I came from a very wealthyfamily that began with
absolutely nothing.
Until my father started his ownconstruction company.
I was the only girl, and Iadmit, I was spoiled, rotten.
Even when my family couldn'tafford it, they made it happen

Then I had everything I everwanted or needed.
I would ask for things I didn'tneed just to see if I'd get it.
I would.
Growing up, there was nothing Ididn't have.
If I wanted it, I got it.

I met a guy two towns over thatconvinced me that my family

And that they only bought methings to mask their hate for

Deep down inside, I knew thatthey loved me.
But this guy was fine as hell.

And go back home because heowned me now.

He had me do things to try andruin my family's lives.
He had me lie on them to thepolice, go back when I knew they
weren't home and steal from themanything that he could sell.
It didn't work.
They thrived without me.
Yet they never stopped lookingfor me.

They always searched for me.
They'd hire countless privatedetectives, spoke with my old
friends.
They did everything to find me.
While I hid in plain sight.
When I heard they were missingme and crying over me, I
laughed.
I changed towns and phonenumbers constantly.

I was arrested, sexuallyassaulted, beat up and
contracted sexually transmitteddiseases.
I was kidnapped and tortured.
Whatever you can think of thatcould happen to a woman on the
blade happened to me.
But they still wanted theirlittle girl back home.
A few years after I had lefthome, I heard my father was

killed while searching for me.
He was at the wrong place at thewrong time looking for me.
Sad thing is, back then I reallythought that serves him right.
I still believe the way that mylife turned out was all his
fault.
I never even got to say goodbyeor tell him that I loved him.

Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary.
