Averynicegal (00:00):
I love to find
games that look really stupid
and horrible and then just playthem on stream and be like,
well, I don't know what this is,but we're gonna find out
together.
And sometimes they'reabsolutely horrible and you
can't even play them.
But occasionally you will findjust a gold nugget of like, this
is the worst game I've everseen, but it's hilarious.
Scarto46 (00:40):
Hey, thanks for
joining us for this episode of
Gamer Tagged.
A very nice gal.
Appreciate you coming ontonight.
Averynicegal (00:46):
Yeah, thanks for
having me.
I'm excited to be here, talkwith you guys.
Scarto46 (00:49):
For sure.
Also on the show tonight isMartha Maple, of course.
Marthah Maple (00:53):
Hello, hello.
Scarto46 (00:55):
So a very nice gal.
Why don't we start with you aslike you as a person?
So not with a tag, but withyou.
What kind of kid were yougrowing up?
Averynicegal (01:07):
I was uh painfully
shy and awkward.
That was part probably mydefining of my youth.
Shy people unite.
I grew up yeah in Texas, just aquiet kid, an observer for most
of my life.
And uh yeah.
Scarto46 (01:25):
Dude, you have such a
big personality, like online.
So I think that's awesome.
Like you get to live all ofthese different styles.
And I know we're gonna talkabout that in a little bit, but
yeah, yeah, that's super cool.
Averynicegal (01:37):
It's being online
and creating content has given
me an outlet for what I thinkI've been my whole life, but
never uh been outwardly thatway.
It's been fun and just likebeing in front of a microphone.
And maybe if I was just talkeda little louder and had a mic,
maybe people were stuff funny along time ago.
(01:58):
I don't know.
But yeah, no.
Content creations.
It's a very fun creative outletfor me.
Marthah Maple (02:04):
Okay, so you
describe yourself as being an
observer and being likepainfully shy and stuff.
When you were growing up, whatkind of people did you hang out?
Where could you be found?
Averynicegal (02:14):
I was an art kid,
so I found like the fine arts in
high school, and that was mything.
I was the like shy art person, and I loved painting and being
creative and like visuallycreative in that way.
That was my crowd.
And then what kind of stuff didyou paint?
I did acrylics.
(02:36):
My grandmother both of mygrandmothers were oil painters,
so I've done wonderful painting.
Oh, that's cool.
Oil paintings a lot of work, soI didn't dabble into that too
much, but I did have artists onboth sides of my family.
Really got into watercolors, Idid some stuff with like
cardboard and doing like reliefswith cardboard.
I don't paint or draw muchanymore, but I do make my own
(02:57):
graphics and stuff.
So I did some graphic designwork professionally in my
career, so that was another sortof visual creative outlet for
me.
But yeah.
Scarto46 (03:07):
That's freaking cool,
man.
So when you're doing digital, like digital artwork, digital
design, is that kind of whereyou get into like the digital
space, or is there like anotherentry point for you?
Like where you're like, hey,I'm into like a certain I'm into
certain music where I'm intocertain art.
Because you're talking, you'redescribing a time where you're
like super creative.
What kind of got you intodigital stuff?
Averynicegal (03:30):
Like digital
artwork or like becoming a
streamer content creator?
Scarto46 (03:35):
Sorry, like you maybe
there was a time like in this
time period where you're playinggames or you're listening to
certain music.
Marthah Maple (03:40):
How did that your
introduction to the internet?
Scarto46 (03:43):
Yeah.
Averynicegal (03:45):
I've been on the
internet since how did I stop
giving away how old I'm gonna doit.
Scarto46 (03:52):
Since Y2Ks.
Averynicegal (03:54):
Since a while.
I played RuneScape with mybrother, that was a big game for
me.
Yeah, nice.
Haba Hotel.
What other we played Age ofEmpires.
And growing up watching him andbeing horrible at the games,
but him making me play with him.
And I didn't really touch videogames for a while.
(04:16):
Like after I was like 10 or 12.
Didn't really play them.
I wasn't a huge gamer.
And then I think when theSwitch came out and Breath of
the Wild, I played that with mybest friend, and I was like,
holy shit, this is really fun,and that kind of got me into
gaming, and then streaming camerandomly.
(04:39):
My ex-boyfriend actually wantedto stream and I was looking
into everything on his behalf.
And then I kept thinking like, this would be I want to do this.
And I didn't start doing it foranother year after that, but
fell into it in a way.
But yeah.
(04:59):
Yeah.
Marthah Maple (05:00):
So besides like
gaming and stuff in those early
years, were there other digitalspaces that you found comfort
in?
I know back in my early days, Iwas very into YouTube.
I don't know.
Have you ever heard of LonelyGirl 15?
I'm really dating myself onthat one.
Averynicegal (05:19):
Maybe I would
never been a huge YouTube.
That's not true.
I did watch some YouTubers.
I've always been into likememes and stuff like that.
I think my first sort of likehome online was Imager.
Okay.
And I'd post there sometimes, but mostly just like ingesting
crazy amounts of memes.
(05:39):
And I became friends with thisgirl at work who's a lot younger
than me, and I was like, youdon't know, you don't know the
whole you gotta know 10 years ofmeme history to understand this
joke.
But that was definitely a bigonline space for me for a long
time.
Scarto46 (05:54):
Dude, imagery is like
where everything originated back
then back in the day where itwas all of the memes were born
out of imagery.
Averynicegal (06:01):
Yeah, exactly.
Or I guess Reddit too, but Ijust I just give me the
pictures.
I don't want to read, just Idon't listen to the pictures.
So that was a big one for sure.
Yeah.
Scarto46 (06:10):
When did so you know
you were you're also a DJ, so
like looking back, when didmusic come into your life?
Was there a certain soundtrackin this early part of your life
or a certain album or song thatlike you would think describes
you best in this time period?
Averynicegal (06:26):
In that my imager
days, I was definitely more into
like indie rock and folk music, and that was my high school
music experience.
The DJing thing came reallyonly three or four years ago
when I was my like I said, myex-boyfriend was trying to
stream, and I was ended upwatching uh a bigger name DJ
(06:49):
stream and became friends withhis community, and he stopped
streaming, and then I justrandomly found this other DJ,
his name's Kobe Lack, and it wasjust so cool to watch someone
like mix music together, and hiscommunity was so much fun.
I made so many friends throughhis community, and he was like,
You have good taste in music, you should try to do this.
And he actually sent me alittle controller that I still
(07:11):
have.
Scarto46 (07:11):
That's cool.
Averynicegal (07:12):
I was like, I
really like this, I think I'm
gonna get a big old controller, and now I'm doing it.
So it was a big full circlemoment for my for streaming,
because that's the whole how Istarted watching streamers with
DJs.
Scarto46 (07:24):
That's dope.
I was just gonna ask so musicnever showed up like in your
early years then.
You were an artist and you werecreative, but but music and
being performative with musicwas like not part of your not at
all, and not even on my radarat all.
Averynicegal (07:38):
I took piano
lessons when I was like nine or
ten and I couldn't read themusic and I just memorized the
song or whatever.
And I think I was okay at it,but I wasn't like in love with
it by any means.
And I played a few otherinstruments, but like really
wanting to be creative withmusic didn't come till a few
years ago.
I've always loved music, listening to it, manipulating it
(08:02):
and playing with it.
Scarto46 (08:03):
Yeah, creating is
different than like consuming,
right?
Averynicegal (08:06):
For sure.
Marthah Maple (08:07):
So let's uh let's
talk about your name.
A very nice gal.
Where did that come from?
Was it the first one that youlanded on?
Did you go through someiterations before you found that
one and it stuck?
Averynicegal (08:19):
My first username
was Texas Girl39.
So that didn't stick, and thatprobably was silly.
And then my online name, Iwasn't really creating content,
but like my username was all dayaircat, like all day every day,
but all day every cat, becauseI love cats.
(08:40):
And it made sense to me, but Idon't think it read well.
And then I was like trying tothink of a name when I was gonna
start streaming, and I waslike, my name is a very how can
I like add to that and makemyself a very something?
And it's like a very cool gal,a very a lot of them were.
(09:01):
I think I had to find one thatwasn't taken, and then I landed
on a very nice gal and it gotstuck, and now that's me
everywhere.
That and a very nice DJ, but avery nice something.
Scarto46 (09:11):
Yeah, I thought it was
so cool how you played on your
name.
Yeah, I love that.
It's like you you baked it inand you now it's like a
sentence, right?
It's a description.
So when you when people comein, that's what you want them to
take away.
It's like you're a very nicegal.
Averynicegal (09:25):
And it makes
branding super easy.
Like my Discord server is avery nice server, my point
channel is a very nice points.
Like everything's just a verynice something.
So in that respect, it's nice.
It's also fun when I like raidsomebody or someone's like a
very nice girl, what do I callyou?
And I'm like, My name's Avery.
They're like, it's part of yourname.
I'm like, Yeah, yeah.
Marthah Maple (09:45):
So, how long have
you been a very nice gal?
Averynicegal (09:49):
I think I've been
streaming for three years, and I
started thinking aboutstreaming like a year before
that.
So, I think around four years.
Scarto46 (09:56):
So, if we go back to
Texas Girl39, like where did
that come out of a namegenerator?
Was that like something youpicked out of your head?
Averynicegal (10:03):
That was my
RuneScape username.
I don't know if I used anyoneelse.
I think it was just myRuneScape username.
But I was living in Californiaat the time and I'm a Texas
girl, and I missed Texas, and Idon't know where the 39 came
from, but yeah, I wantedeveryone to know that I'm a girl
from Texas.
Scarto46 (10:17):
Yeah, no, yeah, yeah.
I always think like the nameswe choose are like
representations of this emotionwe have or this feeling we have,
or yeah.
So, like when you're talkingabout missing home, like you
just wanted people to know whereyou were from.
That's super cool.
Averynicegal (10:29):
I thank RuneScape
for teaching me how to type.
I did typing classes in school, but if you're gonna trade
people on RuneScape, you gottatype out really fast.
And so thank you, RuneScape, for teaching me how to type.
Marthah Maple (10:41):
Okay, Texas
Girl36.
Was that it?
Scarto46 (10:45):
39.
Marthah Maple (10:46):
39.
Okay, sorry.
Did you shed that when you cameback to Texas?
Were you like, okay, I don'tmiss it anymore, so I'm good.
Averynicegal (10:56):
I think I I may
have had it in a few other
things after RuneScape days, andthen all day aircat was like
when social media was kind ofbecoming a thing, and I needed a
name, and it it then it bec Ibecame that.
I think.
I don't remember using it.
Scarto46 (11:13):
Yeah, how did all day
air cat come to be?
Like I know you you describedlike you just like the thing you
thought about and you're like, this sounds cool.
Averynicegal (11:20):
There's a song, I
think a song that's like all
people say all day every day,you know what I mean?
Or like and I just like cats, and I don't know why I spelled
it like that.
And I feel like people wouldspell it wrong because I used
two R's and it was just like,Why did I name myself?
It's not hard to remember.
Scarto46 (11:37):
Made it super
complicated to interact with
people on the internet.
Averynicegal (11:40):
Yeah, I like the
cleanness of a very nice gal
much better.
Scarto46 (11:44):
Oh yeah, it's dope,
it's super dope.
Okay, so we're gonna switchgears a little bit and talk
about like your evolution,right?
How did you turn a very nicegal into an identity, right?
Because you wear many hats, andwhat we're gonna do because you
wear so many different hats, iswe're gonna talk through them
(12:06):
like one at a time.
And and so maybe what we'll dois we'll start with gaming.
Okay.
So when did gaming on Twitchstart?
And what made you want to startsharing that side of yourself?
Averynicegal (12:17):
That started, that
was the first thing I did ever.
It was just I'm just gonnastream and I'm gonna play silly
games and just see what happens.
I had some encouragement fromthe friends that I had made from
Kobe Lax's community and hadbeen gearing up to do it in one
random Saturday.
I was like, I'm just gonna doit.
I'm gonna get out there andjust play.
I think the first game I playedwas what the golf on my switch
(12:41):
is.
What the golf?
Yeah, which is a very silly, silly game where you are
golfing, but then it gets sillybecause then you start golfing
with the ball and hitting theclub or whatever and it descends
into chaos.
But I started with gaming justbecause I thought I mean I'd
play games with my good friend, and I was like, I think we're
(13:02):
like funny doing this.
I think it would be fun to justtry to do it in front of
people.
And so I just started doingthat three years ago and was
pretty much just a gamingchannel for the first year or
so.
I don't know, it gets blurry.
I can't believe it's been threeyears.
But played a lot of horrorgames.
(13:22):
I don't know how I got intohorror games because I used to
be terrified of horror moviesgrowing up.
But fell in love with them withmy friend and would play them
before I started streaming, andthat was my bread and butter,
and it still is, but I've beenbranching out more recently, but
yeah, love me a good jumpscare.
Marthah Maple (13:40):
I was gonna say,
looking at your VOD history on
Twitch, you are like the truestof variety streamers, it seems.
Yeah, you're playing all kindsof stuff.
Was that always the plan, ordid you want to focus on just
one game or one genre and thenit just became something else?
Averynicegal (15:33):
I think I went I
went into it knowing that I'm
ADHD and there's no way I'mgonna be like a one game
streamer.
Also, I'm like not great atvideo games, so to pick one, I
don't know.
I I knew that I would get boredwith playing one game.
So I always knew it was gonnabe a variety streamer situation.
And I would just find gamesthat I that looked fun and try
(15:57):
them out.
Marthah Maple (15:57):
What's one of
those games for you?
Averynicegal (16:00):
I remember one
called I think it was Mimetic
Love.
It was like a visual novel.
And you were like trying tofind your love or make them fall
in love with you, and it wasjust the worst graphics and the
dialogue was just horrible, butit was just laugh out loud,
(16:20):
horrible.
I know there's some other onesI can't think of on off the top
of my head.
Scarto46 (16:25):
I saw you playing one
that was like you were a
nightclub owner.
Averynicegal (16:28):
Oh yes, I've been
very into simulator games
recently, and the nightclubsimulator was fun.
I don't understand why thewhole first club you're at,
everyone's a constructionworker.
Who decided that?
I don't know.
But I love like stupid detailslike that, where it's like, why
did they make this?
But I love it.
Scarto46 (16:49):
So if you had to pick,
maybe maybe not that you're
streaming one game all the time, but what is your what game do
you and do you enjoy streamingthe most?
Maybe it could just be a genreof games, but what are you like,
man?
This is it it could just beright now, like you said, like
some things are just a vibe thatyou're chasing today.
Averynicegal (17:05):
I think my
favorite style of game, whether
it's horror or not, is like astory-based, choice-driven game.
I don't really like shootingbecause I'm really bad at that.
I don't really like running andhiding.
I love a good story and likecommentating on the story and
playing through it and pokingfun at it, like Detroit Become
(17:30):
Human or Heavy Rain.
Heavy Rain was a huge favoriteof mine.
Fahrenheit, Indigo Prophecy wasone of my favorite games to
stream of all time.
That game is just the datedgraphics, and just it's it was
so good.
Marthah Maple (17:46):
I have it in the
oh, you gotta play it.
Averynicegal (17:48):
If you don't like
quick time events, you might not
like it because you gotta dolike time buttons and stuff, but
but it's really fun.
I think you'll enjoy it.
Scarto46 (17:56):
So heavy rain was like
like super quick time, and it
was also like really reactive toif I remember right.
It was really reactive to thedual shock, like you you had to
move it a certain direction orwhatever when I played it on
PlayStation 4 or whatever.
Averynicegal (18:10):
I played it on PC,
so I didn't have that part, but
I'm sure they I don't rememberexactly how the gameplay was.
Yeah, all the Qt.
Scarto46 (18:16):
But there was
definitely like yeah, all the
QTs required you to like ifyou're gonna turn the wheel,
move the dual shock to the leftlike as fast as possible.
Like it was pretty wild, but itwas a really cool game and like
really like oppressive.
Yeah, it gave you that vibeabout being suffocated almost.
Averynicegal (18:32):
It was a great
story, and I didn't know
anything about it.
I know it's got an iconicJason, you know, thing with a
balloon.
And everyone was saying thatwhen I was at that part of the
game, I was like, What are youguys talking about?
I don't know.
But yeah, great story.
I think I I usually when Iplay, well, any game, I get the
worst ending, but it's about thejourney, it's not about the
(18:52):
ending.
Yeah, dude.
Because those quick time eventscan be tricky.
Marthah Maple (18:55):
I'm gonna go off
on a little bit of a tangent
really quick.
You said that you really enjoyplaying horror, and I'm just
curious because it seems like alot of like your clips and stuff
are you being silly goofy.
So when it comes to horror, what appeals about that genre?
Are you trying to likegenuinely be spooked or are you
(19:17):
trying to find the humor in it?
Averynicegal (19:19):
I'm definitely
trying to find the humor in it.
I think they're all silly.
None of them, I'm sodesensitized at this point.
I've played so many of them, but I just think they're silly.
And some people, I don't know,oh, the monsters around the
corner, I'm scared.
I'm like, I want to go give hima hug.
Let's go see what he's doing inthere.
You know what I mean?
Maybe he's maybe justemotionally vulnerable and he
just needs to let it out.
I don't know.
(19:39):
But I definitely find the humorin it.
I don't know if I've I'm notgenuine, I'm not looking for a
genuine being scared experience.
I just like being goofy.
Marthah Maple (19:50):
Have you played
any that you did end up being
genuinely scared and you werelike, oh shit, what have I done?
Averynicegal (19:56):
The only game,
horror games that I will
actually I'm still like awarethat it's a game, like it's not
that scary, but it's hor vhorror VR.
That's a different level.
I played one, I forget the nameof it now, but it was like six
mini stories, and it was donereally well and it was really
realistic, and like that thatwill get me a little bit, but
(20:19):
it's still like silly fun.
Do you like horror movies?
Marthah Maple (20:23):
I don't.
Averynicegal (20:24):
I don't care about
horror movies.
No, I and I was scared of themgrowing up.
I remember my best friend atthe time was like really wanted
to watch what were those movies?
Oh, Paranormal Activity, one ofthose.
And she begged begged her dadto watch this movie, and I was
like, Okay, fine, I'll watch itwith you.
And he bought it, and she fellasleep in the first five
(20:45):
freaking minutes.
And me and her dad were like, Idon't want drive.
Oh no.
So I didn't really enjoy themgrowing up.
I don't seek them out now.
If it was really if there was areally good one out, maybe I'd
want to see it, but I'm not likea horror movie fanatic by any
means.
Scarto46 (21:00):
I'm gonna tell you the
dumbest thing about me that
you'll find funny.
I think back when I was a kidthat I think Jurassic Park was a
horror movie because I have ahuge imagination.
I would imagine that like theraptors are in the grass because
where I grew up is very tallgrass, and so they're little
tails slithering.
Yeah, I'm like, dude, I'm gonnaget murdered by a raptor.
That's how I processed watchingJurassic Park.
Averynicegal (21:22):
The Green Goblin
was scary in Spider-Man.
Scarto46 (21:24):
Yeah, yeah.
Averynicegal (21:25):
I was like, what?
I don't like this.
Why is he so mean?
Scarto46 (21:28):
Yeah.
Marthah Maple (21:30):
I still to this
day remember the nightmare that
I had after watching JurassicPark for the first time.
Scarto46 (21:36):
Oh, we've never talked
about this.
So please tell me.
Averynicegal (21:39):
What was your
nightmare?
I need to know too.
Marthah Maple (21:41):
Yeah, okay.
It was basically just therewere dinosaurs that were like
taller than the tallestbuildings.
I was a kid, I was like little,I couldn't have been even eight
years old.
But the dinosaur, they werehuge, they were taller than all
the buildings, and we were liketrying to leave, and my family
was trying to get me out thedoor so we could all run down
the street and run away from thedinosaur, and everybody was
(22:04):
leaving me behind, and Icouldn't keep up, and it was
because I didn't have any sockson.
Averynicegal (22:09):
Oh, you gotta
remember your socks.
I know rule number one withdinosaurs.
Marthah Maple (22:14):
I know, I never
leave without them now.
Scarto46 (22:17):
Did you think in your
nightmare?
Did you see the water glassshaking like they like it does
uh in the movie?
Like where you see like thedrops of the little ripple on
the glass of water.
Averynicegal (22:31):
Dreams like that
when you're younger are scary.
I had some really stupid onesrecurring when I was like young,
and they were like so scary andoutside.
What the hell?
Like, I had a scary one about agiant cat on a train in my
house, and I have a recurringdream.
I'm like, he's gonna get me.
And now it's like it was acartoon cat.
What was he gonna do?
Oh scary when you're little.
Marthah Maple (22:50):
It's scary.
Yeah, isn't it funny how likethose things just stick with you
too?
Like, I can see it like I justhad the dream just now.
It's crazy.
Scarto46 (22:59):
I always had the dream
of falling on a stool.
Did y'all ever have that dream?
Like where you're falling on astool, like you're sitting on a
stool and the stool fallsbackwards.
Marthah Maple (23:08):
I don't think
I've had that.
Scarto46 (23:11):
Okay, I I like I
looked it up and like apparently
it's like it's a thing, it's athing, yeah.
That like people have.
Averynicegal (23:16):
I've never had
that either.
Scarto46 (23:17):
Oh, okay.
I've had that dream a bajilliontimes in my life, probably.
Averynicegal (23:21):
What does it mean?
Did you look up what it means?
Scarto46 (23:23):
Uh I don't know.
We should look it up right now.
Averynicegal (23:25):
You have terrible
balance.
Yeah, look it up, look it up.
Scarto46 (23:28):
Hold on, I'm looking
it up.
Marthah Maple (23:29):
We gotta know.
Averynicegal (23:31):
I've definitely
had the one where you can't run
fast enough, like you're runninginto the street.
Marthah Maple (23:35):
Oh my god, yes.
Averynicegal (23:37):
That one sucks.
Marthah Maple (23:38):
Those are the
worst.
I also have the ones whereyou're just like chewing on your
teeth.
Averynicegal (23:42):
I never had the
teeth dream, but I do have a
recurring dream where I'm inhigh school, but I'm the age I
am now, and they're like, youforgot to take English your
senior year or something, andyou have to go back and do it.
Oh no, older, and I'm like, Idon't want to be here.
This is embarrassing.
I don't know what that means, but that one happens to me.
Marthah Maple (24:02):
I have ones every
once in a while, not very
often, but it's where I have togo back to school and I forgot
the combination to my locker.
Averynicegal (24:09):
I only had a
locker in eighth grade, and I
never had a dream about it, butthat does sound stressful.
Scarto46 (24:15):
I just use the same
password on every locker.
Averynicegal (24:19):
Oh, I thought you
were gonna say password on
anything ever.
Yeah, I was like, what is that?
Scarto46 (24:23):
You ask my daughter,
my daughter knows all my one to
two passwords that I own.
Averynicegal (24:27):
So I'll do a
phishing attack on her later.
Scarto46 (24:30):
Yeah.
Do you want me to tell youabout the dream analysis of
falling backwards in a stool ora chair?
Absolutely.
The general symbolism of thedream is uh loss of control.
The act of falling is a classicdream symbol for feeling a lack
of control, instability andanxiety, the feeling of losing
your balance on a chair or stoolpoints to a significant feeling
of instability.
Regression, falling backwardssuggests a reversal of progress
(24:52):
or a subconscious desire toreturn to a less developed or
earlier state.
Averynicegal (24:56):
Interesting.
I hope that the next time youdream about a stool, you stay on
it.
You stay on.
Marthah Maple (25:02):
Yeah, I hope you
stand up on that stool.
Averynicegal (25:04):
I hope you stand
up on it.
Any provision.
It sounds like I should go toschool.
I will not fall off of it.
Yeah.
You can if you want to.
It's healthy for anybody.
Marthah Maple (25:16):
Okay, so are you
ready to tell us about your
journey as a DJ?
Sure.
How did that start?
Averynicegal (25:25):
Like I said, I
started watching DJs on Twitch,
and really I I don't think Ireally even was like trying to
do it, wanting to do it myself, but it was my friend Kobylax,
who who I've mentioned, like Iloved going into his channel and
he used to have a song requestthing and like trying to request
(25:46):
a song that I thought fit thevibe and like when people would
be like, Oh, this track's good,I'd be like, Oh my god, this
feels great.
And then him being like, youshould try it out, and then him
sending me it's a little likepocket controller, it's probably
like a little bit half the sizeof a regular size keyboard.
(26:07):
And sent me some headphones, and I bought the software, and I
have another friend who's mymod, his name's the Wicked
Weasels, who's also a DJ, andstarted watching YouTube videos
and having a wicked help melearn the basics because there
is quite a bit of a learningcurve if you're just going into
it blind.
Scarto46 (26:27):
Oh yeah, sure.
Averynicegal (26:29):
And then I did
rent a controller for a little
while to to learn on a biggercontroller, but started
practicing and then I do it onand off when I had time because
life and work and then I mmostly focus on my gaming
channel, but in the past year orso I got a nice controller,
(26:50):
like really spending timetightening up my transitions and
getting better at it and justaccumulating music and learning
more.
There's always more to learn.
It's such an interesting artform because like when I started
watching Kobe Lakes, I waslike, why do DJs wear
headphones?
Are they just listening to themusic?
They are, but they'relistening, they have headphones
because they're listening to thenext track and they're lining
(27:10):
up the next track to be able tolike transition.
And I didn't understand any ofthat.
I was just like, this is fun.
Starting from knowing nothingand being the idiot about it,
and then locking down andlearning more of the past year,
and then I I created a very niceDJ.
I did used to DJ on a very nicegal, but the Twitch created the
(27:31):
DJ program specifically for DJsfor the music licensing stuff.
So I ended up making a verynice DJ, and when I was looking
up the username, I was like, please, fingers crossed, please
have a very nice DJ.
This would be perfect.
And they it was still availableand I was really excited so I
could keep my branding over onthe DJ side of things.
But I do sets there like onceor twice a month.
(27:54):
Sort of a pop-up thing rightnow.
I want I want to do it moreregularly because I really do
enjoy it and it's something Iwant to grow, but I've been more
focused on the gaming side ofthings.
Marthah Maple (28:04):
When it comes to
the DJing and you being so new
and learning as you're going, Icould not imagine putting myself
out there to be perceived doingsomething that I'm still trying
to learn and figure out.
So how did Yeah, how did youdecide that's something that you
wanted to do?
Averynicegal (28:25):
It took me a long
time to feel comfortable enough
to do it in front of people.
Like I practiced for a longtime before I was like, all
right, I'm gonna do I'm gonna doit live because DJing itself is
a lot of thinking.
DJing itself and also having 10people try to talk to you at
once is a lot and try to beentertaining.
(28:45):
So it took me a while to getcomfortable enough to want to do
it in front of people.
I did one DJ set as like asub-goal and I didn't quite know
the basics yet.
I didn't know how to beat matchyet, but did one set and got
the initial oh, people arewatching me do this out of the
way, and I I didn't touch it fora while until I had the idea to
(29:06):
use the tiny controller thatKobilax had sent me and use I
have these little hands.
Marthah Maple (29:14):
I like the little
hands, the tiny hands that fit
on your finger?
Averynicegal (29:18):
Yes, which I was
already using on my gaming
channel to do being boozledbecause I wanted to make it
interesting.
So I would do being boozled, but I had these little hands
with little arms and littlesleeves, and like opening the
box, and it was obviouslychaotic because it's really hard
to do anything with sticks forhands.
And I was like, what if I tookthe tiny controller and took the
(29:39):
little hands and I did that fora little while, and it weirdly
it made me get better at DJingbecause I had to slow down and
just like you have to slow downwhen you have sticks for hands
and really learn how to beatmatch, which was a really weird
way to get better at somethingusing doll hands, but I think it
actually did make me a betterDJ.
(30:01):
I haven't done that in a while, and I want to bring tiny DJ
back because they're a lot offun.
Marthah Maple (30:04):
No, that sounds
like so much fun.
Scarto46 (30:06):
Yeah, that's awesome.
Marthah Maple (30:07):
When you put it
as one of your sub goals, did
you put it there as like a Ireally hope we hit this?
It would be so dope to be ableto do it.
Averynicegal (30:13):
No, my mom, he was
like, put it up there, do it.
And I was like, I don't thinkI'm ready.
And he was like, No, do it.
And I'm like, okay, fine, Idon't think I'll hit it.
And then I did, and it waslike, okay, I guess I gotta do
this now.
Scarto46 (30:24):
That's freaking
awesome, dude.
Averynicegal (30:26):
But it did, I
think I needed the kind of a
kick in the butt to like just doit because you're not gonna be
good at something when you firststart.
You just gotta start doingstuff.
I'm very perfectionist-minded,so the initial doing it and not
being great is like a challengefor me.
Marthah Maple (30:43):
Yeah, my little
brother is a DJ and says songs
and stuff.
Yeah, but he's very much stuckin the it has to be perfect
before anybody can hear it.
And I keep trying to tell her, like, it's okay to be imperfect
in the beginning.
You just gotta get it outthere, you gotta get over that
hump.
Scarto46 (31:02):
I think that's all
create creative pieces, right?
Everyone's always afraid ofbecause every because art's like
something that comes frominside you, and so when you
share that with someone, you'relike, I don't know, sounded good
to me.
What do you think?
And it's like a very personalthing.
Averynicegal (31:14):
It's vulnerable,
yeah.
Scarto46 (31:15):
Yeah, it's very
vulnerable.
Averynicegal (31:17):
Yeah, I do think
that I never touched producing
music, that's another ballballpark, but I think just DJing
itself gets me into a mindsetof I'm just in the moment now,
you just have to do it, and Ithink that part of it has.
Been really healthy for me.
I think I thrive when I'm justlike forced to be in the moment.
(31:38):
And you like you have to be.
You're like juggling for fourhours when you're DJing.
You're just gonna keep going.
Oh, that transition wasn't thebest, but you know what?
You keep going, you get better, and yeah.
Scarto46 (31:50):
So, how would you
describe your sound as you as
others hear it?
What genres or instruments doyou gravitate towards?
Like, what do you want tocreate?
Averynicegal (31:59):
With music, I am
definitely a house DJ.
I love house music.
That's most of my musiccollection right now.
I love electronic music ingeneral.
I think that's where I want tostay with music.
Who knows?
But I love house music.
I'm more I'm the mostcomfortable with house music
because I know a lot of housemusic.
(32:19):
I love drum and bass.
I do want to branch out intoother electronic genres, but I
think house is home for me forsure.
Marthah Maple (32:27):
If I opened your
profile on SoundCloud right now,
is there a song that you wouldsay if you listen to absolutely
nothing else, you have to checkthis one out?
Averynicegal (32:37):
I think my
favorite one is I Wanna Fall in
Love Before This Mix is Over.
Scarto46 (32:43):
I actually listened to
I Wanna Fall in Love Before
This Mix Is Over, and it wasdope.
Like I had it playing while Iwas working, it was fire.
Averynicegal (32:51):
Thank you, thank
you.
I was really pleased with thatone.
I like to I like pick thesongs, string them together, and
then try to think of what vibeis this giving, what name naming
them is really fun for me.
Like naming them, picking theartwork is really fun.
Because I think when you'relistening to a song, it's one
(33:13):
thing to just listen to a soundfile, but to look at a picture
that I feel like encapsulatesthat mix gives it another like
warm feeling to me.
Scarto46 (33:23):
Totally, dude.
That's exactly that like lineof thought is how we thought
about like each of theseepisodes of Gamer Tagged, is
that the cover art on each oneof them is different because
they represent the digitalidentity we're talking to.
And so 100% it's it gives you adifferent impression or vibe.
It does connect with it thatway.
Averynicegal (33:43):
I think that's
really cool.
Scarto46 (33:44):
Yeah.
What are your goals though?
You said you've been DJing fora little bit, but do you have
any goals related to music?
Do you want this to be a goodtime or a discovery?
You want to grow that?
Averynicegal (33:53):
I have been trying
to figure that out because I
love my gaming channel and Ilove DJing, and I only have so
much time.
And I have to and I have aregular job too.
Scarto46 (34:04):
Yeah.
Averynicegal (34:05):
I would love to
see the DJ account grow and have
that be something that's notonly fun, but potentially making
money doing that would bereally cool.
As of right now, I don't haveany specific goals, I just want
to keep doing it.
I'd love to do a show in frontof real people at some point.
I've only ever done it like onTwitch.
(34:27):
And I think I said that duringa set once.
I was like, I want to do it infront of real people.
And one of my viewers was like,We're real.
And I was like, No, you're not, you're in my computer.
But I think that's a goal ofmine is to like DJ in front of a
real crowd because you cansense energy from chat, but
having like real people in frontof you reacting, and that would
(34:47):
be really cool.
Scarto46 (34:48):
It's gotta be harder
to do it on Twitch for that
exact reason.
Cause like at best, you can'tfeel the energy in the room, you
can't feel the vibe in theroom, but like you're vibing and
you're hoping that people likeare picking up what you're
projecting.
Yeah.
But like in an environment, Ithink, if nothing else, like
doing it on Twitch is harder forthat reason.
Averynicegal (35:07):
I think you're
right.
I think you're right.
It's at least reading energyfor sure.
Um you just have to do what youlike and hope that other people
like it too.
You can get reactions of oh,there's more dancing emotes now,
they must like this, but youjust have to trust yourself.
But it's like that with comedyand streaming as well.
You're not hearing peoplelaugh.
(35:27):
Did that joke land?
I don't know.
Someone put a lull in the chat.
So I guess that one was funny, but with no like live audience,
you just it really has makes youtrust yourself.
Marthah Maple (35:38):
I'm curious with
your DJing.
So you said you started outdoing it on a very nice gal, and
then you decide to branch outand make it its own thing.
Averynicegal (35:48):
Yeah.
Marthah Maple (35:49):
Why did you
decide to do that?
And do you think that you'llever transition from the gaming
into solely DJing?
Is that the dream?
Averynicegal (35:57):
I created a very
nice DJ because Twitch was
cracking down on copyrightmusic, and they created the DJ
program specifically for DJs toplay copyrighted music without
getting in trouble.
I don't know if I want to doDJing solely.
I'd like to imagine a universewhere I can do both, but I guess
(36:22):
we'll just see where life takesme.
I love playing games and I loveDJing, so I'd like to continue
doing both of them.
Scarto46 (36:29):
You mentioned comedy
just a few minutes ago.
And I told you before the showthat like I legit laughed out
loud at the your shorts, likethe I was looking at your
Twitter and your TikTok, andyou're freaking hilarious.
So how did improv comedy comeinto your life?
I'm super curious about that.
Because that's like your thirdhat you're wearing here in
create in Creativityville.
Averynicegal (36:51):
Yeah, so I d I I
don't know exactly.
I think I like with gaming orwhatever, just providing
commentary with gaming andreacting to things in the moment
is really fun.
And I guess that's where theimprov bug hit me.
(37:12):
I love comedy in general.
Scarto46 (37:13):
Like yeah, I watched
one of your VODs of the
character Your Dad, which isridiculous, so freaking funny.
So, where did that charactercome from?
What was the inspiration ofyour dad?
Averynicegal (37:26):
Okay, so here's
the story of how that even
became a thing.
So I created a throne account,right?
You guys know what throne is?
What is throne?
No, it's like you can create awish list of items on like
Amazon and stuff, and thenpeople can buy it for you
without knowing your address,basically.
So they buy it, and then throneis like a third party that
ships it to you.
(37:46):
So I added some stuff becausesomeone asked me for my throne,
and I was like, I don't knowwhat this is.
So I just started adding stuffto it, like stuff I actually
wanted to make to enhance mystream and make my stream
better.
And then I saw a bald cap and Iwas like, I'm just gonna put
this on here because I thinkthis is stupid.
And on Throne, you can put inlike text underneath it, and I
(38:08):
literally put in all caps, donot buy this.
And the next stream, my mod,the Wicked Weasels, bought it
for me.
Scarto46 (38:17):
Hell yeah.
Averynicegal (38:17):
All right, and it
came in, and then I think the
concept of that becoming dead.
I took that idea and ran withit, and I was like, what if I
just did a stream as him and itbecame a joke on stream?
I think like the details arecluzy of how it actually became
(38:39):
how I did the first one.
I think I was like, if we hitthe sub goal, those sub goals
are changing your life.
Yeah, they are they do.
They've also made me do somereally weird things.
But so yeah, I hit that subgoal and I did it.
And the first stream, I waslike, I'm gonna go get a tie
from my dad's closet and I'mgonna draw on a mustache and
(39:03):
make my eyebrows really bushyand put some like brown
eyeshadow under my eyes, so itlooks like I haven't slept very
well.
And classic.
And so then it just became mysub goal every month.
Marthah Maple (39:15):
Do you look
forward to it?
Averynicegal (39:17):
I do, but they
scare me because every time I'm
so nervous because I don't knowwhat I'm I don't know what I'm
gonna say.
I have a very general outlineof oh, I'm gonna just chatting
for this amount of time.
Scarto46 (39:26):
You had an eight-hour
stream of you playing Peak as
your dad, and I thought your dadASMR was so freaking you were
like, hello kids.
It was freaking hilarious.
Marthah Maple (39:36):
Talking about the
your dad ASMR for three days.
Oh my god, you enjoyed it.
Scarto46 (39:42):
It was ridiculous, it
was so good.
Averynicegal (39:45):
Well, on my normal
streams, it's Avery Avery SMR,
and that was an idea that my modhad because my mic is very
sensitive, and he was like, Youshould make it a redeem where
you have to do ASMR.
And so then when I did the dadstreams, I was like, Well, has
to be dad ASMR, not right.
Um, and it's always funny whendad does it because he always
wants to yell, so then he's inhe ends up having to to whisper
(40:06):
yell at you.
Scarto46 (40:07):
You like tap the can
and you were like, You hear
that's a cold beer right there.
Averynicegal (40:13):
And then I choked
on it, I remember that.
Scarto46 (40:16):
Yeah.
Marthah Maple (40:18):
Oh god, don't
slurp a beer not close to the
mic.
Who are you channeling whenyou're doing this character?
Is it like one dad or is thatall dads?
Averynicegal (40:27):
He is very loosely
based on my dad.
Nice and my dad, and like justdad stereotypes in general, and
like the idea of looking atmarital relationships in a
satirical kind of way.
Scarto46 (40:44):
Yeah.
Averynicegal (40:44):
Um, but he is
based on my dad.
You do what you I've nevershown clips of it to my dad
because I feel like he wouldthink I'm making fun of him, but
I'm not.
Oh it's really it comes from aplace of love.
Because the whole thing aboutdad, he's a very fully fleshed
out character to me.
I know exactly who he is in myhead.
He's a curmudgeon and he'sgrumpy, but he's he loves his
(41:05):
kids and he wants to take careof them.
He's a wholesome dude, he'sjust grumpy, and that's my dad.
Scarto46 (41:11):
The thumbnail you had
was like you wearing like
fishing sunglasses, and you hada power drill in your hand, like
it was a pistol.
It was ridiculous, dude.
I that was so funny.
It is it is such a dadstereotype, 100%.
Averynicegal (41:25):
Yeah, I live near
my parents, and my dad has a
bajillion tools for all thestuff that he does.
So what I do is go in there andpick five random things and
then bring them back.
And I don't think I did thislast dad stream, but I'll do
tool time with dad and justexplain to you how to use the
tool, but I like vaguely knowhow to use it, but or I just
(41:46):
make something up.
Marthah Maple (41:47):
You tell him
you're taking his tools.
Averynicegal (41:49):
I do sometimes,
but because it won't get mad if
I don't put them back, which isexactly what dad would do.
Scarto46 (41:55):
Uh all dads explain
tools the same way you just did,
which is I think this is how itworks.
I don't know.
You try to do it.
I don't know.
Averynicegal (42:01):
I don't
redirections, I just do it.
Scarto46 (42:03):
Move your hands
around.
Who knows?
I think my favorite characteryou have, though, is the
therapist.
Because, like, I was watchingyou playing simulation with that
with the therapist, and I thinkI yelled, get therapy like
eight times after you did itbecause it was just so funny.
And my wife's like, What areyou laughing at?
I was like, This is freakinghilarious, dude.
Oh, that's makes me feel nice.
You were engaging with thecharacter, and you're like,
(42:25):
Yeah, hey, dude, pay me for thefull sesh, bro.
I'll see you later.
And you're like, therapy.
Bye.
Averynicegal (42:32):
No, that was fun.
That those streams, I was like,I was gonna play that game, and
I was like, you know what?
I should dress up as therapist.
This would make it funnier.
It just happened in the moment, but yeah, that was a really fun
game.
It's only in demo mode.
I want to play the full, I wantto play the full game.
I hope it comes out.
Marthah Maple (42:46):
Do those like
when you're playing the therapy
sim or the nightclub owner sim,and you're like dressed up and
you're like really embodyingthem.
Do you see that as a character?
And do you think that theywould show up in streams outside
of their respective simulators?
Averynicegal (43:00):
The only real
character I do is dad.
I've thought about what elsecould I do?
Create another character or trysomething new.
But as far as like thesimulator games, when I'm like
being a therapist or being theowner or whatever, it's just off
the cuff.
But with dad, like I know Icould answer any question as him
(43:22):
because I know exactly who heis in my head.
And I think that makes itreally fun.
Scarto46 (43:27):
What inspires you to
like simulator whatever when
you're like gonna, you knowwhat, I'm just gonna play this
and play a character outside ofdad, because dad's like kind of
a maybe a separate thing.
Like, what inspires you to dothose streams?
Is it like yourself or thecommunity or I just think
they're silly and fun.
Yeah, they're fun, right?
Averynicegal (43:45):
Yeah, and they're
just they're like my favorite
kind of thing to just immersemyself in and have fun with it.
They're not super skill-based,they've got the story, like I
can improv around whatever thedialogue is.
Like, it's just fun.
Marthah Maple (44:02):
Do you have any
goals for your improv?
Would you want to take it toyour neighborhood comedy club?
Averynicegal (44:12):
I went and saw an
improv show in Austin and I was
like, this would be really fun.
I think it would be fun to likeactually take a class and
explore it in the real world.
Right now, I just want to keepgrowing my a very nice gal
channel.
Scarto46 (44:27):
Hell yeah.
Keep jamming on it.
Averynicegal (44:30):
Yeah, yeah.
Scarto46 (44:31):
All right, so we
talked about the three different
sides of a very nice gal, right?
Gaming, DJing, improv.
So wearing all those hats, howdo they play together?
Do you like consider them allone thing?
Like they're just arepresentation of you, or are
they like different separateparts of you?
Averynicegal (44:49):
I think they're
all a part of me.
Even like dad, or there's me inthere too.
Yeah.
Uh and I think they're all justseparate ways of expressing
myself and showing that topeople, which is still scary for
all three of them.
I get nervous still.
(45:09):
But I love doing it and it'sfun.
And just being in the moment, Ithink that's what attracted me
to streaming, live streaming, improv, DJing are all things
you're doing it now, and you'rein front of people, and you
gotta go like you're in themoment.
And that's scary, but also likefun and attractive to me.
Scarto46 (45:30):
Yeah.
You feel like you're pushingyourself in that way, like
you're yeah, really yeah.
I get that.
Marthah Maple (45:36):
I feel like I
work well off the cuff with
these very different but alsosomehow very similar sides of
you and content that you create.
Do you find yourself learninglessons in one that you are
applying to the others?
Averynicegal (45:53):
I keep learning
the same lesson of just trust
yourself.
That's something that Istruggle with is just trust
yourself for it to be good orfunny, or maybe it's not the
best, but just trust yourself todo it and do your best.
That's a big lesson I'velearned from all of this.
Scarto46 (46:11):
I think that's like
really great life advice, right?
Which is you're gonna do somestuff, you're gonna learn some
stuff, all you can really do istrust yourself.
Averynicegal (46:18):
You gotta get out
there and you gotta put your
ball cap on and get your mascaramustache, and so when you're
mixing it, let me ask you ifyou've ever thought about this.
Scarto46 (46:31):
Like when you're
mixing, do you feel like that's
part of partially improv?
Do you have a plan in place foreach set?
You go in there with a set listand you're like, Yep, I know
what I'm gonna do, but or do youfeel like you like that trying
to figure out what that nextstep is, that timing, that like
how to place it?
Averynicegal (46:49):
My first set was
completely planned because I was
just like freaking out aboutit.
And I was like, I have to planevery tight little thing because
I don't want to mess it up.
And I was also still learninghow to do it all, and I just
wasn't even at a place where Icould improv.
But when I do sets now, Iusually pick like the first
three songs so that if peopleare coming in at the beginning,
(47:10):
I have I know what I'm doing andI'm not like scrambling.
And then after that, it's justI don't know, figure it out.
If I record like a mix onSoundCloud for SoundCloud, for
the most part, I will I willplan those so they really sound
like solid.
Marthah Maple (47:23):
It sounds like
you at the very least are
planning like what's gonna getyou to the momentum to have that
energy to keep it going.
And then once you get thatmomentum, you let your instincts
take over.
Averynicegal (47:35):
You just let it
go.
And what's weird is at leastfor me, you do an hour and then
you hit this point where it'sjust like you're in like a flow
state, and it's just this song, grab this song, do this, and
it's a really cool place to becreatively that I have not
gotten from any other medium, but you just you're just in it
and it's magical.
Marthah Maple (47:56):
That's awesome.
When we were talking to you atthe very beginning of our
conversation, asking you todescribe like your younger self
before you became this contentcreator, before you really had
this digital identity, and youwere talking about how shy you
were and how you were that youjust wanted to paint and you
just wanted to be in the artroom, you just wanted to observe
(48:17):
what was going on around youand not be immediately part of
it.
Averynicegal (48:20):
I yeah.
If my little weirdo high schoolself could see me now, they'd
be like, What?
You do what on the internet?
You do what?
Uh huh.
You put a ball cap on?
And what?
Marthah Maple (48:31):
But do you feel
like you're doing do you feel
like you're honoring the quietparts of her putting yourself
out there like this?
Do you feel like maybe that'ssomething that she wanted to do
all along and now you'reactually doing it?
Averynicegal (48:44):
I think so for
sure.
Yeah.
I think my whole life I wantedto be like seen and liked.
I think everybody wants to beliked, but just never really had
the confidence to put myselfout there and really go for it.
The streaming, this wholejourney has been very cathartic
for me.
Like I'm much more confidentthan I was four or five years
(49:09):
ago.
I know myself so much better.
I think little me would be veryproud of the fact that I can do
stuff like this in front ofpeople and enjoy it and feel
good at it.
I think she'd be proud of me.
She would too.
Scarto46 (49:23):
Yeah, I do too.
I think it's so cool that likeyou've put yourself into
positions that made youuncomfortable to learn new parts
about yourself.
Like, that's beautiful.
Marthah Maple (49:33):
Yeah, and you
mentioned like that streaming
and trying all of thesedifferent things and finding the
things that you really love, enjoy, and want to share with
people has made you feel moreconfident.
Are there other ways that youthink that it has changed you?
Averynicegal (49:48):
It's definitely
made me more more fearless.
I'm willing to like try stuffon stream and trust myself to go
off on a random bit orsomething because I think it's
funny and I'm like, I'm gonna doit.
Whereas two years ago I'd belike, I don't know, is it gonna
be good?
So like more more fearless, more confidence.
(50:09):
Just it's been really good forme.
I don't know.
I'm very grateful for what it'sshown me and the community that
I have and how they'vesupported me too.
That's been an amazing journey.
I have people from that I meton Twitch that like didn't know
me, didn't know what I lookedlike, and supported me at that
(50:30):
point, and now it's three yearslater and they're still there,
and it's it's so cool.
Scarto46 (50:34):
That's so cool.
Averynicegal (50:36):
Yeah.
Scarto46 (50:36):
Looking at all the
things on the outside, like of a
very nice gal.
I think I've really enjoyedjust like talking to you and
getting to know you andunderstanding that a very nice
gal taught you a lot of thingsabout yourself.
Because we sure we use thesedigital identities to, I don't
know, be the thing we want to beand like learn the things we
want to learn in ways that wecan't or don't know how in real
(50:57):
life.
And I think that's really cool,man.
All right.
So are you ready to do someimagining with us?
A very nice gal?
So I guess.
Imagining.
Okay.
So we're going to imagine avery nice gal, your digital
persona.
Will you set the scene for us?
So a very nice gal enters theframe.
If you imagine what a very nicegal looks like, how would you
(51:20):
describe it?
Just like physically, the vibe, the like what she's wearing,
what's the environment aroundher?
Like, okay.
Averynicegal (51:29):
She has a mop of
curly hair, and she is wearing
something comfortable andholding some sort of prop
because I love props.
Marthah Maple (51:43):
What a prop.
I have a stick-on mustache, adrill.
Averynicegal (51:48):
They're sitting
right next to me right now.
Marthah Maple (51:49):
Oh, a drill.
Averynicegal (51:50):
I've got a drill,
I've got two vintage telephones,
I've got a pan flute, ascientific calculator, various
hats, sunglasses.
I love I do love a good prop.
Marthah Maple (52:02):
Is there anything
that like if we just put it on
screen, your community wouldimmediately know like that's a
very nice gal.
Averynicegal (52:11):
Why am I like
drawing complete blank of who I
am right now?
Marthah Maple (52:15):
It's a hard
question.
Scarto46 (52:16):
That's okay.
That's okay.
Marthah Maple (52:17):
Let's talk about
colors.
Yeah, let's just talk aboutcolors, man.
Averynicegal (52:21):
I like pink.
Yes, girl.
I know.
I used to hate pink, and Ireally I fall in love with it.
The older I've gotten.
Scarto46 (52:29):
Yeah, maple loves
pink.
Marthah Maple (52:31):
I'm obsessed with
it.
It's actually a problem, but Ican't stop leaning into it.
Averynicegal (52:37):
It's there's
nothing wrong with that.
Enjoy your pink, girl.
No, there's so much pink.
Scarto46 (52:43):
What's your favorite
color of pink?
There's multitudes of differentshades of pink.
Averynicegal (52:47):
Yeah, personally,
I like like a pale pink, but the
pink that I use on my channelis closer to Martha's pink here
on Discord.
But not a hot pink, but notsuper muted either.
Somewhere in the middle.
I I have my brand colors are onmy Twitch.
I have color bars.
I love vintage technology, somy colors are sort of the screen
(53:10):
that comes up when the TV goeswonky.
Marthah Maple (53:13):
What kind of a
space are we in?
You said you like horror stuff.
You enjoy doing that.
Averynicegal (53:20):
You're also in a
long hallway with lots of
sconces.
My viewers will know that.
My viewers will get that.
Okay.
Okay.
I have a sconce alert redeemwhen I play horror games because
me and my best friend figuredout that no matter what horror
game you play, there will be along hallway or a hallway with
some sort of sconce likelighting picture.
(53:40):
And so when someone spots it,they can redeem it.
I also have a sconce emote anda sconce channel in my Discord.
So we're very proud of that.
Marthah Maple (53:48):
You play, you
must play a lot of horror.
Averynicegal (53:51):
A lot.
Scarto46 (53:51):
That's freaking cool,
man.
I've never vibed on horrorgames.
I've always or scary movies.
I can't do either one.
So mad respect for you.
Marthah Maple (53:59):
Thank you.
There's something about itthat's just funny to me and fun.
I don't know.
Scarto46 (54:04):
Because it's you feel
like it's because it's trying so
hard and you're like, yeah,dude.
Okay.
Scary.
Averynicegal (54:08):
Yeah, like a lot
of them are just like
ridiculous.
There's some that are likegross, but most of them are just
like oops, just they're justsilly to me.
And of course, yes, I do getjump scared.
If something jumps out, I willget spooked.
And I have redeemed that makesounds go off, and that will
scare me.
But the game itself is this isjust it's just responded silly
(54:30):
to me.
Marthah Maple (54:31):
All right, a very
nice gal.
We've talked about yourbeginnings, we've talked about
your entry into contentcreation.
Are you ready to turn yourdigital identity into a trading
card so that our listeners cansee what you see in yourself?
Yeah.
Averynicegal (54:49):
Yes, let's do it.
Scarto46 (54:52):
Well, we're gonna play
a game called Reroll.
So on the Gamer Tag Podcast, weplay re-roll.
And how this works throughoutthe podcast, we've been taking
notes as you've been talking anddescribing different elements
of your life, your journey, yourstyle, your vibe.
And so we've documented allthose things, and we'll share
the screen with you so you cansee everything we've captured
(55:13):
about you, and we'll read thosethings off to you.
And then we will take all ofthat and put it into a bot, and
we'll do our first reroll thatis Martha and my notes from this
conversation.
After that, the bot willgenerate a picture of a very
nice gal.
From there, you have twore-rolls, and they're optional,
(55:37):
and you can choose to changeanything you want about the
picture.
Oh, after that, it'll generatean image of a very nice gal, a
title, and a description.
Are you ready for me to showyou what we've captured about
you?
Averynicegal (55:52):
Yes.
Scarto46 (55:54):
Sweet.
Okay.
So key personality traits.
You are a former shy kid turnedinto a fearless creator.
You're you love acrylicpainting.
You're very nice in all caps.
You're always looking for thehumor, you're creative as hell,
and you love the feeling, youlove feeling the laughter and
people connecting to yourcreations.
(56:16):
Preferred roles and gameplay.
You're an observer, you're acreative DJ, you're a cosplayer,
you're an energy reader, andyou're always learning.
In your favorite genres andworlds, you love RuneScape, you
love horror games, Heavy Rain, you mentioned, spooky games, um,
and you love house music andEDM.
Yeah.
(56:36):
In your signature style andvibe, you're an artistic,
hilarious lady who lovesstory-based, choice-driven
games, electric DJ, improvcomedian, power tools nearby,
loves props, vintage technology, evolution of a quiet, shy kid
into a fun creator.
Averynicegal (56:56):
Cool.
Scarto46 (56:57):
And for your visual
inspiration, you said you you
described this yourself.
A mop of curly hair wearingsomething comfortable and
holding an antiquated telephone, loves pink, and we got your hex
code of the pink color.
A long hallway with lots ofsconces, gold stars, two cats,
hates math.
Averynicegal (57:16):
I'm curious how
the hates math is gonna come
into this.
Scarto46 (57:19):
Can't wait to see
that.
Who knows?
Averynicegal (57:21):
Alto, I would like
to think that I am an improved
comedian, but um I think it'slook, spelling is hard, okay?
Scarto46 (57:32):
Spelling is very hard.
I hate spelling like you hatemath.
Marthah Maple (57:35):
You know, you are
improving comedy though.
By spelling your dead, please.
Scarto46 (57:45):
So this is what we
captured about you.
What do you think?
This like, do you feel like wecaptured what represents a very
nice gal?
Averynicegal (57:52):
Uh I like it.
I like it.
I I think I like watercolorpainting more than acrylic
painting.
Okay.
Marthah Maple (58:00):
Oh, okay.
I would love to see some ofyour art pieces if you ever felt
like dropping it in the chat.
Averynicegal (58:08):
I can dig up, I
really haven't painted in such a
long time, but when I waspainting, watercolor was
definitely my favorite.
Scarto46 (58:14):
Our goal is to make is
to make you feel seen, right?
Um, yeah.
Coming out of reroll, that'swhat we want.
Is like trying this, we'reasking in to create something
that represents you know, uh animage that makes you feel seen.
So we have no idea what thiswill do.
It could be crazy.
(58:34):
So you want to roll and seewhat happens.
Averynicegal (58:37):
I love I I I do I
love feeling like people
enjoying my content andconnecting with what I'm
creating, and also feeling likeuh inspiring someone else to to
try something new and and putthemselves out there.
Scarto46 (58:53):
Hell yeah.
Um so let's include that inyour key personality traits.
Inspiring someone else to putthemselves out there and try
something new.
Averynicegal (59:00):
Yeah.
I like it.
Scarto46 (59:02):
All right.
Um well let's see what thefirst image looks like.
Averynicegal (59:08):
Okay, here we go.
Marthah Maple (59:17):
There's the curly
hair.
Scarto46 (59:19):
So for our listeners,
we captured the the pink, right?
So she's uh she's mixing on apink table.
She's holding her antiquatedphone, has her power drill
nearby, her cats nearby, um, hermop of curly hair, and all of
the sconces down this longhallway.
Marthah Maple (59:36):
And the gold
stars.
And the gold stars.
I like how one of them turnedinto an earring.
Averynicegal (59:42):
Yeah.
Right?
That I really love the sconcesand the gold stars.
The cats don't really look likemy kitties.
Well, actually, the orange onekind of looks like goose because
he's an orange tabby.
My hair's a little bit longer,but it's very cute.
I love all the pink.
Scarto46 (01:00:00):
Well, this is your
first reroll, and we can change
anything you want about thispicture.
Fair warning.
We have no idea what it willdo.
As Rhinozara says, it's usuallylike a genie.
You ask it for one thing andthen it delivers something else.
But that's what it's all about.
So you get two more changes.
You can we can tweak anythingyou want to do.
Averynicegal (01:00:20):
I would like the
black cat to look like a t a
tortoiseshell cat.
I have to do I try and doFrankie justice.
And then I wish my hair waslonger.
Like shoulder length.
Scarto46 (01:00:37):
Okay, alright.
I'm gonna write this prompt andthen we'll all agree on it
before we hit the button.
Okay.
Averynicegal (01:00:44):
And yeah.
The DJ controller makes nosense, but asking a DJ asking AI
to make an accurate DJcontroller is probably gonna be
impossible.
Marthah Maple (01:00:52):
So look legit to
me.
I like how happy the orange catlooks and how pissed off the
black.
Averynicegal (01:01:01):
It's very that's
very accurate because Goose is a
silly little goober and he'slike a joyful little bundle of
cuteness, and Frankie's like, don't sing, do not pet me too
much.
I he's a sassy little diva.
So I love I love theexpressions of the cats.
Scarto46 (01:01:15):
Okay, so the prompt
says, I love everything about
this picture, all caps.
Could you change the black catto a diluted torty?
Please make the hair, pleasemake the woman's hair, woman's
hair, shoulder length, pleasemake the DJ cat.
Controller have two jog wheels.
(01:01:36):
Please keep everything else thesame about this picture.
Averynicegal (01:01:41):
I think that's
good.
Scarto46 (01:01:43):
Okay.
Are we all agreed this is thisis gonna make magic?
Averynicegal (01:01:48):
Yes.
Scarto46 (01:01:49):
Well, a very nice gal.
This is your second reroll.
Marthah Maple (01:01:53):
Here we go.
I like that the hall is thesame.
Oh, where'd Goose go?
There goes Goose, which is atail.
Averynicegal (01:02:05):
I wish Goose was
still there.
Frankie looks better.
She looks happier.
Scarto46 (01:02:09):
And we got two wheels
in this.
Averynicegal (01:02:11):
It looks like
she's plotting.
She yeah, she's putting on aface and she's ready to walk on
my DJ controller, which shelikes to do while I'm streaming.
And I'm like, get off.
Okay.
I wish Goose was back.
Scarto46 (01:02:26):
Well, we can make a
deal.
We can try anything for yourthird reroll.
And if you totally hate it, andthis feels like a better
representation of you, we couldkeep this one.
Averynicegal (01:02:36):
So if I if we do
another one, I'm not like locked
into whatever it is.
Scarto46 (01:02:39):
We can I mean that was
how the game's supposed to be
played, but our real goal is tomake sure you're seen.
Because you could literallyprompt AI for like 20 years and
hope that it works, you know?
Averynicegal (01:02:47):
So yeah, yeah.
Scarto46 (01:02:49):
Okay.
Whatever you want to, whateveryou want to try to do, we can
try to do.
Averynicegal (01:02:52):
Okay, let's try
to.
Scarto46 (01:02:55):
I want is it really
the cat?
Is it really the the cat iswhat you want to solve?
Marthah Maple (01:03:00):
Yeah, and I wish
my I wish my hair was curlier.
Scarto46 (01:03:04):
Okay, so our prompt is
please keep everything in the
scene the same about thispicture in all caps.
I love it all.
Can you please place the yellowcat back in the picture?
I would like the hair on thewoman to be this curly, but the
length of this current pictureof but to be shoulder length.
(01:03:35):
Okay, to be as curly as theincluded picture.
Averynicegal (01:03:38):
And remain
shoulder length.
Marthah Maple (01:03:41):
I think that's I
like a very nice gal.
Scarto46 (01:03:45):
I do too.
She's she's super cool.
Marthah Maple (01:03:48):
Yeah, so much.
I like you dice too.
Scarto46 (01:03:53):
Alright, this could
probably work.
I think it could happen.
And are you ready to do yourthird reroll?
Averynicegal (01:04:01):
Cross your
fingers.
Scarto46 (01:04:02):
Okay.
Averynicegal (01:04:08):
We've got goose,
we've got sconces, we've got
stars, tools, two dog wheels, and I'm not, I'm not, I'm not
mad at the hair.
Scarto46 (01:04:17):
All right, cool.
Yes.
We did it.
Thank you.
Averynicegal (01:04:21):
Look how happy
Goose is.
He's such a happy little bit.
He's so happy.
And Frankie's staring into theabyss.
She does.
Marthah Maple (01:04:33):
Frankie's just
like, I was summoned.
Averynicegal (01:04:35):
Yeah.
I was goose for a minute.
It was traumatizing.
Scarto46 (01:04:39):
Martha, could you
describe this picture of the
final reroll for our listeners?
Marthah Maple (01:04:44):
Okay, so we have
a long pink and starry hallway
with sconces on both sides goingall the way down.
We've got a very nice gal.
She's on the phone.
And she's so happy becauseshe's DJing with two jog wheels.
I know what those are.
Do you?
And she is surrounded by bothof her cats, Goose and Frankie,
(01:05:09):
and all of your dad's tools.
Scarto46 (01:05:14):
Hell yeah.
Your title is Laughlines andBass Drops.
Curly haired Joy Bomb spinsbeats with vintage charm flanked
by two cats and tools and aglowing hallway of stars.
Let's go.
Averynicegal (01:05:27):
I love it.
That's cute.
Scarto46 (01:05:29):
Cool, man.
Well, do you feel seen by thatpicture?
Averynicegal (01:05:33):
I do.
It's funny for I play a lot ofhorror games and it's so joyful
and like so bright.
But I mean, that's kind of Ithink that that shows me more
than it being like dark andscary.
I love it.
It's very cute.
Hell yeah.
Marthah Maple (01:05:49):
Well, I mean, you
did say when you play those
horror games, you are looking tofind the humor in them.
Averynicegal (01:05:54):
Exactly.
Yeah.
I think it it's trying to findcapturing that.
The sconce, if you will.
Oh.
Scarto46 (01:06:01):
You've built a world
where music, comedy, and games
all collide.
So if someone finds yourstreams years from now, long
after your dad and the jokes andthe house sets, w what do you
hope they feel the first timethey find your concept?
Averynicegal (01:06:16):
I hope they feel
joyful and have a good laugh and
fun spirited atmosphere andsafe and comfortable to be
yourself.
Scarto46 (01:06:31):
That's awesome, dude.
Averynicegal (01:06:33):
Yeah.
Scarto46 (01:06:34):
So much fun.
Marthah Maple (01:06:35):
It's been super
cool.
Like you just you have so manyelements to your personality and
like so many things that you'reexploring.
It's been really fun.
But with all of those thingsthat you're exploring, I'm
curious what's up next for you.
Averynicegal (01:06:49):
Well, more weird
games to stream.
I'm excited to play some moresimulator games, been digging
into that.
I hope to add on to my currentstream schedule and do more DJ
sets and grow there and share mymusic and just keep being silly
(01:07:12):
because it's fun.
Marthah Maple (01:07:14):
What's dad
cooking up?
Averynicegal (01:07:16):
Well, I've been
exploring dad playing games.
So he played Peak, but maybetrying to play more games as
him.
I think is really fun.
I usually do like we go on adrive, and so I'll find a video
of a major city and pretend todrive around and yell at
pedestrians.
Maybe go camping.
Marthah Maple (01:07:35):
Yeah.
Big adventures for your dad.
Yeah.
Scarto46 (01:07:40):
Well, at the end of
this show, what we love to do is
we love to give the f the floorto our guests.
So whatever you want to say toyour audience or to anyone
listening to this podcast, thefloor is yours.

Averynicegal (01:07:53):

Marthah Maple (01:08:48):

tonight.
Marthah Maple (01:09:06):

Averynicegal (01:09:12):

Scarto46 (01:09:18):

Marthah Maple (01:09:20):
It's been really
cool listening to you tell your
story, and I'm still just likeso stuck on you evolving from
that shy kid that just kept toherself to now you're doing all
these super rad things.
Averynicegal (01:09:37):
Well, thank you.
And it's been an amazingjourney, and I hope to keep
doing it for a while.
