“Your thoughts matter. Drop a line and share your reflections.”

Hockey Christian Parallels – Spiritual Warfare on Ice takes life’s spiritual struggles—fear, temptation, and discouragement—and places them in a high-stakes faceoff on the rink. Inspired by Scripture and timeless allegories like Pilgrim’s Progress, the series transforms destructive forces like Fear, Condemnation, Gluttony, and Depression into rival players battling against God’s team: Faith, Love, Joy, Forgiveness, Restraint, and Boldness. These aren’t just character traits—they’re spiritual weapons for victory.

📣 Each episode delivers locker room wisdom and play-by-play inspiration. Watch Boldness slam into Fear, Joy outskate Depression, and Righteousness shut down Condemnation’s final push. The action captures the daily spiritual warfare that believers know all too well.

🦁 This isn’t just storytelling—it’s a call to get off the bench and into the spiritual game. As Proverbs 28:1 declares, “The righteous are as bold as a lion.” It takes grit, faith, and God-led courage to claim the win. So lace up, grab your gear, and charge forward in pursuit of the divine goal line.

SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
qualities or characters characteristics of

(00:07):
spiritual forces we could say itthat way kind of bring them to
life where uh fear things likespirit of fear or condemnation
or misery or other otherdestructive forces won't just be
ideas anymore but they'll taketo the ice as players they'll

(00:32):
take to the ice as players withreal personalities and
strategies trying to dominatethe game and but they won't go
unchallenged because on thepositive side we're going to
have god-given qualities likeface, boldness, love, joy,

(00:54):
forgiveness, and others, wherethey'll all step out onto the
rink.
It's somewhat similar to theJohn Bunyan story, Pilgrim's
Progress, where characteristicsof ways of thinking uh took on a

(01:21):
on a on a life and uh my goal isfor you the reader to see
yourself in these characters andyou may find you have certain
qualities of all the charactersin you but when you when you see
them playing out on what we sayusing hockey as an analogy see

(01:43):
them playing out their play onthe ice i think you might find
it well bring an inspiration andan insight, like perhaps that
might strike home more closelyfor you to see how everything

(02:03):
relates to your life in realterms.
I want you to feel the momentumshift you're going to see where,
you know, things like where joybreaks through depression or
where boldness spirit of Godboldness anointed levels fear in

(02:24):
or many other aspects we'llwe'll get into as well it'd be
like a mirror or a playbook anda call to action so Lace up your
spiritual skates if you wanna,if I could put it that way.
Let's lace up our skates.

(02:47):
Make sure our equipment is onsecure and let the game begin,
okay?

(03:29):
off here we're going to have umthe spirit of fear and we're
going to say that he is thecaptain he's like the captain of
the devilish players on on theice and again envision that
they're all hockey players goingagainst god's good team and they

(03:51):
all have different names of whattheir their characteristics are
but uh this is the devilishplayer spirit of fear and he's
speaking in the dressing roombefore the game to the people on
to the forces on his team andhere's his here's his uh little

(04:13):
speech here okay listen up allof you tonight is not about
skill we really don't have any imean jesus he already defeated
us but they don't know that orThey act like that's not always
true.
Our job is to deceive them, toconvince them that it's not

(04:36):
true.
And with some, it's not too hardto do.
What we have is control.
We have manipulation.
We need to get into their headsbefore the puck drops.
Condemnation?

(04:56):
Player condemnation, let me tellyou.
I want you, here's yourassignment.
I want you to remind them ofevery mistake they've ever made.
Whisper it until theirconfidence crumbles.
Player misery, I want you toskate heavy.
Fill the air with cold, grayhopelessness.

(05:24):
Player passivity.
Make them drift.
Even if one of them lets theopportunity slip by, we will win
and grind them into the ice.
Make them feel that nothing theydo can succeed.

(05:50):
And make them take away theirfight from them.
Player gluttony, you have aplace to play here.
You can slow them down.
Tempt them with overindulgenceand with distractions.

(06:11):
Player torment, right afterthem, after every mistake, make
them dread the next shift.
Let them think it's their ownmind turning against them.
Whatever you do, don't leave theimpression that this is a wrong
spirit that's tormenting them.

(06:32):
But let their own minds deceivethem.
You just keep putting in somedoubt and make them feel bad all
the time.
That's the main thing you gottado.
Make them feel bad all the time.
Get their mind off theirredemption they have in Christ.
through the blood of Jesus.

(06:52):
Get their mind off of that.
Player envy.
You keep them comparing eachother to themselves.
Focus on what others have andstirring up resentment in them.
Now, player doubt.
You make them question everychoice.

(07:14):
Keep them unstable.
And pride.
Inflate their egos.
Make them...
death to correction.
Let them think they really don'tneed God or prayer, you know,
that they've got this on theirown.
And me, well, I'm the spirit offear.

(07:34):
And I move with the coach, thedevil here.
But I'm everywhere out there onthe ice and I'll try to be.
I'll put dread in them whereverI find them.
don't hardly need to touch themthough that's one i'm one of the
best scorers on this team as youknow because most of the time

(07:55):
fear alone defeats them theyembrace fear over faith a great
many of them will because theydon't have confidence in the in
the love of god but they shouldum but listen hope is our enemy
and light is too and if The goodplayer joy ever gets loose, the

(08:18):
joy of the Lord.
If he gets loose out there, youshut him down fast.
You know, you smother him.
The joy of the Lord is theirstrengths.
And if they grab hold on to thatjoy, if they'll start standing,
then they'll stop quitting.
Now, keep in mind, that'sdangerous to us.

(08:40):
So...
We are the shadows that theycan't shake, the voices that
they can't silence.
That's how you need to believeabout our efforts here, that we
will succeed.
So let's get out there on theice and let's make them fear the
game, the game of life.

(09:03):
You know, they really can'tachieve anything.
It's just poor old them.
And they're like orphans outthere.
Let's make them afraid to liveboldly.
Let's taunt them, let's hauntthem.
And if any of them dares tostand tall, we'll take their
number and we'll make them wishthey hadn't.
So let's go.

(09:24):
The ice is waiting.
Okay, so we'll...
go to another player here, and Itrust that you enjoyed that
concept.
Sometime when you see ourenemies played out as if they

(09:48):
were real players, it gives youa graphic.
It gives you a picture that'sworth more than a thousand words
sometimes.
Okay, now let's do this.
We're going to hear I want youto hear a conversation that good
player on God's team, goodplayer whose name is Boldness,

(10:13):
that he encouraged his team,God's team, before the game
started.
Okay.
Suddenly the door opened and inwalked Boldness into the
dressing room He stood tall, shoulders squared, eyes steady

(10:36):
like a fire that wouldn'tflicker.
Isn't that good to be like afire that doesn't flicker in our
Christian commitment to God?

UNKNOWN (10:46):
Anyways, the room lifted their heads.

SPEAKER_00 (10:50):
Listen up, boldness said, voice ringing like a
trumpet blast.
I know who's been waiting on theother side of that tunnel.
So do you.
We've seen their tricks.
We've heard their trash talk.
They like to skate fast.
They like to hit hard and twistlines.

UNKNOWN (11:11):
But hear me now.
We weren't built to shrink back.

SPEAKER_00 (11:16):
We're going to cast down wrong imaginations and
heavy icing which exalts itselfagainst the knowledge of God.
They call me boldness for areason, not because I'm the
biggest or the fastest, butbecause I don't run.
And neither will you, not today, not ever.

(11:37):
A low murmur of agreementrippled through the room.
Boldness pointed to the lockerwall where a verse was painted,
the righteous are as bold as alion.
Proverbs 28, one.
That's who we are.
He declared, we're not likethem.

(11:58):
We're closed in righteousness, wrapped in the love of God and
filled with power from the HolySpirit.
That's what sets us apart.

UNKNOWN (12:10):
This isn't just a game.
It's a stand, a declaration.

SPEAKER_00 (12:14):
We represent the kingdom today.
And boldness, he looked at eachplayer in the eye and he said,
now listen, when fear comes, flies down the ice, you skate
straight at him.
When condemnation starts hiswhispers, you shout the truths.
When darkness tries to blindsideyou, you shine brighter.

(12:38):
We don't skate with arrogance, but we skate with authority.
You know what they fear themost?
Boldness asks, grinning.
They fear the moment you stopdoubting who you are.
They fear the sound of a teamthat believes.
That's what they fear.

(12:58):
It's time to make the spirit offear have fear himself.
The team that roars with courageand skates with purpose, that's
us.
And we have Jesus.
We have his power and his lifeflowing through us.
Never forget that.

(13:20):
Boldness grabbed his helmet andslapped it on.
Now, today we don't tippy-toeout there on the rink of life,
on the spiritual ice.
No, we charge out shoulder toshoulder in unity, word and
spirit.
Let them come and let them giveit all they've got.
It won't be enough.

(13:41):
Just keep remembering that anddeclare that it won't be enough.
The greater one.
dwells in us and he's greaterthan any any problem we may face
we resist the devil and hisforces and they will flee from
us when we hit that ice everydemon out there that uh haunts

(14:10):
someone watching in the standsthey'll they'll feel the tremble
of our stride We skate not justfor ourselves, but for every
soul watching who needs to know.
You don't have to live afraid.
Then quieter boldness said, nowlet us make heaven proud today.

(14:34):
Let's skate like people whoknows they've already won, okay?
Let's not be whimpering.
Let's not be cowering down.
Let's keep a smile on our faith, whether you feel like it or not.
Embrace the word of God becauseof the blood, the blood of
Jesus.

(14:54):
It's made us just as if we'dnever sin.
And our Lord said, our Lord saidhe would never leave us nor
forsake us so that we may boldlysay, boldly say, Boldly, that's
my name, so that we may boldlysay, the Lord is my helper.

UNKNOWN (15:19):
Because of the precious blood of Jesus, because of the
cross, and because we belong tothe king.

SPEAKER_00 (15:25):
Say after me, we belong to the king.
Boldness turned and raised hisstick high.

UNKNOWN (15:34):
Let's do this.
The room erupted with energy.
Sticks hit the floor.

SPEAKER_00 (15:40):
Gloves slapped backs of other players and hearts
united with a holy fire.
And out they went, boldnessleading the charge.
So that was one other example ofgood players.

(16:02):
Boldness, encouraging, andinspiring his other good
players.
Let's get back to the game.
Let's go into the game here.
And let's see some of theseplayers playing against each

(16:23):
other in the first period.
Okay, the stadium lights blazedacross the ice as team, God's
team, jesus team took theirpositions against the notorious
devil team of darkness the fanscould feel the tension in the

(16:45):
air this was no ordinary matchand the first period was about
to begin now as center ice stoodface his eyes fixed on the go
ahead unwavering opposite himwas fear twitching and tense,
whispering delts toward thebench.

(17:07):
The puck dropped, phase one, theface off was a confident flick,
tapping it back to Diligence whonever slacked, even in warmups.
Diligence immediately got towork, you know, that's what
Diligence does.
Weaving between defenders withthe poise of someone who'd

(17:30):
practiced day and night Poor mantried to throw him off with
harsh slashes and angry snares, snarls, but diligence never
looked up, never panicked, justpressed forward with focus.
That's a good statement.
We need to press forward withfocus.

(17:54):
you know, follow Diligent'slead.
As Diligent crossed the blueline, he passed wide to Joy, who
skated with a brightness thatseemed to light up the arena
itself.
Joy's stick handling was likemusic, drawing the crowd into
rhythm.
Despair tried to slam him intothe boards, but Joy just

(18:17):
laughed.
And literally, and danced aroundhim was a spin.
Despair stumbled, weighed downby his own darkness, unable to
match joy's freedom.
Meanwhile, boldness was crashingthe net, fearless and loud.
He shouted encouragement to histeammates, even as condemnation

(18:40):
tried to shadow him.
Condemnation hurled guilt andregrets like pucks to the chest,
but boldness puffed up anddeclared, I'm being forgiven.
I am clean.
That's what we need to doboldly, folks.

(19:01):
Boldly declare what Jesus hasdone for us, whether your
natural mind may even feel likeit or not.
Boldness declarations echoedlike thunder, breaking
condemnation's momentum.
See, that's it, that's a goodthought.

(19:22):
Condemnation, you don't wantthat to gain any momentum in
your life or have any placewhatsoever.
Then came hope, skatinggracefully behind the play,
watching and anticipating.
He wasn't fast like boldness orflashy like joy, but his

(19:44):
presence kept everyone steady.
Whenever a player faltered, hopewas there whispering, we're not
finished, there's more ahead, beencouraged.
Despair tried to knock hope offhis balance, whispering lies
that it was all pointless.

(20:05):
But Hope gently smiled andwhispered back, not today.
Then Love took to the ice, player Love, and there was a
shift in the atmosphere.
His skating was smooth andpatient and powerful.
The devil's player hate camebarreling at him, but Love

(20:29):
absorbed the impact and keptgoing.
He didn't retaliate.
He didn't flinch.
He passed the puck back to facewith perfect timing.
Hate hissed and furious, butlove simply whispered, I never
fail.
The Bible says love never fails.

(20:50):
With the puck back on face stickand time ticking down in the
period, the crowd stood on itsfeet.
Spirit of fear from the devil'steam.
Fear tried one last time tointercept, lurching across the
ice to block the shot.
But Faith, without hesitation, snapped a clean wrist shot,

(21:12):
powered not just by confidence, but by deep trust in the one who
sent him.
The puck screamed past fear, past condemnation, past despair
and past a goaltender dealt whowas too unsure to react.
It was a goal.

(21:35):
The horn blared.
God's team had broken through.
Joy spun in circles and boldnessbanged a stick on the boards,
hope lifted his hands to the skyand Diligent simply nodded and
skated to the bench ready formore.
Faith gave credit to where itwas due, pointing upward to

(22:00):
Jesus and God with a smile.
On the other side, darknessseized, fear trembled harder,
and condemnation sat with hishead in his hands.
Despair lay slumped on thebench, and hate yelled and
slammed his stick, but the crowdwasn't listening.

(22:21):
because in that first period, the light had broken through and
it was only the beginning.
So I thought you might likethat.
We could call that a firstperiod play.
We'll maybe look at other playsup ahead.
Okay, now let's look at a goodplayer on God's team.

(22:50):
good player discipline, and he'splaying against the bad player
reckless, or the lack of, theopposite of discipline.
We'll call his name Reckless.
He's a player on the devil'sside.
And this is how they played onthe ice.

(23:13):
Okay, the puck dropped at centerice, and good player disciplined
skated toward with quietdetermination there was nothing
flashy about his play no wildrushes no over the top wrists
but every move discipline madewas calculated and with purpose

(23:35):
he knew when to push and when tohold back and how to play was in
the boundaries of the game planHis passes were sharp, his
defense was airtight.
He made the others around himsimply better by holding the
line.
Across from him was bad playerReckless from the Devils team.

(23:59):
Fast?
Yeah, he was fast and flashy, absolutely.
But predictable?
Not at all.
Reckless started across the icewith abandon, chasing every puck
like a dog chasing cars.
That's kind of a good analogy.
When you're reckless or you'rewithout discipline, you're like

(24:22):
a dog chasing cars.
You know, reckless,overcommitted, left his
position, ignored his coach'sinstruction, and tried to make
solo plays that left his teamexposed.
It was not long before he turnedthe puck over and Discipline
intercepted.

(24:43):
With a converse of speed,Discipline didn't just skate by
reckless or lack of discipline,he outclassed him.

UNKNOWN (24:54):
While reckless or lack of discipline flailed behind
him, gasping and frustrated, discipline remained steady,
focused and controlled.
That's what we need to be folksas Christians, right?
We need to be steady, focusedand controlled.

SPEAKER_00 (25:17):
He set up a perfect assist leading to a goal.
No glory grabbing celebration, just a nod and a glide back into
position.
After the whistle, reckless orlack of discipline slammed his
stick in frustration.
His energy was gone.
His choices had caught up withhim.

(25:38):
Discipline, on the other hand, never broke stride.
And Proverbs chapter 12, verseone says, whoever loves
discipline loves knowledge.
And on the ice, knowledge waspower.
from Proverbs 21, no, fromProverbs 12 verse one.

(26:23):
Okay, let's look at this.
Plays between four players.
Love and unity.
Playing against discord anddivision.
Okay, the puck dropped.
Love and unity moved in harmony.

(26:44):
Skating.
in a symphony in motion on theopposing side.
Discord and Division scrambled, yelling at each other, even as
they tried to coordinate.
Pass the puck, Discord.
Division barked.
Do it yourself, Discord snapped, chasing the puck on its own.

(27:06):
Their chaos worked against them.
Meanwhile, Unity deflected a hitand passed cleanly to Love.
Their connection was seamless.
No confusion, no ego, justtrust.
Love weaved through defenders, then dropped the puck back
without looking.

(27:26):
Unity was already there.
Goal.
They scored a goal.
The crowd erupted.
On the bench, Division slammedhis stick.
You are out of position.
Discord sneered.
Maybe if you weren't alwayssecond-guessing.
But on the other bench, Love andUnity bumped gloves quietly.

(27:48):
They didn't shout, they didn'tneed to.
Their strength was in oneness.
Back on the ice, Unity turned toplayer Love and said, let's keep
showing them.
Love smiled.
As Discord and Unity fell deeperinto strife, Love and Unity just

(28:09):
kept skating.
One purpose, one heart, oneunbreakable bond.

(28:51):
Okay, let's go to this one, thisplayer on the ice.
And this player on the ice, hisname is a good godly player on
God's team.
And his name is called Speak toYour Mountains.

(29:15):
That's the name of the player,Speak to Your Mountains.
Kind of a long name for aplayer.
But Jesus said in Mark 11, 23,whosoever shall say unto their
mountains, be thou removed andbe thou cast into the sea and
shall not doubt in their heart, but shall believe that those

(29:39):
things which he sayeth shallcome to pass.

UNKNOWN (29:42):
He shall have whatsoever he sayeth.

SPEAKER_00 (29:45):
So let's watch how speak to your mountains player.
performs on the ice.
Okay, the ice was crowded withtrouble, fear, condemnation,
doubt, and depression.
Skated aggressively, pushing thegood team back.

(30:07):
Players on the bench began toslump, weighed down by
discouragement.
That's when speak to yourmountains, jump the boards.
and came onto the ice.
He didn't hesitate.
Skating to center ice, speak toyour mountains, he planted his

(30:28):
stick and raised his voice andshouted, be removed and cast
into the sea.
The words echoed like thunder.
Fear stumbled.
Doubt lost control of the puck.
Condemnation wavered, grippinghis helmet.

(30:48):
depression backed up confused.
Speak to your mountains pointedat them one by one.
I am more than a conqueror.
No weapon formed against meshall prosper.
There is now no condemnation inme for I am in Christ Jesus and

(31:10):
the joy of the Lord is mystrength.
Each declaration was a strike.
Fear dropped to his knees.
Doubt collapsed.
Condemnation fell against theboards.
And depression slunk away likefog at sunrise.

(31:30):
The arena shifted.
Light flooded in.
The team on the bench stoodawakened.
Speak to your mountains turnedand shouted.
Don't whisper to your problems.
Speak to them.

UNKNOWN (31:45):
Command them to be removed.

SPEAKER_00 (31:47):
The word wins every time.
The scoreboard lit up.
Heaven's team was ahead again.
Now, as this play was happening, there was a...

(32:09):
the period was over and theywent for intermission and speak
to your mountains was in thelocker room and the dressing
room and he is given given therest of the players a little
talk about what they had justseen and speak to your mountains
said to all the other goodplayers he said with a voice

(32:31):
steady that that was a lesson hepointed to his chest this isn't
about hype it's about authorityjesus said whoever would speak
to his mountains be removed anddoesn't doubt it will be done
mark 11 23 you've got to say itevery day every moment you're

(32:55):
out there skating declare decreejoy peace and face nodded Don't
wait until you're down to speakup, he continued.
Start your day and start thegame declaring who you are in
Christ.
Say, I am the righteousness ofGod by the blood.

(33:16):
I walk in victory.
I overcome by the word of Godand the blood of the lamb.
Diligent scribbled notes, hopestood straighter.
Mountains don't move because youfeel strong.
They move because the word isstrong.

(33:36):
The mountains don't move becauseyou're strong.
They move because the word isstrong.
Speak it when you're weak andyou'll feel strengths arise.
Speak it in fear and fear willfall.
Speak to your mountain, stepback and smile.
The enemy wins when you staysilent.

(33:58):
But when you speak God's truth, darkness scatters.
The room erupted in cheers.
Well, praise God.
So I trust you're enjoying allthese players from God's team

(34:20):
going against the player of thedevil's team.
It kind of reminds me of...
Pilgrim's Progress, the sameidea.
Fictional characters going ontaking personality.
Look at another couple playershere.

(34:40):
A player from God's team calledLight.
Player Light against playerDarkness on the Devil's team.
Okay, the arena was fairlyquiet.
as this team skated on the ice.

(35:00):
On one side, cloaked in shadow, was the devilish player
Darkness, a towering presenceand sneering behind a black
visor.
Opposing him was good playerLight from God's kingdom.
and god's team clad in radiantwhite and gold skating with

(35:24):
quiet confidence as the puckdropped tension cracked like
lightning in the stands darknessmoved with deceit sneaky
intimidating throwing elbows ofdiscouragement and clouds of
confusion spectators felt achill whenever he passed This is

(35:46):
my ice, darkness crowd.
You don't belong here.
But light didn't flinch.
He glided with purpose, withpurity, and with power that
didn't come from muscle but fromtruce.
The light shines in thedarkness, he said, under his
breast.

(36:07):
And the darkness has notovercome it.
John 1, verse 5.
With every pass, light revealedwhat darkness tried to hide,
hope, courage, and truce.
The ice began to sparkle underhis skates, and every shot he
took echoed with words like, Iam the light of the world.

(36:30):
Whoever follows me will neverwalk in darkness, but he will
have the light of life.
John 8, 12.
Darkness...
tried to blindside him.
He rushed in for a crushing hit,but light dodged and delivered a
glowing check to the heart.

(36:52):
The collision sent darknessspinning into the boards.
The crowd gasped as shadows felloff like broken armor.
light raised to stick you areall the children of light and
children of the day we do notbelong to the night nor to the

(37:14):
darkness first thessalonians 5 5was one final blazing shot
fueled by faith and truce lightscored the puck tore tore
through the air like a bolt oflightning The goal horn roared.
Darkness slumped, defeated, shrinking back into the shadows.

(37:38):
Light skated a victory lap, hisbrilliance unshaken.
And as he passed by histeammates, he whispered, arise
and shine for your light hascome and the glory of the Lord
has risen upon you.
Light prevailed.

(38:01):
And the crowds shouted praisesand pushed darkness beyond the
rink.
So I trust you've enjoyed someof those sessions there.
And we'll pick up on, we'll pickup in the next part.

(38:26):
And we will continue down thisroad way of seeing how these
renowned characters attributesof the spirit and mind as they
play the as as they play outwhat what they would be doing on
the ice and it's it's very Whenyou see it in a graphic way, it

(38:55):
alerts us and it brings to ourmind that, look, we're the
masters of our fate in the sensethat we have Jesus.
And nobody can push us into aplace where we're not prepared

(39:18):
if we will stand on the word ofGod.
We do not need to have any fearagainst the devil.
And the kingdoms of this world, there's two kingdoms of light.
The kingdom of light and life ofour Father's dear Son, Jesus.

(39:46):
Praise God.
