Brittany (00:00):
Hey mama.

(00:03):
Welcome to the Inside Out Mamaspodcast.
I'm Brittany Turley, mom of six,and I know what it's like to
feel stuck and overwhelmedtrying to be the perfect mom,
but everything changed for mewhen I learned that small
changes on the inside can bringbig results on the outside.
Each week I will share simple, yet powerful inside shifts or

(00:25):
outside tips that can transformyour approach to mothering,
helping you thrive from theinside out.
Ready to ditch the mom guilt andenjoy this season of life.
You are in the right place.
Do you look forward to Mother'sDay or do you dread it?

(00:46):
As mothers we know we give a lotto our kids and we would love to
be honored and appreciated bythem for all that we do.
We have expectations of whatwould be a nice way for them to
celebrate us but sometimes weget into trouble there because
rarely do things go as we hoped.

(01:09):
Sometimes when the season oflife is hard on Mother's Day, we
can also flip to feeling guiltyfor not doing enough or not
being enough for our kids.
either way.
Sometimes Mother's Day can behard.
I used to long for Mother's Dayto be a day off for me.

(01:32):
I just wanted one day out of thewhole year that I could take a
day long break from motheringthat I could not have any
responsibilities, not need tomeet anybody's needs, just sit
and do nothing, or do somethingI wanna do or be alone for just
a few minutes more than bathroomtime.

(01:53):
But it seemed that when myfamily would try to give me a
day long break, it usually justdidn't pan out and would end up
making people frustrated,including me.
Over the past few years though,I have shifted my thinking about
Mother's Day.
And even though now my kids areolder and the possibility of

(02:16):
having a day to myself is waymore realistic than it ever was,
I want to spend my Mother's Daya different way now.
On Mother's Day, what if insteadof waiting for people to honor
us and give us a break, what ifwe honor the fact that we are a
mother and celebrate theblessing that that is?

(02:40):
What if, instead of thinking itshould be a day off, we decide
to use this day to really bewith and connect with our kids.
This shift in my thinking setsme up for having a successful
day because instead of justwaking up and hoping that people
do something kind for me to showme that they're grateful for

(03:02):
what I've done, I wake up andlook for ways to be grateful
that I can be a mom, to begrateful that I have kids that I
can be with.
This approach takes out all ofmy expectations for the day.
It takes all of the stress offmy husband and kids feeling like
they have to do somethingfantastic for me or serve me in

(03:26):
some amazing way.
This approach allows me to justmeet my kids where they're at
and be with them.
The world is full of busynessand so many things that we can
fill our days with, and spendingthat time on Mother's Day.
Just really being with andfocusing on my kids has brought

(03:49):
me a lot of peace on my Mother'sday.
I think being with my kids onMother's Day is a way to honor
the fact that I am a mother.
And I've been blessed with theprivilege of raising these kids
and serving them and helpingthem.
I have found this approach hasmade my mother's day so much

(04:11):
more enjoyable and meaningful.
Now because I believe smallchanges on the inside bring big
results on the outside.
Each week on my podcast, I'mgoing to give you a small change
challenge, something small youcould do throughout the week if
you choose, that could end upbringing big results to your
life.
So the small change challengefor this week is to honor the

(04:35):
fact that you are blessed to bea mother and decide how you can
honor that blessing thisMother's day.
Remember, small changes on theinside, bring big results on the
outside.
