Why is Eating Organic Food So Important?

Could the food on your plate be slowly compromising your health? Discover the transformative power of organic eating in this eye-opening conversation with Reverend Ann Marie Byars & Rachelle Gianaris of Holographic Health Inc.

Most of us have heard that organic food is "better for us," but few understand exactly why. Ann Marie reveals the shocking truth that organic produce contains twice the nutritional value of conventional options, meaning you need to eat half as much for the same benefits. But the story goes deeper than mere nutrition. The widespread use of glyphosate and other pesticides in conventional farming actively damages your gut microbiome—the foundation of your overall health. These chemicals, designed to kill insects, don't discriminate when it comes to the beneficial bacteria in your digestive system.

Rachelle shares her personal journey with severe eczema that mysteriously appeared during college and later returned with debilitating intensity. Through careful testing and dietary changes, she discovered her body was reacting to non-organic grains and corn. Her testimony provides compelling evidence of how our bodies often signal problems through skin reactions and digestive issues—warning signs we frequently silence with medications rather than addressing the root cause.

Ready to transform your health through conscious food choices? This episode connects the dots between what you eat and how you feel, showing how organic foods support not just physical health but emotional and spiritual wellbeing through the powerful gut-brain connection. Your journey toward truly holistic health starts with what's on your fork.

SPEAKER_01 (00:31):
Anne Marie and Rochelle break down the deepest
reasons why going organicsupports your body, your energy,
and your planet.
Welcome back, everybody.
SkipMonty here, back in thestudio with owners of
Holographic Health Inc.,Reverend Anne Marie Byers and
Rochelle Janaires.
Good to see you both again.
So today we're talking aboutorganics.

(00:54):
So why is eating organic food soimportant?

SPEAKER_03 (00:58):
Well, Hippocrates first said many, many years ago,
let food be thy medicine andmedicine be thy food.
So food is your first medicine, always.
And I followed Dr.
William Lee, spelled L-I, and heis the fellow that wrote Eat to

(01:18):
Beat Disease, Eat to Beat YourDiet.
And he said he didn't reallyunderstand if organic food was
important or not.
And so he asked a biochemistfriend of his, and they have
done testing on food.
And organic food is twice asnutritious as non-organic food.

(01:41):
So first of all, you only needto eat half as much, and that's
important.
But second of all, uh manydigestive problems are created
by glyphosate in foods.
And a lot of people who have aproblem with celiac or you know

(02:01):
gluten intolerance, glutenintolerance mimics celiac and
vice versa.
So people that have digestiveproblems, you really don't know
if it's a glyphosateintolerance, true celiac, or
gluten intolerance, but eatingorganic food at least will

(02:21):
minimize that particular issue.
And think about it.
You if something is going tokill an insect, it's not good
for you.
It's going to kill your good gutbacteria as well.
And you can no longer wash offthe pesticides.

(02:43):
That glyphosate is in that food,in that pro in the soil, is
often in the seed.
So you want the heirloom foods, you want the organic foods, and

(03:09):
you minimize all of having topush those toxins out of the
body, all the issues you canhave from the glyphosates.
And there's also one other, andI can't remember the name of it,
but it's a certain kind ofpesticide that they put on

(03:30):
grapes and strawberries that theEuropean Union actually banned
decades ago.
And farmers in the US have stillmaintained the use of that.
They've gotten an exception tothe ban on those.
So there are certain things likestrawberries and grapes that you

(03:53):
should never eat if they are notorganic.
They can cause all kinds of notonly digestive upsets, but
neurological upsets.
So it has gotten extremelyimportant to air your health,

(04:14):
your digestive health, yourbodily health in general, to eat
organic food.
And because of my journey and mybackground, I don't have
anything in my house that doesnot say non-GMO inorganic.
Now the definition of organicmeans non-GMO.

(04:37):
But if for some reason you haveto have some asparagus and you
can't get organic asparagus, atleast make sure it's non-GMO.
So there may be some cases whereyou just can't get something you
have to have.
But when it comes to grains, youhave to get the organic version.

(04:58):
There's just no question.
And some of these other foods, like the strawberries and
grapes, that must be organic.
Rochelle, I know you have somecomments along this regard as
well.

SPEAKER_02 (05:11):
Oh, I sure do.
So, like Ann said, greensespecially are very important to
get organic.
And my favorite way to buy pastais from the Made in Italy kind.
So if it is made overseas, it isinherently organic because they
don't allow GMOs and pesticidesto be used overseas.

(05:32):
So I always look for, especiallypasta because it is a more
processed grain.
So even though I try to limitpasta in general just because of
the heavy carb load, but when Ido want some pasta, I shoot for
that.
Made in Italy, usually tastesbetter too.
But other grains, especially tolook to look out for are oats.

(05:54):
So rolled oats, steel-cut oats, any kind of oats.
Barley is another one.
So wheat, barley, oats, anythinglike that, you've got to really
watch out for because of howit's processed.
It has a really heavy, thisincludes crackers, like anything
that is made with grain, has areally heavy pesticide load

(06:16):
because of how it's processedhere in the United States, too.
So you've got to be reallycareful with that.
Corn is another one.
I will not touch corn that isnot organic.
Um, it is heavily GMO andpesticide heavy, um, just the
way that it's farmed andprocessed as well.
And talked about the grapes andthe strawberries, but but those

(06:39):
greens and the corn, especially, are really, you have to watch
out for.
So when I was, this was a fewyears ago, I was having this
really bad eczema reaction.
So when I was in college, itstarted following a few
vaccines, and it I was able tokind of push it, push it aside

(07:00):
with some topical ointments whenI was in college, but then it
came back in awful force.
It's the itchy kind, and it itwas miserable.
So through our testing, Ann andI were able to figure out what
exactly I was allergic to.
And it was the corn, the grains, the barley, there were a few
other things, but those were theheavy hitters.

(07:22):
And when I cut all of those out,I cannot tell you the relief
that I felt.
So I still limit it today, butif I do eat anything with
grains, it's organic.
And I can tell when I haven't,because I start getting some
little splotchies on my fingers, and it's the same kind of

(07:43):
symptoms, but I can tell too, like the more that I eat, the
worse the symptoms are.
So please listen to your body.
If you are having any kind ofreaction, especially on the skin
or in the stomach, check yourdiet.
Seek out, you know, do anelimination diet if you have to
to really figure it out.

(08:04):
But eating organic is is thebest way to kind of start that
process of feeding yourself goodfood.

SPEAKER_01 (08:12):
And there's a good coming from somebody.

SPEAKER_03 (08:15):
Well, it's a good thing that it's coming out of
the skin because people thattake drugs and do things to push
the it down into the deeper inthe body is really doing you a
disservice because the skin isthe outermost layer of the body.
If it's coming out on the skin, that's usually your first

(08:38):
indicator that there's aproblem.
And so listen to your body, andwhen you have something coming
out on the skin, try to rectifyit instead of just pushing it
down deeper, because then you'regoing to create more deep
imbalances and create moreproblems for yourself down the
road.

SPEAKER_02 (08:56):
Yeah, you want to be sure to treat the root cause and
not just the symptom.

SPEAKER_03 (09:00):
Right.

SPEAKER_01 (09:01):
The symptoms.
Well, as somebody with digestiveissues, um, mine's more physical
though, thank which which, bythe way, is much better thanks
to the holographic health egg Ihave here for uh how the hernias
much better by the way withusing that.
So thank you.
Um but I'm concerned I'm I'm a Ihave a garden year-round pretty

(09:25):
much, and I try to everything inmy garden I want organic.
I don't put any kind ofpesticides on it.
I lose a lot of plants that way.
Uh like broccoli, it gets eatenup really quickly.
But when I grow tomatoes, Ialways I love heirloom tomato
strands, I guess.
Like if you've ever heard ofGerman Johnson or Cherokee

(09:46):
Purple or heirloom tomatoes, they're very susceptible to the
disease, so that you know yougotta really be careful with
them.
So are you saying that like umbeefsteak and better boy and big
all these hybrid tomatoes?
Are those, I guess they're uhGMOs?

SPEAKER_02 (10:05):
Hybrid, the definition of hybrid just means
two types of tomato that havecrossbred.
So that's not necessarilyorganic, or not necessarily GMO.
It just we've created a newspecies, right?
So you kind of look at it thatway.
So you could still have organicand non-GMO hybrids, you just

(10:26):
have to look at how it wasfarmed and um yeah, that kind of
thing.

SPEAKER_03 (10:31):
Yes, and and still even something organic from
somewhere like China that has somuch industrial waste is not
true organic in my estimation.
The US and Europe have a lotbetter rules around that.
So anything from Europe is gonnabe fine, like Rochelle was

(10:56):
talking about from Italy, thepasta and Germany and these
other countries and the U.S.,they have distinct rules around
organic farming, organic foods, and you just don't want a
conventionally grown orsomething that is GMO.

(11:19):
You want a non-GMO and organic.
And the definition of organicincludes non-GMO.
So if it says organic, thenyou're good.
If it says non-GMO and it'sgrown in the, you know, without
pesticides and all that, thenyou're good, generally speaking.

SPEAKER_02 (11:44):
And I did want to say one more thing.
So our supplements, they are notlabeled as organic because it's
very expensive to get thatapproval, but we do source every
time that is humanly possible,we source organic ingredients.
So just a little side note.

SPEAKER_03 (12:04):
And we have everything tested to ensure that
it is does not have any of thosethings in it.

SPEAKER_01 (12:11):
Gotcha, gotcha.
So did does organic eatingsupport emotional and spiritual
well-being?

SPEAKER_02 (12:17):
I think so, because if you think about it,
pesticides are a poison, right?
Like they are designed to killthese little tiny organisms that
might have a negative impact inour mind.
I I I do think even the littletiny organisms play a good part
in keeping the soil healthy, andall I could go down a rabbit
trail with that.

(12:38):
But the the poison aspect, likethat cannot move your body
towards health.
Does that make sense?

SPEAKER_03 (12:47):
Well, and two, there have been studies about weight
control and gut health and thegut talking to the brain, and
how those two really have totalk well.
And these microorganisms in thegut talk to your brain, and
that's how you maintain goodweight.
Well, if you're killing thoseoff with glyphosate and

(13:11):
pesticides in general, they'renot going to talk.
So look at the obesity and thethe amount of overweight people
that struggle with that thesedays in this country.
There's so many people and youngpeople as well that struggle
with their weight, and that hasto be a side effect of that, and

(13:37):
happiness in general.
And I know too from myexperience, if you are not
feeling well, you're not goingto be as happy either.
So your physical health, yourmental health, and sometimes
they put chemicals in the foodthat make you want to eat more,
that's not healthy either.
So when you're eating a more acloser to nature diet with some

(14:03):
good organic fruits andvegetables, a lot of those and
you know, good grains and beansand all of that, you're going to
feel happier and healthier.

SPEAKER_01 (14:15):
Amen.
Awesome.
Awesome.
Well, Anne-Marie, Rochelle, thank you so much.
Uh, your passion for whole bodyhealth is always inspiring and
uh major education for me.
So I appreciate that.

SPEAKER_02 (14:30):
You're welcome.
Thank you always very much.

SPEAKER_01 (14:32):
All right, and uh, I'll try to do better with an
organic diet, and hopefully Ican report that in the next
episode.

SPEAKER_02 (14:38):
Sounds good.

SPEAKER_01 (14:40):
All right.
You ladies have a great rest ofthe day too.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
