Indigestion & Digestive Health: How Do We Treat And Improve It?

Struggling with digestive issues that never seem to resolve? In our latest episode, Reverend Ann Marie Byars and Rachelle Gianaris reveal why those over-the-counter solutions might be doing more harm than good—and what natural alternatives actually work.

The mother-daughter team starts with Hippocrates' timeless wisdom: "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food," explaining how modern food quality has dramatically deteriorated since the 1950s. They share eye-opening insights about how commercial farming, pesticides, and hidden ingredients like MSG (disguised as "natural flavoring") disrupt your digestive system and overall health.

Beyond just what you eat, Ann Marie and Rachelle explain the fascinating science of alkaline versus acidic environments in your body. Did you know meditation and prayer actually create alkalinity while stress produces harmful acid? Their practical advice on food combining, shopping strategies, and lifestyle adjustments provides a complete roadmap to digestive wellness without pharmaceuticals. Plus, they reveal surprising remedies you may have never considered—like specially formulated aloe vera that contains 150+ beneficial compounds (not the kind you put on sunburns!).

Perhaps most compelling is Rachelle's story about her husband, who eliminated his nightly dependency on Gas-X and "the purple pill" by switching to natural alternatives.

Struggling with indigestion, bloating or
sluggish digestion.

Rochelle unpack themind-body-spirit approach to
restoring digestive healthwithout relying solely on
over-the-counter remedies.
Welcome back everyone.
Skip Monty, co-host slashproducer, back in the studio
with owners of HolographicHealth, ms Reverend Anne-Marie

(01:01):
Byers and Rochelle Gianaris.
It's good to see you again.
Ladies, how's your week been?

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Great, how about yours Skip?

Speaker 3 (01:09):
It's been really good .
How about you, Rochelle?

Speaker 4 (01:13):
Doing good Thanks.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
All right, awesome, awesome, wonderful to hear.
Well, we've got a topic todaythat I think everybody can
benefit from, particularly me,but indigestion and digestive
health.
Why don't you guys give ourlisteners a lesson on it and let
us know how do we treat it andimprove it?

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Well, first of all, hippocrates said let food be thy
medicine and let medicine bethy food, and so food is your
first medicine.
That's the first thing we wantto talk about.
And it's not just eat anythingyou want, it's eat what works
for your body.

(01:51):
And the food is not the same asit was back in the 50s, even
when I was born.
There were over 50 nutrientsmissing from our food.
Then.
There were over 50 nutrientsmissing from our food then and
since then with the commercialfarming and pesticides it has
really degraded.
And currently they're trying toremove a lot of dyes and

(02:22):
unnatural products from our food, which I'm really hoping they
manage to do, because those arecarcinogenic.
They are not good for any of us, much less the growing,
developing bodies of ourchildren.
So the first thing I want tocaution people to do is read
your labels.
If you buy food that is notjust.

(02:43):
First of all, buy organic food, buy natural food, buy food in
the produce section, becausethat is your safest food.
Second of all, if you buyanything in a package, make sure
it does not have any naturalflavorings or anything like that

(03:03):
, because even MSG is considereda natural flavoring and that is
just an excitotoxin.
It goes through the blood-brainbarrier not good at all.
Messes with your whole body anddigestion.
So those are the first things Iwould suggest Eat around the
edge of the grocery store and soreally work on that.

(03:26):
Eat more fruits and vegetables, organic ones.
Secondly, we have some teachingaids that we sell to people.
One is our 80-20 chart, whichtalks about the foods that are
alkaline.

(03:46):
More alkaline and it's not justthe food is how you live your
life.
So meditation, prayer, peaceare all alkaline forming in the
body.
So stress is extremely acidic,as are artificial sweeteners and

(04:09):
sugar.
So you want to minimize thosethings first of all.
So live your life in balance.
Live a balanced life and try tonot get overly stressed.
A little bit of stress is goodto motivate you, to get you
moving, but when the body getstoo stressed is when we get sick

(04:30):
, and you don't want to increasethat stress by eating poorly.
And so we have this chart thatis a food combining chart that
talks about, first of all, vegetables are really the center
of your diet and you don't wantif you are a meat eater, which

(04:55):
I'm not, I don't, I'm, I becamea mostly vegan years ago ago.
But if you do eat heavyproteins, do not eat them with
breads because that's anextremely acidic condition.
And so fruits first, or alone, and careful how you combine

(05:18):
these things.
This is in the center of ourbook Alkalize or Die.
That's one of Dr Baruti's booksthat's been actually published
since 1991.
And many thousands of copieshave gone out over the years,

(05:40):
still in print, still selling it, and so that is the number one
thing that you can do foryourself Reduce stress, be
careful with the foods you eatand be careful about the stress
on your body, how you combinethese foods.

(06:01):
Then we have some supplementsthat help support the area,
because one thing that Dr Marudifound was there's a condition
called hiatal hernia syndrome, called the mother of all illness
, and this can cause belchingand bloating and all kinds of
situations in the body where thestomach gets pulled up out of

(06:24):
place.
And you can actually pull thatback down into place, and you
know we can teach people how todo that for themselves.
Or Dr Brudi has instructions inthe book.
We have a stomach egg thatpeople can use for that and we
have an HHS formula which isreally good for supporting that

(06:47):
area and for digestion.
Now all of our products haveingredients in them made in the
United States.
We have very few ingredientsthat come from any other country
, because they're tested, they're created in the best labs

(07:08):
with standards, so that theyare not just a bunch of
chemicals.
They're all food derivativesand so this particular formula
is to support that area so thatanybody that has digestive
issues has issues with thestomach, they can get support

(07:33):
for that area nutritionally withthe HHS formula.
Hhs formula we also have ourPANGEST, which also helps to
support the pancreas, which isinvolved in digestion as well.
So for people that needadditional support, we have that
supplement as well.

(07:55):
We also utilize a lot of aloe.
We have a really good supplierof a good form of aloe, and that
is an exception, because aloethat is in that product as well
as our colonized comes fromAfrica.
Because of the sandy soil, it'sthe right climate for producing

(08:17):
good aloe, and so the aloe wecarry I went to a four-hour
seminar on how it's grown, withstandards, packaged with
standards, etc.
So the aloe we carry isextremely well documented and
tested, as are all of ourproducts.
So aloe helps to soothe thewhole digestive system.

(08:43):
It has over 150 compounds thatreally help to support that area
and so utilizing digestiveenzymes that we have, utilizing
aloe, our HHS formula, andPangeas, if needed, can really
help somebody to soothe thatarea and get a lot of relief.

(09:06):
So it's not just it's the foodyou eat, it's everything you put
in your body and it's how youlive your life.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
I had no idea you could consume aloe.
Is that okay to eat it?

Speaker 1 (09:23):
The right part of the plant.
That's the key.
Some people use the aloewithout success because certain
parts of the plant causediarrhea, they cause
inflammation and to eat themthey're good topically and so
you don't want to just take astalk of aloe and eat it because

(09:43):
it might not be good for you.
The aloe we carry has the rightpart of the plant that is
extracted and, once again, withstandards, grown with standards,
packaged with standards, etcetera, so that it is good for
the body and will not causethose negative reactions.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
Gotcha Go ahead.
I'm sorry.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
The aloe that Anne is referencing is sold as a powder
that you can mix in water, orit's sold as just a liquid that
you can dose out.
I think it's about an ounce perserving, so it's specifically
formulated for intake conception.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
And it tastes good.
That's the other thing.
People aren't going to utilizesomething like a regular aloe
that tastes slimy, et cetera.
I wouldn't even want to do that, I mean.
But my granddaughter, rochelle's daughter, will drink
this.
She loves it.
It's good for her digestion.
She has this tummy ache.

(10:48):
The first thing that rochellewill do is mix her up some aloe
and it.
I had such problem with mythroat and and my mouth when I
was healing from the surgeries Ihad from the radiation that I
did and aloe was my savior.
If I'm going to be talking much, I will be sipping on aloe on a

(11:12):
daily basis and that has helpedmy throat and stomach et cetera
to recover and stomach etc.
To recover.
And Rochelle's husband usesaloe and digestive enzymes daily
because he was having somestomach issues and has managed
to overcome them by doing thatsimple thing wow well, and I was

(11:36):
going to kind of use it as acase study.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
Um, so when I met him , he was taking Gas-X and, like
the purple pill, whatever thatpurple pill is for indigestion
every night, yeah, every singlenight.
And when I met him I was likewhy don't you try this?
It tastes good and it's naturaland maybe we can reduce some of
the over-the-counter stuff thatyou're using.

(12:00):
So he did.
He started using our digestiveenzymes and colonize, um, and
the aloe drink that we've beendiscussing, and he rarely has to
take those things anymore.
Um, the gas sex does havepeppermint oil in it.
So he actually kind of tookthat and ran and he does like a
hot green tea with peppermintevery night and that is kind of

(12:24):
his, his magic pill.
Um, that's way more naturalthan some over-the-counter stuff
.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
So yeah, peppermint tea is another wonderful remedy
for your stomach and I do wantto point out that my husband had
a lot of stomach issues andutilized that purple pill and
broke his ankle because thattype of drug inhibits calcium
absorption.
So eventually people takingthat are going to have

(12:54):
osteoporosis and issues withbones.
So you really have to watchthat and with the issues people
have these days withosteoporosis et cetera as we get
older, you really have to watchtaking drugs that do that.
So if you can avoid it,wonderful, there are ways to get

(13:16):
off of that.
And that is the kind of thingthat for short term, duration is
one thing, but taking it on andon, you can really set yourself
up for issues in that regard.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
Very good, Wow.
Well, this has been a veryinformative episode for me.
Peppermint tea and aloe had noidea.
And of course you can't go geta bottle of aloe that you put on
a sunburn and turn that up,right, you gotta gotta get it
for you.
Gotcha, Gotcha.
Well, Anne-Marie Rochelle, it'sbeen, like I said, very

(13:54):
informative and appreciate youguys stopping by today and we'll
see you in the next episode.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
Thanks.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Skip, see you then.
