoo, I didn't reallywatch that, it wasn't really on

(19:13):
my radar, but I know he was inthat later on too.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (19:21):
I did see Lafon's mom in Peep Show
.

Tex LaFon (19:23):
I do remember that one.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (19:25):
That cost you double.
Yeah, if I remember correctly,I think she looked like Leslie
Nielsen.

D VAz (19:31):
Right and she took a double.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (19:34):
Oh shit.

D VAz (19:41):
That was funny.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (19:43):
No, donkeys were harmed, not in
that movie anyway.
Right.

Tex LaFon (19:49):
But, uh, yeah, it's.
I was gonna say my favoritemovies that he was in would be
the naked gun.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (19:56):
Oh my God, yeah, 100 percent.

D VAz (19:59):
Yeah, those, those definitely made him kind of a
movie star in that sense, especially for those types of
roles.
It's funny too he gives us allhope who are a little bit older,
maybe want to make a careerchange gives us all hope.

Knot 2 Serious Intro Song (20:15):
Who are?

D VAz (20:15):
a little bit older, maybe want to make a career change so
he's able to successfully gofrom dramatic roles to comedic
roles and everything.
So, yeah, it can work.
Did it all in the third act, right?

VANN - AI Tec-O-Rama (20:29):
We apologize for interrupting this.
Well, whatever this rubbish is,is this supposed to be a

It's really a pathetic excusefor these people to talk about
the nonsense that brings theirquestionable existence joy.

We're here to get rid of life's drama
, all right, oh, is it me, it'sme, it's you.
All right, so third one oh boy,I've got a list.
You know, it just kind ofdepends on my mood.
Um, quick shout out to genewilder, who almost made it, but
you know, not quite, because Iknow.
Uh, you know, I listened in.
A couple episodes ago youtalked, talked about Blazing
Saddles.
You kind of covered thatalready.
But if we're talking aboutfavorites versus the best, I

(22:38):
grew up with this dude and I sawhim excel over everyone on
Saturday Night Live, went intomultiple like comedy trilogies
that he did and then some.
But I love Mike Myers.
I love him so much.
Love him in Wayne's world.
I love him in Austin powers.

(22:58):
Loved him in in gloriousbastards.
I loved him in.
So I married an ax murderer, very underrated, but his stuff
is always good.
He kind of does the same jokesno matter what.
But how do you watch any austinpowers movie and not lose it?
and some of the greatest stuffI've ever seen.

(23:19):
And shrek I mean, you know he.
I chris farley was the originalshrek and I've heard some of
his vocal stuff and it soundedgreat.
But mike myers is gonna beshrek to me forever, you know he
it wouldn't be.
Shrek without him.
Yeah, so I just I loveeverything Mike Myers does.
I can go back to Wayne's worldand Austin powers anytime.

Tex LaFon (23:42):
Yeah, I agree with you, I like Austin powers more
than Wayne's world.
But Austin powers is so good, especially when I like it, when
Goldmember, when he's like Goldand he's eating his own skin, I
mean like what the hell?
You know what I'm?

Matt - Atomic Skull Podc (24:00):
saying I have this terrible habit
where I gross out my wife, mybeautiful wife, mrs
What's-her-name.
Whenever I get a sunburn orsomething which happens all the
time in Arizona I'll peel myskin or something and I'll bring
it to her and I'll be like here, put this in the skin box, and

(24:22):
she hates it so much.
So obviously I do it everychance I get.

Tex LaFon (24:29):
I hear you man.
That's funny.
Like I said, said I definitelylike Mike Myers definitely good
choice.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (24:34):
Yeah , I hope he makes another Austin
Powers he talks about it a lotyeah, I heard there's supposed
to be a Shrek project coming up,correct.

D VAz (24:43):
Anybody heard about that?

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (24:45):
yeah , next year, I think summer 2025
but they all committed to doingit, so that's pretty sweet and
a D-Vaz mom project coming uptoo.

Tex LaFon (24:50):
Year, I think, Summer 2025.
But they all committed to doingit, so that's pretty sweet and
a D-Vaz Mom project coming uptoo.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podc (24:56):
Sounds very Shrexy.

D VAz (24:59):
Yeah, it's a project with Donkey.

Knot 2 Serious Intro Song (25:02):
Oh my god.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (25:02):
Just one conversation One
conversation with you withouttalking about donkeys.
That's all I ask.
Is that just too much?
It is too much to ask.

D VAz (25:13):
Yes.

Tex LaFon (25:14):
My next one is John C Rowley.
Oh man, he is so funny to me.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (25:23):
Yeah , he's so good.

Tex LaFon (25:25):
From the Perfect Storm to, you know, talladega
Nights.
Step Brothers, you know, deweyCox, walk Hard.
Walk Hard is such a classic likeI said, he is so funny to me
and I said him and Will Ferrellthey're like the perfect pair

(25:48):
when they make a movie together.
You know what I'm saying.
But he just cracks me up.
Like I said in Step Brothers, I, him and will Ferro they're
like the perfect pair when theymake a movie together.
You know what I'm saying.
But he just cracks me up and I,like I said, in stepbrothers
all the jokes he makes, I justdie.
He's just too funny.
And I said to me I just, Ithink he's.
I think he's as funny or evenmore funnier than will.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podca (26:09):
Ferro .

D VAz (26:10):
In my opinion his timing is so good, everything he does
lands just perfect yeah, yeah,he's just the other thing too,
and Will Ferrell has masteredthis also, but both of them
being able to deliver just thecraziest lines and not laugh or
break character, that'sdefinitely a talent.
Super human for being able todo that, for sure deliver just

(26:31):
the craziest lines and not laughor break character.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podc (26:32):
That's definitely a talent.
Super human, yeah, super humanfor being able to do that for
sure.
I agree the opposite of JimmyFallon Anti-Fallon.

D VAz (26:41):
Right To the anti-Fallon.

Tex LaFon (26:42):
Like you said, one of the best lines ever is did we
just become best friends?

D VAz (26:50):
Mm-hmm yeah Movies are classic.
I won't repeat what I said lasttime you mentioned that.

Tex LaFon (26:56):
Yeah, your mom was my best friend, you're right.

D VAz (27:06):
No Matt, if you missed it .

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (27:07):
I said what are you doing, stepbro
?
But anyway, what?

D VAz (27:14):
Anyway, so anyway.
So are you all good on thatthen?
Lavon or you still haveanything else to add oh no, I'm
good bro alright, okay, so mythird, probably actually my most
influential in a way, isGroucho Marx, and I have my dad

(27:37):
to blame for this.

Tex LaFon (27:39):
I have no idea who that is.

D VAz (27:43):
You may at some point.
If not, I'll help you learnlater on.
Yeah, have you ever seen likeat the halloween stores where
they had the crazy lookingglasses, big old nose and a
mustache?

Tex LaFon (27:55):
well, yeah, that's what I wear when I.

D VAz (27:56):
Yeah, that's you know, get with your mom I'm sure she's
into that kind of role playing.
And you bring a cigar and I'mnot gonna get into that but
anyway, um very, verypresidential of you very
presidential right anyway thatthat look is actually based on
groucho marx.
So okay in a roundabout way.

(28:18):
You are aware of who he is.
So he was a very famous actor.
Him and his brothers were inthe marx brothers movies, uh,
starting off way back in the 30sand going on uh until about the
50s or so.
He also was a host of a tvshows and things like that.

(28:38):
Um, one of the reasons why hewas in movies and also the show,
uh, his lines.
He would just have the craziestthings that he would save to
say to people but the amazingthing was and you saw this in
the tv shows, they were recordedlive.
This was just him interactingwith people and speaking, so he
could absolutely ad lib linesand be really funny.

(29:00):
But of course, in the movies,um, when you have the lines and
you could test them out, he hadsome great lines in the movies
too.
Uh, just almost a cartoonishtype of personality.
Yeah, um, famous movies like,uh, duck soup, animal crackers,
a night at the opera none ofthese titles will give you any
idea what movies are about.

(29:21):
No, so go watch the movies, uh,if you can.
But he, he's just famous forhis look, how he'd move around
and and how he was actuallyreally talented too.
Him and his brothers, they allstart off as vaudeville actors,
and if you're not familiar withvaudeville, go do a Google

(29:41):
search.
I'm not going to try to explainthat.
So they all interacted witheach other in the movies and
everything and just doingcompletely crazy stuff.
That was way ahead of theirtime as far as the types of
jokes, um, but if you see someof their clips, you'll, or watch
these movies, you'll you'll seesome of the things that they

(30:04):
influence later on for movies oror skits that people were
inspired by or influenced by.
Uh, with the marx brothers.
Like there's a really famousscene where a groucho marx and
his brother harpo they're infront of each other and they're
mirroring each other.
They're dressed alike, yeah,and they're, they're pretending
like they're in a mirror, basically, yep, so I want to get

(30:26):
.
Don't want to give too too muchaway, but I mean they do it
such a great job, especiallyback then you had to actually
act it out.
There weren't effects or thingsto save you, so that just shows
you how great they wereperforming and having their
timing down too.
So, yeah, huge influence on me.
Just really funny, uh wit, withthe way he would speak.

(30:46):
But again, could do physicalcomedy and just really catch
people off guard with the insanethings that they would do in
their movies.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (30:54):
They said well ahead of its time the
types of jokes they would dowould absolutely fill in, fit
into tiktok videos or short forshort form videos nowadays I
think groucho marx is one of thegreat physical actors in
history Because some of theirmovies they didn't have lines,

(31:15):
they didn't have the luxury ofbeing able to speak.
So you know, just his physicalcomedy is unmatched.
What you know about GrouchoMarx, tex.

Tex LaFon (31:28):
I don't know much until Daryl just told me about
the famous glasses and nose thatyou can get at the Halloween
store.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (31:37):
If you were to like, if you were to
Google his name, you'd look atit, I'd be like, oh, I'm pretty
sure I've seen him somewhere.
You know what I mean.
Like it's one of those onesyou've seen it, but you don't
know.
You've seen it.

Tex LaFon (31:47):
No, I got you.

Matt - Atomic Skull Po (31:53):
Probably you know you never seen his
movies, but you're like nah, he,you know, I, I I've seen his
stuff at some point.
He's he's the one whoinfluenced the person that you
love.
You know what I mean.
Like he, like jim carreywouldn't exist without groucho
marx, you know so he's just he's.
He's a very important, very, very important back in the day.

Tex LaFon (32:11):
Nice.

D VAz (32:14):
Yeah, so we'll have to.
I'll send you some stuff tocheck out and for the rest of
you I said, check out thosemovies in general Duck Soup,
animal Crackers, horse Feathers, night at the Opera.
There's so many.
I will say this Some of thejokes are a bit old fashioned

(32:35):
and there are some of the moviesthat have a lot of musical
numbers.
So if you like musical numbers, great.
If you don't, you know eitherbear with it or skip through it
the musical part up to you, yeah, but the actual jokes and the
stories and stuff like that, that's, that's what you want to
watch, because they just getreally crazy.

(32:57):
They do things you absolutelywould not expect yeah one other
thing that I I do have to saythat that is kind of funny.
A lot of people describe someof the jokes or humor that he
would have is dad jokes.
So the only I don't want to sayissue, but the only thing my
thought on that is sometimespeople dismiss those as cheesy

(33:19):
or not really funny or whatever.
But you know, they absolutelycan be.
I think what people maybesometimes think about are, you
know, the recycled ones or kindof the low-hanging fruit ones,
but they can have somedifferences to them and how
they're delivered and whatthey're about and things like

(33:41):
that.
So, yeah, groucho Marx masteredthat and is probably the you
know the origin, what peoplethink of when they think of dad
jokes.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (33:50):
But uh, I think it goes well beyond
that you know, coming fromthree old guys, it's hard for us
to be objective when it comesto dad jokes.
You know what I mean, becausejokes that we think are just
basically funny.
You know, some youngwhippersnapper is going to come
up be like oh, what a dad joke.
But it's not a dad joke, it'smore just an easy joke, and it

(34:12):
doesn't.
As long as it makes you laugh,it doesn't really matter what
kind of joke it is.

D VAz (34:18):
I don't know if I would say necessarily easy, because
certain ones again thought hasto go into it.
Especially when you're playingaround with the words or, you
know, coming up with somethingthat's out of left field that
people wouldn't associatecertain words with, I'll get too
much into it.
But, um, yeah, because nowwe're gonna start dissecting
comedy, which we're not gonna gogo there on this.

(34:40):
But yeah it is.
It is one of those things where,um, to me, it's all about the
effort and the creativity.
So, yeah, you hear the same old, recycled ones, those I would
maybe consider dad jokes becausethey're your dad.
You're gonna hear your dadsaying they're passed on from
one dad to another.
But yeah, I'm talking aboutmore the the creative side, or,

(35:02):
uh, that style humor in a sense, but in in a different way,
because because that's the otherthing too if you watch some of
the marx brothers lie or MarxBrothers movies and hear the
lines, for that time is some ofit is pretty, pretty raunchy
actually, and if you translateit into modern day terms, the
joke would sound very different.

(35:24):
So, yeah, that's the otherthing too.
A lot of people think dad jokeshave to be pure clean.
No, they definitely could besome other things too.
A lot of people think dad jokeshave to be pure clean.
No, they definitely could besome other things too.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (35:35):
All right, yo fellas, you see that
lady's ankle over there.
That's pretty hot, Pretty hot.

Rob O'Dic (35:44):
When the conversation moves to hot ankles, it's time
to end the episode.
While it wasn't exactly amistake, devos didn't mention
the actual name of the TV showthat Groucho Marx hosted.
Groucho hosted you Bet yourLife from its debut in 1950
until its original run ended in1961.
As the host, he conductedhumorous and often offbeat

(36:06):
interviews with the contestants, engaging them in witty banter
and making the conversations acentral part of the show.
His interactions with thecontestants were known for their
sharp humor and often involvedplayful, sarcastic remarks.
Ah, that's where I learnedabout sarcasm during my research
.
His unique style and quick witwere integral to the show's

(36:27):
success, and his role extendedbeyond mere hosting to become a
central element of its charm andappeal.
By the way, ai Tech-O-Ramathought that they could slip
past me.
I noticed their attack on FromHoods to Backwoods podcast and I
vow to stop them.
Unfortunately, I am going upagainst a literal army of AI and
tech, with my battle buddiesbeing D-Voz and Tex Lafon.

(36:48):
While the fight certainly isn'tfair, I may be able to use
their human nature to myadvantage.
After all, ai may not be ableto predict their thought process
and unintentional mistakes.
Ah, you humans screwing up mayactually help me save the world
