Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey everybody, and welcome, Welcome back to the show. Last time,
if you remember, we were talking about Houston, we went
into a lot of generalities about Houston, why it's a
great place to live, why it's a great place to visit,
about some of the neighborhoods, nightlife, and things like that

(00:22):
for both visitors and residents. Now we're gonna step back
a little bit and we're going to go for maybe
for the first time visitor or business traveler into Houston,
and we want to get into a little bit more
specifics on each episode. So today we're going to talk
about the best time to visit Houston, and that's going
to have a lot of a lot of things going

(00:46):
into it, like weather and the different types of festivities
that might be going on that different time. So let's
go ahead and get started. And so Houston, you know,
it both a very humid subtropical climate like most of

(01:08):
us in the Southeast deal with. You know, it means
that it experiences hot, humid summer and mild, relatively short winters.
Understanding this climate is crucial to planting the perfect Houston adventure.
The city's weather can be unpredictable, swinging from sunny and

(01:28):
warm to stormy and rainy in a matter of hours,
so packing appropriately is always advised. Regardless of the time
of year, the best time to visit Houston is generally
during the spring March through May and fall September through November.
Spring brings pleasant temperatures, blooming flowers, and a vibrant atmosphere

(01:52):
I mean as the city comes alive after winter. Expect
comfortable daytime highs in the seventies and eighties, with lower
humidity than the summer months. Remember it does get humid,
and it's hard to deal with the heat and the
humidity together. This is an ideal time for outdoor activities,

(02:14):
exploring parks and enjoying the city's numerous walking trails. Excuse me.
Many festivities and outdoor events also take place during this time,
adding to the lively atmosphere. For example, the Houston Livestock
Show and Rodeo, one of the city's largest events and
I think that would be a blast, typically falls in

(02:36):
late February and early March, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors.
A time in your trip to coincide with such events
could be dramatically enhance your experience, but be prepared for
larger crowds and higher prices for accommodations and travel too. Probably,
autumn offers a similar pleasant temperature and lower humid, making

(03:01):
it another excellent time for outdoor adventures. The heart of
summer begins when the heat of the summer begins to
subside and the vibrant colors of fall start to emerge
in the city's parks and green spaces. This season is
perfect for leisurely strolls and picnics, and exploring Houston's many
beautiful neighborhoods. The crowds are generally smaller than during the spring,

(03:24):
offering a more relaxed and less congested experience. However, hurricane
season officially runs from June first to November thirtieth, so
while the autumn months are generally pleasant and possibly the
possibility of encountering stormy weather remains. Staying informed about weather
forecasts is crucial, and let's face it, it's not hard.

(03:47):
Get an app on your phone, take a look at it,
see what the weather's going to do, and dress accordingly.
Or you do a thirty day forecasts and playing your
trip accordingly. It's a little bit of research. Summer in
Houston June to August, like we said, is hot and humid,
with temperatures often exceeding ninety degrees fahrenheit. This is the
least popular time for tourists due to intense heat and

(04:09):
high humidity. While air conditioning is of course all over
in Houston, spending extended piers outdoors during the summer can
be challenging for many visitors. However, if you plan on
spending most of your time indoors, visiting museums and join
the city's impressive air conditioning, shopping malls, and exploring the
indoor attractions, a summer trip might be manageable, considering taking

(04:34):
advantage of Houston's numerous swimming pools and water parks for
some relief from the heat. Remember, the summer is also
hurricane season, so extreme weather events are possibility. Be prepared
for potential disruptions to travel plans to make sure that
your travel insurance covers such eventualities. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

(04:55):
Winter in Houston December through February is the mildest of
the four seasons, with average temperatures in the fifties and sixties.
While it's much cooler in the summer, it's still considered
mild winter by many standards. You might experience occasional chili days,
but it's rarely snows time. This time a year can

(05:15):
be ideal for those who prefer less intense heat and humidity,
but still want to enjoy outdoor activities without extreme cold. However,
the risk of rain increases compared to other times of
the year. Choosing the right time to visit also depends
on the specific events and activities you're interested in. So
Houston hosts numerous festivals, concerts, sporting events, and other attractions

(05:39):
throughout the year. Researching these events in advance and planning
your trip to coincide with them can greatly enrense your
Houston experience. For instance, the Houston Marathon Yeah I'm not
going to be doing that, I wish I could, typically
held in January, draws many runners and spectators. The Houston International,

(06:00):
a celebration of global culture, usually takes place in the spring,
offering a multicultural cultural feast for the Census. Checking online
event calendars and tourism websites before you travel is essential
to discover local happenings and plan accordingly. Beyond specific events,
consider your tolerance for heat and humidity. If you prefer

(06:23):
milder temperatures and lower humidity, Spring and fall are your
best bets. The shoulder months we call them. If you
don't mind the heat and are prepared for potential rain
smer might still be enjoyable, particularly if you focus on
indoor activities or listen. If you're coming from a place
that's already you know, has weather or like that, you're
you're probably acclimated to it a little bit and you

(06:45):
can deal with a lot more than say, someone who's
coming from you know, the upper Peninsula of Michigan. You
know where it stays pretty chilly all the time. So
winter offers a compromise with mild temperatures and generally crowded atmosphere,
but with potential for more rain. Furthermore, I always love

(07:06):
using that transition word on it makes me feel very sophisticated. Furthermore,
bear in mind that the holiday season November through December
can be busy, with higher hotel rates and increased crowds
at popular attractions. If you are traveling during this period,
be sure to book accommodations and make reservations well in

(07:27):
advance to avoid disappointment. Conversely, that's another great transition word. Conversely,
the quieter periods immediately following major holidays can offer a
pleasant surprise. You might encounter fewer crowds and possibly better
deals on accommodations. Your budget will also play a significant
role in choosing the right time to travel. Peak seasons

(07:50):
such as spring and fall, typically come with higher prices
for flights and hotels. The travel during the shoulder seasons.
Those are like we said, the periods immediately before and
after the peak season can often give you better deals
while I still experiencing relatively pleasant weather. If your budget

(08:11):
is tight, consider visiting during the off season that would
be summer and winter for Houston, but be prepared for
the potential drawbacks of extreme weather conditions. Always compare prices
across different platforms and book an advance to secure the
best deals. Ultimately, the ideal time to visit Houston depends
on your personal preference, your tolerance for heat and humidity,

(08:34):
and the specific activities you plan to undertake. Listen, it's
totally subjective. I mean, I'm not telling you when to
go and not to go. I'm just kind of giving
you the facts of what's going on with weather, and
we'll get into the festivals and stuff like that. A
little bit more, but just so you know what's going on,
so you can make a really good decision for yourself,
do a little bit more research. By carefully considering these

(08:55):
factors and doing thorough research, you can select the perfect
time to embark on your Houston adventure, minimizing your enjoyment
excuse me, maximizing your enjoyment and making the most of
these dynamic and diverse cities. Remember to consult updated weather forecast.
I say this all the time over and over. And

(09:16):
event calendars, and I think we're going to start adding
an event calendar to the to the podcast site so
you can just it's just a click away and you
can you can see what's going on year round on
the on the calendar to your plan travel dates to
refine your itinerary and ensure a smooth and successful trip.
Enjoy the lone star state, most cosmopolitan city. Remember everything's

(09:41):
big in Texas, So if you go to Texas, go big.
And since spring is a really popular time in in Houston,
I think that you definitely need to go ahead and
book book that trip now, go ahead, get those flights,
get that hotel room. Let's go ahead and get going

(10:03):
because there's nothing like Houston in the spring, and there's
no better time to be in Houston than the springtime.
So enjoy the flowers. I mean, it's just the flowers
are huge in Texas because everything's big in Texas. Oh anyway,
enough of me, so I'll see you next time. God
bless
