D Vaz (02:34):
I'm going to go back and watch myself now.
You should, man, it's a treat.
So yeah, we wanted to switch itup and he's our very first
guest, so we're definitelyhonored to have him here.
Yeah, it's something we want todo for a while.
We knew it would be fun becausewe've been friends for a long

(02:55):
time personally, so figured thisis just another dynamic to add
to it.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (03:00):
Oh, always nice to add a third
right.

Tex LaFon (03:03):
Yes.

D Vaz (03:04):
So we have Tex Lafon here .
I will throw in there too.
We actually all worked at thesame place at one point in time
in some.
Marvel universe, apparently, but yeah yes, it was part of the
multiverse definitely thedarkest timeline back then Right

(03:27):
.
So I've traded in my rings, andhere we are.
Actually I meant stones.

Tex LaFon (03:37):
Sorry, I traded in my stones.

D Vaz (03:39):
You didn't say your precious Kidney and gall.
What you didn't say, yourprecious my precious precious no
no, yeah, that would be therings, lure the rings, but I
know that's uh lafon's favoriteyeah, it's garbage you like some
more than star wars, would youbelieve it?

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (03:54):
hell no, I one of the rules.
One of the rules that d gave meis I'm not allowed to talk
about Star Wars.
You don't like Star Wars.
You don't want to know, man,you don't want to know because I
know how much you love it.
I'm not here to talk any crap, nothing like that.

(04:15):
So, no, no, I mean, there'sthings I like.
Mandalorian is great, but oh,ask me later.
You should have not let me takea shot of

Tex LaFon (04:29):
bourbon man, we're just talking about the original
movies okay.
I like Empire Strikes Back alot Me too, because I am your
father.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (04:41):
I don't think you are, you are not
my mom's type.

D Vaz (04:53):
Touché, touché Alright, so let's get it back on the road
.
I guess, I broke down, but why?
So?
We're going to just kick it offwith a basic question that'll
be related to the theme of theshow today.
Uh, why do you like or I'msorry, what do you like about
comedies?
Oh, that's right, I gotta Ihave to go first.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (05:17):
I'm the guest, I have to go first.
Why?

Rob O'Dic (05:20):
are you guys, so why are you no?
No, why are you?

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (05:21):
guys so nice.
Why are you guys so nice?
Why are you guys so nice atmaking me go first?
So I love to laugh.
I love making people laugh.
You know not to get super realon it, but as somebody who lives
with like mental health issues, laughing is a little bit of a
vacation.
Whenever you're having a roughday, you know, whether you're

(05:43):
laughing a little bit or youknow one of those wheezing
things where you're hitting yourtable or something it's.
It's just like a nice littlevacation from whatever problem
you're having and it's just thatone little moment in your life
where it's impossible to becynical.
You know, and I, I, I lovelaughing for that reason.
So comedy is super important tome yeah, me too.

Tex LaFon (06:05):
I love laughing a lot and I just uh, my favorite
comedy is a raunchy comedy.
I said I just like, uh, thebest dirty jokes that they can
throw out there are the best, because it makes me laugh a lot.
And so that's why I said Idon't.
I don't like the slapstickcomedy that much.
It's okay, but the raunchycomedy is what makes me laugh a

(06:28):
lot.
And, like you said, it does itdoes make your uh day a lot
better, you know, but you knowdefinitely if you're having a
bad day, it can definitelychange it with laughing, so I
agree 100 what about?

D Vaz (06:40):
you yeah, I think that's something probably hits on for
for all of us.
It's something where you canget a little bit of escape,
especially if it's a greatcomedy.
You just forget about whateverelse is going on, you can just
laugh at it.
I like a lot of different typesof comedy.
I do like some physical, butdefinitely wordplay and other
things like that.
Yeah, for me it's all aboutdoing something different or

(07:05):
unique to it with the comedy.
So if it's something I haven'treally a joke, I haven't heard
especially I should say yeah.
Or something you don't expect.
Those are the types of things Ilike about comedy, too, because
it makes you think aboutsomething else, like your mom.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podca (07:20):
Which is great, but also, oh man,
your mom jokes are going to becoming in strong today.
Stronger than that bourbon, just real quick for you,
gentlemen, for everybody whomight be watching maybe less
listening but more watching myentire attendance today is
brought to you by coffee, soyou're going to see me drinking
coffee throughout the entireshow.

(07:41):
Coffee is my life.
It's in my blood more thananything else.
Coffee, music and laughterthat's, those are the three for
me, red bull's in my blood if Igo to the hospital they give me
iv for red bull, not blood, okayI?
get it?
No, I get it that's for sure.

Tex LaFon (08:00):
He daily, I would say at least right but we're not
sponsored by Red Bull, so we'reworking on it.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (08:08):
He actually sponsored Red Bull.
Yeah, putting some.
Red Bull kids through college.

D Vaz (08:16):
Right, alright, I think I'll need some coffee too,
because I'll probably be doing alot of editing.
Do it live.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (08:26):
Just do it live, just put it out.
Don't edit it, just throw itout live.

D Vaz (08:30):
Right Unedited, canceled.
For this episode we'll betalking about our top three
comedy movies that we like andwe'll kind of explain why and go
into all the details there.
But kicking us off will be ourguest matt.
So, matt, what is your pick andwhy?

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (08:53):
so if we're talking about comedy
movies and uh, I know, tex, youwere talking about you like the
raunchy ones, so so I came toplay today I came to play, so
that's my boy.
my number one favorite movie ofall time happens to be a raunchy
comedy from 1988 starring oneof my favorites, eddie murphy

(09:17):
coming to america, which is anabsolute masterpiece from
beginning to end.
Eddie and Arsenio Arsenio Hallplay off each other so well in
that movie.
The premise is actually prettygood and they they both play
different characters and it'sabout as raunchy as it gets.

(09:39):
Man, I love coming to America,so so much.
I'll put that on quote alongwith it, and it just feels like
home.

Tex LaFon (09:48):
Agree, that is a great comedy.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (09:50):
Yeah .

Tex LaFon (09:52):
Yeah, I definitely like that, Especially the scene.
I love how they change it fromMcDonald's to what's it called
again McDowell's.

Matt - Atomic Skull (10:01):
McDowell's .

Tex LaFon (10:05):
And I love how they use all that spray in their hair
and then everywhere they go itleaves a stain.
It's so great.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (10:13):
I have a Soul Glow poster in my
office that I am looking atright now.
Yeah, I love Coming to America, man.
That movie is just.
You know, eddie Murphy doingRandy Watson and Arsenio Hall
doing Reverend Brown is one ofthe best comedy scenes of all
time.
Fantastic, it's A-plus for me.

Tex LaFon (10:34):
I agree it's a really good choice.
My first one I'm going to startoff with is Old School, and the
reason why I like old school isyou know who hasn't been in
their late 20s, maybe early 30s,you know that wanted to start a
frat house and you know, trygetting everything back.

(10:58):
You know, especially after youhad a breakup, and you're like,
damn, you're feeling you know alittle south, and then you start
a fraternity and then bam, thenyou're like you're feeling you
know a little south and then youstart a fraternity and then bam
, then you're like that's my boy, blue.
You're my boy, blue, you're myboy and I said, and you know,
just you know it'd be a coolthing to happen.
But, like I, I like um oldschool a lot like that's one of

(11:21):
my favorite comedies, definitelyyeah for for me it's uh on my
long list of movies I haven'twatched all the way through so I
picked up bits and pieces of it.

D Vaz (11:33):
Definitely uh over the years and remember seeing the
scene about streaking and thingslike that.

Tex LaFon (11:41):
So, um, yeah, I like when they say it must be a cold
outside, huh, when he's tryingto get into the car, when they
all go drinking.
It's so funny.

D Vaz (11:53):
I'm sure there's a relatable moment for you.
That's why right.

Tex LaFon (11:57):
Hey, you know, when, the, when it's cold outside,
it's cold outside.
What are you going to do?

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (12:01):
bro Shrinkage, I know I know I was
going to say everyone here lovesSeinfeld.
I know that, so I'm sureshrinkage is a problem all
around for you boys.

Tex LaFon (12:10):
I like Seinfeld.
That's one of my favorite shows, so yeah.

Matt - Atomic Skull P (12:14):
Fantastic .

D Vaz (12:16):
And what about you, Matt?
What's your take on it?

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (12:20):
So I love Will Ferrell.
So I love Will Ferrell Like.
I like Will Ferrell in the waythat he's one of the people who
can do anything and it slidesright off of him.
You know, like a lot of actors,a lot of comedians, you know
them for one major, like basicthing, like you're like, oh,
that's the dude that does this, like he does, she does.

(12:41):
You know other stuff, but thisis the one thing I know him from
.
Will Ferrell doesn't have that.
Will Ferrell.
You can pick a bunch ofdifferent movies from him and
there's not one character thathe's done that really sticks.
Because my favorite thing thatWill Ferrell's done is Harry
Carey from Saturday Night Live.
Will Ferrell has that thingwhere he can kind of do it all.

(13:03):
I love that.
I love that about him.

Tex LaFon (13:07):
My favorite Will Ferrell movie would be Step
Brothers.

D Vaz (13:11):
Fantastic.
Good one, we've definitelymentioned Will Ferrell before
this.
I was going to say he had StepBrothers.
I had Talladega Nights that Imentioned.
It wasn't on one of my listsbut it definitely could have
been.

Tex LaFon (13:22):
You just like that shake and bake, don't you son?

D Vaz (13:26):
It's shake and bake and not help.

Tex LaFon (13:29):
Oh, that's something else.
Or baby Jesus, baby Jesus.

D Vaz (13:34):
Or being on fire in your imagination.
Yes, actually, it's just areally good cast in general in
that movie.
I think too.
But yeah, will Ferrell reallyreally sets the tone for the
movie, yep.

Tex LaFon (13:50):
I agree.

D Vaz (13:51):
Since I already mentioned Idiocracy and Blazing Saddles,
another one Great movies.
Yep, I'm going to kick it offwith something else, which is
Top Secret.
It's a movie seems like not toowell known from the 80s, but it
does star somebody who a lot ofpeople do know, which is val

(14:11):
kilmer.
It's one of his earlier, uh,leading roles.
So it's basically, uh, yeah, actually he may be known for
willow too.
Okay, nobody knows reallyWillow if they're under 40.
But anyway, that's true Top Gun.
There you go, that's one forsure.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (14:30):
Oh, Iceman.

D Vaz (14:31):
Iceman, all the way.
Yes, iceman, he's Iceman in TopGun.
You say Val.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podc (14:35):
Kilmer as if he was Batman dude, like
the dude was.

D Vaz (14:39):
Batman in Doc Holliday and Tombstone.

Tex LaFon (14:41):
One of my favorite movies, yep.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podc (14:42):
Killed it.
Killed it in.

Tex LaFon (14:43):
Tombstone.
That was probably his best role, I think, in Tombstone.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (14:47):
Duck Holiday yeah, yeah, 100%.

D Vaz (14:50):
Yeah, that was great, and even if you're older, you might
know him as Jim Morrison.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (14:58):
Oh yeah, the portrayal for that.

Tex LaFon (15:00):
The doors.
Yeah, all right, I take it backthat the Doors yeah, All right,
I take it back.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podc (15:02):
That's probably his best role because
he nailed Jim Morrison man.

Tex LaFon (15:07):
He did, but I still like him as Doc Holliday.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (15:13):
For me, Doc is a close second, so
I'm right there so for thatcovers all the people over 50
anyway.

D Vaz (15:21):
Um, but yeah if your knees hurt right now, while
you're listening to this, youcompletely understand everything
we're saying right, you knowall that stuff uh, but top
secret it's a parody of spymovies and it takes place, um,
in germany.
Dog camera plays basically anelvis type of character, so he's

(15:41):
like a rock and roll star andhe goes over there and he's
trying to get information on thenazis.
You know it's always fun tomake make fun of nazis, so
that's always a good time, uh.
But yeah, that's pretty much it.
So it goes around that how he'strying to help these
underground uh fighters getinformation about nazis and of

(16:02):
course, uh overthrow their plansand save the day.
So some some good, funnymusical numbers not not too many
for my taste.
This this surprises a lot ofpeople and matt will probably be
surprised about this too, especially being a musician, I'm
actually not into musicals.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (16:21):
That is a little weird.

D Vaz (16:22):
Yeah, I didn't.

Tex LaFon (16:25):
I hate musicals.

D Vaz (16:28):
I like some, but I'm very picky.
I will say that, yeah, so yeah,I'll get into it at a later
date.
But yeah, I do like some forsure.
But a lot of people expect that, since I'm a musician, I'll be
all about musicals.
I understand their place andit's okay.
It's just not so much of mything.
But uh garbage.

(16:48):
That is the thing about thetext.
It will be pretty up front.
So you two can have a talkabout musicals and star wars
later oh yeah, no, no, I, Itotally get it.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (17:04):
I like that he's up front, as
opposed to his mom that usuallygoes from the back yeah she's a
backer.
I had to get here somehow, soyou're right couldn't keep
wasting those socks I always saw, because I saw top secret, you
know, way back in the early1800s.

(17:24):
When it came out like I saw itI was much younger, um, but I I
feel like that and spies like uswere two movies that were sort
of married in my head becausethey were not similar but they
were.
They were based in a similarkind of way.

Tex LaFon (17:41):
They could not be more different from each other,
but they both had a similarpremise because they were both
basically spy parodies I justsaw them for the first time,
like a week ago, when he told methat that was on his list and
uh yeah and then so I I found itstreaming on, I think, on hulu
nice, and I was like shit, I hadnever seen it.
It was actually pretty good, Iwas surprised.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (18:02):
No, they do okay, val Kilmer was
good in the day, man.

Tex LaFon (18:06):
Yeah, I've always loved Val Kilmer, but I just
never heard of that movie.
So I was like I was shocked.
I was like what, and I usuallywatch a lot of movies.
I was like what?
Yeah?

D Vaz (18:14):
Yeah, I will say I'm in good company, because I recently
found out that Top Secret isWeird Al Yankovic's favorite
movie from the 80s.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (18:25):
Is it really?

D Vaz (18:26):
Yeah, I saw a recent interview and that's what he
said, so I'm like, okay, thatwas actually before.
Even I'm sorry after I pickedit.
I saw that Really.

Tex LaFon (18:33):
So, yes, I validated my answer.
That would never be my favoritemovie in the 80s, but it's okay
.
There's a lot of better movies,in my opinion, in the 80s than
that, but it's okay.

D Vaz (18:46):
Oh, we know your love for aliens.

Tex LaFon (18:50):
Hell yeah, that's definitely at the top and
Predator is at the top.

D Vaz (18:56):
Alien vs Predator.

Tex LaFon (18:58):
No, that was garbage.

Rob O'Dic (19:06):
Alien's good Alien, good Predator, good top and
predator is at the top alienversus predator.

D Vaz (19:09):
No, that was garbage alien, good predator.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (19:11):
Good , you put them together, not
garbage.
No, actually I think it was2000s, wasn't it?
Alien alien, yeah, early 2000s,yeah, yeah, and if they?

Tex LaFon (19:15):
would have been rated r, it could have been good, but
when you make the franchisesthat have been rated r the whole
time and you make it a bg-13,what the hell?
What the hell is wrong with you?
Like what the?
Hell yeah yeah yeah, yeah, itwas the dumbest movie ever.
And then the sequel is evenworse oh, yeah, I saw that.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (19:35):
What sequel?
There's no sequel.
We don't talk.
We don't talk about the sequel.

Tex LaFon (19:40):
Yeah, no, we're not going to talk about it.
I've never seen a movie whereyou couldn't see shit that was
going on, especially like in thetunnel.
Yeah, Terrible dude.

D Vaz (19:52):
All right, so I guess wrapping that one up.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (20:00):
Matt , what do you have for your
second pick on that list?
So it actually kind of goeswith what you were talking about
and then something else.
So for anybody listening, whenI do my stupid little program, I
do a lot more.
I do a lot of cursing.
I'm not afraid to be a littlebit inappropriate on there.
My mother-in-law hates it, butI do it anyway.

Rob O'Dic (20:23):
Uh and when I talked to no, that's true.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (20:26):
When I talked to D he said you know,
do me a favor and just coolthat off a little bit.
So I wanted to, um, I wanted tokind of do a movie that wasn't
raunchy sorry text that uhwasn't.
It wasn't too it wasn't raunchy, but it's still one of my
favorite comedies and I'm gonnastand behind this all the way.

(20:46):
Uh, because if you were just towatch this on its own, it is
funny.
It's just straight up quotablefunny.
You're laughing all the waythrough it.
And that is the Emperor's NewGroove, which is a Disney movie.
Now we're just talking aboutmusicals.
This isn't Emperor's New Groove, isn't like most Disney movies?

(21:08):
There is one musical numberduring the credits at the
beginning, and that's it.
And there's no princess, there's no coming of age tale,
there's no finding innerstrength, there's nothing age
tale, there's no finding innerstrength, there's nothing like
that.
It's just this wacky Disneyflavored premise and just
constant jokes.
And they're all funny.

(21:29):
They sneak some adult jokes inthere, right under your nose,
when you don't even realize it.
But cast is great David Spade, eartha Kitt, who plays Yzma,
steals the whole movie andPatrick Warburton is Kronk, who
was so good they gave him othermovies.
Just that whole thing isfantastic.
I love watching it and I'vewatched it literally hundreds of

(21:52):
times.
I laugh every single time.

Tex LaFon (21:56):
What a classic.
No, that's awesome.
That's yeah, that's a goodmovie.
I've seen it.
It's pretty good.
Have you seen it?
Did you like it?
Yeah, I liked it.
Yeah, like I said, I got a lotof kids at the house, so of
course, I've seen all the Disneymovies Makes complete sense.

D Vaz (22:11):
Yep, yeah, I haven't seen that Now.
I definitely have to check itout, though.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (22:16):
I'm telling you, man, it's solid,
like it's really solid.

D Vaz (22:21):
Make my Disney Plus subscription worth it.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (22:23):
Yeah , right, so yeah, I'll check it
out, Cool Right.

Tex LaFon (22:29):
Yeah, don't get this subscription for the Star Wars
series.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podc (22:33):
That's for sure.

D Vaz (22:35):
I have a mixture of just some of the stuff they have in
there.
But also for the kids, you knowI am introducing them to some
Disney content and some starWars.

Tex LaFon (22:45):
So well you know.
Disney plus is good now, though, because they bought Fox and
they got all the good radarmovies on there.
So yeah, just bring it, bringit, bring it.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (22:56):
Lulu went into it.
It was such a good idea.
But they finally startedputting on there, so I'm
surprised yep, I watched bothdeadpool movies before I went
and saw the new one and theywere both right there on disney
plus man.
It was pretty sweet.
Yep, yep, nice, all right, mysecond comedy on the list.

Tex LaFon (23:18):
Comedy movie on the list is going to be the Hangover
.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (23:21):
All right.

Tex LaFon (23:22):
And I said when I seen that movie I laughed so
much I didn't even have to bedrinking and I was laughing so
much and right, there is a winright there.
Because I said for a comedylike that to make me laugh like
that and not be drinking, that'sa good comedy.
And I said, said we've all beento vegas, we've all partied up
in vegas, so it just ties intotogether, like you know, with

(23:45):
their own life stories.
You've been so drunk in vegasand then you wake up you're like
what the hell did I?

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (23:51):
do I've?

Tex LaFon (23:54):
been there.
Yeah, so that's like you said.
That's why I like that hangovera lot.
I know I've talked about itbefore, but that movie is just a
great movie.
Like I said, it's just a lot ofthings happen in Vegas and it
stays in Vegas.

D Vaz (24:11):
What do you think on that ?
Anything else on that, Matt.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (24:14):
I love Zach Galifianakis, love him
Live at the Purple Onion is oneof my top five favorite
stand-up comedy specials of alltime.
And seeing him in the Hangoverand you know they used him just
right, you know what I mean Likehe started out as the weirdo
but he kind of became the onethat a lot of people identified

(24:36):
with in the weirdest part ofthemselves, which I thought was
great.
And, um, you know, ed Helms wasphenomenal in it.
And then Mike Tyson you knowMike Tyson killed it.
So I, I, I love the hangover.
What a good fricking flick.

Tex LaFon (24:52):
It's great and, like I said, I just thought it was
funny right off the bat.
When the dude wakes up and hedon't have a tooth, he's missing
a tooth.
I've never been that drunk inDevil Mayhem.

Rob O'Dic (25:06):
That's legit.

D Vaz (25:11):
I can say it's my favorite Mike Tyson acting role
that I can say safely.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podc (25:19):
What's your second Mike Tyson favorite
acting role?
I?

Tex LaFon (25:23):
know he's in them fighting movies like IP3 or
something like that.

D Vaz (25:28):
I haven't seen that.
I was gonna say Fightin' forthe Land where he bites the ear
oh, holyfield, don't be mad.

Tex LaFon (25:36):
This guy was hungry.
Okay, son right.
Don't be mad that the guy washungry.
Okay, son Right.

D Vaz (25:42):
He just wanted a bite.
He didn't have to be in themiddle of a match, couldn't take
a break.
He's like this is fresh.

Tex LaFon (25:50):
Well, you know he's hungry dog.
You know he didn't want to be.
What is that saying?
When you don't eat a Snickers, you're angry, or?

D Vaz (25:58):
hangry, he has a Hiroshima.
What is that saying?
When you don't eat a Snickers, you're angry or hangry, or
whatever the hell it's called.
He has a Hiroshima, he's notgoing anywhere for a while,
right?
So yeah, that's also the firstrole I can remember for Ken.
What's his name, his last name?
Resident Community.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (26:16):
Ken Jeong yeah, ken Jeong, that's
the one that got him famous, forsure.

Tex LaFon (26:21):
Yeah, devis is jumping out of the trunk naked,
okay.

D Vaz (26:30):
Yeah, that happened a lot in high school, I have to say.
For my second pick, I haveMultiplicity.

Rob O'Dic (26:40):
I have to say for my second pick.

D Vaz (26:40):
I have a multiplicity and this stars Michael Keaton and
I'll save a little bit becauseI'll go back to Michael Keaton a
little bit later on in theepisode, but I think it was a
crush on him.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (26:55):
Yes , you could do a lot worse.

D Vaz (27:00):
Michael Keaton's all right.

Tex LaFon (27:01):
Yeah, he is Batman, so that's where you go.

D Vaz (27:03):
yep, he even said it I am batman right, so he has money,
give him that yep, be a golddigger for a second um and he's
beetlejuice right which I'mready for this like hit with the
ladies.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (27:17):
Oh, man looks so good, right I'm
seeing it opening night for sure.

D Vaz (27:21):
Oh yeah, I'm definitely ready to see that.
Yeah, but yeah for multiplicity.
It's different from those roles.
For sure, he plays a regularperson for the most part.
For somewhat, Somebody who'svery busy and overworked is what
he plays in that role but, uhwell, he's trying to balance his

(27:44):
home life and work life.
He has, you know, wife and andfamily and all that.
So, um, I shouldn't say a wifeand family.
I guess he has two familiestechnically.
If that that's what the case is, he has a wife and kids, and
he's just working so many hourshe doesn't have time for them.
So what he does is he runs intoa doctor who offers to clone

(28:07):
him, and the clone is there tohelp with work and things like
that.
And I'm definitely not givinganything away.
This is all in the trailer forthe movie, so if you haven't
seen it, no spoiler alerts onthis.
And from there on, they feellike they need more clones to

(28:28):
help out with everything.
So it just goes crazy.
From there, michael Keatonplays all the different versions
of himself as the clone, andthis is way before.
All this type of camera workwas easy, with digital editing
and all that.
So they had to figure outreally creative ways to do it
and make it work, and for thatsimple fact it was.
It was amazing that they coulddo it back then, but it's just

(28:50):
really funny seeing him actuallyinteract with himself.

Tex LaFon (28:53):
Yeah, in a great way no, I agree, I like, uh, most
people see a lot and I saidmichael keaton, he's definitely
a great actor.
Um, I said, who wouldn't wantto clone themselves to?
You know, make life easier, right you know like you know who
wouldn't want.
The only thing that, um, heshould have realized is, of

(29:17):
course, when you clone yourself, other people are going to be
trying to sleep with your, withyour wife, okay, so what do you
think was going to happen?
You know what I'm saying.
So much for rule number one, exactly.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podca (29:31):
Right .

D Vaz (29:32):
And I just.
If you just say the word peppyto anybody who's seen it, that's
all you have to say.
If you just say the word peppyto anybody who's seen it that's
all you have to say.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (29:39):
The question is have I been drunk
enough to try to put a slice ofpizza into my wallet?
The answer is yes.
Yes, I did.
That's awesome.
It didn't work.

D Vaz (29:55):
Forget Apple Pay when you have Pizza, pay Spoiler.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (29:57):
Yeah right, forget apple pay when
you have pizza, pay boiler.

Tex LaFon (29:59):
yeah right well, did your?
Did your wallet look like, uh,george costanza's in seinfeld?

Matt - Atomic Skull Podca (30:05):
where you saw I.
Uh, so I was, I was just, I wasI was drunk and I was just
being an ass and doing a bit,and you know, everybody had seen
it because we were talkingabout it.
And uh, so I did it, I put thepizza in my wallet.
I put the next morning, when Ibecame me again, I had to go buy

(30:27):
a new wallet because so Isacrificed my wallet for that
bit that's awesome but it wasfunny, I guess, so I'm told well
, I think it's funny right now,so yeah, that's all I need.

D Vaz (30:42):
That is all I need yeah, so alright, matt, what do you
have lined up for number three?

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (30:51):
I'm gonna give a quick shout out to
what I'm not picking.
That's Airplane, which is oneof the greatest comedies of all
time, but I think that one it'sthe best one as opposed to one
of my greatest comedies of alltime.
But I think that one it's it'sthe best one as opposed to one
of my favorites, because I'veseen it many times, but not as
many as this one.
Um, mid-90s hall of fame comedy, as far as I'm concerned,

(31:12):
you've got one extremely goodlegendary comedic actor and then
you've got one extremely good, classically trained actor who
learned comedy, did reallyreally well.
You put them together and theymade magic and that's dumb and
dumber, which is one of the mostquotable classic movies of all

(31:33):
time.
I can watch that over and overand never get tired of it.

Tex LaFon (31:38):
Especially when you're riding on a moped and it
gets warm on your back.

Matt - Atomic Skull Pod (31:43):
Happens weekly Weekly.

Tex LaFon (31:47):
I agree that's a really good movie man.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (31:50):
Yeah , yeah, every single time I
watch.
I just saw at the theater theyhad one of those like special
anniversary things in thetheater and the theater was full
and everyone was laughing, quoting along with it.
Fantastic, it's so good to seea lot of people love it, you
know, even just said that thesequel was garbage.

Tex LaFon (32:09):
What sequel exactly?
There was no exactly, yeah yeah, that's yeah.

D Vaz (32:19):
I think I intentionally missed that one.
I maybe caught a couple minutesof it.

Tex LaFon (32:24):
That was too many minutes of it that was a good
choice that you never watched itbecause it was so garbage yeah,
I was just happy with the firstone and I was like I really
can't see it living up to it.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (32:36):
From what I saw, I was like, yeah,
no no, it wasn't man, I wantedit to so bad, but you can only
manifest so much, you know rightwho?

Tex LaFon (32:46):
who would not want to be able to write?
I owe you and then you know, that and then be able to spend
cash like it's nothing and I oweyou right.
Wipe your nose with hundreddollar bills.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (32:58):
I want to get to that point in my
life and then be able to spendcash like it's nothing and I owe
you.
Wipe your nose with $100 bills.

Tex LaFon (33:02):
I want to get to that point in my life for sure.
Then you know you made it.
You wipe your nose with $100bills you made it in life.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (33:08):
Yeah right, that's how you know you
win.

Tex LaFon (33:13):
Exactly what do you?

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (33:16):
got Tex.

Tex LaFon (33:18):
My third one, um, that I'm gonna go with is
another raunchy comedy.
Like I said, I love themSuperbad.
Um, I said when that movie cameout I couldn't believe how good
that movie was, man, like itwas like all time classic.
And we've all been in highschool, we've all been trying to

(33:41):
mack on girls and you know, trying to get the numbers and
stuff, and we think we're thesuper cool ones and we're not.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (33:51):
No one is.
No one is, no one is.

Tex LaFon (33:53):
But it was, it was just.
And then we all try gettingbeer when we're underage, you
know, trying to be the cool kidsand, like I said, just
everything in that movie justwas classic.
And, like I said, I just, Ijust think it's one of my top
movies of all time.

D Vaz (34:11):
It's just, it's so funny so you were mclovin you know
mclovin yeah, yeah, I think wemay have mentioned something
about the, the ids and all that.
Either of you ever have a fakeid?

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (34:30):
I never did no, I didn't get into
trouble until I was much older, like that's, when I started
getting all my trouble, when Iwhen I had a real id, which was
even more dangerous than a fakeone.

D Vaz (34:46):
I do have a really quick id story in general.
The the funny part about it,too, too, is the fact that it
was definitely my ID.
I went to a bar that I'd beento several times, hung out with
my friend on multiple occasions.
The bouncer even somewhat knewus and we would actually go

(35:06):
there to play pool and just talk.
And that was terrible.
Pool still am, anyway.
Uh, we were just hanging out.
I don't drink at all.
I wasn't trying to order adrink or anything like that.
My friend was drinking and we,we sat at the bar for a little
bit.
While we're taking a breaktalking the bouncer a little bit
, he walks away.
The bartender, you know, asked, ask us what we want to drink,

(35:29):
and I ordered, you know, lemonade, or whatever I
typically would order.
She asked for my ID and shelooks at it and she's like this
is fake.
I was like and at the time Iwas 26, 27.
So I was like no, that's real.
So she's like no, no, it's fake.
I was like well then, you knowI'm ordering a lemonade, but

(35:51):
either you know, if it's aproblem, just give me my ID,
we'll head out, or whatevershe's like no, I can't give it
back to you because it's fake.
So it got to the point where wewere going back and forth.

Tex LaFon (36:06):
You were 27 and you had a fake ID.

D Vaz (36:09):
No, no, it was my real ID .
She thought it was a fake.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (36:12):
ID it makes so much sense that you
would, at 26, 27 years old, thatyou would get a fake ID go to a
pool hall and order a lemonade.

Tex LaFon (36:22):
That's what I'm saying.
Right who ever has entered apool hall.
Oh, you're good.

D Vaz (36:28):
Okay, no, it was a yeah, okay, they just happen to have
pool tables.
Still, though, still though, yeah, so it was just weird.
So she went back and forth withme.
I was like one, I was trying toorder a lemonade, but two, if
it's a problem, I'll take my idand leave, and so she wouldn't
get back to me.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcas (36:46):
Yeah , your id and your money and go
somewhere else yeah.

D Vaz (36:49):
So she ended up saying, well, um, this isn't real, I'm
not giving back to you.
So I was like, well, I have, Iactually had to leave to go on a
work trip the next day anddrive.
So I definitely needed mylicense the next day.
So I was like, well, I need myid back.
You can't keep my id.
So she's like, like, well, I'llcall the police.
I was like, go ahead, it's myID, yeah.

(37:11):
So the police actually came.
They had the little machinethat you know they can scan it.
No, yeah, it's a real ID.
So that's what they did.
They scanned it.
They're like, yeah, it's a realID the night.
Yeah, let's say you better gotthat love and aid, better have
been free.
Oh, if myself was free.

Rob O'Dic (37:32):
And then the looks I gave to her too were also free,
complimentary of me, soeverybody that's insane, bro.

D Vaz (37:40):
It was yeah, and I couldn't leave because she had
my license, so I explained thatto the police too.
Like she's holding my license, that's my real license why would
I have her call you out here ifit's not my real license to
check it?

Tex LaFon (37:52):
hell of a bluff I would have got the manager and
be like I want all this free, all that free and your mom free,
yeah and I'm taking the pooltable right now.

D Vaz (38:05):
The owner came up to me and apologized, yeah that was
the last time I ever went there.
That's fair, that is valid.
So all right, sorry, quick IDstory.
Love that For number three onthis, for me I have a, not just

(38:28):
a hood classic, but a classic ingeneral Friday Hell.
Yeah, that's amazing.
Yeah, absolutely one of myfavorite movies, so many great
characters, so many great lines.
Has ice cube in it and christucker um, some of the the
phrases are used today by peoplelike by.
Felicia came from friday and uh, growing up in the hood, too,

(38:48):
for me, I knew people that werelike some of the characters that
you see, so it was also kind ofextra funny in that sense
fortunately, you saw a lot ofpeople taking a shit whenever
your mom came around, yeah noyou say you grew up in the hood
and smoky's taking a shit, okay,so we.

(39:10):
We had dogs and I couldn't tellthe difference between the two,
so maybe it's possible.
I said I love that scene.

Tex LaFon (39:17):
I love that scene in that movie man where smoky's
over there by the fence takingthe shit and he's like I ain't
gonna tell nobody smoky takingthe shit no right, I was just uh
glad and lucky that I didn'thave a Debo type character.
You don't want to come ridingaround on the bike and beat the
shit out of you.

D Vaz (39:37):
Or steal my jewelry or anything.
No, I'm good, but Smokey isactually probably my second
favorite character.
The dad is my favoritecharacter.
I'd say in that movie, just thelines he has the way'd say in
that movie, just the lines hehas, the way he is.
It's just really funny.
And I'll never you know, you'llnever think about somebody

(39:58):
using the bathroom before you.
The same ever again.

Matt - Atomic Skull Podcast (40:01):
Not that I did not that I did
anyway, but or eating cerealwith water okay.

D Vaz (40:08):
I'll definitely pass on that.

Tex LaFon (40:13):
Oh, that was so funny .
You better put some water onthat shit boy.
Oh so funny.

D Vaz (40:21):
And I will say, even watching the other Friday movies
.
The dad definitely is the onlyreason I kind of watched the
other Friday movies.

Tex LaFon (40:30):
Yeah, it's sad that the other Friday movies.
Yeah, it's sad that they thatthey turned into garbage.
Yeah.

D Vaz (40:36):
Yeah, they, they definitely went the wrong
direction, unfortunately, butthe original one, the OG Friday,
great, actually great.
Music soundtrack too I do haveto throw that in there.

Rob O'Dic (40:48):
Yeah.

D Vaz (40:49):
Yeah, I had that CD back in back in the day and I wore
that out for sure like I wearyour mom out.
You ain't nothing but hoochiemama hoochie mama anyway, um,
all right, so I guess that wrapsup movies there thank you for

(41:11):
suffering along with me for thisepisode.

Rob O'Dic (41:13):
It's bad enough with two of them, and now I can't
believe that there are three ofthem to provide opinions and
mama jokes.
Tex, our very own alien fromthe planet texafon, claimed that
alien versus predator was from2003.
Well, I am going to burst outof his chest screaming no wrong.
It was released in August 2004.
Surprisingly, the humanoidskept the show fairly factual

(41:34):
versus fictional, since it wasso clean.
I will give you a bit of atreat and share some little
known information about some ofthe actors mentioned in this
episode.
Regarding Val Kilmer Val Kilmeris a passionate poet and artist.
He published a book of hispoetry titled my Edens After
Burns in 1983, which includeshis poems and photographs.
He refused a role in DirtyDancing.

(41:56):
Kilmer turned down the leadrole of Johnny Castle in the
iconic film Dirty Dancing, whicheventually went to Patrick
Swayze.
Kilmer has mentioned ininterviews that he didn't want
to be typecast as a heartthrobBefore he became an actor.
Kilmer was deeply interested infilmmaking.
While in high school heco-directed and starred in a
short film called the First Time.
He was also the youngest personever to be accepted into the

(42:17):
Juliet School's drama divisionat the time.
Up next is Will Ferrell.
Before making it big in comedy, will Ferrell worked a series of
odd jobs, including as a hotelvalet, a bank teller and a Santa
Claus at a shopping mall.
Sorry, to disappoint some ofyou, he was not an elf.
These experiences helped himdevelop his comedic timing and
understanding of differentpersonalities.

(42:38):
While Ferrell is known for hiscrazy comedic roles, he has a
serious side when it comes tothe craft of comedy.
He's expressed that he seescomedy as an important art form
that can address serious issueswhile still making people laugh.
This is why some of his comedicroles often have a layer of
satire or social commentary.
Will Ferrell is deeply involvedin philanthropy and is one of
the founders of the charityCancer for College, which

(42:59):
provides scholarships to cancersurvivors.
His dedication to this causecomes from his close
relationship with the charity'sfounder, craig Pollard, a double
cancer survivor and Ferrell'sfriend from college.
Finally, we have Michael Keaton.
Early work as a cameraman.
Before becoming a famous actor, michael Keaton worked behind
the scenes as a cameraman for atelevision station in Pittsburgh
.
He also worked as a productionassistant on the popular

(43:21):
children's show Mr Rogers'Neighborhood, which was filmed
in Pittsburgh.
Batman sorry, I mean, michaelKeaton is an avid cyclist.
He has been known to ride hisbike around the sets of his
films and in his spare time.
In fact, he has even statedthat bicycling is one of his
favorite ways to clear his mindand stay fit.
Keaton was also considered forthe role of Sam Malone in the
classic TV show Cheers.

(43:42):
However, the role eventuallywent to Ted Danson, which helped
launch his career.
Keaton went on to pursue filmroles instead, which appears to
have worked out for an okaycareer.
I will head on out of thevirtual door now, by the way.
It's so fun seeing the boys getalong and play nice.
Well, just wait until Tex Lafonand Matt increase their bourbon
intake in part 2.

(44:02):
I'll be back for episode 7,part 2, I am sure.
