In this interview, we had the privilege to interview Dr. Janis Nuckolls. Her research explores the rich cultural and linguistic practices of the Kichwa people in Ecuador, focusing on how language reflects their connection to nature and their environment. She specializes in studying ideophones (words that evoke sensory experiences) and grammatical features like evidentiality, which reveal unique perspectives and attitudes toward the world. Dr. Nuckolls has also authored the book: Lessons from a Quechua Strongwoman: Ideophony, Dialogue and Perspective, published by The University of Arizona Press.Contact us: lingolipe@gmail.comDr. Nuckolls: https://hum.byu.edu/directory/janis-nuckolls
