Draft Day, Memories Of The NY Giants

Husky Talk SNS is back with former UConn Star Sean Mulcahy and Steve Cully as they discuss the NFL draft. The epic freefall of Shedeur Sanders was mind blowing. Looking back from January until April, he was considered a top 5 pick, maybe top 10 at worst. We talk about a major disconnect between the media's expectations and the NFL bringing him down to earth, with their evaluations. Most did not consider him a first round selection and graded him as a 2nd or 3rd round choice at worst. Not having an agent definitely hurt him, as representation can navigate tough situations, put out fires, and manage expectations.

Sean and I then talk about our favorite NY Giants teams, starting with 1990 who won the Superbowl. We marveled how every game is on YouTube and the style of play was so different. The Giants were one of the first teams to rotate running backs with Ottis Anderson and Rodney Hampton. They would go to a nickel or even Dime package bringing on Renya Thompson, Perry Williams, or Myron Guyton. They won games back then based on winning the turnover battle, field position battle, score in the red zone, and 3rd down conversations. It was amazing to watch.
