In Hebrews 12:1–11, the writer encourages believers to lay aside every hindrance and sin that entangles us, running with endurance the race set before us. Our example is Jesus, who endured the cross for the joy set before Him. God’s discipline is the ultimate expression of His personal love—tailored to each believer’s life—because it shapes us into holiness and ensures we reach the finish line of faith. Though painful for a time, it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness in those who are trained by it.
