Ever wondered what makes a local business thrive for nearly two decades? The secret lies in family values, exceptional service, and genuine community connection.

Meet Valerie McCawley from Peak Roofing Contractors, a family-owned business celebrating an impressive 19 years of service this November. What began as a brother-sister venture from a basement office has blossomed into a company with 37 employees, multiple locations, and a service area spanning Northern Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley.

"We are so much more than a roofing company," Valerie emphasizes, and she's right. Beyond traditional roofing, Peak handles all exterior home needs—siding, windows, doors, gutters, and even cutting-edge solar shingle installation. This comprehensive approach sets them apart in an industry where specialization is common.

Most compelling is Peak Roofing's philosophy on customer relationships. In a field often plagued by unreliability, they've built their reputation on showing up, following through, and treating customers like family. "You become Peak family to us once you make that phone call," Valerie explains. This commitment extends to projects of all sizes, from small repairs to complete replacements.

Their dedication reaches beyond business transactions into meaningful community involvement. The team actively supports causes like Alzheimer's research and Habitat for Humanity, demonstrating that local businesses can be powerful forces for community good.

Looking for a contractor who will still answer your call years after completing your project? Discover why Peak Roofing Contractors has earned the trust of homeowners across Virginia for nearly two decades. Connect with them on social media, visit peakroofingcontractors.com, or call 703-753-4585 to experience their exceptional service firsthand.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Fredericksburg Neighbors Podcast
, the place where localbusinesses and neighbors come
together.
Here's your host, Dori Stewart.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Welcome back to another episode of the
Fredericksburg Neighbors Podcast, where we share the stories of
our favorite local brands.
Today, I'm excited to introduceyou to Valerie McCauley of Peak
Roofing.
Valerie, welcome to the podcast.
Thanks for having me.

(00:33):
I appreciate it.
Well, I'm excited to learn moreabout you and your business.
So let's start there.
Share with us a little bitabout Peak Roofing.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
So Peak Roofing is a family owned and operated
business right out of FauquierCounty.
It is a brother sister duo withtheir spouses.
Peak will be in business thisNovember 19 years.
We're celebrating 19 years, soPeak Roofing was started right
out of the basement, or closetbasement, of the brother-sister
duo and they have just grown itinto this amazing company today,
19 years later.

(00:58):
It's pretty awesome.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Well, that is amazing 19 years.
That is something to reallycelebrate, and so I'd love to
learn a little bit more.
Tell us a little bit about thehistory of the business.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Sure.
So Dawn and Bud, the brothersister duo, they actually came
from a background of roofing.
They were going to purchase aroofing company that the owner
was ready to sell.
It ended up not being a goodfit.
So they were like you know whatwe can do this?
And again they did.
They just the two of them, justbranched out and here we are
now with, I believe it's, 37full-time staff, a whole fleet

(01:35):
of vehicles.
We have one office in FauquierCounty.
We have a secondary office inWinchester.
Our service area is all ofNorthern Virginia, down the
Shenandoah Valley, wrapping upthrough, you know,
charlottesville and upwards thatway to back up towards Fongier.
So again, it's huge.
Stafford, fredericksburg arebig areas that we service as

(01:56):
well and we are super happy tobe a part of it all.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Amazing.
You cover a lot of ground.
Part of it all Amazing.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
You cover a lot of ground.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
We do, yeah, so talk to me a little bit about I know
that Peak Roofing cares a lotabout the community.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
So talk to me a little bit about ways in which
you give back, absolutely.
So the one thing Peak loves isis, like you said, to give back
to the community in all kinds ofways, whether it's let me back
up community events as in, likeFalkier Fish I was trying to
think of some of the namesFalkier Fish, habitat for
Humanity, alzheimer's isprobably our biggest passion
that we work for.

(02:35):
We do Spear Days and SpearNights, fundraising all year.
We do one big event every yearfor Alzheimer's.
Our one this year is golf inSeptember, so we're really
looking forward to that.
So, between community events, sponsorships, drives, again, any
way we can give back.
Peak is here for it.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
That's amazing.
I love that so much.
So tell me what is somethingthat you wish the listeners knew
about Peak Roofing.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
My favorite tagline in the whole world is we are so
much more than a roofing company.
A lot of people hear PeakRoofing and they're like, oh, I
have an issue with my siding andwe don't come to mind.
But Peak Roofing is again somuch more than a roofing company
.
We can handle all of yourhome's exterior needs.
Roofing is again so much morethan a roofing company.
We can handle all of yourhome's exterior needs.
So we handle things fromobviously all roofing types
siding, windows, doors, gutters, everything on the outside of

(03:24):
your home.
We also install solar, which ispretty exciting.
We do solar shingles, which isa little bit different than the
normal traditional rack panelsthat you see, the big heavy
glass panels.
So that's a whole differentconversation, but we do.
We do solar everything on theexterior of your home.
So we just hope and wish thatif people had any type of
exterior home projects theywould call Peak to let us come
take a look and take a bid andwe'd be happy to diagnose it.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Amazing.
You cover way more servicesthan I expected.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
So it's wonderful, peak is such again, your
one-stop shop for all your homeexterior needs.
We like to say that's amazing.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
No wonder they've been in business 19 years.
So tell me, do you find thatthere are any myths or
misconceptions about whether thecompany or the industry in
general?

Speaker 3 (04:13):
I think the industry in general might have a little
bit of a bad name to it with alot of like no callbacks or no
shows, and we kind of getgrouped into that there.
You know, everybody's human andmistakes are made, but we
really pride ourselves on makingsure that if something is amiss
we're going to fix it.
The one we're going to show upthat's our biggest thing is like
if you call and make anappointment, we're going to be

(04:34):
there, unless there's 9-1-1,something crazy happened.
But I think there's a lot oftimes there's that you know the
door knocker motto, where theyknock on your door and they get
your deposit and then they justnever show back up.
That would never happen.
Through peak roofing we makesure our integrity is so
important to us and our customerservice and what we provide.
So I do think there's a littlebit of misconception on the

(04:56):
trades that sometimes people arejust out there for the money
versus taking care and buildingthat rapport and we're all about
the rapport we do small repairsall the way up to the big, huge
replacements and that's onething that we pride ourselves on
is we we want you to call usfor the little things and

(05:18):
hopefully we build that trust inthat partnership to where, when
the bigger things happen, youthink of us and and we'll come
top of mind and be able to comeout and help for that.
So I think that might beprobably the biggest hurdle is
that people are already like, oh, I don't want to do this
because they're scared they'regoing to get that bad customer
service.
We're here to say that thatwill not happen.
You become peak family to usOnce you make that phone call
and you're with us.
You're us for life.
So we want to always take careof you, whether it's two years
down the road for a new projector 10 years.

(05:39):
We need to revisit what we'vedone.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
We're here for you well, thank you for sharing that
.
That's so important.
I think there's so many horrorstories out there.
So to know that there's acompany out there that cares and
that no job is too small andand you're there for, for, for
their lifetime, their lifetimeof, of their home.
So thank you for sharing that.
I love it.
So tell me, if the listenerswant to reach out to you, want

(06:04):
to learn more about Peak Roofing, how can they find?

Speaker 3 (06:07):
you Absolutely so.
We are on every social mediaplatform there is, so you can
find us on Facebook, instagram, linkedin, twitter, all all the
fun social media platforms.
We have our website, www.
wwwpeakroofingcontractors.

We'll be happy to answer arandom question all the way up

(06:28):
to setting up a full estimateand all the things.
So they can absolutely call theoffice at any time at

Speaker 2 (06:36):

on the podcast today andsharing Peak Roofing with us.
