Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi everyone, Welcome back to Hood Report Podcast. My name
is Nina and I am here today with the Hood Report.
We have a really good segment for you guys today,
so let's just get right into it. Today we are
talking about the NFL free agency. This off season has
been very impactful for multiple teams, while some did very
(00:21):
little to help themselves and some key names are still available.
Our hosts will provide insight on the team performance in
free agency, along with providing the best locations for the
big name free agents that remain. So let's get started. First,
each of the hosts will select one team they believe
help themselves the most in the free agency, and then
each host will select one team they feel did the
(00:44):
least to help themselves.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
So let's get it started.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
We have our roundtable here, we got Rodney Quinton, we
got tweety here, Ann Martin's go.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Let's get it started, all right.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
So I'm all tired to this, Souf and this is
real easy. We all know who we had the best,
the best re agency. We all know it was the
Denver Broncos. It ain't even club picked up two defensive
players from San Francisco green Law, one of the best
linebackers in the league. We got the safety, he's one
of the top savities in the league. And then we
just picked up Oh boy, England won the best tight end.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Are you serious? We all know who had a number one,
so they just get it that out the way.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Them Broncos was by far had the best free agency.
Now that's some about who had the worst free agency.
It was the San Francisco forty nine ers. They gave
away everybody. They gave where everybody, they gave Way Debo,
green Law, they gave Award cornerback. Their whole team is done.
So they had their little run. So now they just
cleaning house. They goat rid of all them people, and
(01:42):
they didn't pick up nobody. They kept their their tight end.
Oh he's garbage. But anyway, they gat with everybody and
didn't pick nobody up.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
So it's easy. Denver had the best one. We all
know what. We agree. San Francisco had the worst. We
know that's real simple. Let's go. I'm I'm responding that
real quick.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
One of the things you guys will see if you
were talking more football, and he's gonna always talking this
this Bronco ship or what I call him, the little Pony.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Bronco, Nason stand up. I go to the Little Ponies, stand.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Down, Pony because they ain't dead ship in the year
Nason stand down, and they ain't gonna do sh it
this year. So I'll just say that. But you'll notice
that'll be the trend every day. You coldn't know it.
It don't mean shit. Well we we definitely don't agree
with the bron I don't think they had a bad
off season. But I definitely don't think they, you know,
knocked anybody's sots off of what they did. But you know,
(02:34):
they they they they are, they are, they are growing slowly, so.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
My uh in San Francisco. Yeah, San Francisco.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Unloaded a lot, but you know, you know they I
guess they're trying to pay somebody, so they do what
they had to do. But I'm going to go with
one of the best teams. And I hate to say
this is being a goddamn Lions fan. This ship right
here just irritates the funk out of me. But Chicago
bears them some These s obs have had a great offseason,
snatched our offensive coordinator. They have picked up all the
(03:02):
stars around the freaking league. I mean, they are going
to be a formidable team next year, and me looking
over at them, it is starting to scare me a
little bit. So you know that right there is kind
of it's really kind of irking me a little bit
that they actually had a good off season. Worse, there's
only one team, guys, and we already know, and it
resides in Dallas. Them mns ain't dead nothing, hired hired
(03:27):
a puppet for the for the for the for the court,
for the UH for the coach again, and it's gonna
be the same Mickey Mouse show.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
They ain't did nothing.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Jerry Jones talked about doing all this stuff in the
off season and he ain't did ship. So that's gonna
be my worst team going in UH for for free
agency and that we want to Rodney teams too, So
don't forget that and down Conboys, that's one of Rodney teams.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Don't forget that.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
There's there's a list that does exist and they're at
the bottom of the motherfucker but they're on the list.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
That's still your team in two years years. But okay, Fridge,
they don't never do anything. Fred Ship.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
We all in though, But the ship forty nine ers
had to be the worst, the worst team out there.
They gave away everybody, everybody. I hate to say.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Two of them went to our rivals, my rivals. Who
who is that? Right? Losing? Who is that? Yeah? We
got rivals, losing rival. I didn't know that. Who are
you doing about Broncos. I tried to tell you you
I better left them down. I better listen to this case.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
Then they had they picked up to let's go over
there for the Bronco nation.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Damn it.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
But that's okay, that's okay. We got we got our
new coach, we got a new quarterback. We're gonna go
all in.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Last place still looks the same too. If we won't
last last year, you will. We won last last year.
But that's okay. One last division before that?
Speaker 3 (04:53):
Oh yeah, every other year, right my own self.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
But but the work. The best team had to be
what you said, Chicago Bears. Chicago picked umps. Everybody they picked.
They upgraded offensive line, the defense, the coast, the off coordinator,
the defense coordinator. They upgraded with everybody. So that was
(05:20):
my two for freezency this year.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
That's sounds good. I can't say that I have much
to say about your your list. I think it's pretty
solid yours Ak Quentins, Well, if you guys gave a
good list. Actually, uh, And initially I asked Chicago down
as my team did the.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
Best, but I'm go pivoting to go elsewhere.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
So what I would say is this is, while I
don't want anyone to get the wrong idea, what I
will say is I would have to agree with Martin
on linz one because a team that came into the
off season with a strong defense made their defense stronger
by the moves they made. And I have much respect
for any team that has a strong side of the
ball or strength and they add to that strength.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
So I would tell you I think their defense is
gonna be something to reckon with.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
If their offense can continue to grow, then it's possible
they might get The Little Ponies might make it on
my list.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Best in the league, the little in the league. The
Little Ponies might make it on my list.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
Let's go best leg I'm going to say, and I
wouldn't be surprised to see that, quite honestly. Once again,
they were strong last year and to add the pieces
they added, you know, it's tough to say anything else.
I think just the equal to what Chicago did on offense,
Denver did on defense. So I think that is going
to have Denver's defense is gonna be no joke. You
(06:33):
know said a lot of goofy shit today. I'm not
gonna like goofye shit. But that is the best ship
you said all goddamn day, them Broncos. We all know
the Broncos got that deep. Let's go, we need to.
I'm about to do the least. What I'm going to
say as far as who did the least, I'm gonna
take it. Told you different spin on who did the
least because I know that there's been a lot talking
about San Francisco. I'm going to tell you one of
(06:55):
the dumbest teams that does the dumbest ship, that continually
does make the same repeated efforts similar to the Cowboys,
is the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
I'm gonna say them.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Because number one thing, just like Dallas, you wait until
the last minute and you sign your free agents late,
and then you have to pay you You could have
gotten signed your receiver. You could just sign him last
year right for thirty million. Now you wait and the
market change, you have to pay him forty million a
year because he was a triple Crown winner, so a trip.
Once you're a triple Crown, then you got to pay
(07:30):
him top of the market value, So you spend your
money there.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Then you you're the only team of league.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
You got a number two receiver that's going to make
twenty six million dollars a year plan on the tag,
so you have the money tied into the two of them.
You have Joe Burrow that you have forty plus million
a year tied to him. So now your ability to
be able to sign anyone else is limited. And last
year they had a health of offense and Joe Burrow
in them put up health of stats and they didn't
(07:58):
make the playoffs. So if you spend all your on
the offense again and you don't put any money in
the defense.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
So Hendrickson, who's the.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
Top the top sack leader in the in the league
last year, they don't have money to sign him, So
your defense is gonna be the same. You already know
what that looks like, so why would you go into
it and do the same thing again? So for me,
that's dumb shit, which is going to produce the same
dumb ass results. So Cincinnati will be at home they'll
be on three the first three weeks of season. I
(08:24):
had the schedules that I've been released yet, but they'll
be on three starting season, and they'll be scriming trying
to come back and and do things and won't be
able to get stops on defense to get him to
the chance. So I say the Cincinnati back Bengals were
the dumbest team I got a team.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
I would like to ask you a question about Rod.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
What do you think about We both thought they were offloading,
but they wind up signing a bunch of people Seattle.
Seattle went out there and got Samdarnold, They got some
wide receivers to go with him and stuff.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
What do you think about that? Rod?
Speaker 3 (08:51):
I think Seattle is a middle of the road team
because the thing is is this is the first thing
I would say is that they did do well.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
They didn't overpay for Donald, right, so they didn't know
bravery Donald.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
They paid him thirty one million. That's actually not a
bad deal. But what they didn't do is they added pieces.
But the pieces and not complimentary when he had Minnesota.
So you've seen Donald last year when everything is figured
out and they got all the chess pieces on the board,
he looked phenomenal.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
The end of the season, the Lions.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
Exposed his ass, and then he get in the playoffs
and he gets further exposed and he looks terrible because
all the pieces weren't on the board, they weren't all
perfectly aligned. They failed to adjust, and he couldn't improvise
and make things happen. So I would say Seattle was
going to be a ninety eight, eight and nineteen with
the pieces they currently have. I think their defense, because
(09:42):
of you know, the head coach ex Michigan man Go Blue.
I think the defense gonna team to be good. But
their offense, I think it's going to be better. It
will end up being better with.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Gino last year, then we was Sam Donald this year.
You want me be better with Gino, We're gonna better.
You want better? I think it's about time we move
on though.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Let's talk about the remaining free agents.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
Okay, here's a couple.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
We have Aaron Rodgers, Stefawn Diggs, and Russell Wilson.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Let's talk about it. Aaron Rodgers who wants to start retired.
Aaron Rodgers don't want to play football.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
If he wanted to play football, he didn't ready signed
someone with someone right now, either the New York Giants
or the New York Jets, either one. Just pick one, please,
just pick one, so we can stop going through all
this hearing everything that's going on.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
About Aaron Rodgers. Just pick a pick a sode. Aaron
Rodgers has done, just like that burnsteak. He's done. He's
been overcooked. He's done. It's over. But what's gonna happen
is somebody is gonna pick him up. I think it's
gonna be pitch Burn. I still think Pitchburn is gonna
pick him up. I do think upgrade for Pitchburg. I
think no.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
I think from from last year Russell Wilson was will
be better than Aaron this year. In my opinion, they say,
have kept Russell Wilson and leave everybody's alone, because as
you say, last year, he wasn't the same quarterback last year.
And he's on a downhill right now. He's gonna hes
gonna live off his name and that's it. So I
think he's done. Put a four khid him, he'll cut
him up. Go all right, let me let me wrap
(11:18):
it up on Aaron Rodgers just because and it's tough
to be anything but on the same page as these gentlemen.
One thing I would say a little bit different is
I think he wants to play because one of the
things if you look at his pack Pat mcafeet interviews,
he talks about legacy, he talks about how you go out,
and he talked about Tom Brady having the ability to win.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
The Super Bowl and then go out. So I think
he does want.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
To come back and play. He's just doing the same
Aaron Rodgers. Shit, he's done the last five off seasons.
You're talking about him for X amount of months and
he comes in absolutely at the time that he has to,
not giving the team time or opportunity for him to
get things sorted prior to So I think he does
want to play. I think you'll end up in pitch Berg.
(11:59):
I do think from Pittsburgh perspective.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
The one thing I'm.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
Kind of at eyes I think he's done too, is
he can throw the underneath stuff better than Russell Wilson.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Can Russell Wilson better D ball thrower?
Speaker 3 (12:11):
So I think from that standpoint where the receivers they
have and knowing that you're gonna pay play two deep
shelle against them, So if they get their offense line together,
they'll be able to run the ball.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Aaron Rodgers may.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
End up being a better fit for them because of
the defense you have to play. When you have Metcalf
on the one side and Pickings on the other side,
you gotta.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
Pay two deep shale. So I think Aaron Rodgers maybe better.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
But I think he's done and I think he's gonna
he'll be a problem, but I think they'll They may
come out and have a better and more solid team.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
Yeah, if you don't go to if he don't go
to Minnesota, he might go to Minnesota. He don't go
to Minnesota, I think he's gonna retire because he got
all them weapons in Minnesota like Sam Donald did so,
but he don't have them same weapons in New York
or or the Jets.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
So rookie quarterback was playing really good Minnesota. They picking
him up though, because they got the young boy from Michigan.
So you think retire, Yeah, I'm like, yeah, I'm sick
of his ass too. Uh, you know, enough of Aaron Rodgers.
Aaron Rodgers, I think he's in love with the process
of the courting more than actually playing the game. So
(13:22):
this part of the season is his favorite part.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Or who wants me? Who wants me?
Speaker 3 (13:26):
He needs to realize he is not the prettiest girl
in the room no more, motherfucker. Get your ass into
the uniform and then fick you out with a team.
We're sick of it. You're on your way out anyway,
so don't be like the person you replace and Brett
Farr and they have to close the doors.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
To keep you out.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Motherfucker day either play or just going off into the
sunset like everybody else. But this this court and ship
you forty years old, mother, but you are not. You're
not the cute motherfucker no more.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
So problem is.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
Aaron Rodgers loved Aaron Rodgers loves Aaron Rodgers more than
anybody else.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
So that's the problem.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
