(00:02):
Where is Mindy?
It was a Saturday morning aftera busy week for the three
children, Harriet, James, andHazel.
All week long they had talkedabout nothing else but the
things they had seen inside themagical portal and the people
and animals they'd met.
(00:23):
They still had so many questionsthey wanted to ask, and they all
wanted to go on anotheradventure as soon as possible.
They had knocked on the sheddoor every afternoon since their
last adventure, hoping thebadger doorkeeper, Mr.
Cobble Twig would open it again, but he hadn't, there seemed to
be nobody home all week.
(00:45):
Where had he gone?
All they found was an ordinarydoor with a rusted doorknob and
an ordinary, crooked gardenshed.
Still, something about todayfelt different.
Their tummies felt fizzy withthe type of anticipation that
only comes when there might be anew adventure nearby.
(01:09):
It was pouring with rainoutside.
It dripped down the windows, andhuge puddles were forming in the
back garden.
Dad did look pretty puzzled whenHarriet James and Hazel appeared
to be so unbelievably excited tobe putting on Welly boots
raincoats, and heading off intothe back garden under a dark
(01:30):
gray sky.
Nothing would put them offtrying the door again.
Off they went.
Their boots splashed the watereverywhere.
As they made their way down thewinding path to the very end of
the garden where the littlewooden shed leaned, sleepily to
one side, the three childrenstood in front of the door in a
(01:51):
little row.
The nervous excitement was toomuch to bear.
James and Hazel looked up atHarriet as if waiting for her to
do something.
She was the oldest and usuallyknew what to do.
Well go on then, said James toHarriet, giving her a gentle
(02:12):
nudge with his elbow, please doit.
So after a moment, Harriet did.
Three clear knocks on thecrooked door.
They waited but heard nothing.
Then click around.
(02:33):
Peephole slid open in the middleof the door, just as before.
Two twinkling eyes framed byspectacles.
Peered out.
Ah, if it isn't Harriet, Jamesand Hazel, a familiar voice rang
out from behind the door.
The children were so excited tosee that Mr.
Cobb Twig was home.
(02:56):
Tap, tap, tap, rain on yourhead.
Magic is waiting right here inthe shed.
Mr.
Copel Twig announced Thechildren looked down and saw
that the doorknob was now shinyand golden.
Harriet grabbed the doorknob andturned it confidently to the
left.
(03:18):
The door creaked open and therestood Mr.
Cobbled wig.
The badger in his buttonedwaistcoat, holding an umbrella
over his head.
Mind the puddles Dreadfulweather.
They stepped inside shaking offthe damp.
The waiting room was just asthey remembered, rugs layered on
the floor, shelves stuffed withbooks, tables stacked full of
(03:42):
interesting objects andornaments.
Except today, a booklet sat inthe middle of the cozy room
beside Mr.
Cobbled wigs favorite chair, catching a steady flow of water,
pouring in from the ceiling.
Your roof is leaking, saidlittle Hazel.
Mr.
Twig gave a sigh.
(04:02):
Indeed, it is.
I've tried everything to fix itmyself, but nothing has worked.
I need to ask Mindy Bromwell forhelp.
She can fix anything.
She's extremely busy, though, always hopping from place to
place.
She's known far and wide, sothere's always something to fix
for somebody.
(04:23):
He handed each of them asteaming cup of lemon tea and
settled into his squishy chair, avoiding the soggy bit.
The four chatted happily for afew minutes.
The badger didn't mention wherehe had been all week and before
the children could ask him, hegot to his feet again.
He led Harriet James and Hazelto the long purple velvet
(04:44):
curtain at the back of thewaiting room, which they
remembered was to cover themagic portal.
The badger pulled it aside withone of his furry paws.
The children were nervous and soexcited they could burst.
Everything looked blurry behindthe curtain, on the count of
(05:05):
three, they all stepped throughtogether, the children holding
onto each other's hands verytightly.
Suddenly the world in front ofthem changed and they could see
clearly again.
They were standing in front of abeautiful white cottage.
The garden was filled withbrightly colored roses.
Wind chimes were hanging fromtree branches.
(05:27):
The breeze blew through thegarden and they made delicate
music.
Where are we?
Whisper James.
This is Tango Wim Hollow, or tobe more precise, this is the
home of Mindy Bromwell said, Mr.
Cobbled wig, let's see if she'shome, shall we?
(05:47):
He walked up to the front doorand rang the silver bell that
hung there.
They waited no answer.
Hmm.
This is a puzzle.
Said Mr.
Co twig scratching his badgerhead.
Okay.
Not to worry.
He decided and took out a smallpiece of brown parchment and a
pen from his waistcoat pocket.
(06:08):
He wrote in very neat writing.
Dear Mendy, rain pouring in.
Can you help Mr.
Cobbled wig?
The was very small, so not muchelse could be written even if
the badger had wanted to explainfurther.
He slid the parchment under thecottage door turned swiftly and
(06:30):
off.
He sat down the garden path.
The children followed closelybehind him.
One more place to try before itstee time again.
The badger announced he led thechildren to the purple curtain,
which was now hanging from atree outside Mindy's Garden.
Everyone ready?
He asked.
The children all noddedenthusiastically.
(06:54):
Mr.
Cobble Twig pushed the curtainto one side revealing a blurry
scene.
They all counted a threetogether this time and took a
giant step forward.
Through the portal.
Molly cried.
Little Hazel.
Standing right there in front ofthe mall was Molly Broom.
Well, she was Mandy's oldersister and the kindest witch
(07:17):
anyone could imagine.
She was standing beside herfloating broom, her blue cloak
billowing in the breeze, and hertall witches hat slightly tilted
to one side as starlings.
I've been expecting you, Mollybeamed at the mall.
I see you're looking for mendy.
She's not home.
(07:38):
As you quite discovered she mustbe off fixing an enchantment
gone wrong, a pixie trick gonebackwards or some other mishap.
No doubt I simply could not haveyou visit Tango Whim Hollow
without being offered a nice cupof tea.
It simply would not do.
(07:59):
Before Harriet, James and Hazelcould take another breath.
Molly had flicked her wand inthe air down, flew a picnic
blanket from thin air, andneatly arranged itself on the
grass.
In front of their astonishedfaces, well do sit, sit.
She invited them all as a largepicnic basket, unloaded itself
from her broom and flew downlanding with a thud in the
(08:22):
middle of the blanket.
The children's mouths droppedopen as a parade of picnic
treats, twirled and glided outtathe basket, one by one
sandwiches, cut into littletriangles, toffee apples, cakes,
and many other things thatchildren couldn't even name if
they'd wanted to.
(08:43):
They all waited for the teapotto finish pouring a hot cup of
tea for everyone.
Molly smiled in.
Thanks and winked at the teapot.
Now, for goodness sake, pleaseall help yourselves just as they
were spreading thick jam ontheir scones, the picnic blanket
gave a gentle rustle, and beforeanyone could say a word, it rose
(09:05):
smoothly into the air.
Lifting them all right off theground.
Opened up.
They went higher than the headrows until they could all see
Tango Whim hollow below them.
There were winding paths throughdark woods and puffs of chimney
smoke curled from littlecottages.
The children couldn't believetheir eyes.
(09:28):
They sat and joined the View forquite a while while they ate
lunch.
There was no sign of Mendyanywhere in Tangle Whim Hollow,
The blanket then gave a gentlesigh and began to float slowly
downwards until finally landingback on the grass.
Well, thank you very much forthe surprise picnic said Mr.
(09:51):
Copel twig to Molly.
As they all walked towards thepurple curtain, the badger
pulled the curtain aside so heand the children could step
through once more.
They instantly arrived backinside the cozy waiting room.
They could once again hear therain pouring down on the roof
outside.
Look.
Said James.
(10:11):
Running over to a round woodentable there sat a small piece of
parchment that read.
Sorry I missed you.
Got your note.
Leak fixed, have to run.
To see a goblin about a wonkydisguised charm, mendy, Not a
single drip remained almost asif the bucket and the leak had
(10:32):
never been there at all.
Mr.
Cobbled twig, beamed, splendidwork.
All of you, the world feelsbrighter and drier.
All of a sudden.
Back in the garden, the childrenwaved goodbye to the badger.
The rain had not eased, so theyran all the way up the stone
path.
Their boots splashed in everypuddle, but they didn't mind.
(10:57):
They could see their dad wavingat them from the kitchen window.
They'd only been gone for fiveminutes or so.
He thought the end.
