The Bystander Effect is a psychologically curious happening that has occurred throughout history and still today when people witnessing an emergency, crime, or person being harmed or in distress, do nothing to help or to help stop it. There are many documented occurrences where bystanders could have helped, but did not. One of the more famous cases is a murder that took place in 1964 in Queens, New York. The victim was young woman named Kitty Genovese. Here is the story of her murder.
