What happens when the gamertag you built your identity around doesn’t fit anymore?
This episode dives into gamertag rebrands, gamer identity shifts, and the quiet power of letting go.

Meet Marthah Maple, a Valorant duelist and competitive FPS player once known as GangstaBoo3000 — a name she used to hide behind. When it stopped reflecting who she really was, she embraced a new era: quieter, softer, kinder, but no less powerful.

We talk:

  • Gamertag rebrands and digital identity transformation
  • Women in competitive FPS games and surviving toxic lobbies
  • The contrast between Twitch personas and IRL vulnerability
  • Softness as strength, Discord lore, and names we grow into
  • Cosmic pink hair, Valorant mains, and how we choose to show up online

🃏 And in the ReRoll, we co-create Marthah’s official Gamertagged Trading CardStar–Shot Silva, a glowing pink-haired elf with cosmic energy, radiant quiet confidence, and a duelist’s spirit wrapped in warmth.

Scarto46 (00:00):
Yeah, man, like Frodo's over here with like
Aerosmith's daughter, and thenall of a sudden it's like
Mountain Dew.
It's like I don't know howthese things relate what?
Yeah, there was a Mountain Dewcommercial with like Game Attack

(00:28):
.
Hey, welcome to Gamertag.
T his is episode three, andtoday we're going to be talking
to Martha Maple.
This episode explores whathappens when we outgrow our
names and the people we werewhen we chose them.
Joining me tonight isPortabella, who will be our
co-host and our editor for thisepisode of Gamertagged.
Martha Maple's journey fromGangstaboo 3000 isn't just a

(00:50):
username swap.
It's a reflection of shiftingidentity, community and
self-expression.
Marthah, thanks for joining ustonight to talk about your
evolution.

Marthah Maple (01:01):
Thank you.
Thank you, I'm excited.

Scarto46 (01:04):
We're super excited.
This, this mic sounds amazing,by the way it does sound very
good, yes wow, wow, okay, um,hey.
So in the first part of thisepisode we're gonna jump into,
like, um, your origin story,right.
So when, uh, when you startedlet's like let's start at the

(01:24):
beginning like your originalgamer tag was not marthah maple,
what were you and what do youremember about, like becoming
that first gamer tag, oridentity?

Marthah Maple (01:39):
yeah, um, I was gangsta boo 3000.

Scarto46 (01:42):
Yeah.

Marthah Maple (01:43):
Yeah, I heard the shit out of that, you know.
So I didn't come up withGangsta Vu 3000 myself.
I was pretty new to like thegaming space.
My ex-husband was a big gamerand I kind of got to the point
where I was like, if you can'tbeat him, join him.

Portabella (02:04):
Yeah.

Marthah Maple (02:10):
And coming up with a name was really hard, I'm
not that creative.
And he was spitballing and saidgangsta boo from three, six
mafia.
And I was like that soundspretty dope, so I went with
gangsta boo.
Uh, that one was taken and myfavorite number is three, so I
went for a three and that one.
It just didn't feel right, so Iadded 3,000 to it bro, were you
thinking like Andre?

Scarto46 (02:30):
3,000 at the time, or what I?

Marthah Maple (02:33):
get that question all the time?
I actually was not.

Portabella (02:37):
I mean, hey, you did it better, yeah yeah, all right
, so you're.

Scarto46 (02:43):
You're just like he.
He gives you this name, right, like that's where you start, and
so what?
What is it like?
Like you have your gamer tagfor the first time, you're
gangsta boo 3000.
Do you introduce yourself tolike people on the street as
gangsta boo 3000, like?
Is that how you roll?

Marthah Maple (03:00):
not at first, man , not at first.
I think I had like a two-weekstunt of streaming for a while
there and then I did, and then Iwas like wait, hold up.

Scarto46 (03:08):
Yeah, like that.
What were you playing back then?

Marthah Maple (03:12):
A lot of Call of Duty.
It's not something I'm proud of, but that's what I was doing.

Scarto46 (03:18):
Like COD 2?
.

Marthah Maple (03:20):
So I actually started on Black Ops 2.

Scarto46 (03:24):
Oh yeah, okay cool.

Marthah Maple (03:25):
Dude, I think at that point I was still running
into walls cause I couldn'tfigure out how to maneuver.

Portabella (03:31):
We all got to start somewhere.

Marthah Maple (03:33):
Right, dude, it was bad.
I still I remember sittingthere on the floor playing my
Xbox and running into a wall andbeing like why am I getting
nowhere?

Scarto46 (03:44):
So 3000, right, like you said, you, you, you, your
favorite number is your favoritenumber three.
Yeah, okay, all right.
So 3000, it's like futuristic,it sounds cool, like so, nothing
to do with Andre, it's justlike, hey, I'm going to pick the
number Boom, 3000.
I love it, that's.
That's really big energy.

(04:04):
By the way, that kind of fitsBig energy.
Yeah, that's who?
Gangsta?

Marthah Maple (04:10):
Boo was.

Scarto46 (04:12):
Oh, okay, all right.
Can you describe what GangstaBoo was?
I think that would be awesome.
You know, Gangsta Boo, shedidn't give a f**k okay, she was
going into lobby, she wastalking, she was making friends
with everybody um couldn't backup any of her, but she sure was

(04:35):
talking it so do you think youwere better at talking than you
were like shooting bullets backin the day?

Portabella (04:42):
for sure hell yeah, dude hell yeah, for sure hell,
yeah, it just it seems crazybecause just talking to you, you
seem like such like theopposite of what you're
describing.
Was that part of the, is thatpart of the appeal of being
gangsta boo to you?
Or because it seems like it'scompletely different?

Marthah Maple (05:03):
yeah, no for sure .
Uh, gangsta boo is definitelylike a personality that I could
hide behind.
Um, in real life I'm like veryreserved, very quiet.
It kind of takes a little bitto get to know me and get me out
of my shell, um, but gangstaboo being online and just
playing games for the f**k of it, it really gave me an outlet to

(05:25):
let those parts of mypersonality shine that don't
naturally shine in real life.

Portabella (05:31):
Yeah, it's a way to kind of be not necessarily a
more truer self, but to be morean elevated version of yourself
in that way.

Marthah Maple (05:40):
Yeah, exactly, exactly.
That's a really good way ofputting it, yeah exactly,
exactly.

Scarto46 (05:43):
That's a really good way of putting it.
That's wild, bro, cause I, I, Imean you've always had like
every time.
If so, you have a hugepersonality, right?
Like I was saying earlier,we've hung out a couple of times
but I mean, yeah, you're reallygood at prop hunt, you know
what I mean.
Like that's like your top top10 in the world at prop hunt,
right, or something like that.
Top three, top three Top threeyeah, yeah, got it.

Marthah Maple (06:05):
And I do that on purpose, because I want to stay
at three.
That's my favorite number.

Scarto46 (06:10):
Looking for the bronze medal.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, make someeyes pop, so like.
So I have this problem a lotright, like there's a lot of
SCARTOs, s-c-a-r-t-o, likethat's pretty common.
Like I don't know, I thought Iwas super original and super
cool.
Apparently, like every time Itry to like create an account,

(06:35):
like that can happen wherethere's like multiple Scartos,
so like I'm now Scarto 46 andeveryone's like oh, you're lame,
cause you got numbers afteryour name.
Yeah, I mean, I've got that alot.
It's cool.
So like, have you ever had thatproblem where you're like
trying to, you know, like createor engage with someone and they
had that gangsta boo name?
Was that a problem that youexperienced?

Marthah Maple (06:53):
Not since I added the 3000.
I've never run it.
I honestly I've run into peoplethat have like gangsta
something, but I don't thinkI've ever run into a gangsta boo
, and surely not a gangsta boo3000.

Scarto46 (07:08):
I've never had that issue securing that did you ever
feel lame because of yournumbers?
Anyone make fun of you?
Absolutely not, dude.
That makes it cooler.
Yeah, that's what I said, bro.
That's what I said too, sothat's right.
Yeah, um.
So I, when we were talking um,or I think you know, before you
said there was a moment likethere's a real, there was a real
gangsta boo like on twitch.

(07:28):
Is that right?

Marthah Maple (07:30):
uh, so she was actually a rapper for three, six
mafia oh, word, word.

Scarto46 (07:35):
So you really thought about reaching out to the
gangsta, gangsta boo from three, six mafia?

Marthah Maple (07:40):
I actually did reach out to her because I was
considering taking Twitchstreaming a little more
seriously.
I wanted to kind of like makeit a brand and I started getting
hung up on the well, am I kindof violating any kind of?

Scarto46 (08:00):
Yeah, infringement, yeah exactly.

Marthah Maple (08:03):
So I found her on Instagram and I shot her a
message and I bet I could pullit up.
Okay, so I found it.
Yes, excellent, I can't waitOkay so the message I sent her
was really long, but it wasbasically just like hey, I'm a
nobody and I want to stream onTwitch.
I've been using Gangstaboo3000as my name, like is there an

(08:25):
issue with that?
Is it okay if I use that?
Do I have your permission, doyou have any thoughts on it,
type thing.
And she responded to me withinan hour, by the way, which I
thought was pretty dope.
I was like look at me, look atme, go Uh.
But she said my name is GangstaBoo, not Gangsta Boo 3000.
Those are my thoughts.
I was like very well thanks.

Scarto46 (08:50):
Wow, All right.
Well, I think like we've kindof talked through the Gangsta
Boo 3000.
So is there anything else likeyou want to add on about that
particular time in your identityRight, Like that, like where?
Your identity right Like that, like where you were, like how
you were thinking, or maybe notlike.
Maybe that likes gives you agood perspective of it, but I

(09:13):
don't know, I think.

Marthah Maple (09:16):
I think that's about the gist, like.
I mean, really in that time Iwas just kind of figuring out
who I was as a gamer, what I wasinto, kind of the circles I
wanted to run in and game in,you know.

Scarto46 (09:23):
So like that's not your name anymore, you don't go
by gangsta boo 3000 anymore.
Um, so like we're going toshift into that.

Portabella (09:34):
Yeah, it's more so because right now, obviously,
your name is Martha Maples andwe were really curious what
sparked what sparked the idea tochange your name, and not only
that, to change it to Martha, ofall things uh, so the name
change was a long time coming.

Marthah Maple (09:54):
Um, I had left my ex-husband and the name was
given to me by my ex-husband,and so it felt like kind of a
skin I needed to shed in a way.
Um, and in addition to that, having boo in my name, um
invited some unwelcome commentsand stuff from male gamers that

(10:20):
you know it's.
It's just weird to be playinglike a competitive shooter and
to be called boo every round.

Scarto46 (10:27):
I didn't like that and so it was time to like
especially when you're dunkingon them.

Marthah Maple (10:32):
That's what I'm saying.
That's embarrassing for them.
I don't know why they wouldwant to go that route.

Scarto46 (10:40):
So when did your name change?
Like what?
So you were headed towards aname change like.
You said like, but like what?
Was there like a moment likethat?
This happened like.

Marthah Maple (10:51):
Um, there was, it was um, so it was.
It took me years to finallyfind Martha and like it.
Martha was the first name inyears that felt right to me and
I didn't want to change my nameuntil it was something that like
, I liked and felt right.
Um, and so I think it was like2021, 2020, maybe, maybe 2020.

(11:25):
Um, I was playing Valorant and.
Um, I was in a lobby with somecanadian gamers and one of them
was a woman that had a twitchchannel and she linked it at the
end of the game and I was likeall right dope, so I went to
check her out, give her a view.
Um, and we got to talking inthere and it turned out that
they were also 30 something yearold gamers, which kind of a

(11:47):
hard find, kind of a rare find.
So I was like, oh, this is cool, like people my age that play
the games I like to play.
Um, they invited me into theirdiscord server and the first
couple of times I went in there,we would just like kind of play
games, shoot the shit.
Uh, and eventually I gave themmy real name and I'm not sure

(12:09):
why I did that.
It's not something that Iusually do um, but I gave them
my real name and then I thinkone of the people in the server
kind of realized that I feltweird about giving my real name.
So the next time I joined hewas like, oh yeah, you said your
name was Martha, right?
And?
And at first I was like why ishe calling me Martha?
That's not my name.
And he kept calling me Marthaand it kind of stuck.

(12:32):
And then there was this otherguy in the server oh, he's a
goofy guy, he's a really niceguy but he's not the brightest
bulb and so he changed myDiscord server profile to to
Martha, but he put an h at theend hell yeah, as soon as I saw
that, I was like that's it, I'm.

Scarto46 (12:53):
Martha, that's amazing one, that is super cool that
that dude was like oh yeah, um,your name is Martha, right, like
that.
That's, that's super cool.
Uh, but, dude, who were you?
So you said there was years inbetween, right, like, who were
you in between?

Marthah Maple (13:09):
I was still gangsta boo and hating it I
didn't want to be gangsta booanymore, yeah, but I couldn't.
I I was not creative enough tofind something on my own.
I guess that, like, really feltright.

Scarto46 (13:20):
I felt like everything that I was coming up was like
very 90s aol, yeah yeah it's,it's so hard like, um, it's like
you're trying to put a label oryou're trying to like yeah,
what is the right way to saythis?
It's like you're trying to toname something that you can't
see, but you feel or you thinkabout and it's got to like fit

(13:41):
you, and that, like that time inbetween is like real weird,
right, like you know, you're notthat thing anymore and you're
trying to make a decision andlike I think it's hard for
everybody to like, maybe notmaybe some people like, yeah,
just a random name generator, but like it's kind of like how
you represent yourself to thethe world, you know.
And so I totally get that likein between time.

(14:03):
And when you, when you saidthat Martha fit, like what was,
what was it about that?
Like it was just like it justlike made sense.
Is that what you're saying?

Marthah Maple (14:13):
I think it was the flair of the h at the end.
I was like I could representthat that's different without
being too different.
Martha is a very unassumingname and I felt like it kind of
fit the era of my life that Iwas in.
I wasn't um, like gangsta boo.
She was the life of the partyin every party that she was in,

(14:34):
you know um, yeah, yeah andMartha.
It just kind of I had gottenaway from that.
I was feeling more secure inmyself and my online identity
and I let my gaming speak foritself, you know like my skill
in the games rather than like mypersonality.
Um.

Scarto46 (14:53):
So I was like, yeah, it could be Martha, like you had
grown to a point where you'relike, yeah, I'm confident in,
like I mean no one, no one knowsthis but like you're you're
really good at competitiveshooters, you know.
So like yeah, no, you're scaryGood, but like you've gotten to
this point where you're likeyou're like ready to it's like
you right.
And I think what's cool aboutwhat you're talking about is

(15:14):
like who you were when you wereyounger, like fit that model,
but who you grew into no longermade sense Like of your
relationship, just yourpersonality.
You grew as a person and you'relike dude.
I gotta figure out how do Irepresent that to other people
Exactly.
That dude somewhere right nowis probably still misspelling

(15:40):
Martha.
You know that right.

Marthah Maple (15:42):
Dude, he's misspelling everything.
I think he has a four-lettername and, Dude, he's misspelling
everything.
I think he has a four-lettername and I think he probably
misspells that.

Scarto46 (15:50):
Fucking love that.
I love that guy.
I don't even know him, but like.

Portabella (15:54):
He's doing his best out there, that's all we can ask
for.

Marthah Maple (15:56):
He's the sweetest guy.
He means so well.

Scarto46 (15:59):
Yeah, but put him in a spelling bee and he's getting
dumpstered.
He's done.
What were y'all playing on theCanadian server, valorant?

Marthah Maple (16:10):
Valorant and CSGO .

Scarto46 (16:13):
Oh my God See, I don't , bro.
I don't understand.
Okay, like separate note.
I don't understand why peoplelove Counter-Strike or Valorant.
It's round-based and you get, okay for me, all right.
Younger version of me would geton Counter-Strike because that
was a thing back in the day andI was like, yeah, man, I'm going
to play Counter-Strike.

(16:33):
And then I'd buy all the stuff,I'd walk one foot out the door
and just get ripped like deadright, and I don't like that
experience for me.
Maybe that was like, maybe it'sjust trauma, like childhood
trauma, right, but my experiencewith like Counter-Strike has
always been like, not that I'mgetting better, it's just that I
am a piñata, that's probablythe best way to describe it.

Portabella (16:57):
You know, maybe shooters just aren't for you.
Maybe that's the problem.

Scarto46 (16:59):
I played shooters my entire life, just the shooters
that required me to get shotmore than once.
And in those games, like youget shot, you're done.
What is it that?

Marthah Maple (17:10):
you love about those games that I just don't
get.
You know it's it's tough toplay them when you're getting on
, but when you're doing the oneshitting, when you're doing the
one shitting, when you're theone doing this, yeah, oh yeah,
it's the best whenever you'rearound it's, this is back to
your, this is back to your, yourbig energy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, bro, absolutely absolutely, and like

(17:35):
it's funny too because, like youknow, especially with
counter-strike, there's lobbiesthat a woman just cannot talk in
what do do you?

Scarto46 (17:43):
so this is this is like me asking a question.
Like when you say, like thereare like lobbies that a woman
cannot talk in, like what do youmean by that?
Like cause it's just likeyou're everyone's, like oh, it's
a girl.
First time I saw a girl likethat kind of thing.

Marthah Maple (17:57):
I mean, if it's just a oh, it's a girl, it's a
girl that's I, a girl that's I,can handle that.
It's when they start shittingon you for being a girl, um,
harassing you, cussing you out, throwing the game team killing,
all that kind of stuff.
That happens a lot yeah, Idon't.

Scarto46 (18:16):
I don't understand that.
Um, mostly because male, female, whatever, dude like
everybody's playing, having fun,man, like don't be a, it's all
there is.
Like it's just don't be a dick.
Also, if you're really worriedabout like your orientation,
like there's probably otherthings to worry about.
You know like what?

(18:37):
Why not worry about likemeteors hitting the earth?
Why not like worry about likerecycling?
You know what I mean.
Like just worry about somethingelse.
It's so dumb.

Portabella (18:45):
Isn't that one of those things where they, from my
experience, it's almost likethey're just not confident
enough in themselves.
So the idea that someone elsewho is not the same gender as
them, or regardless of whatevergender they are, and they get so
intimidated by that fact thatthey have to project it towards
the air quotes weakest player orwho looks the weakest?

Scarto46 (19:10):
their insecurities become your problem bro, I
learned so much about what Ithink good dudes look like from
being afraid of my mother andraising a daughter or being part
of her life.
Like, like, that's it.
Like seeing the world like iscreated for women through her
eyes.
I'm like, well, I just need tolike crush everyone that is an

(19:31):
asshole Right.
Or like create safe spaceswhere people can like do shit.
Like she her existence drives80% of the way that I engage
with the planet.
All right, so let's talk aboutMartha Maple.

Marthah Maple (19:48):
Let's talk about her, okay.

Scarto46 (19:51):
So who are you today, right, like in the lens of this
name, like as Martha with asilent H or you know whatever?
Who are you today Like, wow,can you describe what, what,
what it looks like, what itfeels like, like color shapes,
energy, like?
Who is martha maple?
Uh?

Marthah Maple (20:15):
I mean colors.
It's got to be pink, um, but II guess, like martha, is just
somebody that wants to spreadkindness.

Scarto46 (20:27):
She's chill, laid back , shapes and energy I don't know
like, if you thought about itright, like even just like
inspirations, like what, like?

Portabella (20:38):
what worlds do you see martha in, if that makes
sense yeah, yeah, exactlymartha's in outer space, for
sure outer space.

Scarto46 (20:49):
Okay, like like on mars no, she's just floating out
there.

Marthah Maple (20:54):
She's in the milky way with all the pretty
colors swirling around her andstars and planets in the
distance uh-huh.

Scarto46 (21:01):
But she's like, is she like, uh, she's like dressed in
like, uh, armor, or she's justlike drifting man, she's just
chilling just chilling.

Marthah Maple (21:12):
She's just laid back, taking it all in okay
she's like.

Scarto46 (21:15):
That actually makes martha super terrifying because,
like she's not outwardlyaggressive, right, she's like
scared I'm at peace yeah, you'reat peace, bro.
You're making decisions.
You're like, yeah, whatever,it's fine that's cool that's
freaking awesome, okay, um, soshe's drifting through space and
she's uh, there's a lot of pinkand you're in the stars of the

(21:37):
milky way.
Um, does she have like a?
She have like a weapon on oranything?
Nah, she's just like jeanshorts and a t-shirt like YOLO
420?

Marthah Maple (21:52):
You know, okay, martha would be wearing
something like.
See, it doesn't make sense, forspace, though, is the problem.

Scarto46 (22:05):
Doesn't matter.

Marthah Maple (22:05):
If it makes sense , bro, it's all about leaning
towards like a lord of the rings, elven vibe.
She's got like a bow and arrowand a really cool cape and hood
do you love lord of the rings?

Scarto46 (22:17):
I love lord of the rings.
Let's go.
I have this debate all the timeand everyone's like, oh no, I
love Star Wars and I'm like Idon't even want to talk to you
anymore.
No, what?
Yeah, lamos, right, like, comeon, lord of the Rings is where
it's at.

Marthah Maple (22:30):
Here's the thing Star Wars is good.
Don't get me wrong, I was StarWars, whereas Lord of the Rings
I have to watch that at minimum.
Marathon it twice a year Atminimum.

Scarto46 (22:51):
So this is going to determine the fate of our future
friendship.
Okay, so this is a simplequestion that I need you to
answer.
The simple question is whichLord of the Rings is the Lord of
the Rings?

Marthah Maple (22:58):
That is true, yes , they're also good in their
different ways, but think it'sgot to be, uh, the two towers,
because the battles in it.

Scarto46 (23:09):
Let's go that.
That is the best.
So every time like I'm notfeeling good or I'm like I want
to chill or whatever that I put,I literally put that movie on
and I play it all the way and Iwatch it and the girls are like
this psychopath sat downstairsfor three hours watching the
stupid movie and I have watchedit a thousand times, but two
hours because it's so muchprogression from like yeah, man,

(23:29):
we were just hanging out andlike Frodo found this ring, to
like bro, we're doing Helms Deepover here and like that movie
is fire.

Marthah Maple (23:38):
Yeah, I know that movie is so good.
I cannot relate to justwatching one out of sequence,
randomly, though I have to watchthem.
If I'm watching one, I'mwatching them all.

Scarto46 (23:48):
When you think about the original Lord of the Rings,
what's the first thing thatcomes to your mind?
First word Legolas.
Okay, well, that wasn't mine.
Wow, I don't know what you Wow.
I mean you asked I don't knowwhat you expected.

(24:08):
I thought we were vibing, butnow I understand.
So mine is Mountain Dew.
Okay, do you remember thosecommercials back in the day
where it's like, yeah, man, likeFrodo's over here with like
Aerosmith's daughter, and thenall of a sudden it's like
Mountain Dew.
It's like wow, I don't know howthese things relate like yeah,
there was a Mountain Dewcommercial with like Frodo
getting like Liv Tyler is liketaking.

(24:32):
Frodo across the river right, isit Liv Tyler?
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then it's like Red MountainDew is out now, code red, and
I'm like what the fuck are youtalking about?
That's funny.

Marthah Maple (24:41):
I lived overseas when it came out, so I wouldn't
have seen that commercial, butthat sounds fucking hilarious.

Scarto46 (24:47):
I'm gonna have to look that up on youtube like the
most american thing ever, whereit's like, yeah, don't worry,
we're gonna.
We're gonna save the, we'regonna save the ring.
But, by the way, do you want tobuy some mountain dew, like
what?

Marthah Maple (24:58):
everybody's like of course I do, I think mine's
definitely gonna be be probablythe Shire.

Portabella (25:05):
That's the first thing that came to my brain.

Marthah Maple (25:07):
Oh man, I want to live in a hobbit.
I actually just recently got atattoo on my arm of a hobbit
hole.

Scarto46 (25:13):
That's freaking awesome.
Can I tell you another storyright now?
So, portabella, we used to playMinecraft together.

Portabella (25:20):
I don't know if we used to pool, oh yeah, actually.
No, it continued, we definitelydid and I'll tell you how this
happened.

Scarto46 (25:26):
I learned a brutal lesson.
I built a hobbit hole, mostlybecause I didn't know how to
build crazy stuff, so I dug ahole in the ground.
I dug a hole in the ground, Iput a goat in there.
I did all kinds of stuff.
There was like a water fountain.
I thought it was cool.
She moved in with me for likeprobably two hours and then she
started like trying to make thehobbit hole perfect and I'm like

(25:49):
no dude, it doesn't have, it'sjust, it's just a hole.

Portabella (25:52):
You know, like you, don't have just a dirt hole.
You had to add some like floors, and it was homie no, dude, you
didn't have to be homie helloit was homie-ish, like me and my
goat were fine until she movedin.

Scarto46 (26:04):
Yeah, totally.
She moved in and then here'shere's the crazier part of this
story she goes out.
I think I've heard enough.
She moves out.
Right, this is, this is a.
It was a.
It was like a precursor tounderstanding how life would go.
She moves out, she builds herown house.
Her house is gorgeous.
She's like oh look, I evenbuilt a roller coaster in my
house and i'm'm like I did notdo that.
No, I'm still planting freakingseeds for my hobbit hole.

(26:26):
And then we had a graveyardwhere our first horse was and
his name was Glue.
That she named Fuck what she'spsychopath.

Portabella (26:33):
That is not no.
No, that did not happen.

Scarto46 (26:36):
It kind of happened like that.
Who do you believe?

Marthah Maple (26:39):
I believe Portabella.

Scarto46 (26:42):
Well, you also know that you're siding with evil.

Portabella (26:53):
So earlier when we were talking, you were kind of
describing your gangstaboo namealmost like an era of your life,
and it's interesting to saythat you kind of view them as
what seems, seems like almostlike time stamps.
Um, what does Martha, in termsof like an era of your life
capture, like where you areright now?

Marthah Maple (27:12):
um, so when you think of Martha, you don't
really think of somebody likeyoung and hip, right.
Uh, I'm in my.
I'm in my 30s era man.
I'm in my 30s era man.
I still game, obviously, butI'm also teaching myself how to
crochet, I'm doing puzzles andreading books more and I feel
like Martha just kind of fitsthat better.

(27:33):
It fits the more relaxed era ofmy life that I'm in, where I'm
not trying so hard, I'm justenjoying the now, whereas
Gangsta Boo is very much tryinghard.

Scarto46 (27:51):
You're telling me that you crochet and play Valorant.
You're so multi-talented.
That's insane.

Marthah Maple (27:58):
Dude, and they're so different right.

Scarto46 (28:02):
So like what do you crochet?

Marthah Maple (28:06):
So right now I've just been doing a lot of like
stuffies um, oh, yeah, okay yeah, um, but I wanted to uh blanket
here soon.
I found a really cool patternall right.

Scarto46 (28:19):
So, um, how has your relationship with, like, your
identity changed since youbecame Martha?
Like, you talked a lot aboutyou know, like the shit.
By the way, I want to go backon that.
Like you said, 30 year old, I'mon the 30s gamers they have.
30s gamers are cool.
Okay, like we're the onlypeople who've seen it all,
anyway.

(28:39):
So, yeah, 30s gamers are cool.
That's a that's a thing that weshould leave in.
30s gamers are cool.
That's a thing that we shouldleave in.
30s gamers are the best.
Come get some.
Yeah, for real, how has yourrelationship with identity
changed since becoming Martha?
Like, what's that evolutionbeen like for you?
Maybe like in person, or likeonline, or what's happened with
that?

Marthah Maple (29:12):
um, so when I first started changing
everything to Martha, I didn'tat first.
It was just uh, I'm justchanging my name, I'm not
changing anything about myself.
Um, and I went into a twitchchat that I had been in prior
and the streamer record stall mycomment.
Something that I commented andwas like oh uh, I've never seen
your name before, but, um, it'snot saying that you're a first

(29:33):
time chatter.
And I was like oh no, no, no, Ilike I've been here for a while
, it's gangsta boo.
And he was like oh shit, okaycool, you like had a rebrand.
And someone in this chat waslike oh wow, like the rebrand to
from gangsta boo to Martha islike a total one 80.
And I had to take like a stepback, a step back and be like,
oh it actually is like I never, like they have very, very

(29:56):
different implications and whenI started looking into that I
just kind of realized that, likeI am in my low key era, what do
you mean?

Scarto46 (30:07):
implications?
So like, when you sayimplications, what do you mean
by that?

Marthah Maple (30:11):
I mean OK.
So when I was getting through3000.
People see the name and theymake an assumption of what
Gangsta Boo 3000 is going totalk like or what they're going
to sound like.

Scarto46 (30:21):
Yeah.

Marthah Maple (30:23):
So when I would speak, people would always be
caught off guard.
They'd be like oh, what do youmean?
Your name is gangsta 3000.
Like what the hell is this you?
Know, I played into that a lot,but you don't expect to hear
like this shrill voice and likebubbly personality coming from

(30:45):
gangsta boo 3000, but you wouldbe more inclined to believe it
to come from martha yeah, I getyou.

Scarto46 (30:51):
I understand what you mean by that.
That's cool.
So like they recognize that youhave like the same avatar or
whatever when you were in theirchat.
So what happened?

Marthah Maple (31:00):
I think I changed it.
I think I just I changed likemy picture, I changed my name, I
changed like all my socials ohword.

Scarto46 (31:07):
So they were like you're totally new here and they
were just like yeah, let melike.
Yeah, yeah, that's cool, that'ssuper cool rebrand.
I like that.
I like that.
Someone said it was a rebrand Iknow me too.

Marthah Maple (31:18):
I like that too.

Portabella (31:19):
I was like oh shit, I did rebrand myself, huh so
what like so, in terms of arebrand, you seem like you're so
comfortable in yourself now, atthis point in your life.
Do you think you'd have anyadvice that Martha would have
any advice to give to GangstaBoo now?

Marthah Maple (31:42):
Yeah, I would tell her to calm down.
Don't try so hard, just chilland, like the people that are
meant to be in your life longterm, will be in your life long
term.
You don't have to try and be apersona in order to make that
happen, just relax.

Scarto46 (32:03):
I freaking love that dude yeah gangsta was high
strung man she was intense, Imean she was a lot I think, um,
I think that's really goodadvice, which is like I think
it's so cool that you could likelook back at the different

(32:24):
sides of yourself and be likeman.
I just needed to chill out, yeah, but like when you're when
you were starting out, whenyou're young, you're like you
know you're taught when you'reyoung, like you gotta go.
When you're young, you're likeyou know you're taught when
you're young like you gotta goget it and like hustle and push
and you know and you know.
But I love that.

Marthah Maple (32:40):
You're like dude, just chill out, it'll all work
out you know, I think that, um,I don't know, maybe I'll change
my uh gamer tag when I hit my40s and I'm entering into a new
era, because I really think thatGangsta Boo was very 20s and
Martha Maple is very 30s.
I might return to her in my 60s.

(33:02):
I feel that Hell yeah, but whoknows what's in store for my 40s
.

Scarto46 (33:08):
What would you say to someone who's like, who's like
in an identity today and like, feel stuck and like you know I
mean that happens.
Right, like where we're, we'vebeen a thing for a while and
that creates expectations aboutlike who we have to be in social
circles or or whatever.
Right, like.
But what would you say tosomeone who's like stuck in a
name that doesn't fit anymore?

Marthah Maple (33:33):
I'd probably just tell them that it can be scary,
but to just start the processof letting go.
It's okay to like grow out ofthings.
It's okay to grow out of friendcircles or games or whatever it
is.
It's not something that youhave to rush.
Let it happen the way that ithappens, but don't put too much

(33:56):
pressure on yourself that isgreat advice.

Scarto46 (34:02):
I love it.
We've kind of talked aroundthis a little bit.
Um, we talked about a littlebit earlier, but what is the
competitive gaming scene likefor you?

Marthah Maple (34:15):
uh, you know I love my competitive games, but I
really go into them.
I'm just trying to have fun andI'm just trying to get better,
like as a shooter.
Um, I'm trying to work on mygame sense and stuff.
So I really I don't take it tooseriously, but I am trying to
win Um.

(34:39):
So when you get a good team, you get a good team and you guys
vibe well and you play better,um, uh, being a woman, it can.
It's a.
It's a bit of a 50, 50 onwhether or not you're going to
have a good chill team whereeverybody acts normal though Um,
and then, especially as a woman, once they know that you're a
woman and you're having a badgame, that's it like.

Scarto46 (34:58):
You might as well mute all comms, turn off your
headset and just zone out forthe rest of the game yeah, I
mean because because in that, inthat world, like it's all about
comms, like you you're notwinning and you have to win
through comms, so like if you'remaking calls or whatever, or

(35:20):
you're engaging, and like you'realways having to put yourself
out there, I guess is the pointI'm making, like that you are a
female, that you are likeplaying the game that can create
a lot of different scenariosfor you yeah, for sure.

Marthah Maple (35:30):
I have to be very hyper aware in every lobby that
I get into and kind of wait fora couple of other people to
stay, staff to kind of get theirvibe and know if it, if it's
going to go south if I speak ornot yeah, and for clarification,
just so I can kind of clarifywhat types of like competitive

(35:53):
games.

Portabella (35:53):
Games are your bread and butter, what type of
competitive games do you love toplay and stuff, or good at at
that too.

Marthah Maple (36:04):
Valorant and CS and I've been getting into it.
I don't know if you cannecessarily consider it a
competitive game or acompetitive shooter, but I
really enjoy the finals.
Me and my little brother havebeen playing that a lot recently
and it's a lot of fun.
We kind of shred.

Scarto46 (36:19):
That's dope dude.
The finals are at the end.
You get the bag.
Yeah, you're competing forteams of four.
Is it duos or is it teams offour?

Marthah Maple (36:31):
Teams of three.
It's four teams of three goingagainst each other.

Scarto46 (36:37):
That's legit.

Marthah Maple (36:38):
It's a good time, it's um, it's kind of similar
into as um call of duty, um, inthat you can kind of run around
and do a little bit of likespray and pray.
In that you can kind of runaround and do a little bit of
like spray and pray, but it doesstill have like some strategy
involved in it if you reallywant to like go through the

(36:59):
tournament so.

Scarto46 (37:01):
So, like in the in the game, do you feel like you're
because you know there'sdifferent roles when you're
playing comp, like, are you likea flanker?
Because you have the attitudeof a flanker?
So I'm trying to figure out.
It's like is that your vibe?
Um in valorant.

Marthah Maple (37:13):
I'm a flanker in the finals.
I really do have that big dickenergy and it's in valorant.
It's called the duelist.
It's the person that makes thefirst contact, gets in there,
gets information and tries to atleast get a pick two if they're
lucky that's badass, yeah, yeahwhich one you?

(37:34):
can get one to two, you can openup the round for your team to
win pretty easily because you'llhave a numbers advantage even
if you get picked off you loveplaying the meta right, like
you're always like, because if Ican play the numbers game, I
take two what's uh you're?

Scarto46 (37:48):
they're down to your rest of your teams up, like
that's your whole game with thatin theory.
In theory, people throw a lotunintentionally just so we're
clear, I might be one of thoseplayers.
Yeah, you know what, like uh,I'm guilty of it too.
Well, I am such a feeder, like.
So I always thought that termlike back in, like I was playing

(38:09):
, lol, like a long time ago, andlike they were like I.
I was like man, I'm going to bea jungler bro, and they were
like because you know, theInternet is the Internet, I was
going to, I was going to gojungle, and then all I would do
is I'd pop out in a lane andjust get dumpstered.
All right, we're going to take aquick break and we'll come
right back with Reroll, allright, so we're going to start

(38:38):
our reroll segment and on reroll, what we do is we've we've
listened to your story and so wehave, we've taken notes as
we've kind of gone through yourstory and there are key
personality traits, uh,preferred roles that you might
take, or game gameplay rolesthat you might take, favorite
genres and worlds, a signaturestyle or vibe about you, and

(38:59):
then visual inspiration, and sowe're going to take all of those
and feed them into a bot andthen create a picture of you,
and so you get two re-rolls.
That's the game we're playing.
You have two re-rolls after thefirst roll and you can choose
to change anything you wantabout the picture that's created
of you.
But after your second re-rollyou'll get a title, a card, and

(39:23):
then we'll take that and ourdesigner will turn that into an
official gamer tag, trading card.

Marthah Maple (39:28):
Awesome, cool, yeah.
Question about the re-rolls Isit a full re-roll or is it like
I can change an aspect?

Scarto46 (39:37):
so you can change whatever you want.
You could change it, you could.
Well, I should say thisdifferently.
So we have a set of things thatwe're going to feed the bot, um
, but you could changeaesthetically whatever you want
to change, does that?

Marthah Maple (39:51):
make sense.
Yeah.

Scarto46 (39:55):
Cool, I'm going to share my screen and then
Portabella is going to walkthrough what we have learned
about you throughout thisinterview.

Marthah Maple (40:05):
That'll be interesting.

Portabella (40:07):
So I've been, as we've been talking, I've been
writing a little bit down, basically based on vibes, things
you have told us about yourstyle and stuff like that.
None of them bad, obviously.
They're all good things in myopinion.
Let's start with personalitytraits.
So immediately you seem likethe most bubbly, energetic

(40:27):
person ever and you talk laterabout how you really try to
spread kindness everywhere yougo, and even games and people
are not as kind to you, and sothat was another big one.
And then just you have thisover like almost like a 180 flip
.
You have this edginess aboutyou that is I don't know how

(40:48):
else to explain besides like it.
It's just a Like.
I wrote later on that you havelike this badass energy.
It's where it comes from.
So that's personality traits.
Preferred roles in gameplayYou're kind of like a
jack-of-all-trades.
You're a shooter, youinfiltrate, you're flanking,
you're a team player, sometimesMVP, depending on how well

(41:11):
you're doing for your team.
That's a way I am.
So overall I put chameleonbecause it seems like when we
were talking, you kind of shiftinto the different roles that
you're needed in.
So that was the best way Icould combine all of those In
terms of your favorite genres, slash worlds in games or

(41:32):
anything like that.
Uh, we have call of duty, prophunt, valorant, counter-strike
and lord the rings, whole thingsyou kind of mentioned
throughout while we were talkingin terms of signature style or
vibe.
Pink is definitely the the main, the main thing, and some blue,
but mainly pink.
Um, you said your favoritenumber was three.

(41:53):
We'll see if it incorporatesany of that.
This is where I wrote downbadass energy because you'd have
to have it.
And then the overall like nameis just kind of what you're
saying when you're late.
You're a very laid-back person,almost like effort,
effortlessly cool, in that wayof just like I'm just gonna let
the cards fall and see whathappens.

(42:14):
And then, lastly, visualinspiration.
You kind of envision like thischaracter of Martha being in
space, in this Milky Way,ethereal looking, floating
aspect and being more of likeleaning towards elven styles
from lord of the rings, but justin general.

(42:36):
So that's kind of all thethings uh, me and scarto kind of
picked up throughout thisinterview with you hell yeah,
y'all flatter me too much badassenergy hell yeah, I'm writing
that on my.

Marthah Maple (42:51):
I'm getting a tattoo yeah, all right.

Scarto46 (42:55):
So we're going to now roll the first re-roll and we'll
get a picture and see what itlooks like.
Are you ready?

Marthah Maple (43:01):
all right, let's do it.
I think it's so funny that youput one of my key personality
traits is edginess, because Ihave an inside joke with a
friend from like a decade agowhere I got like a faux leather
jacket at one point and he waslike oh, that's kind of nice.
I was like, yeah, I'm edgy.
So now every time we talk he'slike oh no, I forgot, I'm sorry

(43:22):
you're edgy yeah, look at thisbig, bright background you have.

Scarto46 (43:29):
You have the stars behind you, you have the Milky
Way galaxy.
You have a bow in your hand, like you talked about, although
there's nothing fletching thatarrow.
Um, so this is like the firstroll.
Um, she's got blue hair, somaybe we can change that.
You change anything you wantabout this, um, but you get two

(43:49):
re-s.

Marthah Maple (43:51):
Okay, okay, I'd like to take away the armor and
add a cloak, and I want pinkhair.

Scarto46 (44:01):
Okay, I added take away the armor and add a cloak
and please make her have pinkhair, is there?

Marthah Maple (44:09):
anything else you want to add to this picture?

Scarto46 (44:11):
No, I think that's it.
All right, let's see whathappens on your next re-roll.
Oh, you have a cloak now.
I kept the three.

Portabella (44:21):
This is super cute.
So for our listeners, right nowwe have a humanoid, elf-looking
character with bright pink hair, purple cloak, pink tunic with
a three on it and just a bonearrow in space.
That's where we're at right now.

Marthah Maple (44:36):
That actually looks so cool.
The only thing I wish lookedbetter was the bow and arrow.
I'm in the middle of it and Ionly have half of an arrow.

Scarto46 (44:47):
Yeah, that's true.
You have the arrow in the it'salready fleshed and you're in
the middle of the bow.
You have the arrow in the it'salready fleshed and you're in
the middle of the bow.
So we, could you know a way todo this?
Might be like I want her to bedrawing the arrow and like
shooting it at a target, ormaybe not.
Maybe that's bad advice, butyou get one more reroll and then

(45:07):
that will be final.
So, however you want to wordthis, can word it.

Marthah Maple (45:15):
I actually like that.
I think it would be cool if itlooked like I was about to shoot
the arrow at the camera.
I also love how her smile is sobig again it's like this, wide,
like cheshire grin on your faceso what do you think about that
prompt?

Scarto46 (45:32):
So the prompt I wrote was can you make this look like
she is aiming the bow andpulling it back like an archer
at the camera?

Marthah Maple (45:40):
I think it's good , mm-hmm.

Scarto46 (45:43):
Is there anything else you want to change
Aesthetically?
You could say, hey, I want tohave like magic going on around
me or whatever.

Marthah Maple (45:52):
Oh no, I was was gonna say I want like a forest
tree, like a pine or somethingbehind me or like near me, next
to me.

Scarto46 (45:59):
but that's weird because I'm in space well, maybe
, maybe there is a tree on thisplanet where there you go.

Marthah Maple (46:08):
That's true.
That's true.
Put me in grass with with likea nice pretty tree behind or
near.

Scarto46 (46:16):
I'm going to work on this prompt, so, um, can you
tell me, tell me exactly whatyou'd like me to put in here?

Marthah Maple (46:22):
Add grass instead of a dirt road and um some kind
of greenery.

Scarto46 (46:30):
What about the bow?
Do you want to?
You want to keep the bow, theblue color, like that?
Yeah.

Marthah Maple (46:34):
I like the blow.
The bow looks really cool Allright, cool.

Scarto46 (46:39):
So, uh, what I added was um, add grass instead of the
dirt and please put trees intothe shot.
Also, make the three a ledthree.
This is your final re-roll, sois there anything else you?

Marthah Maple (46:54):
want to change about it.
No, just to remind it to keepthe pink hair.

Scarto46 (46:58):
Alright, we're going to keep the pink hair, so please
keep the pink hair.
Are you ready to re-roll?

Marthah Maple (47:04):
Yup.

Scarto46 (47:05):
Usually, whenever I like talk about LEDs, it's like
a real bright color and then itlike starts to pop.
Oh, it's so cool.
Oh, this looks freaking dope.

Portabella (47:16):
The trees are peeking out.
Yeah, all right.
