Hebrews 12:20–29 contrasts the trembling fear of Sinai with the joyful awe of approaching Mount Zion, urging us to serve God with reverence.
Full Description:
In Hebrews 12:20–29, the writer draws a vivid contrast between the terrifying scene at Mount Sinai and the glorious reality of Mount Zion—the heavenly Jerusalem where believers are welcomed into the presence of God. We have received a kingdom that cannot be shaken, so we must worship with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire. This passage reminds us that grace leads to grateful, obedient service in light of God’s holiness and unchanging reign.
