For every episode of Inner Voices with the Australian String Quartet, we commission and feature a new piece of music created with samples from that episode's subject.

This episode's sampler was created by Jian Liew, an Australian musician and record producer. Liew had an early introduction to music, playing the drums and spending his weekends sampling his mothers vinyl and CD collection throughout his early teenage years. It was through this that Liew began to immerse himself in music. Guitar arpeggios, Synthesiser patterns and his own vocals are a constant theme in his sound, which is primarily electronic and experimental in nature, however finds it footing and origins in Hip-Hop, Folk and Pop music. Liew sees music as the platform through which he feels most comfortable.

The Australian String Quartet (ASQ) is Australia’s pre-eminent organisation dedicated to string quartet music and Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Adelaide’s Elder Conservatorium of Music.
