Welcome to the second episode of Majors & Minors at Cal Poly Humboldt!

This show takes a close look at the rich academic offerings of our campus and all of the areas of study that can be pursued as a student. Each episode features an interview with a department Chair (or Chairs) and focuses on the specifics of an area of study and the value of that pursuit both inside the college experience and beyond.

This week's guest is Ramesh Adhikari, Chair of the School of Business,. Ramesh Adhikari is an Associate Professor at the School of Business. He teaches responsible investment and sustainable business finance in the BBA and MBA programs. Before coming to Humboldt, Professor Adhikari taught undergraduate and graduate students at the Tribhuvan University and worked at the central bank of Nepal. He was also a research fellow at the Osaka Sangyo University, Osaka, Japan.

The School of Business offers a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, a minor in Business Administration, and a one-year MBA program designed to prepare you for success in today's competitive world. Our core curriculum builds a strong foundation in business principles, while our specialized concentrations—Accounting, Finance, Economics, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship and Management—allow you to tailor your education to your passions. Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
