The hardest part of senior care often isn’t the daily tasks—it’s knowing what to do, when to do it, and who to trust. We sit down with Jackie Jou Kim from Arosa Senior Services OC to unpack a smarter approach: integrating professional care management with personalized home care so families get a plan, not just a worker on a schedule.

Jackie walks us through the first step—a free, in-home assessment that maps needs, risks, and preferences—and explains how a care manager coordinates the entire journey. From short-term help after a hospital stay to long-term support for Parkinson’s and dementia, we explore how medication reminders, safe mobility, meal prep, and companionship fit into a bigger strategy that adapts as conditions change. You’ll hear why “I’m not ready yet” is a common myth, how early planning prevents crisis decisions, and what reliable caregiver oversight looks like when handled by a dedicated manager.

We also dig into the power of local partnerships and referrals, from chambers of commerce to elder law attorneys and placement agencies, ensuring families find trusted resources without guesswork. Jackie shares practical tips for selecting the right support, aligning services with doctor guidance, and keeping seniors connected to community so independence lasts longer.

If you’re in Orange County, there’s a special perk: mention Good Neighbor Podcast to receive a free assessment plus four hours of home care (valued at $160), a stress-free way to test the fit and see measurable benefits at home.  Give us a call at 949-794-9470 to book your free assessment today.

SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place
where local businesses andneighbors come together.
Here's your host, Rachel Fife.

SPEAKER_02 (00:13):
Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast.
Now, if you are looking for apremier provider of integrated
care management and home careservices for seniors, well, this
resource is closer than youthink.
Today I have the pleasure ofintroducing your good neighbor,
Jackie Joe Kim with Arosa SeniorServices OC.

(00:37):
Jackie, how is it going?
Things are going so well.
Thank you, Rachel, for having meon your podcast.
Well, we are really, reallyexcited to learn about your
business.
So tell us about Arosa SeniorServices.

SPEAKER_01 (00:49):
Of course.
So Arosa, we're a premierprovider of care management
services and home care.
All throughout we cover all ofOrange County.
We have offices throughout thecountry.
At Arosa, we do this integratedmodel where our care management
is combined with our home care, which means that every time we
send caregivers out to seniors'homes, there's a care manager

(01:11):
overseeing that work.
So that assures that if there isany sort of situation with a
caregiver that's not workingout, our care manager is there
to help sort out the problems orto potentially find you a new
caregiver if need be.
And all of that starts with afree assessment, which is always
provided to any of our customerswho call to call our phone line.

(01:33):
And we go in to do the free thefree assessments to see just
what your mom and dad oryourself might need in a
caregiver.
So that could be anything frompost-hospitalization when you
need somebody to help preparemeals for you, to make sure that
you stay on track for yourmedications, or for somebody for

(01:54):
more long-term care.
Like a lot of our clients haveParkinson's or have dementia, or
you know, may just be a littlebit frailer as they're getting
older and just need somebody tohelp take them out on errands or
driving.
It could run a whole gamut ofwhat you might need as you get
older.
But whatever that issue mightbe, um, if you call a ROSA and

(02:15):
go over what your needs are, weare able to help you find that
care for that peace of mind foryourself or your family members.
Oh, wonderful.
Well, how did you get into thisbusiness, Jackie?
I um have been at a ROSA forabout two and a half years, but
prior to that, you know, I wasworking in events.
So, Rachel, like when you toldme that this was going to be on

(02:39):
StreamYard, I was very, veryfamiliar with this platform
because I've worked with a lotof different, you know, podcasts
or interviews and um in thismedium.

SPEAKER_02 (02:49):
Wonderful.
So now what do you think aresome myths or misconceptions in
your industry?

SPEAKER_01 (02:56):
I think what I hear a few different things from the
client's perspective, theyalways tell me that they're not
ready for the care.
And oh, you know, I'm you knowquite independent on my own.
I don't need a caregiver athome.
And what we try to stress tothem that it is not just right
now, it's also a bit of futureplanning.

(03:16):
And I that's where the caremanagement piece will come in.
So maybe you don't need acaregiver there to help you, but
the care manager, uh, it's aservice on top of the home care.
It's it is a different service.
So I don't want to confusepeople when you hear about the
care management.
Um the home care is one thing, but for the care manager, we
have a care manager go into yourhome, and that care manager, if

(03:37):
you were to choose this service, can help you with pre-planning,
um, to find resources as you'regetting older, or to you know,
make sure that you areexercising, you're going to um
socialize social events to findother seniors, to uh make sure
that you're going to all yourdoctor appointments.
So that care management piece isreally important, and I think

(03:58):
that anyone can be using thatfrom you know, if you if you're
not ready for a caregiver to uhwhen you are deep it need deeply
into your care and you needsomeone to oversee all of your
uh you know, all of youractivities.

SPEAKER_02 (04:12):
Wonderful.
Now we know marketing is reallythe heart of every business.
So how are you finding yourpatients and and the people you
take care of?

SPEAKER_01 (04:21):
Yeah, well, places like the Good Neighbors Podcast
helps out a lot.
So I just want to say that thankyou, Rachel, so much for um
talking to me today.
But I also want to say to yourviewers that if you're
interested in learning moreabout our ROSA, please give us a
call.
The number is 949-794-9470.
And if you mention a goodneighbors podcast, we can offer
you the free assessment, ofcourse, but also a free four

(04:43):
hours of home care um and to seeif uh that's the right fit for
you in in your life right now.

SPEAKER_02 (04:50):
So have you go ahead.
Now, now do you want to just saysomething else?

SPEAKER_01 (04:55):
Yeah, and like you're right, the marketing
piece is difficult in ourindustry.
But um what I do is I go toplaces like the Irvine Chamber
and I talk to other membersabout what kind of work I do,
what kind of work they do, andthe referral um referral process
is one of the strongest waysthat we do find care uh clients.
So I would refer to um, youknow, insurance companies, um,

(05:19):
elder law attorneys, or um, youknow, placement agents.
The senior world has so manydifferent people who are eager
and very experienced in thiswork.
And being able to be a goodreferral partner is one of the
best ways to find clients thatneed our care.

SPEAKER_02 (05:34):
Wonderful.
Now, have you ever thought aboutdoing your own podcast by any
chance?

SPEAKER_01 (05:38):
Not yet.
Um, it's one more piece of thepuzzle that haven't been able to
fit into my schedule, but I'mhappy to do whatever podcasts
that come across and comeacross.

SPEAKER_02 (05:49):
I love it.
I love it.
Now, outside of work, Jackie, what what do you like to do for
fun?

SPEAKER_01 (05:54):
Well, um, so my fun was just be my family.
I have three boys of my own, sofamily is really important to
me.
So when I'm not at work doing mymarketing, um taking care of my
clients, uh I'm taking my boysout to baseball practice or
school events.
Um my kids uh go to school at uhMerriam Burgesson Elementary,

(06:17):
which is in Laguna Nigel.
It's a man in immersion program,so that's a little plug for that
too.
We're really proud that we havethis program available to us and
it's an incredible place to sendyour kids.
Uh, they are able to learnMandarin, uh, Chinese and
English side by side as they areuh are they as they are in an
elementary school, and we'vereally loved um being there for
you know the past the past fewyears.

SPEAKER_02 (06:39):
Wonderful.
Well, Jackie, please tell ourlisteners one thing they should
remember about Erosa SeniorServices OC.

SPEAKER_01 (06:47):

all, and it's a really difficultprocess for you to navigate on
your own.
So if you need um a experiencedguide uh for you as you're
getting older, just call us upand to have a conversation and
we could direct you in the rightdirect direct direct you in the
right place.

SPEAKER_02 (07:07):

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
