Speaker 1 (00:22):
Hi, Hello David.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Hi, how are you excellent? Excellent? You good?
Speaker 1 (00:29):
I'm doing well, thank you.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
So. Welcome to another episode of Inventor Spotlight, brought to
you by the National Inventor Club and Inventor Smart Community,
a brand new app built and designed specifically just for
inventors just like you and just like me. So this
is podcast number eight. This is part of our service
(00:51):
for our premium subscribers that have inventions.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
We just kind of have a conversation.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
We want to spotlight you and highlight you and all
the work and effort that you do and that you've
put behind your invention. We'll get to that in a second.
Because I have looked it up. I do think it's
a genius. I love innovation, and I think this is
a market that's kind of people are really kind of
tapping into. But I think it's like completely probably untapped.
(01:18):
It's got to be completely opened because everything is so new.
So I want to make sure I have your name correctly.
Is it Numberg or Nimburg, Numberg, Nunburg, Nirnburg.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
I didn't have it right? All right, all right, Well,
welcome David.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
So again, my name is Sam and this is brought
to you by the Inventor Smart Community.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
It's a downloadable app.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
If you're out there and then you're an inventor and
you have questions, you don't know where to go and
you're getting the wrong information, it's just getting all muddled
and confused.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Welcome, Welcome, Welcome. We would love to have you.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
It is a free app to download. You can go
to your Apple Store, you can go to the Google Play.
Just download the app. Get involved, set up a profile
just like you did, David. Now you decided to become
a premium subscriber, which is you know, toenbooks a month
ninety nine dollars for the year. But that's why we
have you also featured along with all our other premium subscribers.
(02:12):
So we want to highlight you and show you that
we care about you, your invention, your progress, everything that
you're going through. So with that being said, I'm going
to give you the floor.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Introduce yourself.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
David's okay, My name's David Nurnberg. I was in the
circuit board computer tip industry for twenty five years. Then
I got out of that and had my best friend
in the world accidentally die of an overdose using someone
(02:44):
else's scripture medications that killed me. I had known her
for thirty some years, and I decided at that point
that I had to do something about it. I had to.
I had to do something about the class and pill bottles.
They're so accessible by everybody. If those were locked and secured,
(03:06):
maybe she wouldn't have died, maybe, you know. So I
got and I set out on a journey to bring
protection for prescription dangerous description medications. And I started that
in about twenty fifteen. I went through some working and
(03:27):
stuff and getting the patent, got the patent in twenty twenty.
Then the pandemic hit and nobody has taking any new
product submission. So I've been at it for quite a while,
and I decided I decided to dumb it down and
make it smaller and not as complicated as the original patent.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
So I have a.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Patent pending, a patent pending.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
On your current version and your current design. So you've
had multiple designs, and now because of one I saw
online that you uploaded in the app, right, I saw
your your thirty second video, and that appears to me
to be a marijuana stick dispenser that it looked like
(04:19):
it had a lock on it.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
And did it on a time dispense. So explain that
to me.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
It's just a prototype, and it's used for cigars, which
is a thirty billion dollar industry. Yes, cigarettes, cigarettes. It
could be used for that, joints, blunts, and then it
could be configured inside to dispense dummies, really anything cylindrical, Okay,
(04:53):
but I'm going for the marijuana cigar cigarette industry.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Well, I found it interest when I thought about the
cigarette industry because we all know it's just.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
A horrible habit, right, epidemic, right.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
And most people that do smoke wish they didn't at
some point in their time, wish they hadn't. So my
father was is a psychiatrist retired now, but he dealt
a lot with addictions. So he would tell me all
the time that he would advise his clients to if
you had ten cigarettes for the day, right, then the
(05:30):
next day you would smoke nine, So each day you
would just decrease by one. In the theory is the
time you're done for those x amount of weeks days
that you've reduced. So when I saw your product, that's
the first thing I thought of, Like, if you're really
wanting to, you know, stop smoking naturally, right, is a
(05:50):
good word to use because there's a lot of other
things out there that you can try to stop smoking.
I'm not knocking those at all, but I found your
product to be interesting for that that it would just
dispense that cigarette. Is that on a time lock device?
That's what I was trying to get to.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
Yes, well the patent covers that, okay, and this that
the patent that could be added in, so they're both yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
Right now you just you you clicked the device and
then that it from what I saw, it kind of
pushes out the cigar, the cigarette.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
The other Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Yeah, they actually it actually rolls out when you press
the button, it'll push it down and then it's ejected out.
So you could actually pick it up with your finger
instead of having to open it up and close it
and open it and close it, just as you can
put your stuff in there and lock it, and at
your convenience, you press the button and it comes out
(06:56):
and then it locks again.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Got it, got it? Got it?
Speaker 3 (06:59):
So it is kind of a novelty, uh dispense as well.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Yess, just kind of fun.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
You can put all your pre roles in there and
just push that little dispense button in at your.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
Service exactly so convenient.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Yeah, it's very convenient. No, I like your style. I
think it's fun. So so you you you really started
out this project to keep medications safe from from.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Individuals that maybe struggle there.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
And we all know there's seniors in the home that
have medications that you know, some family members may have
access to where where we don't want them to have.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Access to it. I mean, I think it is.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
An exactly exactly right, so exactly what I started out
to do, exactly any.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Innovation that will combat some of that problem or any
creative thought, you know. And I think a lot of
inventors or or people that start movements are motivated through
trauma and through grief.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
I mean it really it motivates.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
Us as individuals to strive to make it better for
others when we've suffered such great loss.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
And you have my deep empathy and sympathy.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
I'm a grieving person myself, so we do understand how
deep that can.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Be and how heavy it is.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
But I think there's honor there too that you've put
yourself out there in a personal probably internal memory of
your friend and just to try to make a difference
and make something better for others that will come along.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
So I salute you for that. I know it takes
a lot to do that, and.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
As inventors, we're work on products for seven, eight, ten years.
And to some outsiders, they're like, what are you crazy?
That's forever, and I'm like, well, yeah, of course we're
a little nuts.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Of course we are.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Yeah, I've been doing this. I get knocked down, and
I got hit up, and I get knocked down. Especially
during the pandemic, nobody was taking any product submissions from,
you know, outside, and I went through one hundred and
eighty one hundred and eighty plus companies either rejected me
or not in their wheelhouse or something like that. So
(09:18):
it's hard to keep going. And I appreciate you guys
for I've been off off of it for about seven
eight months, and I appreciate you getting people back to
get back started again because it still bothers me when
I see all the overdoses and all that stuff that
could be prevented, maybe you know with this product, but
(09:41):
I think Brian.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
I went with.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Brian for eight years or something like that and I
finally joined. So I want to thank you all for
keep pushing me to get this done.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
That's our pleasure.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
We love love to hear that because I think individually
as inventors, I mean, you're you're singing our song, right.
We work on it so long, we get pushed back,
We get a lot of rejection. No, no, no, you
know what what is that drive? What keeps it going?
So everybody has their own personal drive about it. But
and we crave success as well, and I know that's
(10:17):
that's part of it and it should be part of it, right,
that that is determination and they get that mass production
going and saving lives and making a difference and make
it an impact.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
And whether you're.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
Creating something like you've come up with or you know,
I do kind of consumer products. Brian's got some really
fun stuff out there. All these inventors in our community
are really coming up with just such an array of
product that it doesn't matter what you're working on, you're
welcome with us.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
And to that point, David, you know you just said, you.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Know, it was just kind of getting kicked back and
kind of bring you back in, kind of uplifted a.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
Little bit and let you know that you're not alone
in your ruggles as an Inventor.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
We're all kind of especially through covid man that was
it was brutal all across for everyone, right for everyone.
But I'm so glad that you're a part of this
community and I know that you're active in the app.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
And again, people out.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
There, you know, you go to Inventor Smart app on
the web and you can download the app. You can
find all the information that you're looking for. We have
service providers on the app, so if you need some
copywriting done, or if you need a prototype made, or
if you need some patent searches or a patent attorney.
I mean, we have so many resources and libraries and
(11:37):
connections there that I'm learning constantly through this community. So
what has it done for you, David, other than you
just kind of mentioned it's kind of brought you.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
Back a little bit.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Yeah, it's brought me back.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
And so what do you like about it?
Speaker 2 (11:57):
Everyone's there to help you. I've done through marketing people
and they are not there to help you. They are
here there to promote their company. And you know, oh,
oh the Bucks. Yeah, that's the only that's where I've
done the prototype. I've got the patent, I just don't
have the money to get the molds and get it
(12:20):
all going. You know, I've talked to some sourcing people.
Sourcing people is a really good way to get your
stuff out there if you have, you know, the money,
and so that's the only thing. And I guess we
all know that about the money is just to get
the stuff off the ground. But something happened. I'm I'm
(12:43):
I'm confident that I thank you guys, and I do
this for Dawn every day. Down was a beautiful, funny, talented,
loving mother and friend. And I do this for her,
and I do this for a lot of the other
(13:03):
mothers out there that may have you know, marijuana is
something that is lying around. I'm not, you know, just
this will protect that, This will protect all that stuff
from from people getting into something they shouldn't be getting into.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
But listen, David, in honor of Dawn, I understand, man,
it's it's painful for the families. I lost my sister
to a drug overdose, so we understand as a family.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
It's just it's very, very very emotional. It's very difficult.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
So I really appreciate you sharing your personal story.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
You know, and we all have it. It affects all
of us somewhere.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
We have a family, a friend, co workers, people that
we love and care about. So I think this is
an important message to send that there is help available
and there's inventors out there that are trying to come
up with ideas and ways to protect people, sometimes from
their themselves, right protection.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
Exactly, exactly.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
Okay. I am so glad that you're our Inventor Spotlight.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
You've earned it to be here, man, and you know
we're going to keep in touch. You know, we do
so many events. We're meeting in person. You can go
to the calendar and find different things. We're meeting for
book clubs, we're meeting for networking, We're doing the National
Inventor Club once a month, and I know that you're
a part of that. And this is what the community
is here for, is to kind of support and help
(14:29):
one another. And I'm happy to have you on board. Man.
I know Brian likes you, and you know you can
bring some wisdom to our community as well. I mean,
you've been at this for a minute and some people are.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
Just getting started.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
So you know, we like people to stay active in
the group and put your two cents out there.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
You never know who you can help and affect. And
I'm proud of your predictor. I really am.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
I'm proud of this product, and I wish you the best,
and I think we're just going to keep in touch
and let's keep each other updated.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Excellent. Thank you very much for your time.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
You're welcome.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
I've had a great time with you today, and thank
you for being our inventure.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Spotlight Episode eight. I mean, we've got eight in the
books right now. About that episode.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Eight, episode all.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
Right, much look to you and much look to John
as well. All Right, my friend, you have your day,
you too, Thank you.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Hi
