Sony is developing a software program that could convert recorded gameplay sequences into playable mini-games. This system, detailed in a recently published patent, uses a cloud-based approach to transform recorded gameplay into shorter, playable segments. For example, a brief section of a larger game could be turned into a mini-game, such as a motorbike sequence or a shooting gallery. This technology has been in development for over a decade, initially potentially aimed at the PlayStation 4 but updated for compatibility with the PS5. The mini-game generator would allow players to replay and compete in their favorite gameplay sections, although there is no guarantee that this feature will be released for current-gen consoles. The system relies on players recording and uploading their gameplay, which is then processed by the cloud system to create the mini-games.
