The runaway rainbow.
It was one of those days wheneverything felt a bit gray.
The sky was cloudy, the gardenwas soggy, and even the daisies
looked a little droopy.
Alice and Freddy sat in the shedsharing a banana sandwich and

watching raindrops drip from theroof.
Mr.
Sniffer tin, their excitable dogsat beside them, guarding an old
wellie boot like it held thesecrets of the universe.
It feels like it's been rainingfor a week.
Grumbled Freddy Alice side, andthere hasn't been a rainbow yet.
Just then, zoo a twinkle ofsparkles shot past the shed

(00:47):
window, followed by a blur ofcolorful light and a trail of
glitter.
Alice jumped up.
Was that.
A rocket or a rainbow, I thinksaid Freddy squinting.
That was a rainbow on the run,Mr.

(01:09):
Sniffer tin barked and launchedhimself into the garden for a
better look.
Tail twirling like a helicopterblade.
The kids burst out of the shedjust in time to see two familiar
figures floating above the sandpit on their broomsticks Molly
Broom well quickly took a sipfrom her flying water bottle.

(01:29):
She looked a bit worried.
Mindy Broom.
Well gripped a kite stringattached to absolutely nothing.
Hello, starlings.
Molly called Terribly sorry tobother you, but we've got a bit
of a colorful conundrum.
It is a rainbow emergency.
Shouted Mindy.
Her eyes wide with panic nowholding the floating string with

(01:52):
two hands.
Ah, what said Freddy?
Still munching on his bananasandwich.
The rainbow got loose, quitemendy.
We were stitching it back intothe sky after the rain and it
zoomed off before I could finishthe last stitch.
Alice gasped it ran away.

(02:12):
It's very excitable.
Said Molly now dunking achocolate biscuit in a hovering
teacup.
I think it's trying to findsomewhere more fun to shine.
Mr.
Sniffer Tin sniffed.
The air spun in a circle andbarked once like a rainbow
detector.
Just then a whoosh of colorzipped under the garden gate.

(02:35):
A stripy blur of red, orange,yellow, green, blue, indigo, and
violet zigzagging like a scarfin the wind after it yelled
Freddy.
Woo woof, barked Mr.
Sniffer Tin Galloping as fast ashe could.
Mindy got her wand from herpurple cloak pocket time for the

(02:55):
rainbow roundup.
She flicked it and sparklystring burst into the sky only
to tie itself into a bow andland on Molly's chocolate
biscuit.
Oops, Mindy mushed.
That was my sock tying spell.
Alice pointed, it's heading tothe playground.

(03:16):
Off they went.
Alice and Freddy running.
Mr.
Sniffer and bouncing and thebroom.
Whale sisters zooming above inbroom tails of crumbs at the
playground, the rainbow wasgoing bananas.
It zipped down.
The slide wrapped itself aroundthe monkey bars and left
colorful stripes on everything.
It touched Molly hoveredoverhead.

(03:38):
It is having fun, but it'll soonget tired if it keeps going like
this.
Will need to calm it down.
Rainbows love calming songs.
Freddy, can you hum somethingsoft and relaxing.
Freddy blinked and like this.
He hummed a song he just made upabout jellyfish wearing
slippers.

(03:58):
Alice danced around theplayground like a floppy pancake
trying to look relaxing.
The rainbow slowed.
It wobbled and it paused on thetop of the slide like it was
listening to Freddy's Zung.
That's it.
Molly whispered.
A little more calm then Mr.
Sniffer tin barked really,really loud and zing the

(04:21):
rainbow.
Got a fright and zoomed awaystraight towards the duck pond.
Quick yell, Dallas.
It's going to strip fight theducks.
Mr.
Sniffer and skidded across thegrass barking with purpose.
Mindy, tried to lasso therainbow with magic string, but
caught a duck Instead, the duckturned every color of the

(04:42):
rainbow and looked veryconfused.
Molly still calmly sipping hertea.
Blinked will fix the duck.
Later at the pond, the rainbowswirled in loop.
The loops Curious Fish poppedout to see what all the fuss was
about.
It is creating rainbow ripples.
Molly warned, if we don't stopit, the pond will turn to

(05:04):
rainbow soup.
Freddy tugged her sleeve.
Can we make it a home?
Maybe it's lonely in the sky.
Mindy gasped.
Freddy.
That's brilliant.
Alice added it.
Needs a rainbow playground.
Molly beamed.
Well said.
They sprang into action.
Mindy tossed everyone a piece ofchalk.

(05:26):
Allison Freddy drew a hopscotchon the ground.
Molly drew a slide in the earwith chalk and before their
eyes, it turned into a realslide there, a rainbow rest stop
made with care she declared.
The rainbow zipped over pausedwiggled and curled up on the
hopscotch.
Drawing it let out a soft sigh.

(05:49):
Very pleased with itself.
Everyone cheered.
You did it.
Molly beamed a perfect place forrunaway colors.
Now I think we've earned a goodpicnic, mindy handed out jam
tarts from a large golden tinrainbow friendly snacks.
Mr.
Sniffer gently licked therainbow and settled next to it

(06:10):
with a satisfied wolf.
Freddie asked, do you thinkit'll stay only until the next
rain?
Said Molly.
Rainbows always come and go, butnow it knows it's welcome Here
on the ground with us, the sunsuddenly peaked out from behind
a cloud.
Best gray day ever.

(06:31):
Alice whispered just then.
Mum called from the back door.
Time to come in.
I've made rainbow cupcakes.
Alice giggled.
Do you think she knows?
No way said Freddy.
They both giggled and ran insideMr.
Sniffer tin bouncing happilybehind them.
