Jerry Jones getting fined became the flashpoint of the week after the Dallas Cowboys took down the New York Jets, but the real story might be that this team finally looked like the contender fans have been waiting for. Dak Prescott delivered one of his most efficient performances of the season with four touchdowns and no interceptions, carving up a Jets defense that had been holding opponents to under 20 points per game. Even with multiple offensive linemen out, Javonte Williams powered his way to over 130 total yards, while Ryan Flournoy shocked everyone with six catches for more than 110 yards in a breakout performance that has Cowboys Nation talking.
Defensively, Dallas set the tone early, pressuring Justin Fields into hurried throws and keeping the Jets’ rushing attack in check until late in the game. The Cowboys offense controlled the tempo with long drives, including back-to-back 90-yard marches that broke the game open and showed just how balanced this team can be when both phases are clicking. It wasn’t perfect, but it was dominant in all the right ways.
Now the question shifts to Week 6. The Cowboys head to Carolina to face a familiar face in Rico Dowdle, who is coming off a monster 200-plus yard rushing performance and would love nothing more than to torch his former team. Can Bryce Young keep up with Dak if this turns into a shootout, or will the Cowboys defense make this another statement game? And with Ceedee Lamb still working back from injury, is George Pickens ready to take full control of the WR1 role, or will KaVontae Turpin become the unexpected spark again?
The win was convincing. The fine was loud. But which one will define the Cowboys’ momentum heading forward?
