Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Good
Neighbor Podcast, the place
where local businesses andneighbors come together.
Here's your host, Denise Taylor.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Welcome to Good
Neighbor Podcast, virginia Beach
.
Today I am here with Bree andJim Mueller with Gameday Men's
Health here in Virginia BeachWelcome guys.
Hey Denise.
Hey, how are you?
I'm good.
Health here in Virginia BeachWelcome guys, hey Denise.
Hey, how are you?
I'm good.
Bree, do you want to share a?
Speaker 3 (00:33):
little bit about how
this idea came about in bringing
this to Virginia Beach.
Of course, yeah, jim hadrecently retired from a previous
industry and wasn't reallyready to fully retire, and we
wanted to do something togetherand something that we could pass
on to our kids down the line.
And so we were looking into alot of different things and
decided also that we wanted toget into a business where we
(00:54):
could kind of give back to thecommunity, not just something
that would sustain us as afamily, but also something that
we could better others' lives.
And we came across the game daymodel and got really excited
about being able to be in aspace that doesn't really have a
lot of attention right now andprovide services to guys that
you know they're kind of lackingand don't really have a safe
(01:15):
space to go, a comfortable spaceto go to talk about things.
And now we're providing thatand it's just been such a great
thing so far.
We're so excited as what thefuture is going to bring.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Jim, can you
elaborate on what those services
are?
Speaker 4 (01:33):
About 70 or 80
percent of our business is
testosterone replacement therapyand, pretty much like Bree said
, the guys haven't had muchchoice.
They go to what we call aT-mill and that's just a
facility or an office thatthey're just there to sell
testosterone.
We're not here to do that.
We're here to find out what theissues are and fix them with
our solutions.
If testosterone is one of those, fine, so we'll fix that.
(01:55):
So testosterone replacement,erectile dysfunction, vitamin
therapy, weight loss,musculoskeletal and peptides
share a little bit about whereyou've got two locations.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Share where those
locations are yeah, so we're
really excited.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
So the first one we
opened it in, uh, august and, by
the way, our, our, our staff isextremely talented 20 years of
experience with our clinician athilltop, plus lisa bars, our
medical director and anybodyknows anybody, they know who
Lisa Barr is.
She's one of the best MDs inthe area.
So we have a talented staff.
(02:30):
But the first one was Hilltop.
We opened August the 12th, andthen this is Lansdowne besides
the most busy Starbucks, virginia Beach that opened
October the 14th, and so we'vebeen here about 75 days and we
are going to open a third oneright between Kempsville and
Chesapeake.
We're looking for propertyright now.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
That's exciting.
We are excited to have you guysin the area.
Brie, can you share a littlebit about what men or women can
expect when they come into thefacility?
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Yeah, of course, and
I'm glad you said it that way,
because we are a a men's healthclinic that we do treat women.
We don't treat the women forthe hormonal piece, but for the
men.
They come in, a lot of our guys, like Jim said, coming for
testosterone.
But if, for instance, if youcame for that, you would come in
.
We have a lab on site so youget a blood test.
(03:26):
We test your testosterone, yourPSA and your hemoglobin.
You get those results back inabout 20 minutes and then you
can sit with our provider, talkabout any goals or concerns you
may have, and all of that iscompletely complimentary.
We'll obviously explain all ofthe services that we provide and
if they're interested insigning up with us, then that's
fantastic.
There's no contracts with us.
We just bill every every fourweeks and we feel like we're
doing a great job, for theseguys are going to keep coming
(03:46):
back and for the ladies, I'mpretty much the same.
They come in, have a freeconsult with our provider.
She can explain all theservices that we offer and they
can ask any questions.
All that's complimentary andwe're happy to have them come in
.
A lot of them come in withtheir husbands or, you know the
husband will come in and thenthe next week the wife comes
back and maybe she's interestedin vitamins or maybe she wants a
(04:07):
weight loss package.
But it's great when they comein together.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Jim, do you want to
share a little bit about the
current special for the spouse?
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Yeah, we're really
excited because everybody in the
new year they're always tryingto.
You know new year's resolutions, all the, all the things.
So a new year, new you.
So our approach is that we'regoing to give all the guys 20%
off medical weight loss and ifthey sign up with their spouse
or significant other, thesignificant other gets 50% off.
These are 12 weeks injectionpackages and so anyone that has
(04:38):
done any research on thesethings know that that is an
amazing offer.
We just want to get peoplehealthy, get on the right track
and move them right into thespringtime feeling really good.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Absolutely so.
One of the things when I'vetalked to you guys as we're
aging, it feels like, oh, I'mjust supposed to feel this way
because I'm aging.
Can you talk a little bit aboutthe myths and conceptions of
aging and how we really could befeeling?
Speaker 4 (05:04):
Well, I'll speak
because I'm a guy.
So the problem with you know, you either have the guy that's
40, 50 years old.
He wakes up one day and hefeels really bad.
This doesn't know why.
It hit him like a light bulbRight.
And then most of the guys arelike me, where you're getting
older and you just kind of, youlive your life and the new
normal becomes a new normal andyou wake up one day.
(05:25):
It's like you almost forgot whatit was like to feel really good
when you were in your 30s and40s.
And so you don't necessarilyfeel like there's something
wrong, you just maybe you maybecan't sleep at night, or you're
getting a little bit of gut, you're not getting enough out of
your workouts, a little brainfog, you just start.
These things became normal overtime, and so what happens is
(05:51):
you know, until they, you knowthey educate themselves on what
happens to a man's body isparticular testosterone, they
don't even really know that theycould be feeling a whole lot
better.
And so that's why we do thefree consult, free blood work.
That's our way of getting guysin here, giving them free blood
work, giving them a freeconsultation.
It's an education.
We're not here to try to sellthem things.
We want them to be educated sothey can control their health
and live their best life.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
I just want to add to
that real quick.
A lot of these guys coming inhave symptoms of depression and
they think maybe they need anantidepressant and a lot of the
times it's just caused by low T,so the feelings of feeling down
and not being interested indoing things, and they think,
gosh, you know, I'm just nothappy anymore.
Well, it's a physical, you knowchemical thing going on in
(06:35):
their body that they had no ideaexisted.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Can you share to that
how quickly somebody can start
feeling some of these firstresults of working with you all?
Speaker 3 (06:46):
Yeah.
So I mean, obviously it dependson what service you sign up for
.
A lot of these things, you know, work hormonally, obviously,
with your body.
So it's not going to be anovernight type of oh I wake up
the next day and my testosteroneis at a great level.
It takes a little bit.
We titrate you up to make sureyou're at a good level and your
body stays there.
But additionally we can packageit with things like McBee or
(07:06):
vitamin B complex so that youcan kind of feel those symptoms
of having more energy right away, you know.
And so then, as you're kind ofwaiting for your testosterone
levels to even out or get toyour optimal level, that you
have that boost of energy.
So, yeah, a lot of our guysfeel better as soon as they walk
out of the door.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
So we've talked about
the clinic.
I'm really excited about thisbeing in Virginia Beach.
Meeting you two has been justone of the best things this year
.
Share with the, the listeners,a little bit about what you guys
like to do in the community andwith your family.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
Well, we're boaters,
so anything on the water.
We don't necessarily take ourboat on a lot of trips, but we
do hang out at the dock and wehang out with friends, and so
pretty much everything we dorevolves around the water Bree.
You want to add anything tothat?
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Yeah, I was just
going to say, plus opening these
two clinics and trying to getour name out there, we've really
been participating as like agame day sponsor to a lot of the
community events.
We've been in the area for 20years anyway, but like, we went
to Cheap Fest and we went to theauto show and just getting out
there and meeting people and wehad the opportunity to partner
(08:18):
with the Noblemen and do a toydrive for the holiday season,
which was fun, so just made alot of new people, more people
in the community than we hadbefore.
We're members of Wave Church,so a lot of people reaching out
there.
And yeah, as Jim said, we liketo go.
Our youngest son is in school,at JMU, so we like to go for the
football games.
Our oldest son graduated fromBMI, so we're very proud to have
(08:40):
him on board with us at gameday.
So, yeah, just anything familyoriented, that's what we're into
.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
So your oldest son is
working at both clinics or the
Hilltop.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
He was at Hilltop but
he went to Landstowne when it
opened.
He's doing our admin over therefor now.
He's going to move in to be ourmarketing director, but we kind
of wanted him to get in andlearn the business and so the
guys love him, they come in andhe's a real guys guy.
So he's got about all the goodstuff and, yeah, he's fantastic.
Go in and see him at Lansdowne.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
We are excited to
have Gameday Men's Health in the
area.
Jim, you want to share the twoactual addresses of each
location.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
Sure.
The first one's over at Hilltop.
It's right beside Aldi.
So if you're looking at Aldi,to the right is a medical
building.
You go around the north sideand they have a dedicated
entrance.
The address is 933 FirstColonial Road, suite 101.
The other one is right besideStarbucks at Lansdowne, right
off Prince of Sand, great littleshopping area.
A lot of great restaurants overhere.
Lansdowne, right off Prince ofSand, great little shopping area
(09:40):
.
A lot of great restaurants overhere.
This one is 1933 LansdowneCenterway, virginia Beach, suite
320.
It's a suite, but these are.
