Picture striped pantaloons, puffed sleeves, and feathered helmets - it's like "a deck of Uno cards came to life and joined a marching band." Despite their theatrical appearance, these are legitimate soldiers with serious qualifications: Swiss citizenship, male, Catholic, single, military training, and a formal oath of loyalty to the Pope. They even carry modern firearms alongside their traditional halberds.
