Speaker 1 (00:00):
The movie begins with Greg Whittell, a man who works
in an office where he receives a call from his
daughter Emily, asking him to attend a dinner to celebrate
her graduation. Greg is worried because his relationship with his
ex wife is bad, and he wonders if he could
take Emily and her brother Arthur. The next day, at

(00:20):
his desk, he draws a picture of a beautiful woman.
He is recovering from an injury and calls to refill
his prescription, only the pharmacy says he is run out
of refills. After he leaves his office, his wallet flashes
on his desk as if it doesn't actually exist. He
is called to his boss, Warren's office, where he is fired.

(00:43):
He barely reacts, but suddenly pushes Warren, who falls backwards
and hits his head on his desk and dies. Greg,
in a panic, hides the body behind the window curtain
and leaves the office. He goes to a nearby bar
where Isabel Clemmens watches him closely. She extends her arm

(01:04):
and nothing happens to Greg. She tells him he is
real since her powers didn't affect him. She demonstrates with
a wave of her arm that she can move objects
with a movement of her hand. Isabel knows about the
murder and tells Greg that she will get him out
of the situation since she feels responsible for it, as

(01:24):
she created the world to begin with. She says in return,
she needs Greg to retrieve an amulet necklace from her
ex boyfriend, since he is also real and her powers
don't work on him. She says the necklace contains a
special yellow crystal that can manipulate the fake world. The
ex passed out, so Greg easily retrieves the necklace and

(01:46):
brings it to her. Isabel explains to Greg that nothing
in the world is real except for a few people.
She uses her power to open the window, dropping Warren's body,
making it look like a suicide. Clearing Greg of suspicion.
Isabel takes Greg to a camp where she lives. He
asks her if she's homeless. She says she lives off

(02:09):
the grid. He feels bad for killing Warren, but Isabel
keeps explaining that he wasn't real. Isabel teaches him to
light candles with his mind, and he shows her the
drawings he's made of his dream house and a town
he sees clearly in his mind. She shows her the
picture of the woman, and Isabel says it is of

(02:29):
her and her real life outside of this world. They
share a kiss. Emily goes to see Arthur and asks
for help, finding Greg and convincing him to come to
the graduation. Help me reach ten likes and five comments.

(02:53):
Thank you very much in advance, Let's continue. He says
he can't, that they can no longer trust him. He
hints that his father is constantly injured because he's addicted
to prescription painkillers. Isabel and Greg take more yellow Crystal
and go skating, using their powers to knock people down.
Greg starts to follow Isabel's belief that there are no

(03:15):
consequences because nothing is real. When they leave, they look
back and see themselves getting arrested. Suddenly they are the
ones being arrested and finally released from jail. Meanwhile, Emily
keeps looking for her father in the shelters. Isabel tells
Greg to go to a restaurant without her, and then
he sees her getting into a car like a prostitute

(03:36):
and leaving Arthur sees his father homeless and unable to
buy food because he has no money. Isabel finds Greg
and takes him to a building. She goes inside and
finds a man who makes the yellow crystals. While she
waits outside, Emily finds Greg on the street and begs
him to come with her, but he says he has
to wait for Isabel. He says he's excited about his

(03:59):
graduate and she tells him it was two weeks ago.
She writes her phone number on a graduation photo and
leaves it with him. Isabel comes out, and she and
Greg are harassed by a threatening man. Greg consumes several
crystals more than Isabel said and crushes the man's van
with his telekinetic powers, then vomits. Later, he calls Emily,

(04:22):
but only gets her voicemail. When he returns to the camp,
Isabel is scared because she didn't know where he was.
She's furious that he tried to see his daughter and
devastated that he's buying into the illusion of the false world.
She feels like he's going to drag her down with him.
He says maybe they should stop spending time together and

(04:42):
she slaps him. She says their soulmates, and he says
her setup, where only she knows who is real, has
forced him to depend on her, and he doesn't believe
in her. He wants proof that all of this is real.
She agrees and pulls out some rare blue crystals, which
she says will kick them out of the simulation. Although scared,

(05:03):
Greg takes the crystals. He wakes up in a scientific
facility where Isabel also wakes up. They're known as doctors.
Isabel tells another scientist that Greg rejoined the simulation. They
leave the facility and see a beautiful world. Some people
appear holographic, which Isabel says is trendy. She tells Greg

(05:23):
his memory loss will go away. Greg sees that the
world looks exactly like his drawings, including his house. Greg's
memory has not returned, which Isabel is worried might be
due to them leaving so abruptly. She shows Greg her invention,
the Thought Visualizer, a machine that illustrates your thoughts. She

(05:44):
tells him everything about the world where synthetic biology turned
a dying world into a free utopia. She tells him
that one must experience the good to appreciate the bad
and vice versa that this is what the simulation was four. Meanwhile,
Emily continues looking for Greg. Isabel tells Greg they need

(06:07):
to go to the lab, but he convinces her to
spend one more day outside the simulation, swimming and enjoying
the beauty. They attend a scientific mixer where another scientist
tells Greg that he's heard there are problems with Isabel's research.
Isabel hears this and gets angry, saying no one believes
in her. Greg insists that he does. At the party,

(06:32):
Emily appears as a hologram looking at Greg, but someone
warns that she could be unpredictable. Isabel remains angry and
says they need to go back into the simulation to
get more data, but Greg says he won't go back
and that she should publish her research as it is.
Isabel presents her research on how happiness can only be

(06:53):
achieved by understanding the contrast with its opposite. She brings
Greg on stage and asks him how he feels and
if he has any complaints. He feels great and is
very happy. She plays an interview with him before he
entered the simulation, where he appears surly and frustrated by
life's small annoyances. She asks him if he is missing

(07:17):
anyone in his life right now, and he sees a
hologram of Emily in the crowd, but he says no.
In the original interview, he says someone is missing. Isabel
concludes her research by saying that a man who once
felt frustrated is now happy and excited about life. Afterward,
Isabel is warmly received at a reception. The reception is

(07:40):
later besieged by angry protesters and turns into a fight
and massive chaos. Greg continues seeing Emily's hologram and follows
it where it becomes non holographic. He asks her how
she can be real. She tells him she's not thinking clearly.
She gives him the yellow ques crystal she found at

(08:01):
his camp and tells him he will eventually have to
choose between worlds. Greg takes the yellow crystal and uses
his powers to disperse the protesters, and he and Isabel
run toward the lab as the world around them continues
transforming between the two worlds. Isabel theorizes that they must
have brought the simulation into the real world and that

(08:23):
they need to return to the simulation and take blue
crystals to stop it. They enter the simulation and wake
up in the homeless camp under the pouring rain. They
begin looking for the blue crystals, and Greg sees Horn
alive and starts to panic. They steal a car from
one of Isabel's bathrooms and go looking for blue crystals.

(08:44):
Isabel pulls a gun from the glove compartment, shoots her dealer,
and takes the crystals. Meanwhile, Emily goes to our tour
and tells him she received a call that Greg was
begging outside his old office when he saw Horn. The
police follow Greg and Isabel to the camp and surround them.

(09:05):
Isabel realizes there aren't enough crystals for both of them
to get out, and one of them will be trapped inside.
Greg says he can't stay inside, and she gives them
to him. Greg has another idea. He says she should
kill him inside the simulation and meet him outside. She
doesn't want to and says it's her fault since she

(09:28):
created everything. Greg tells her the world is beautiful because
you never know what's going to happen. Next, Emily arrives
shouting for her father, but the police stop her. Isabel
realizes Greg is still attached to Emily and apologizes. He
gives her the crystals and lures the police toward her

(09:49):
so Greg can escape. Then she takes the blue crystals.
Greg runs away and goes to a rehabilitation clinic. In
a group meeting, he presents the photo of his daughter
and says, this woman says she's my daughter, and I
believe her. Later, Gregg meets with Emily and brings her

(10:10):
flowers and they hug, and that's where the movie ends.
