Hello, I’m Glen McGill, and thanks for taking a bit of time to read my story. These days, when I’m not working on roofs or clearing gutters, I spend a lot of my spare time learning about Buzzsprout. It’s a really easy-to-use platform that helps people start and share their own podcasts. My main job is working with Glasgow Gutters, a local business that helps homeowners and businesses across Glasgow with gutter cleaning, repairs, and installations. It’s hands-on work, often outdoors, and every job is different. But even though podcasting and gutter work might sound like complete opposites, they both require careful thought, clear communication, and a bit of problem-solving. Whether I’m fixing a leaking gutter or recording a short podcast episode, I try to always do my best and keep learning. I first found out about Buzzsprout when I started thinking about creating a simple podcast—just a place to share stories, advice, and maybe even talk a bit about home maintenance or small business life. I didn’t have any background in audio or editing, and it all felt a bit confusing at first. But Buzzsprout made it really simple to get started. I didn’t need fancy equipment or complicated software. I enjoy thinking of episode ideas, writing short scripts, and sharing helpful tips—sometimes about gutter care, sometimes about running a small local business, and sometimes just general life lessons from working outside in all weather. What I really like about Buzzsprout is how beginner-friendly it is. You don’t need to be an expert or have a team of people to make a podcast. The dashboard is clean and easy to understand, and it gives you helpful tools like episode stats, easy audio editing, and even suggestions on how to improve your podcast quality. For someone like me, who’s learning by doing, it’s the perfect place to start. I’ve made a few short podcast episodes now—nothing fancy, but each one is better than the last. I talk about common gutter problems, how to spot issues early, and even share some funny stories from the job. Sometimes I talk about work-life balance and how it feels to run a small business. The best part is that people have started listening and even messaging me to say thanks. That feels really rewarding. A lot of people might think it’s odd that someone in gutter services would be interested in podcasting—but to me, it makes perfect sense. Every day I’m talking to customers, explaining problems, and offering advice. Podcasting is just another way to share that same knowledge, but with a wider audience.
