In Galatians 3:19–22, Paul answers a crucial question: If salvation comes by promise, not law, then why was the law given at all? He explains that the law was never meant to give life—it was given to expose sin, to show our need for a Savior, and to point us to Christ.
The law is not opposed to God’s promise, but it prepares the way for it. It reveals the problem—so that we can see the only solution is faith in Jesus.
