What’s The Deal With Memberships?

Wondering if aerial training is accessible without "signing your soul away"? Coaches Jill and Rosie address this common concern with refreshing honesty while unveiling the philosophy behind Cohesive Movement Center's unique membership model.

The coaches reveal how their approach fundamentally differs from traditional studio spaces. Rather than limiting athletes to rigid class schedules, CMC provides members with key card access 16.5 hours daily, allowing training on your terms. This revolutionary approach empowers aerial athletes to progress at their pace while maintaining crucial safety standards. Jill and Rosie explain their careful balance of autonomy and responsibility—members enjoy unprecedented freedom while receiving proper education about what they can safely practice independently.

Privacy emerges as another cornerstone of their philosophy. Unlike many fitness spaces, CMC prioritizes discretion, never posting content featuring members without explicit permission. This creates a sanctuary where professionals from all walks of life can train without concerns about unwanted exposure. The coaches also detail their innovative course structure, from novice fundamentals to advanced professional techniques, complete with weekly descriptions that eliminate guessing games about what to expect. For those hesitant about starting because they lack strength or flexibility, there's reassuring news: their comprehensive program includes specifically designed cross-training methods to build necessary physical capabilities alongside technical skills.

Ready to experience aerial training that respects your schedule, privacy, and individual journey? Visit online or call to discover how you can join this supportive community of aerial athletes.

Speaker 1 (00:04):
Welcome to the Join the Movement podcast with
Cohesive Movement Center, whereaerial athletes train, inspire
and push the limits of movement.
Hosted by Coach Jill Atkinsonand Coach Rosie Wandel, we dive
into the art, science andpassion behind aerial training.
Whether you're a seasonedathlete or just starting your

(00:24):
journey, we're here to lift youhigher.
Let's get moving.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Commitment issues.
We get it when it comes toaerial training.
Some people want to dip theirtoes in, while others want to
fly full time.
Coaches Jill Adkins and RosieWandell break down membership
options, how they work for allskill levels and why you will
have to trade your soul forunlimited classes.
Welcome back everyone.

(00:56):
I'm Smofia Yagatwowo, slashproducer.
Back in the studio.
We've coached Julie Adkins andRosie Wandale.
Jill and Rosie, how's it goingtoday?
Really great, great.
So, jill and Rosie, what's thedeal with memberships?
Do I have to sign my life awayand how do you accommodate

(01:16):
different skill levels fromnewbies to newbies?

Speaker 3 (01:20):
I love it.
No, you do not need to give usyour soul.
We're not in the business oftaking souls these days, at
least not yet.
So the difference that we haveand that we decided to come with
our mission for the community,is a true membership base.
We actually do not staff ourcenter full time.
So the reason we have amembership with regard to

(01:42):
liability waivers, all thethings is because we need to
make sure that you are setappropriately, understand the
safety of the current level andwhere you are in your journey
and what you can safely do ifyou are left unsupervised, so
that you also understand thatsafety first.
That is the reason.
So, by all means, you are notsigning your life away, of

(02:04):
course.
That is the reason.
So, by all means, you are notsigning your life away.
But we also, just as any othergym or training center, you are
going to sign some necessarydocuments that basically say
that you understand that you'regrown and you can make decisions
and we don't want you to faceplant it on your own watch.
So that's basically the gist ofit.

(02:24):
So it's not sending your lifeaway.
We also take pride in privacy, and privacy is very important to
us.
No one will know that you are inour space unless you put it out
there, and we will happilyshare things if you tag us in
social media posts.
But we do not post things onyour behalf because we do have

(02:45):
clients that are in severalfactors of their own careers,
lives, all the things and so wedo not post social media content
.
We do host community eventswhere photos may be taken, so we
do ask for a waiver to besigned with regard to that,
because those are things thatare community-based, that we
would like to promote.

(03:05):
So there are certain times thatwe will promote things.
So the membership base alsomakes you and gives you the
understanding and everybodymeets in the middle to
understand that you know thatyour membership is 16 and a half
hours a day.
You have a key card that youare responsible for, which is
going to allow you to get in andout of our center as you choose

(03:26):
.
It also allows you the accessto our gym, also allows you
access to our aerial trainingapparatuses, as well as our
competition space and ourpost-rehab space, as well as our
supplement bar.
So there's a lot that goes intoit, but we educate you along
the way to make sure that youalso can come in and out of here

(03:47):
, understanding where lights are, how to turn things on and off,
and most times you may actuallytrain in here by yourself.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
Exactly, and we have house rules letting everybody
know to leave it better.
Then you found it, found it.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
So, jill and Rosie, what types of membership options
do you offer and how flexibleare they for different
commitment levels?

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Okay, Everybody gets the same commitment as far as
what their key card offers them.
So your key card pass offersyou 16 and a half hours each and
every day, seven days a week, which is between the hours of
530 am and 10 o'clock pm is whenthose key cards will work.
It is up to you whether youchoose your time, that you're

(04:32):
coming in.
We do have some structured time.
This is always going to be acontinually functioning space
where, even if there is a coursehappening as a member, you can
still come in here and train onaerial apparatuses and or work
out in our gym atmosphere aswell while things are happening
here.
So that is another thing thatmakes us different from a local

(04:54):
studio space.
You would be able to only takethat class and then off you go.
Here we offer a little bit of adifferent, more flexible
environment.
For that reason, Jill and Rosie.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
How do you structure classes to ensure that beginners
feel supported while advancedstudents, who fail to be
challenged, feel supported whileadvanced students?

Speaker 3 (05:16):
who fail to be challenged.
So we are offering fundamentalscourses from novice, which is
our beginners, to our advanced, which are more or less our
professionals.
With regard to that, there'salso our intermediate, which is

(05:47):
our intermediate.
So, with regard to that, ifyou've never walked into a
aerial studio in your life, wedo have fundamentals courses
that are introductory.
Gives you the language and theverbiage that you need to know
to develop that language of poledance.
Also helps you to get familiarwith terms, with what things are
inside, outside, up and down, and jumping all the things side,
outside up and down and jumpingall the things.
And that also then leads intoour more professional slash,
advanced members also gives themthe ability to go backwards, so
we allow people to slide thatscale from beginner to advanced,
advanced back down to beginner.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
And what advice would you give someone hesitant about
joining because they thinkthey're not strong enough or not
flexible enough for aerialtraining?

Speaker 4 (06:21):
We have a lot of people in that position right
now and what we do is we explainand go through with them what
they're going to be learning.
Basically.
They're going everyone is goingto learn the true flexibility
of the particular moves thatthey're going to be doing in
throughout the coursework.
They're going to learn the trueflexibility of the particular
moves that they're going to bedoing in throughout the
coursework.
They're going to be taughtthrough their cross-training

(06:43):
methods of what is going to beneeded to help them do a
particular move.
That's part of our performancecoaching that we are going to
encourage them and show them theway from beginning to end and
then afterwards getting themutilizing the post type of
workout supplement and nutrition.
A lot of it is all combinedtogether and we do have.

(07:05):
We have had a lot of hesitance, but a lot of people are really
excited about this starting.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
And the other positive is, once you become a
member, you have access to signup for these courses.
Yeah, and every week.
So we run these courses.
Our intro course is four weeks.
Every other course we run issix weeks.
Each week has a descriptiononline.
So once you become a member, youhave access to these particular
programs and every program weekwas going to tell you exactly

(07:32):
what you're signing up for, soyou can know, walking in the
door and have some comfortablelevel of understanding.
Okay, I'm going to walk in thedoor and this is what I'm
expecting this week.
Do I need to bring socks?
Do I need to bring leg warmers?
Do I need to bring pants?
Should I bring shorts andshould I bring knee pads or
shoes?
So it prepares the person who'scoming in for that particular

(07:54):
course week on what to expect.
Because we also find thatsomething that's missing is the
guessing game of when you walkinto a studio space, of what to
expect for your course, theirclass, that day.
We actually have this alreadyscheduled out for you, so you
know what to expect when youwalk in the door.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Coaches Jill and Rosie.
I really appreciate you beingon the show.
We'll catch you in the nextepisode.
Have a fantastic rest of yourday.
Thank you so much.
Bye, bye.
