Speaker 5 (02:43):
Hey, good morning everyone, welcome to Lakewood today. Thanks for
coming out.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
How many of you ready to worship the Lord this morning.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
God's been good to us all and so glad to
have you in the House of the Lord. I think
we're saying, like David, it's another day the Lord has made.
We are choosing to rejoice and honored to have you
here and our online family and listening live on serious excent.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Thanks for being a part. I really believe the service
is better because you came out today.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
I mean you brought God with you, You brought joy
with you and faith with you. So we're together. We're
making each other better. But we are always honored to
have you here. And I remind you what I remind
myself each day and especially as.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
We start the week.
Speaker 5 (03:24):
Let's don't start the week, you know, negative and worried
and when Joe I got this problem and guilty and
you know, down on myself. You got to turn that
all over to God. Let's start the week off in
faith saying God, I know you're in control.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
You're fighting our battles, and you know, the.
Speaker 5 (03:40):
Scripture even says God's mercy is fresh and new every morning.
There's something about every day just kind of doing a
refreshing or a rebooting and just you know, there's always
sometimes a worry trying to calme or some kind of disappointment,
but you know, life, life moves by fast.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
Let's don't miss this day.
Speaker 5 (03:57):
This day is a gift that God has given us.
And I know I'm preaching to the car you guys
are in church, but you know you can even be here.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
A little worried or upset.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
But let me tell you, God knows everything that you're
going through today. He knows the challenges and he's got
it all figured out. When you come back to a
place of peace, that's a place of power, and you
come back to that faith saying God, I know you're
in control of my life. You're good, You're for me.
That's what allows God to do great things. So that's
what we believe for each one of you.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Always, always believe it and declare it that not one
of us will leave the.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
Same way we came in. But you're gonna go out
with more joy, more faith, and more victory. Ready for
a blessed new week. Thanks so much for coming out.
We're so glad to have you.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Yes, it is good to see you in the House
of the Lord.
Speaker 6 (04:43):
I love that, Joel, because you know, I like to
use that analogy like a sponge. You know, sometimes when
you're washing your dishes or your car or whatever. With
the sponge, you have to squeeze out the old water
so it gets ready to take in the new fresh water.
And that's how our lives can be something. We have
to squeeze out the worries and squeeze out the distraction
(05:04):
so that we're opened up to receive what God has
for us today. So I just want you to be
like a sponge. I want to be like a sponge
this morning, because you know what, I don't want to
carry the old with me. I want the fresh. I
want the new things that God wants to do in
my life because I know that He.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Is always working.
Speaker 6 (05:22):
Whether I see it or feel it, God is working,
he says in Romans eight twenty eight, he said, I
Am working all things together for good for those who
love me and are called according to my purpose. So
we have to trust that God is working it for good.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
All right.
Speaker 6 (05:41):
Anything that's going on, God's that work in our life.
So let's squeeze out those old ways, those old thoughts,
and let's open up to Him as we enter into
praise and worship, so he can fill us to overflowing
and we won't leave here the same.
Speaker 7 (05:56):
Amen.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Father, we thank you so much for this day.
Speaker 6 (06:00):
And this opportunity to come together. What a powerful place
that we stand in right now. Father, we are joining
our faith knowing that you are a God who is faithful,
that you are with us wherever we go, that you
are working in our behalfs. So Father, we trust you today.
Speaker 8 (06:17):
We squeeze out the old and we are open for
the new.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
God, you are.
Speaker 6 (06:21):
Always doing a new thing, and Father, we want to
experience those new things in our life.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
We want to praise you this morning.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
With all that we have.
Speaker 6 (06:30):
We lift our voices, we exalt you in Jesus' name,

We're here with the song of praise. Lord, we thank

to be alive.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Lord, you woke us up this morning. You gave us
breath to breathe, and stream to get.
Speaker 5 (26:46):
Out of bed, life, to live, family, to love. Lord,
we look back in our lives and see all the
times you made ways well we didn't see away, and
you protected us and favored us and opened doors.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
And Lord, we know that was not lucky. Breaks.
Speaker 5 (27:02):
That was your hand of blessing, ordering our steps, getting
us to where we're supposed to be. Lord, we love
you and we trust you, and Lord, we thank you,
knowing that every good thing has come from you. As
we start this day off, this week off, Lord, we
commit our lives afresh and anew into your hands, we
say make us, mold us into who you want us
(27:25):
to be. Lord, I thank you that we have the
mind of Christ, a spirit of wisdom, that we make
good decisions. Lord, I thank you for clear direction for
our lives. That you are opening right doors and closing
wrong doors. That you are bringing the right people across
our path, and Lord weed out those that shouldn't be there.
(27:47):
I thank you, Lord. We're making decisions that honor you
and move us toward our God given destiny by the
I thank you this morning as we're worshiping You, that

For Lord, our eyes are upon you today.
Speaker 5 (28:22):
We all have situations we may not see how they
can work out, but Lord, we know you have solutions.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
That nothing's too hard for you.
Speaker 5 (28:31):
So we're calling out to you, Lord God, and we're
coming back to a place of peace and of trust.
Speaker 2 (28:37):

Speaker 5 (28:40):
Disappointments, what somebody said, the mistakes we've made, Lord, we
leave that in the past.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
We think you that today is a new day.
Speaker 5 (28:49):
Lord, I just speak fresh vision over your people, fresh
and nointy, fresh momentum, fresh growth, fresh ideas. Lord, I
think think it for fresh attitudes, that we will not
get stuck in the old. But Lord, that you are
taking us from glory to glory, from victory to victory.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
That the best part of our lives are still in
front of us.
Speaker 5 (29:12):
We believe it, Lord, and we release our faith for
you to do unusual things in our lives. And by
the do lift up those are fighting battles in their health.
Watching listening here in the building. Lord, I thinking that
healing is flowing into all those that needed. Lord, that
you can even do what medicine cannot do, that you
(29:32):
have the final say. So, Lord, I just think you
that that healing is flowing into our joints, our cells,
our tissue, our organs, our blood. That with long life
you will satisfy us that the tide would turn in
your people's health. In Jesus' name, And Lord, I lift
up those as well that have gone through laws, those
(29:54):
that are hurting.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
Lord, you said you're close to the broken hearted.
Speaker 5 (29:58):
I thank you, Lord that they feel your presence right now,
that you are comforting them, that even though it may
feel like it's the end, that they'll see it's a
new beginning, that you are still in control, that you
have beauty for ashes, that weeping indoors for a.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
Night, but joy is coming in the morning.
Speaker 5 (30:17):
So Lord, I thank you for the joy that's on
the way, new beginnings, just your goodness and greater ways.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
Lord, You've done great things in the past, but we believe.
Speaker 5 (30:26):
Declare twenty twenty five will be a year of uncommon favor. Lord, God,
show out in our lives in new ways, unusual, uncommon.
We declare we are victors and never victims in Jesus' name.
Speaker 2 (30:41):
And if you receive it, can you say amen?
Speaker 1 (30:43):
Today?
Speaker 2 (30:46):
So great to have you in the house of the Lord.
Honor to have you here. Let's make our declaration of faith.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
Ready.
Speaker 5 (30:52):
I am blessed, prosper us, redeemed, forgiven, healthy, whole, talent, creative, competent.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Secure, focus, prepare, qualified, motivated, valuable.
Speaker 13 (31:10):
Free, determined, equipped, empower anointed, accepted and approved, not average,
not mediocre.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
I am a child of the most time, Bob, I
will become all I was created to be in Jesus' name.
Amen and amen.
Speaker 5 (31:34):
We all have things in our life we're believing for
and you know, trusting that it's gonna work out.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
But sometimes those never lies come.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
You know, it's never gonna You're never gonna get well
or never meet the right person, never be free from
that addiction. But I want to remind you what God
said that what he started in your life He's going
to finish, you.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
Know, the intimate love.
Speaker 5 (31:55):
To try to talk us out of it, really tak
us out of believing for it. Just now, general, Joe,
I live with this chronic pain. I can live with
this dysfunction, but don't don't. Don't settle with things that
are less than God's best. You know it may have
been a long time, but let me tell you this,
God is going to complete your incompletions. He's gonna finish
(32:15):
what he started.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
In your life. Now here's the thing.
Speaker 5 (32:18):
It's up to us in the meantime to say, you
know what, I'm not gonna I'm gonna keep believing. I'm
gonna keep thanking God that that's gonna happen. And really,
the test is when you don't see anything improving. Victoria
was saying it while ago.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
God is working behind the scenes when.
Speaker 5 (32:33):
You don't see anything happening, and that's the time where
it's like, well, you know it would have been improved
by now, George's been a month or a year.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
I've been believing for this child for a long time.
Speaker 5 (32:42):
But let me encourage you to stand strong, keep believing,
because what God started he's going to finish.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
He has never failed us in the past, and he's
not gonna start now. You know. One way to encourage
it in your faith is go back and remember your victories.
Go back and look at what God has done.
Speaker 7 (32:59):
In your life.
Speaker 2 (32:59):
You know I go back.
Speaker 5 (33:00):
Man, God, you give us the compact center. God you
let my mom live forty four years.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
After she has diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Speaker 5 (33:07):
God you help me to learn how to minister when
I've never done this before. Well, you know what those
victories are fuel for your faith. So enemate love to
for you to just focus on the doubt and how
it's not gonna work out. You got to go back
and say, God, you did it for me back then.
I know you'll do it for me again. Let me
tell you he's got you in the palm of his hand.
(33:28):
Twenty twenty five, He's gonna do something unusual in your life, uncommon,
out of the ordinary.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
You don't have to see how it's gonna happen.
Speaker 5 (33:37):
All you have to do is believe, say God, I'm
in agreement, show out in my life in new ways.
You watch what God will do. He's a faithful God.
And we're praying, believing to clearing over each one of you.
And I like to say, you know every year I
do it, but in twenty twenty five, because you know
it's easy to think, well, your joy in the sweet
Bond Bible will be blessed. But no, God, we're releasing
(33:57):
our faith for this year for you to do something
on you usual, uncommon.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
Surprise us, show your goodness in new ways. That's what
we're believing for.
Speaker 5 (34:06):
So we're going to take a moment to pray today
like we always do. If you would like for us
to agree with you in prayer in any area here
in the building, we'd be honored to do it.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
There'll be a prayer.
Speaker 5 (34:16):
Partner at the front of your section, and so during
this next song, anyone's.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
Welcome to come for prayer. We'd be honored to pray
for you. Rest of you.
Speaker 5 (34:25):
You're welcome to be seated if you like, but we'll
take this moment to pray. And our beautiful online family
and listening live on Serious XM. My sister Lisa is
there to pray for you, but always honored to have
you join us as well.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
Thanks for being a part.
Speaker 14 (34:42):
Good morning, and we so appreciate you tuning in today,
joining us here at Lakewood Church. We consider you a
part of the family and so we love you. We
pray for you all the time. And while we are
praying for people in the sanctuary right now, we want
to pray for you. And we the fact that you
send us your Prairie quest. We'd love to hear from you.
(35:04):
We love to hear where you're from and where you
watch from, and so we just want to pray. First
of all, though before I pray, can I just read
a powerful scripture. You probably know it, but it's Matthew
eighteen nineteen and these are the words of Jesus, and
he's talking about prayer. And he said again, truly, I
tell you that if two of you on earth agree
(35:27):
about anything, that it shall be done for them by
my Father in heaven. If you ask anything, it shall
be done.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
It shall be done.
Speaker 14 (35:37):
I just want you to get that into your spirit,
because when you come to the Father in prayer, prayer
produces wonderful results. The Bible says, we pray because it
shows our dependence on God. What we cannot do, God
can do. And he said, ask, seek, and knock on
my door because I want to do these things for you.
(35:57):
And so that's what we're doing right now. We're going
to pray for you. And before we do, I want
to tell you that we got some good praise reports.
First of all, Maryland is grateful for the healing of
her at Siattica. Sorry, man, I know somebody that's had
siatica pain and that's hard, and we're so grateful that
God healed you Maryland. And then Ellen is just praising
(36:17):
God in advance that she's going to get to move
from Dallas to Houston. And we're glad that you're going
to come down here and be a part of Lakewood Church.
And so thank God for what he's doing in our lives.
You know, it's good to remember the things that God
has done in the past when we're going through trials.
Because it's an encouragement that God has always been faithful
(36:37):
to us and he'll continue to be faithful. Let's pray
for families right now. I know that Melanie wants restoration
in her family and her relationships. Angie wants wisdom and
guidance for her husband and her children.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
And you know, don't we all?
Speaker 14 (36:56):
We all want good relationships, and so does God. That's
what he He created marriage, He created families, and he
wants us to be in unity. And right now, Father,
I pray for Melanie and for Angie, Father, that you'll
bring restoration into their relationships, into their family. Father, we
pray in Jesus' name that you would give them wisdom
(37:17):
and direction, that you would lead.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
Them in pass of righteousness.
Speaker 14 (37:22):
For your namesake, Father, we thank you, Lord Jesus for
giving them just a spirit of unity, a spirit.
Speaker 7 (37:29):
Of peace and freedom.
Speaker 14 (37:31):
That everyone in their family will come to know Jesus
Christ as our Lord and savior, and that you will
serve They will serve Him together. In Jesus name, thank
you for blessing them as they go back to school,
as they go back to college, Father, we thank you
that you go with them, that you're watching over them
and you're protecting them in Jesus' name.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
Amen.
Speaker 14 (37:51):
And you know, I want to pray also for those
who are grieving any kind of loss. You know, we
recently lost my mother and and yet the grace of
God is here, the comfort of God is here. And
so it's hard when you lose a marriage or when
you lose a you know, a Sally experienced a miscarriage
(38:13):
and that's hard. And Jess for peace for her best
friend who lost her mother. And so it's hard season
sometimes when you go through a loss. But what I've
learned through this last few weeks is that God is
still with me and that God is comforting me, and
I know he will do the same for you. And
right now, Father, we pray for Jess and we pray
(38:35):
for Sally, that you would touch them in their time
of loss and grieving. Father, that you would encourage their
hearts and strengthen them, that you would surround them with
a good support team, people who will love them. Pray
for them, encourage them, Father and Jesus' name, and we
think you that we know the Holy Spirit can comfort
like no other. And I pray right now for that
(38:56):
comfort to be strong and their mind and their body
and their emotions. Father and Jesus' name and Father, that
you will turn their sadness into joy. Father, that even
in the midst of this Father, you can bring healing
and you can redeem it. Thank you Father, that you
are the great Redeemer in the name of Jesus. Amen
(39:19):
and Amen. And then for the last thing before we go,
we want to pray for healing, physical healing. Evelyn, her
husband is getting a heart valve replacement on September three.
We're gonna pray for him, Evelyn. And then Larry needs
healing from cancer for his daughter. And we know that
Jesus is the great healer. Jesus said, by my stripes,
(39:43):
you are healed. Think about that on the cross, he
not only bore our sin, he bore our shame, emotional pain,
our grief, and our physical pain and so life. The
Bible says, lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. Well,
I can't lay hands on you, you know what, But
you can put your hand.
Speaker 3 (40:01):
On your heart.
Speaker 14 (40:02):
And there is no distance in prayer. There's no distance
in the presence of the Holy Spirit. And right now, Father,
I pray for Evelyn. I pray for Larry, Evelyn's husband
and Larry's daughter. Father and Jesus name, I thank you
for that healing anointing right now that is touching people
all over the world. Father, I thank you that you're
driving out sickness and disease and pain, even chronic illnesses. Father,
(40:27):
I pray that you would restore health to them, you
would restore strength and energy in their bodies, that you
would give them wisdom to go to the right doctors
to make the right decisions. Father, we thank you that
you are the great healer, Jehovah Raphah, the Lord, our healer,
and we look to you for healing.
Speaker 7 (40:46):
And for wisdom.
Speaker 14 (40:47):
And we thank you Father that every chain is broken
in their lives, every sickness is broken in their lives.
In the name of Jesus, we pray, Amen and Amen.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 14 (40:59):
Thank you so much for tuning in as I said before,
and we love you and we so appreciate you being
a part of Lakewood Church. Let's go back and join
the service now.
Speaker 6 (41:19):
Gosh, I believe God received a heart of praise and
(41:49):
gratitude this morning. I love that it says that our
praise and our prayers go up like a sweet smelling
a roma to him. And I believe that, you know,
God is looking at us as his children and he
loves us so much. So thank you for being here today.
This weekend, we're going to take the opportunity to pray
for all of our students all over Houston and really
(42:12):
all over the nation. They're going back to school, getting ready,
getting prepared. So we want to take this opportunity to
join our faith with them, with their parents and with
the teachers and administrators and faculty that this is going
to be an amazing school year. That God is going
to protect our children. And I believe that it makes
(42:34):
a difference to pray, don't you It makes a difference
to declare God's word over our students and our homes
and our families. So that's what we want to do today.
But I just want to encourage the students. I want
to encourage you because God has got you back.
Speaker 1 (42:50):
He's got you.
Speaker 6 (42:51):
You are at an advantage. What God said to young Joshua,
he is saying to you as you go into this
new school year, be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid,
for I am with you wherever you go, wherever you go,
(43:12):
and whatever you're doing.
Speaker 1 (43:14):
God is with you.
Speaker 6 (43:17):
That means when you're learning something new, God is with you,
when you are making new friends, God is with you.
When you face some challenges of uncertainty, God is with you.
You are never alone. You have the advantage.
Speaker 15 (43:36):
You know.
Speaker 6 (43:36):
Sometimes people want us to feel like we have a disadvantage,
or we look at things and we think, well, I
don't have that talent, I don't have those resources. But
you know what God said, don't look at what you
don't have, look at what you do have. You got
me and I have all the resources you need. I've
(43:57):
given you everything you need. I'll bring them the right
people across your path. I'll bring things to your remembrance.
I'll do what you can't do for yourself. And you
know what I love about that is I can't do
stuff for myself, but God can do anything for me,
and He can do anything for you.
Speaker 2 (44:16):
But we have to believe.
Speaker 3 (44:17):
We have to ask.
Speaker 6 (44:19):
You know, if you don't ask God, you may not
get what you really need. It says if you don't ask,
you don't have. We got to be students of bould prayers.
Be a student that knows who you are in Christ
and knows that you're at an advantage and I believe
when you do that, you're going to rise to levels
you never dreamed of. God is going to bring good
(44:41):
friends across your path, the right people, the right teachers,
everything that you need. So I just want to stir
your faith for this year. I don't know if you're
stepping into a new season, maybe you're going into college,
maybe you're going from pre K to first grade, whatever
it is. I know that these students are going to
(45:01):
be covered today, and I know you parents are going
to cover your students. You know, as a parent, we're
kind of like Moses's mother when she put Moses.
Speaker 2 (45:11):
In the basket.
Speaker 6 (45:13):
You see, she put him in a basket because it
was his time to go out, and she knew she
couldn't protecting but God could protect him.
Speaker 2 (45:24):
And so as you send your students.
Speaker 6 (45:26):
Off to school wherever they are, you look at that
as a basket of God's protection, that He is going
to be with them. He's going to guide them, He's
going to give them the wisdom they need. Listen, I
raise two kids, and I know how it feels to
let them go off and you can't be with them,
you can't watch over them, But you know what.
Speaker 2 (45:46):
Your prayers are guiding them.
Speaker 6 (45:49):
Your prayers are moving the hands of the one that
rules the world. Don't ever forget you're powerful in prayer, parents, and.
Speaker 2 (45:59):
God is a faithful God.
Speaker 6 (46:01):
I just want to take this opportunity as well to
highlight teachers, coaches, faculty, administrators. I'm telling you you, guys,
we honor you today. We thank you for your investment
into young lives. You are shaping their confidence, You are
helping them become who they are created to be. You
(46:24):
have the ability to call out the potential in these
young people.
Speaker 1 (46:28):
You know.
Speaker 6 (46:29):
I know we feel like we go to our jobs,
but really your job is a ministry and God wants
to help you with that ministry. He wants to give
you the patience and the wisdom to be able to
facilitate what you're called to do. So I just want
to honor you as well and say thank you on
behalf of parents, on behalf of students, thank you for
(46:49):
all that you pour into these kids. So we are
in just a second, we're gonna declare over our students,
but we also are going to pray a bold prayer,
and when we do, I want you to receive this
as a parent, as a student, maybe as an aunt
or an uncle. But I can tell you that across
this nation we are drawing a line in the sand.
(47:11):
The enemy's not gonna have this generation. We're rising up
in the power of Almighty God, and we're gonna do
what He's called us to do, and that's to pray
bold prayers and to belief. So we're gonna have each student,
whether they're young or all the way to the adults.
Declare over that age group, So will you just open
your heart and receive.
Speaker 2 (47:37):
I declare we can do all things you Christ, who
gives your strength.
Speaker 7 (47:41):
This year, we will have a brave and strong gear
because Jesus gives us his strength.
Speaker 3 (47:47):
In Jesus's name.
Speaker 16 (47:53):
I declare that as we enter our campuses, we will
have an unshakable faith that we are rooted in Christ.
I declare we will be filled with a boldness to
share our faith. We will not shrink back, but we
will stand strong and shine bright. Matthew five fourteen says
you are the light of the world, like a city
on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. This year we
(48:17):
will be a light in our schools. We will lead
with love, We aren't easily influenced, but we are the influencers.
Speaker 3 (48:25):
We will speak truth in love with our actions, and.
Speaker 16 (48:29):
We will bring Jesus wherever we go, because He lives
inside of us. This side declare in Jesus' name, Amen.
Speaker 17 (48:41):
I declare that we will finish the race that has
been set before us. We will not fail, we will
not give up, we will not give in, and we
will not fall short of the calling that God has
placed on each and every single one of our lives.
In Philippians one to six, it says he who has
started a good work in you will carry it on
(49:03):
to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. We're called
to be the next generation of leaders, lawmakers, teachers, business owners, entrepreneurs, artists, innovators,
politicians and presidents. We will lead with integrity, we will
(49:25):
create with purpose, we will serve with love, and we
will carry the torture of faith into every single sphere
and atmosphere that we have been called into.
Speaker 2 (49:36):
This I declare in Jesus' name.
Speaker 18 (49:42):
Come on, Lakewood, family, would you just stand up on
your feet and stretch your hands towards the next generation.
Speaker 3 (49:46):
As we pray and declare.
Speaker 18 (49:49):
Fathering the name of Jesus. We thank you so much
God that these are our babies, but Lord, they were
your babies first.
Speaker 1 (49:56):
God.
Speaker 18 (49:57):
And I thank you for every student Lord, whether they're
in pre CA or God they're in their PhD program. Lord,
we thank you God that uncommon favor will spread throughout
our school districts and our campuses and our colleges. Father,
that it wouldn't just be favored, but God, we would
see record breaking lows in crime, record breaking lows in threats, God,
(50:17):
record breaking lows in mental health issues and anxiety and depression,
record breaking lows Father, and the people who want to
quit and drop out, Because Lord, we.
Speaker 1 (50:27):
Know that we have a.
Speaker 18 (50:29):
Generation that is not godless, but a generation that wants
to follow You, and everywhere they go they.
Speaker 2 (50:35):
Bring You with them.
Speaker 18 (50:37):
So God, I pray and I decree and declare that
the schools God in Houston, around Houston and everywhere that
people are watching online, God, that they will feel the
presence of the Holy Spirit, that things will change, that
teachers will feel rested and resourced. God, that the schools
will have all that they need so that the students
can become all that they were created to be.
Speaker 2 (51:00):
There will be no schools that can keep you out.
But Lord, there will be schools that have to.
Speaker 18 (51:04):
Let you in into the cafeterias, into the gyms, into
the locker rooms, God, into the classrooms and every other
space where our students are. God, we decree and declare
that right now this year will be the best year
of the rest of their life. Father, that this year
will be the year that we draw a line in
the sand and say that this will not be like
(51:25):
in the past, but this will set us up for
our God given destiny. Lord, we thank you for all
these students. We thank you for all the teachers. We
thank you for the parents and the coaches. God that
peace is going before them. We thank you right now, Lord,
that peace is going to rest on their homes and
in their classrooms and in the curriculum God, and in
the students that they think we're a distraction.
Speaker 3 (51:48):
God, they will be.
Speaker 18 (51:48):
The ones that influence everybody else.
Speaker 3 (51:50):
Lord, we thank you that people are coming to know you.
Speaker 18 (51:53):
We declare and declare that this year will be the
school year that we all use to make your name's
great in every other space. Come on, Lakewood family, if
you believe it, can you shout Amen?
Speaker 1 (52:06):
Amen?
Speaker 2 (52:07):
Amen, God bless you, God bless you.
Speaker 15 (52:13):
I'm here with lake Wood Music in Lakewood young adults,
and we're serving together to assemble backpacks and school supplies
for Lakewood's back to school outreach. Our back to School
drive continues to grow each year, and because of your support,
this year, we will be able to help twenty four
Title one schools through our community. We love opportunities that
we get to serve with our church family. Not only
(52:34):
is this such an amazing opportunity to serve our city
and to bring hope to our community, but it's a
tangible way that we can really be the hands and
feet of Jesus.
Speaker 19 (52:43):
Today we're at Bascian Elementary dropping off a truckload of
pallettes that we packed together at Lakewood. This is one
of the Title one schools that we're delivering to this week.
You know, these faculty and staff their heroes. They show
up every day pouring into students, and we get to
play a small part of that by simply saying we
(53:04):
see you, we see the need, and we're with you.
We may not get to see every smiling face as
these supplies are handed out, but one thing we do
know is that every backpack, every notebook, every pencil, every
item has been prayed over, packed with love and given
as a tangible expression of God's heart for people.
Speaker 20 (53:27):
We are filled with so much gratitude with this partnership
with Lakewood Church and the donations of school supplies and
resources for our families. Thank you from the bottom of
my heart and having a hand to ensure students are
successful this school year.
Speaker 2 (53:46):
Yeah, thank you Lakehood. Amazing your generosity.
Speaker 5 (53:51):
You know, together we're helping people all over the world
and right here in Houston.
Speaker 2 (53:54):
And I really love that you think.
Speaker 5 (53:56):
About all those packs have been prayed over. You know,
some of those kids may not get prayed over, but
when they get those packs, the Lakewood family is you know,
just put their prayer on it too. So we'll take
a moment to receive our tithes and our offerings today.
And I always like to say, we're going to worship
the Lord with our tithes and offerings. So this's another
form of worship to God and keeping him first place.
(54:17):
And think about when I was growing up that script
you always heard is you know, give and it'll be
given back to you. But it says pressed down, shaken
together and running over, and I've seen that in my
own life, that you can't give God something without him
giving you more back in return.
Speaker 2 (54:33):
It's just the way our God is. And you guys
are faithful, you tithe.
Speaker 5 (54:37):
You support, and I'm just gonna believe, and I know
you've seen it, but we're going to see it in
greater ways. The press down, shaken together, running over blessings
in your life and you know, maybe another areas, but
how about in your finances as well. Let's have an
abundant mentality even if you're not there yet. It's better
to you know, not going around. Well, I can't afford
it and it's never gonna happen for me. No, I
(54:59):
live under the open windows of heaven.
Speaker 2 (55:01):
Father.
Speaker 5 (55:01):
I thank you that no good thing will you withhold,
because I'll walk up rightly. That allows God to do
great things in your life. So we speak blessings over
all of you. Thank you our online family and listening.
You've got support and keeps the ministry going. Sixty six
years we've been going, and I believe there's gonna be
another sixty six years.
Speaker 1 (55:19):
Man.
Speaker 5 (55:20):
When I look, when I hear those young people speaking,
they were amazing, weren't they you know that's not easy
to do. I asked the not DeVante, but the other
tall African American man.
Speaker 2 (55:32):
He looked like he had that long, long name. He said,
how do you pronounce your name? And he told me.
I said, do you have a nickname? He said, yeah,
I go by Oreo. I said, okay, I'll use that,
but man Oreo.
Speaker 5 (55:42):
All of them were amazing, and just you know, the
future is bright because it's in God's hands and you're
honoring God and keeping in first place, keeping your family
planted in the.
Speaker 2 (55:52):
House of the Lord. Thank y'all so much. I love
that so much, Jen.
Speaker 6 (55:55):
I love the fact that when we give, our giving
is living. Our giving goes on, and it's going on
to those children.
Speaker 2 (56:01):
Those are seeds.
Speaker 6 (56:02):
Those children will never forget receiving that. And not only
is it living in their life, but it's living in
our life.
Speaker 2 (56:10):
See.
Speaker 6 (56:10):
God says it's better to give than receive because he
knows what happens when you have a heart to give.
And Joel quoted that scripture and to give and it'll
be given back to you. You know what, we don't
always know how it's going to come back. It comes
back in all sorts of ways. It may come back
in opportunity, may come back in peace, may come back
(56:33):
in healing. But what we do know is that God
is faithful and he didn't say if you give. This
is then interesting thing about that scripture.
Speaker 2 (56:42):
It says give.
Speaker 6 (56:44):
That means it's something that we should do.
Speaker 2 (56:47):
We should give. We should be givers, whether.
Speaker 6 (56:50):
It's our finances, our time, our smiles, our talents.
Speaker 7 (56:55):
God is saying I love.
Speaker 2 (56:57):
A generous giver.
Speaker 6 (56:59):
And the reason he is because I really believe that
a generous heart is a heart that's been manufactured by God.
Now I can say many of you may have not
had giving modeled in your life. You may may not
have been something that you saw. And so I want
to encourage you because I know what it's like to
(57:20):
become a giver. You develop into this giving mentality and
it becomes something that is so enriching in your life.
Speaker 8 (57:30):
And you know what, God doesn't expect you to just
be this huge giver. He just wants you to give
what you got, a little, a little of this, and
a little of that. Then it becomes so overflowing that
you have the confidence to think, God, I can give
whatever I need to give because I know you are
going to give.
Speaker 2 (57:48):
It back to me.
Speaker 6 (57:49):
I don't have to mean my for and know more
because God, You've given me a heart that's grown into
something that's bigger than bigger than me, and bigger than
my life could ever imagine. So I just want to
encourage you because I know, especially in these times, it's
difficult sometime to develop that giver. But trust me, trust
(58:10):
me in this. A little goes a long way with God.
I'm telling you, a little goes a long way. So
I just want to thank you for being who you are,
and we couldn't do this with that on who we don't.
Speaker 2 (58:21):
It's amazing. We love you guys.
Speaker 5 (58:22):
Let me pray, Lord, thank you for amazing generous givers
Here at Lakewood, those watching and listening.
Speaker 2 (58:27):
Lord, we don't give because we have to.
Speaker 5 (58:29):
Lord, We give because we want to to honor you,
to put your first place. And Lord, I thank you
for what you promised those pressed down, shaking together.
Speaker 2 (58:36):
Running over blessings.
Speaker 5 (58:38):
Lord, I think you that you will give your people
ideas and creativity, bring contracts, businesses, opportunity or that.
Speaker 2 (58:46):
They couldn't do on their own.
Speaker 5 (58:48):
Your hand of favor and blessing. Lord, let their gifts
and talents come out to the full. Lord, I just
thank you for your supernatural provision blessing us all so
we can be a bigger blessing so we can bring
about your kingdom and take the gospel all over the world. Lord,
we just speak your abundance and overflow over your people.
We love you and we give in Jesus name, Amen,
(59:10):
God bless you today.

Speaker 5 (01:04:47):
Strong, healthy, defied the odds, and so of course we
miss her. But you know, we have the hope of heaven,
you know, So thanks for standing strong with us here
at Lakewood. But got a great heritage of faith and
blessed to have.
Speaker 2 (01:05:00):
You all here.
Speaker 5 (01:05:02):
If you're visiting your special guest today, just thanks for
coming out. I said it at the last service. But
your new week goes better because you've taken time to
honor God and be in the House of the Lord.
And I know you guys are busy.
Speaker 2 (01:05:15):
You work hard.
Speaker 5 (01:05:16):
You could be doing a lot of different things. But
you said I'm going to Lakewood today. I'm gonna put
God first place. Can I tell you the scripture says
when you're planted and.
Speaker 2 (01:05:25):
The house of the Lord, you will flourish.
Speaker 5 (01:05:28):
I believe you're gonna have a flourishing week because you
took time to honor God. Know that we love you,
and you know, more importantly, God saw you take the
time to come.
Speaker 2 (01:05:36):
So we love having you here though. But we're gonna
have a great fall. Your kids are.
Speaker 5 (01:05:40):
Gonna do awesome in school. We're gonna keep them prayed over.
They're gonna be leaders.
Speaker 2 (01:05:44):
And just you know, set new standards. But in Jesus name,
when you see yourself on the big screen, can you give.
Speaker 5 (01:05:50):
The TV audi it's a great big lake Wood welcome. God,
bless you. It's great to be with you today. And
I hope you'll say connected with us during the week
through our daily podcast, our YouTube channel, social media, and
you can come visit us in person. We'd love to
have you be a part of one of our services.
(01:06:11):
I'd like to start with something funny and I heard
about this minister. He was driving down the road when
he got pulled over by a policeman. The officer came
to the window and smelled alcohol. He saw a thermist.
Says sir, what are you drinking. The minister said, just water. Officer,
he has to smell the thermis. He took one sniff,
(01:06:31):
said this smells like wine to me. The minister said,
what do you know. Jesus did it again. No, Jesus
didn't do it again.
Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
Here we go, y'all. This is my Bible.
Speaker 5 (01:06:43):
I am what it says I am. I have what
it says I have. I can do what it says
I can do. Today I will be taught the word
of God. I boldly confess. My mind is alert, my
heart is receptive.
Speaker 2 (01:06:57):
I will never be the same.
Speaker 5 (01:06:59):
I am about to receive the incorruptible, indestructible, ever living
seed of the Word of God.
Speaker 2 (01:07:06):
I'll never be the same, never, never, never, I'll never
be the same. In Jesus' name, God bless you.
Speaker 5 (01:07:17):
Do you like to open your Bible to a Hebrews
chapter ten, verse thirty nine, You're welcome to Hebrews ten
thirty nine.
Speaker 2 (01:07:23):
We'll put scriptures up on the screen. Most of you
know we have great services. Well, we have another great
service at.
Speaker 5 (01:07:30):
Two o'clock today. It's all in Spanish and amazing Spanish team.
Monday night we've got a great Bible study. It's online,
tune in from anywhere. And Wednesday night we have the
youth meeting you saw Pastor DeVante the last one here.
It's a powerful minister Thursday night or college students, but
something good for you here at Lakewood.
Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
Thanks for being here. We want to talk to you
today about not shrinking back. We all go through times.
Speaker 5 (01:07:54):
Where there's pressure in things pushing against us. It's easy
to let fear intimidation cause us to shrink back to
where we quit believing for what God promised. But Hebrews
ten says we do not belong to those who shrink
back and are destroyed, but.
Speaker 2 (01:08:13):
To those who have faith and are saved. God didn't
create us to have a shrink back mentality. You don't
belong to that family. Your DNA doesn't have give up
too much, can't do it. You belong to the most
time he's put in you, courage, endurance, favor. You are
(01:08:34):
not weak. You are a warrior.
Speaker 5 (01:08:37):
Don't believe those lives. It is too much and it's
been too long, is never going to work out. That's
the enemy trying to convince you to shrink back. The
scripture says, so you will be destroyed.
Speaker 2 (01:08:50):
You will miss your destiny. How you respond to the
pressure in life will make you or break you.
Speaker 5 (01:08:57):
How you deal with the giants opposition, Those times where
everything in you says to settle, it's not working it, those.
Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
Are critical times. If you'll keep.
Speaker 5 (01:09:09):
Pressing forward, believe in despite what's come against you, you
are passing.
Speaker 2 (01:09:14):
The test. On the other side is a new level
of your destiny. David was seventeen years old when he
took lunch to his brothers. They were in the army.
He heard Goliath taunting the Israelites.
Speaker 5 (01:09:29):
Goliath had been doing this for forty days, once in
the morning, once in the evening. When the Israelites heard it,
they were so afraid they ran in hid thousands of
soldiers had put their destinies on hold at the mercy
of this one giant. Well, David was half his size,
a shepherd, he had no military training, but something.
Speaker 2 (01:09:51):
Rose up in David. He said, in effect, I'm not
like these other men. I don't have a shrink backed spirit.
I know who I believe, I know what's in my DNA,
while the others were hiding, the scripture said, David ran
quickly toward Goliath.
Speaker 5 (01:10:10):
You'd think he'd want to sneak up on him, catch
him off guard. But when you know who you are
and who you are, you don't run from giants.
Speaker 2 (01:10:18):
You run to giants. David slung that rock and brought
down Goliath.
Speaker 5 (01:10:24):
When you face obstacles that seem too big, you feel pressure, thoughts.
Speaker 2 (01:10:29):
You can't beat the cancer. Just learn to live with it.
You'll never be successful. Nobody in your family is. Your
child's not gonna make good decisions. Just accept it. You're
right where David was. Maybe friends, family, they've shrunk back,
they're on the sidelines. Don't be like them.
Speaker 5 (01:10:48):
You don't belong to those who shrink back. That's not
who God created you to be. There's courage in you,
there's favor on your life to bring down the giants,
and the scripture talks about us putting on the armor
of God, the helmet of salvation, breastplate of righteousness, belt
of truth, shoes.
Speaker 2 (01:11:09):
A peace, the shield of faith, the sword of the spirit.
Speaker 5 (01:11:13):
What's interesting is there's nothing for our backside, nothing to
protect us from the rear. That's because you were never
designed to run from the enemy, to retreat, to live intimidated.
When you straight back, you're leave in yourself open. It's
more dangerous than it is to face the opposition. That's
(01:11:34):
why the scripture says, stand firm in your faith and
having done all to stand.
Speaker 2 (01:11:41):
When you've done everything you can, you.
Speaker 5 (01:11:43):
Prayed, believe, taking steps of faith. But the giant is
still there, still shouting insults. You still feel doubt and uncertainty.
Speaker 2 (01:11:52):
Don't turn it ron.
Speaker 5 (01:11:54):
Just stand, be strong, be courageous. Sometimes you have to
outlast the enemy. God wouldn't have allowed that giant if
it was going to stop your purpose.
Speaker 2 (01:12:06):
It's not going to keep you from your destiny like
David is going to launch you into your destiny.
Speaker 5 (01:12:13):
Because David didn't shrink back. He changed the course of
his family line. They were shepherds out in the desert,
taking care of animals. They had no influence, very little income.
Speaker 2 (01:12:27):
I'm sure David thought there's got to be more to
life than this.
Speaker 5 (01:12:32):
He could feel those seeds of greatness, but as he
looked around, he didn't see any way out.
Speaker 2 (01:12:38):
This is all he knew.
Speaker 5 (01:12:40):
His seven brothers were in the army that day he
saw Goliath. They were shrinking back with the rest of
the army. They had been running and hiding for the
last forty days. David's father didn't have much vision.
Speaker 2 (01:12:54):
He didn't think David could do anything significant. He discounted him.
Speaker 5 (01:12:59):
But everything changed when one person in that family made
this decision, I'm not shrinking back. Everyone else was afraid
accepting dysfunction.
Speaker 2 (01:13:09):
Not David.
Speaker 5 (01:13:11):
His attitude was, I am not a shrink back person.
I don't belong to that family. I have the spirit
of the Living God on the inside of me. I
was created to defeat giants, to take new ground. He
had this boldness, this courage to stand strong and face
things that others in his family turned and hid from.
Speaker 2 (01:13:33):
They backed away, but David moved forward in faith. You
can be the David in your family.
Speaker 5 (01:13:40):
Others may have backed down. Addictions too strong. Everyone's depressed.
In my family, we've always struggled in our finances. Nobody
can stay married. That's just who we are. No, someone
has to rise up and break the generational bondages. Someone
has to run to Goliath instead of running away.
Speaker 3 (01:14:02):
You are that someone.
Speaker 5 (01:14:04):
You wouldn't be hearing this if God didn't want you
to set new standards. You can be the first one
in your family to be free from addictions, to say
faithful in your marriage, to raise your family in church,
to start a business, to go to college, to see
your children flourish.
Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
You weren't created to shrink back. You were created to
take new ground.
Speaker 5 (01:14:29):
But when we've seen a pattern of people that give
up on dreams and accept mediocrity.
Speaker 2 (01:14:36):
It can become normal to us.
Speaker 5 (01:14:38):
Where when you encounter a goliath, an obstacle that looks
too big, you hear those threats. Like David's brothers, You've
been conditioned to shrink back.
Speaker 2 (01:14:48):
It's too much. I can't do that. God is saying
to you, you don't belong to shrink back people. That's
not who you are.
Speaker 5 (01:14:57):
You may have been conditioned to think that way. The
truth is, you're a David, You're a giant killer. You're
a history maker.
Speaker 2 (01:15:05):
Be strong and go after what God put in your heart.
Speaker 5 (01:15:10):
It just takes one person to break a negative cycle
in your family.
Speaker 2 (01:15:15):
You can be the one to affect generations to come.
You may be outnumbered, smaller, have less experience, less equipment.
That's where David was.
Speaker 5 (01:15:26):
Wasn't his size, his strength, his skill. It was the
fact that he had the courage to move toward the
enemy when everyone else was retreating. God saw his faith
and breathe favor on his life. He became a giant killer.
Speaker 2 (01:15:42):
That can be you.
Speaker 5 (01:15:44):
I'm not looking at shrinth back people. That's not who
you belong to. I've seen your birth certificate. You're a
child of the most High in your DNA is courage, endurance, faith, fortitude.
Speaker 2 (01:15:58):
Stand strong and you'll see God show out in your life.
Speaker 5 (01:16:03):
A friend of mine was raised in a single parent
home in government housing. She didn't know her father and
her mother was never around. She didn't have any guidance.
She became pregnant at sixteen, had to drop out of school,
and it looked like this cycle of.
Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
Defeat would get pass to the next generation.
Speaker 5 (01:16:22):
She moved to a small apartment and try to raise
her son, but couldn't make ends meet. Had to go
to a shelter, and she found a job at a
school cafeteria, punching meal tickets. Every thought told her this
is who you are. You're stuck here, nothing will change.
But deep down she heard something on the inside saying
(01:16:45):
you were made for more. This is not your destiny.
The enemy will try to convince you that the obstacles
are too big. There are no options, so just shrink back.
Speaker 2 (01:16:56):
But if you'll listen closely, there's a still small vue
saying you were made for more. You have greatness in you.
You can set new standards. And she had every reason
to settle.
Speaker 5 (01:17:08):
All the odds were against her, but she decided to
go back to school. Two years later, she got her ged.
That was good, but she wasn't satisfied. She enrolled in college.
Speaker 2 (01:17:20):
She'd work all day, go to school at night. In
four years, she.
Speaker 5 (01:17:24):
Graduated with honors. She still wasn't satisfied. She went back
to school and got her master's degree. She was then
hired as a principal at the.
Speaker 2 (01:17:33):
Same school where she worked in the cafeteria. God will
do amazing things if you don't shrink back. Are there
areas today where maybe you settled, you quit believing for
your healing doesn't seem possible now you're not pursuing a dream.
Too many doors of closing. You've accepted. You won't get married,
(01:17:56):
won't break the addiction, won't get into college. This is
a call to action.
Speaker 5 (01:18:02):
No more hiding, hiding because of fear. The giant looks
too big. It's intimidating you and God are a majority.
He has not brought you this far to leave you.
You have to get your fireback, get your passion back,
and start pursuing what He's put in your heart. Those
(01:18:23):
dreams have an expiration date. There are windows of opportunity.
You can't sit around nursing old wounds. And why did
this happen to me? And why did I go through
this loss? And I don't think I'll ever get out
of this problem.
Speaker 2 (01:18:39):
You need to check your birth certificate. You don't belong
to a shrink backed family. You don't come from a
DNA of retreat hiding, can't do Your DNA is full
of courage, full of faith, full of can do power.
Don't be like all those others in the army and
run away from Goliath.
Speaker 5 (01:18:59):
Be a David and run to Goliath. There was a
man in the scripture named Bartimaeus. He had been blind
since birth. He was on the side of the road,
begging and asking people for money, like he did every day.
He heard all this commotion, all this chatter, and asked
what was going on. They said, this teacher named Jesus
(01:19:21):
is passing by.
Speaker 4 (01:19:22):
Well.
Speaker 2 (01:19:23):
He had heard about Jesus and how he did all
kinds of miracles.
Speaker 5 (01:19:27):
So Bartimeus started shouting, Jesus, son of David, have mercy
on me.
Speaker 2 (01:19:32):
Again and again.
Speaker 5 (01:19:34):
The people around him said, Bartimaeus, be quiet, quit yelling.
Speaker 2 (01:19:39):
You're making a big scene.
Speaker 5 (01:19:41):
But the scripture says Bartimaeus shouted even louder.
Speaker 2 (01:19:45):
He didn't have a shrink back spirit. He had a bold,
courageous spirit.
Speaker 5 (01:19:51):
About that time, Jesus stopped, turned and looked right at him.
Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
The people thought, all, great, you made him mad. He's
gonna cheer you out. Jesus said, tell him to come
to me. They couldn't believe it. He said, Bartimaeus, he's
not upset. He's calling for you.
Speaker 5 (01:20:08):
Jesus said to him, what do you want me to
do for you? He said, Lord, I want to see
Jesus said.
Speaker 2 (01:20:15):
Go your way. Your faith has made you home. Instantly
he could see. But here's my point.
Speaker 5 (01:20:22):
I'm sure there were other blind people on the road
that day, other sick people, those that needed favor and breakthroughs,
But he was the only one that was healed. Maybe
the others were complacent. Maybe at one time they believed
they took steps of faith, but it didn't work out.
Speaker 2 (01:20:41):
Now they've settled.
Speaker 5 (01:20:42):
The difference was Bartimaeus didn't have a shrink backed spirit.
He kept believing despite being blind his whole life. He
kept calling out to Jesus, despite others trying to talk
him out of it.
Speaker 2 (01:20:56):
Jesus said, your faith has made you home. My question
is are you releasing your faith?
Speaker 5 (01:21:03):
Are you stretching, praying, expecting, or have you gotten complacent
accepting mediocrity, living with dysfunction. Shake off that shrink backed
spirit and start pursuing what God put in your heart.
My father gave his life to Christ at seventeen years old,
(01:21:24):
the first one in the family. He felt God calling
him to become a pastor, and this was totally new
to them.
Speaker 2 (01:21:31):
They knew nothing about faith. They were very poor. They
had lost everything during the Great depression, and he told
his parents he was going to leave the farm and
become a minister.
Speaker 5 (01:21:42):
They said, John, you don't know how to pastors. All
you know how to do is work on the farm.
You're going to get out there and fail. They were
good people, but they had a limited mindset. People that
are living small lives will try to convince you to
live small. Family members that have shrunk back will try
(01:22:03):
to talk you into shrinking back.
Speaker 2 (01:22:05):
You have to be like barn.
Speaker 5 (01:22:06):
Obaas and break out of that bold have the boldness
to take steps of faith. That's what my father did.
He had to hitchhike, but he left the farm and
he went out and begin to minister. That was the
start to more than fifty years of pastoring in ministry
all over the world.
Speaker 2 (01:22:26):
Had Daddy shrunk back, we wouldn't be here today.
Speaker 5 (01:22:30):
Where God is calling you is going to take greater faith,
greater courage. People may not understand and try to talk
you out of it. There will be giants that look bigger.
You'll be tempted to retreat. I don't want that pressure.
Speaker 2 (01:22:46):
You have to be strong.
Speaker 5 (01:22:48):
God has raised you up for this time. He's empowered
you with his spirit.
Speaker 2 (01:22:54):
It's not a spirit to quit, a spirit to settle,
a spirit to run and hide. It's a spirit of power,
a spirit to outlast, a spirit to bring down giants, to.
Speaker 5 (01:23:06):
Break generational limitations, to accomplish more than you thought possible.
Speaker 2 (01:23:12):
Think about the three Hebrew teenagers Shadrach, nijak Abindigo. They
wouldn't bow down to the king's golden idol, and.
Speaker 5 (01:23:20):
They worship only Jehovah. When the king got word, he
was furious. He said, I'm gonna give you one more chance.
If you don't vow, if you don't shrink back like
everyone else, I'm gonna throw you into a fiery furnace. Well,
they had emotions just like us. They felt fear, intimidation,
no doubt, panics set in.
Speaker 2 (01:23:42):
Man, this is life or death.
Speaker 5 (01:23:44):
Everything in them said to back down, retreat, it's not
worth it. This battle was taking place in their mind,
and they could have said, all right, King, we changed
our mind.
Speaker 2 (01:23:55):
We're gonna bow.
Speaker 5 (01:23:57):
It's always easier to shrink back, It's easier to get
out from under the pressure, quit believing, not have to
stand strong, but to reach your destiny.
Speaker 2 (01:24:08):
You have to do the hard thing. If it was easy,
everyone would do it. God is looking for people that
won't be intimidated by the threats, won't back down because
of fear, won't give up because of the disappointment, or
because the giant is bigger. Be a David, do the
hard thing. What I found is when you do.
Speaker 5 (01:24:31):
What's difficult, there's a grace that empowers you, a favor
that enables you.
Speaker 2 (01:24:37):
It won't be as hard as it looks. God will
show up and breathe on your life, strength, courage. He'll
make ways where you don't see a way.
Speaker 5 (01:24:47):
He'll turn your slingshot into a mighty weapon that brings
down giants. These teenagers said, we're sorry, King, but we
are not going to bow down.
Speaker 2 (01:24:57):
We know our God will deliver us. But here's the key.
They went on to say, but even if he.
Speaker 5 (01:25:03):
Doesn't, we're still not gonna bow That's a powerful attitude.
Speaker 1 (01:25:08):
God.
Speaker 5 (01:25:09):
We would rather honor you and lose our life than
shrink back and keep our life, because if you shrink back.
Speaker 2 (01:25:17):
You can't become who you were created to be.
Speaker 5 (01:25:21):
And this takes trust because sometimes we think I want
shrink back and know as long as I know it's
gonna work out my way, I'll face Goliath. As long
as I know I'm gonna defeat him, We'll go after
the compact center.
Speaker 2 (01:25:34):
As long as we know we're gonna get it. That
doesn't take anything. God will ask you to go into the.
Speaker 5 (01:25:41):
Unknown, where there's uncertainty. You don't know how it's gonna
work out. You're saying, God, my life is in your hands.
Speaker 2 (01:25:50):
I'm gonna keep pressing forward despite.
Speaker 5 (01:25:52):
This giant being so much bigger, knowing that you have
the final say that what you purpose for my life
will come to pass. If the giant would have defeated David,
David would.
Speaker 2 (01:26:05):
Have finished his course. He would have died in faith.
Speaker 5 (01:26:08):
If the fire consumed these teenagers, they would have fulfilled
their destiny. As long as you're pursuing God's purpose, doing
what he's put in your heart, then it's up to
him to protect you, to favor you, to move you
into your destiny. The king heated up the fire seven
times hotter than normal. He wanted to make sure they
(01:26:30):
were quickly killed. What he didn't realize was he was
setting them up for a bigger miracle. Sometimes the enemy
overplays his hand. God will let the odds be against
you in a greater way.
Speaker 2 (01:26:43):
On purpose.
Speaker 5 (01:26:45):
Goliath could have been a typical tall man, someone big,
maybe six foot five, muscular, he still would have towered
over David. David was small, but Goliath stood over nine
feet tall. His armor weighed a hundred than twenty five pounds.
He was almost twice David size. That wasn't a coincidence.
(01:27:06):
God let Goliath be so much bigger. He let the
fire be seven times hotter, so that when he turned
it around there would be no doubt. It was the
hand of Almighty God, his power at work. They threw
these teenagers into the fire, should have killed them instantly.
(01:27:27):
King looked in and said, didn't we throw three men
in the fire? I see four men, and one looks
like the son of God. They came out without the
smell of smoke. The King said, from now on, we're
all going to worship the God of Shadrack Nizhak of Bendigod.
Amazing things happen when you don't shink back. You'll be
(01:27:48):
protected in the fire, you'll defeat giants, you'll overcome impossible situations.
Acts Chapter three, Peter and John were going to the
temple one afternoon. He was a crippled man lying at
the gate, and he asked them for money. Peter said,
I don't have any silver or gold, but I have
something better in the name of Jesus, Rise and walk.
Speaker 2 (01:28:11):
The men was instantly healed. He went around dancing, thanking God. Well.
Speaker 5 (01:28:17):
It created a big st People had seen the men
there for years, crippled and begging.
Speaker 2 (01:28:23):
Now you was perfectly healthy.
Speaker 5 (01:28:25):
You would think they'd be excited, so happy, but the
religious leaders didn't like it. There will always be people
that find fault. You can do a good thing, but
someone won't understand. They'll be jealous, try to discredit you.
The leaders had the temple guards arrest Peter and John
(01:28:46):
and put them in jail.
Speaker 2 (01:28:48):
They brought them out the next morning and said, by
what power or by what name did you do this?
Speaker 5 (01:28:55):
They thought they were trapping Peter in John, But this
was a divine setup. Peter said, let me be clear,
this man was healed by the power of the name
of Jesus, the man you crucified, who God raised from
the dead.
Speaker 2 (01:29:10):
Those leaders didn't know what to do with Peter and John.
They've seen a great miracle. They couldn't deny it.
Speaker 5 (01:29:17):
They said in verse seventeen, perhaps we can stop this
from spreading any further. We'll warn them to not speak
in the name of Jesus anymore. They called them in,
said no more teaching, praying talking about that name. Peter
and John had to make a decision. Are we going
to shrink back be intimidated? Let these people silence us.
(01:29:42):
I can imagine the spirit of God rising up on
the inside, saying.
Speaker 2 (01:29:46):
You don't belong to shrink back people.
Speaker 5 (01:29:49):
You belong to those who have courage, who have faith.
They said to the leaders, do you think God wants
us to obey him or to obey you? We cannot
stop talking about the wonderful things we have seen. They
released Peter in John. They went to the other believers
and told them what happened. They prayed in verse twenty nine, Lord,
(01:30:14):
you have heard their threats. Now give your servants greater boldness,
send your healing, your miracles in greater ways. When they
got through praying, the scripture says the building where they
were meeting begin to shake, and they were all filled
with the Holy Spirit. We are living in a time
(01:30:34):
where some people don't want to hear about God faith.
Hope they've never experienced his goodness. They'll try to silence
you and intimidate you, and it's tempting to shrink Mac.
I don't want to be out of place. No, let
your light shine. We need to pray like Peter. God,
give us greater boldness, let us see your favor in
(01:30:56):
greater ways. People can try to discredit what you say,
but they can't discredit what they see.
Speaker 2 (01:31:04):
Those leaders, those leaders didn't want to believe in Peter
and John.
Speaker 5 (01:31:10):
They tried to discredit him, but they could not deny
this crippled.
Speaker 2 (01:31:15):
Man was up walking.
Speaker 5 (01:31:17):
When people see the miracles, when they see us here
in the former Compact Center, when they saw my mother
live forty four years after being diagnosed with terminal cancer,
they can't deny that. God is going to make you
an example of his goodness. He's going to let his
favor shine through you in a greater way, so there
(01:31:38):
won't be any doubt that you belong to him. It's
significant that this verse about not shrinking back is the
last verse in chapter ten of Hebrews Well.
Speaker 2 (01:31:50):
Chapter eleven is where all the heroes of faith are listed.
God is saying, if you want shrink back, you'll make
it into chapter eleven. You'll become a hero of faith,
breaking generational bondages, setting new standards. Are there areas in
your life you've gotten complacent, become stagnant. This is not
(01:32:13):
the time to shrink back. This is the time to
take new ground. You have to stir your faith, get
your passion back. You may have gone through.
Speaker 5 (01:32:23):
Disappointments, a door closed, but everything good in your life
is not behind you.
Speaker 2 (01:32:28):
It's in front of you. Don't settle because of what
didn't work out.
Speaker 3 (01:32:33):
This is a new day.
Speaker 2 (01:32:35):
God is doing new things. You don't belong to a
shrink back family.
Speaker 5 (01:32:40):
In your DNA is the courage of Esther, a young
woman who saved the Jewish people. The boldness of David,
who brought down a giant, the faith of Abraham who
believed without see the endurance of Sarah who gave birth
at ninety years old, the favor of Mary who had
a child without and a man. The power of Elijah
(01:33:02):
who called down fire from heaven. The strength of Sanson,
who defeated a whole army by himself. That's who you are,
A history maker, a giant killer. Be strong, be courageous,
and go after what God put in your heart. If
you'll do this, I believe and declare, like Bardibaeus, your
(01:33:24):
faith is going to make you hold healing favor, breakthroughs
like David, giants are about to come down.
Speaker 2 (01:33:32):
Like Peter.
Speaker 5 (01:33:33):
You will see greater favor that people cannot deny in
Jesus' name. And if you receive it, can you say, amen,
let's pray together, if you have five minutes, if you
can stick with me, just like to seal it in prayer.
Speaker 2 (01:33:50):
Lord, thank you for what we've heard today.
Speaker 5 (01:33:53):
I know it falls on great ground, faithful people here
at Lakewood, those watching and listening.
Speaker 2 (01:33:58):
Lord, help us to stir faith. Show us areas where
we've gotten complacent, where we've settled. Lord, I thank you.
Today we're making that decision. We're moving forward.
Speaker 5 (01:34:10):
Lord, help us to stay down in our spirit, that
we are not shrink back people, that even the giants
that look too big.
Speaker 2 (01:34:17):
Lord, we're gonna move forward in faith that we're not
doing life on our own. Help us to believe, help
us to trust you. Lord. I do speak a blessing
over your people. I add my faith with the blessings
that were already spoken over our school children, teachers, coaches, administrators,
Your protection, your angels, your favor in great ways, watch
(01:34:39):
over all your people as we go out this week to.
Speaker 5 (01:34:42):
Honor you, to make decisions that honor you, Lord God
in Jesus' name, with.
Speaker 2 (01:34:48):
Their heads about in prayer.
Speaker 5 (01:34:50):
Just a quick question, if your heart stop beating in
the next few minutes, are you at.
Speaker 2 (01:34:56):
Peace with God?
Speaker 5 (01:34:59):
Do you know where you'd spend eternity if you died
a little while from now. If not, I would love
to pray with you. I'm not here to condemn anybody.
I'm here to help you.
Speaker 2 (01:35:11):
Find a new beginning.
Speaker 5 (01:35:13):
I know this comes from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
And in just a moment, if you're not at peace
with the Lord, or maybe you are a Christian but
you've grown cold toward God, you know you need to
rededicate your life.
Speaker 2 (01:35:29):
You need a fresh new star.
Speaker 5 (01:35:31):
If that's you, In just a moment, I'm going to
ask you to take a step of faith and stand
right where you are, and we'll pray together. I can't
think of a better time to get on the road
to victory than right now. God is not mad at you.
Your sins have already been forgiven. All you have to
do is accept the free gift of Christ's salvation. Will
(01:35:56):
you do it this morning? The enemy will always whisper
in you in your thoughts. Do it next week, do
it another time. Listen to the Bible says today is
the day of salvation.
Speaker 2 (01:36:09):
Don't put it off. It's so easy.
Speaker 5 (01:36:11):
Yeah, but Joe's embarrassing to stand in front of everyone.
I have people at the house. I can't lift my hand.
Listen to what Jesus said. If you won't be ashamed
of me before people, then I won't be ashamed of
you before my father in heaven. I'm gonna give you
a great opportunity to show God that you're not ashamed
(01:36:31):
of him.
Speaker 2 (01:36:32):
If you're not at.
Speaker 5 (01:36:33):
Peace with the Lord, or you just need to rededicate
your life, you need a fresh new start, You need
a new beginning. If that's you, would you be bold,
take that step of faith and stand right where you
are and we'll pray together.
Speaker 2 (01:36:46):
Would you do it? Come on, Lake what Let's give
him a hand? As they saying all over the building,
come on, don't put it off.
Speaker 5 (01:36:59):
I feel like out of the others anybody else. Your
heart's beating past. That's God drawing you, Cola. Well, let's
keep playing there. They're still standing in pop top watching
listening still time for you?
Speaker 2 (01:37:12):
Anybody else will God bless you?
Speaker 5 (01:37:19):
Please remain standing. If you don't mind, let me tell
you how proud we are of you. I know that
took courage to stand. More importantly, I know God's never
gonna be ashamed of you because you took this step
of faith.
Speaker 2 (01:37:31):
Today, we are proud of you. Listening to the scripture
says whoever calls on the name of the.
Speaker 5 (01:37:36):
Lord will be saved. Let me help you to call.
Do you mind all praying this after me? If you would,
Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins, Come into my heart.
I make you my Lord and Savior. Amen, or remains
standing one more moment. If you don't mind, I want
(01:37:57):
to tell you how much we love you. We're gonna
be praying for you. I also want to give you
a personal invitation and to challenge to come back and
be with us on a regular basis. We as new believers,
give us the next year of your life. Make a commitment,
just like you go to work, that every time you
can for the next year, you're gonna be here. I'll
(01:38:17):
make a promise before that year is over, your life
will never be the.
Speaker 2 (01:38:21):
Same for the better. We are gonna help you grow
and become who God's created you to be. And I
said it earlier. I know you're busy, you work hard.
It's maybe a day.
Speaker 5 (01:38:31):
Off, but there is a blessing on your life when
you put God first place. You get into a community
of faith. And I'd love for you to get plugged in.
Not to make your work, but I want you to
meet some amazing people. Have some great friends here at Lakewood.
You can join us here as choirs, greeter prayer partners,
kids ministry, so many areas you can.

over here. Any of you can.
Speaker 5 (01:39:06):

I'm usually in the lobby. I'll be out there soon.
I'd love to meet you. I'll be back in a
couple of weeks, but I love to meet you. Know this,
the moment you stood up, God washed away all your
sins and mistakes and failures. You are starting with a fresh,
clean slate. Write it down in your bible. August seventeenth,
(01:39:26):
twenty twenty five, a new day of victory in your life.
Speaker 2 (01:39:30):
In Jesus' name.
Speaker 5 (01:39:31):

How many of you going home better off than you
were before? Amen, I'd love to speak a blessing until
we meet again. Made the Lord bless you and keep you,
made the Lord show you his favor and have mercy
