In this episode, Kelsey dives into the final center lecture with the G-center, which plays a unique and special role. The G-Center is the home of the Magnetic Monopole, which is moves us along our unique trajectory in life and operates based on resonance. Our mind is designed to be a passenger in the vehicle (our body) and the G-center acts as the driver of that vehicle.

We’ll look at how the G-center operates when defined versus undefined, how conditioning shapes our relationship with love and life direction. This episode is about learning to trust in your unique life direction, despite not knowing where exactly it is leading you.

What's Discussed in this Episode:

  • The G-Center as the source of love and life direction in the Bodygraph
  • Role of the Monopole in being the "driver" of our vehicle
  • Healthy expressions vs. not-self tendencies in both defined and undefined G-Center
  • Evolution of the Heart Chakra
  • Conditioning and how it distorts trust in life direction and purpose
  • Biological correspondence, connection to other centers, and circuitry
  • Connection between the gates in the G-Center and the Solstice and Equinox

Whether we're defined orundefined in the G, we don't need
to obsess over what ourtrajectory is. We're all going to
the same place. One way I sortof visualize the defined versus the
undefined G is that none of usreally know where we're going on
a mental level at all, regardless of G definition. But defined
GS I sort of visualize likeziplining where we're going. I can't

(00:21):
see where it is I'm going, butI'm going in this direction. I know
I'm going In this directionversus undefined GS are sort of just
like a leaf blowing in thewind. They might get taken over here
for a little while and thentaken over here for a little while.
There's no fixed trajectory, but in both cases we don't really
know where we're going.

(00:54):
Welcome to the Living YourDesign Podcast. I'm your experimentor
Kelsey Rose Tortorice. Thispodcast is an audio only release
of the full length, in depth,Human Design Foundations course I've
been teaching over the lastseveral years. It is a no bullshit,
comprehensive, embodiedintroduction to the human design
system that will challengeyour ego mind and support you in
your process of reuniting withthe unique wisdom of your body. In
episode one, I speak a bitabout the process that led me to
releasing this course for freein podcast form, and I offer a few

(01:16):
notes that might be useful tocontextualize and clarify what you'll
hear in this episode andbeyond. I recommend giving that short
intro episode a listen if youhaven't yet. The LYD podcast is part
of a larger living body ofwork, a growing archive of my teachings
about consciousness throughthe languages of astrology and human

(05:03):
And now we are gonna take alook at the final of the nine centers
in the body graph. The Gcenter is a very special center.
It operates in a way that isvery unique to it. Its functionality
is completely different thanAny of the other centers. The G center,
or sometimes referred to asthe self center, is the identity

(05:25):
center of the body graph. Sothis is not an awareness center,
it's an identity center.Pointing that out because we are
studying it in the awarenesscenter unit, it feels if it was going
to be closest to a pressure ormotor or an awareness center, I would
say it's probably closest toan awareness center. But it is a
different function. So I wantto make sure to make that distinction.

(05:47):
The G center or self center orthe singular identity center of the
body graph deals with oursense of self direction in life and
love. And it's based onresonance. I've heard people use
the word resonance to talkabout the G center before, but I'm
not sure that people stress itas much as I have come to in my own

(06:08):
practice of articulating andteaching the G center. The G center
shows us what resonates withus. And through that resonance we
are pulled in a certaindirection. So that's where the sense
of direction and trajectory inthe G center come from. Through that
resonance we experience love.We love what resonates with us. And

(06:32):
through that resonance andlove, we develop a sense of self,
we develop an identity. The Gcenter is the location of what in
human design we call themagnetic monopole, which is the force
that holds together ourpersonality and our design and drives
our trajectory through spaceand time. So if you remember from

(06:52):
the introduction to the bodygraph, I did a very brief overview
of how we can have reddefinition or black definition in
our design. The blackdefinition comes from our moment
of birth. The planetarypositions in the gates at the moment
of our birth. It's ourastrological natal chart. For those
of us familiar with that, it'sblack in our design. It's called

(07:13):
personality or sometimesreferred to as what's conscious.
And then we also have ourdesign definition, which are the
planetary positions in Gates.88 days, 88 degrees of the sun before
we were born. It looks red inour body graph and it is referred
to as our design or sometimesthe form or the body or the unconscious.

(07:34):
And although we willconsciously orient to these different
parts of our definition indifferent ways, on an auric energetic
level, they are both presentand they are both non negotiable
aspects of our form. And themagnetic monopole is the force that
is said to hold together. Idon't know why I said said to. It's

(07:56):
because I don't have an. MyAJNA doesn't have a clear way of
orienting yet towards what Iswhat is this? I don't have any way
of scientifically telling youwhat it is, although there's a lot
of depth to Ra's teaching ofcosmology and human design. So there
probably are some answersaround that for people who want to
dig deep. But I want to kindof walk back. Having said it is said

(08:18):
that I want to approach itfrom. Part of what Ra received when
he received the knowledge ofhuman design is that we all have
this force in our G centercalled the magnetic monopole, which
is what maintains theconnection of these two versions
of definition that cometogether in their composite, make
us who we are as a form, anddrives our trajectory through space

(08:41):
and time. So what's happeningin the G center is that we are, we're
literally pulled from thatcomposite, that connective force
between the personality anddesign in the exact right directions
to be in the right time andplaces for all of the right initiations
or responses or urges orinitiations, regardless of our types,

(09:02):
strategy, that are correct forus, that are correct for our trajectory
in life as passengers. Forpeople who have a defined G, you
have a consistent sense ofself, a fixed sense of who you are,
where you're going and whatyou love. And all of that comes from
a consistent resonance. Andthe G is right in the center of the

(09:23):
body graph. It's where manywould consider the heart to be the
ego in the body graph. Ifyou're looking at the body graph,
it's just to the right andbelow the G and the ego center is
the center that we sometimesname the heart center. But I said
this earlier on in unit one ortwo, and I want to reiterate that
my understanding is that whenwe mutated from seven centered to

(09:44):
nine centered beings, what isknown as the heart chakra in the
seven centered system splitinto these two different functionalities,
one being the ego, which we dorefer to as the heart, which is the
part of the heart that isabout, you know, putting your heart
in it, getting your wholeheart in something that willpower,
the Leo orientation towardsheart energy, the will, Right. But

(10:08):
then there's also the Gcenter, which I kind of associate
more with mostly Pisces and alittle bit Libra. This orientation
towards love, what I love, what feels like love to me. So I
do see elements of like thetraditional heart chakra in both.
Although when we, when we sayheart, most people are referring
to the ego center. Although I,I have more and more lately started

(10:31):
to hear people refer toaspects of heart in both the G and
the ego. So when we're talkingabout heart for the G, we're talking
about the concept of love, which I have come to understand as
how we orient to whatresonates with us. And that resonance
then pulls us on ourtrajectory, pulls us on our path,

(10:52):
so we move towards that whichwe love, that which resonates with
us. And when you have adefined G, you have consistency in
regards to that which you loveand that which resonates in your
body as love, that which youenjoy the resonance of. And so because
you have a consistency withinwhat types of things resonate with

(11:12):
you and you love, you start tobuild a sense of identity, a sense
of self, around that fixicityof what types of things feel like
love and resonate with you. Sothe fixed sense of who you are, as
well as the fixed sense ofwhere you're going, the direction
you're heading in, and whatyou love all come from this consistency

(11:32):
of resonance, from themagnetic monopole, which is the composite,
the holding together of allthese parts of yourself, all of your
different definition. Sopeople with a defined G, then, have
not only a specific sense ofself and identity, a sense of who
they are and the directionthey're moving in their life, but
also a specific and consistentflavor of personality that others

(11:56):
register. People know theresonance that is Kelsey. My defined
G, my flavor, my personalityflavor. Awareness of this fixed sense
of self can differ based onwhether your definition in the G
is conscious or unconscious. So you might have a defined G that's
defined mostly or entirely inred in the unconscious. And you might
not be like, I totally knowwho I am, and that's fine. Your body,

(12:20):
your design, knows who youare. And if you watch it with passenger
consciousness, if you watch itwith a kind of unattached awareness,
you'll be able to see overtime. Ah, yes. I do tend to move
in the direction of blank. Ido tend to resonate and love this.
And I have sort of built asense of direction in life and identity
around that. With theundefined G, what you resonate with

(12:43):
what feels like love in yourheart, what you love will fluctuate
the types of things that drawyou towards them, that resonate with
you, that register as love inyour body will be different. I like
to think of the defined, theundefined or open GS, like having
the ability to find loveanywhere in anything, right? So there's

(13:06):
that sort of Piscean exaltedVenus vibe that I tend to associate
with the open or undefined G.And because of that openness, when
it comes to what resonates? What do I love? There is no fixed
sense of identity that is ableto be built and coalesced around
a fixed resonance. Resonanceis unfixed, pure potentiality. Therefore,

(13:30):
identity is also unfixed, andsense of direction or purpose or
trajectory in life are alsounfixed. With an undefined G, you
are designed to have afluctuating identity that changes
with the transits as well asbased on your environment and who
you are with. The undefined Gis very sensitive to their environment
because while the undefined Gcan resonate with anything as love,

(13:52):
its sense of resonance andlove is determined on what is around
me right now that I'm able toresonate with. And so when an undefined
G is in an unhealthyenvironment, there can be a real
sensitivity to a discomfortwith that because there's maybe not
anything that actually feelslike love. And so now that sense

(14:13):
of love and resonance anddirection is gone. The identity that
undefined G people have isalso very often a mirror to those
around them. This is where Isee some of the, like my, my association
I make with the undefined Gand Libra coming in because Libra
is. Is so oriented inbalancing and mirroring and wanting
to relate to whatever it'sfacing. That's what happens in the

(14:37):
undefined G. There's not afixed flavor personality. There's
many flavors of personalitybased on who you're with, the transits,
but also who you're with. Soyou will sort of take on and reflect
back a certain set ofpersonality traits and mannerisms
and flavors with the differentpeople in your life as individuals,
as well as with the differentgroups of people in your life, the

(15:00):
different communities ofpeople in your life. The undefined
G can see clearly and amplifythe identity of others. You know
the truth of them when they'rein alignment, and you can feel the
distortion of them whenthey're not. So again, sensitive
to other people's sense ofself and trajectory and how those
things fill the environmentsthat you're in. Many possible flavors

(15:22):
of personality, highsensitivity to environments. Certain
places will feel good to you, others will not. The undefined G
may not have an easy timeidentifying their preferences as
they're not naturally fixed. When I was first learning about the
undefined G, this always stuckwith me. Again, my teacher, Amy Lee
of the Human DesignCollective, referenced like for the
undefined G. Having to dothings like write a bio or fill out

(15:45):
a dating online dating profilecan feel like, so challenging. Because
how can I sum up this like, everythingness that is who I am.
And so the not self of theundefined G will identify that as
a problem. It's a problem thatI can't locate succinctly my preferences,
my identity, that I am achameleon. They'll make it a problem

(16:06):
that they tend to changepersonality texture based on who
they are with and where theyare. But that's what's correct for
them. There is no naturalfixity to identity, to preferences,
to personality. For theundefined G, it's good to get to
practice getting comfortablewithout a fixed sense of direction
and identity, and to remainopen to many directions and many

(16:28):
ideas of who am I? One of myother teachers, Alok Diaz, talks
about how like, okay, weeither have a fixed trajectory with
a defined G or an unfixed, kind of like all over the place trajectory
with an undefined G. Buteither way, the trajectory ends in
death. Despite the preferencesof the spleen center, we all will

(16:48):
die. And so we don't need toobsess whether we're defined or undefined
in the G. We don't need toobsess over what our trajectory is.
We're all going to the sameplace. One way I sort of visualize
the defined versus theundefined G is that none of us really
know where we're going on amental level at all, regardless of
G definition. But defined GS Isort of visualize like ziplining,

(17:11):
where we're going. I can't seewhere it is I'm going, but I'm going
in this direction. Direction.I know I'm going in this direction.
Versus undefined GS are sortof just like a leaf blowing in the
wind. They might get takenover here for a little while and
then taken over here for alittle while. There's no fixed trajectory,
but in both cases we don'treally know where we're going. I'll

(17:32):
share my own sort oforientation to it through my own
experience is I had no ideathat I would be into the esoteric
realm, into astrology, intoyoga, into spirituality, into human
design. Right until the momentthat I was drawn to these things.
There was absolutely nopreconceived mental awareness that

(17:54):
I would be into these things. However, I have always been a teacher.
I have always been someone whowants to share and synthesize what
I'm learning immediately withothers. I have always been very interested
in like, understanding theself and understanding the self in
relation to others, andunderstanding relationship and autonomy

(18:17):
and interdependence dependenceand the patterns and frequency of
Things like, for instance, Iwas a music teacher. I was very into
community through musicmaking, through choirs my whole life.
Growing up, I studied musiceducation. I became a teacher as
those things started to fallaway at my sacral burnout. I didn't

(18:37):
know where I was going next. But now I can look back and see like
community has remained animportant component of what I do.
I've always resonated with theidea of how we come together and
how we come apart, with theidea of pattern frequency that we
see in music, astrology, humandesign, with the teaching. Right.
So I don't, I still don't knowwhere I'm going or what I'm going

(18:58):
to be doing with my life in afew months, definitely not a few
years. But I can sense thissort of direction that I've always
been moving in. And that's mydefined G having a fixed sense of
like interests and identitiesaround that interest in way of tuning
in with love as it registersin my body and moving towards that

(19:19):
which I love. For theundefined G, you know, my life has
taken many turns and theundefined GS life will take many
terms as well, but there willjust not be as much consistency,
most likely in regards to thedirection they moved, that I can
kind of in retrospect identifyin my own trajectory. For the defined

(19:40):
G in a healthy state, there'sa fixed nature to what you love and
how you love. And you have aconsistent specific direction in
life based on those loves andpreferences. In a healthy state,
the defined G can serve as thedirectional driver for others too
based on these fixedpreferences in love. So you might
be the person in yourrelationship, whether it's a one

(20:00):
on one relationship or a groupin a relationship of any nature,
who kind of provides the senseof direction for the group or the
relationship if the otherperson has an undefined G. But of
course they'll need to filterthat through their own strategy and
authority. A healthy defined Gtrusts and observes that following
their strategy and authoritywill align them with the correct
direction in life and keepthem connected with that which they

(20:22):
love. Healthy defined Gunderstands they're not the ones
doing it on an ego mind place. They are just being moved by surrendering
to the process of being pulledtowards that which they love. A defined
G in a not self stateexperiences conditioning from other
centers, especially the mind, attempting to interfere with that
natural direction. So tryingto strategize, to think steps ahead,

(20:47):
to know what the right orwrong decision is, rather than just
allowing themselves to bepulled in the Direction of what they're
called towards, in thedirection of what resonates. A not
self defined G will initiatenew directions, new love and identity
traits from the mind, ratherthan following the natural trajectory
through the resonance of theirheart, through what they love. And

(21:08):
a defined G in a not selfstate will also pressure or expect
others to follow theirdirection or to maintain their own
fixed identity or direction. So a defined G might take for granted
the fixity of their sense ofself, of their personality. And that
might manifest as themassuming that someone whose personality

(21:29):
tends to fluctuate much more, someone who takes on different characteristics
in different settings withdifferent people, defined G might
look at that and consider itto be inauthentic. But actually it
would be inauthentic for theundefined G to try to fixate on any
one aspect of their verymultidimensional, always changing,
chameleon sort of identity. Adefined G might pressure someone

(21:52):
else to stick with a certaintype of interest, rather than allow
or encourage an undefined G toallow their openness to all sorts
of different interests and avery nonlinear trajectory within
those things. A healthy, undefined G is open to all possibilities
for the direction of theirlives. They allow themselves to be

(22:12):
this leaf and to be blown bythe wind. And they're comfortable
with the changing ofdirection. They're comfortable with
having gone in this directionfor a while when it felt really good,
and then allowing that to goand not creating any mental narratives
about was it a waste of time, was it untrue, it was true and it
was exactly the thing that washappening when it was happening.

(22:33):
And now you're gonna let go ofthat in order to be blown by the
breeze into a differentdirection, which is just as true
and just as valuable. Ahealthy undefined G is able to resonate
with many forms of and vesselsfor love. A healthy undefined G is
comfortable without a fixedidentity allows the personality and
preferences to shift based oncorrect interpersonal and transit

(22:56):
conditioning that happenscorrectly, mechanically, correctly,
through your strategy andauthority. And a healthy undefined
G uses strategy and authorityto navigate the fluctuating sense
of direction and identity. Ahealthy undefined G recognizes that
they are a mirror for othersidentities. They can see who is being
themselves in the world andwho is not. So again, there's sensitivity

(23:19):
to whether someone isembodying the truth of their expression
in their self or trying todistort who they are based on their
not self conditioning andtheir not self mind. And the G that
sensitivity to environment, part of what that is is being very
Sensitive to environmentswhere people are not in truth, where

(23:40):
there's more not self thanthere is self and truth. The undefined
G in a healthy state is goingto remain in touch with their comfort
and health in relation totheir environment, so is going to
be able to be honest withthemselves if and when their environment
is not feeling good. So thinkabout like the potential for an undefined
G and an undefined spleentogether to really corroborate in

(24:03):
this process of sabotagingsomebody's need to be spontaneous
and move and change direction.Even though to the not self mind
it can be scary to let go of adirection or a source of security
and safety. An undefined geneand a not self state is going to
obsess over looking for love.Where can I find the next hit of

(24:24):
love and resonance in myheart, since it's not consistent
in my own form? Will obsessover finding a direction or a purpose
in life, attempts to fixate orsustain personality traits, interests,
communities, beliefs, anythingthat they can identify with. Because
there isn't this comfort inthe unfixed identity in the fluctuating

(24:44):
direction. And a not selfundefined G is always looking for
a role that they can play. Andsometimes that ends up manifesting
as the undefined G person.Repeating roles in characters that
their mind is like, you can dothis one, you're identifying with
this one, fixate on this one.And then limiting themselves to those
roles rather than allowing forthe openness. So feeling like they

(25:07):
always need to be thecaretaker or the teacher or the rebel,
you know, whatever archetypalrole, that's just a coping mechanism
for not being comfortable withthe natural fluctuation of identity
and roles that undefined GSare designed for. The main not self
theme for the undefined oropen G center is I have to know who

(25:28):
I am and where I'm going. Sothis might sound simply like who
am I? The question reallyneeds to be who am I today? Who am
I right now? How can I find mypurpose in life? Who I am? Who can
show me my purpose in life?Who can show me where I am, where
I'm going? I mean, what mypurpose is, where I'm going? Am I
lost? Obsessing over feelinglost? I need to stick with this hobby,

(25:52):
with this role, with thisdirection. Who will love me and who
can I love? Always trying tofind something to resonate as love.
How or where can I find thatperson who will love me or who I
can love? I don't know who orhow to be. Why doesn't my path in
life make sense? And insummary, the question to ask yourself

(26:15):
to discern whether you are inGCN or not self is am I looking for
love and direction? Am Imaking this decision or moving in
this way or suppressing thispart of me because I'm looking for
love and direction. About 57%of people have the G center defined.
So a slight majority, thebiological correspondence to the

(26:36):
G is the liver and blood. TheG center has eight gates. And this
is one of the coolest patternsof the gates in the centers to me
is that all eight gates in theG center are the points at which
the solstices and equinoxeshappen. There's four of those, two
equinoxes and two solstices,as well as their midpoints. And when

(26:58):
I say happen again, I'mreferring to like I did with the
spleen when the sun entersthat gate. So. So in our tropical
zodiac, in the annualorientation of the sun in the gates,
the G center gates are wherethe solstices and equinoxes happen
as well as their midpoints. Sowe've got the Pisces Aries cusp.
When the sun goes into Aries, that's the spring equinox point.

(27:22):
At 25 we have the GeminiCancer cusp, which is the summer
solstice point. The VirgoLibra cusp, which is the fall equinox
point. These are all in thenorthern hemisphere. And the Sagittarius
Capricorn cusp, which is thewinter solstice point. And then we
have the midpoints to thosewhich happen across the Scorpio Taurus

(27:42):
axis. At the beginning ofScorpio, we have Gate 1, and at the
beginning of Taurus Gate 2.And we have the Leo Aquarius axis
in Gates 7 and 13. These arethe midpoints as well between the
solstices and the equinox. Thebeginning of Leo in the beginning
of Aquarius. There's no tribalgates in the G center. Your trajectory

(28:02):
in life has to do with yourown individual orientation and the
collective orientation, notthe tribes. And the G can be defined
in connection to the sacral. And this is where we have life force,
creative fuel, energy that canfuel me and my sense of love and
my direction. We have oneplace where the G can connect to

(28:24):
the spleen through the 5710,and that is the instinct for behaving
as myself, for my love, mysense of love and direction. We have
one place where the G connectsto the ego, the 51 in the ego and
the 25 in the G. This is thewill for universal love, willpower
for love and direction. Andthen we have these three gates, the

(28:47):
7, 1 and the 13, where the Gconnects to the throat. And this
is projecting the self throughexternalization outwards love and
direction externalized throughthe throat. Foreign.
