Sara Dewar (Leading to Change) is in conversation with Gordon Paterson about his role as Director of Social Care for NHS Education for Scotland. They talk about Gordon’s career, how he still sees himself as a Social Worker first, who inspired him, being guided by values rather than a specific leadership approach, tough leadership moments, and what he would like to see change in our system.
Leadership ideas and themes include understanding your core purpose and identity, values over leadership approaches and the work of Stephen Covey - Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and Stephen M Covey, Trust and Inspire. Themes also discussed are purpose, values, social activism and leadership and how these can come together in who we work for and with, and how we show up.
Our purpose is to provide an opportunity to hear from leaders across our wider system and to remind us that there is more that connects us than divides us as we are all human.
