We could be.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Reading your letter live on the air, just like we're
going to read this one right here, right now. You
never know, it could be yours.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
It could be yours. Buckle up and hold on tight.
We got it for you here. It is Strawberry Letter.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
All right, nephew, and thank you subject. His pretty smile
is all he cares about. Dear Stephen Shirley, this is
sure to make you laugh today. I'm a fifty year
old single woman, never married because I choose to date losers.
I thought my new boyfriend would be different, but he
is not. I've been with him for nine months and
everything was fine until he offered to get our teeth done.

(00:50):
He said we would do that instead of buying Christmas
presents for each other this year. His friend is a
cosmetic dentist that just got licensed to practice at age
fifty eight. That s been a red flag, but he
and my boyfriend have been friends since they were kids.
The dentists offered to hook us up on the price
if we referred our other friends to him for veneers.

(01:11):
My boyfriend gave him the deposit for both of us.
I had a first visit with him in his very
shady looking office. It was clean, so I trust, so
I said, I trust the process. He poked around in
my mouth with sharp tools, and then he said my
service would be more expensive because I needed a lot
more work than he expected. I felt like it was

(01:32):
a scam, and I told my boyfriend that I didn't
trust him. My boyfriend told him that he does trust
the guy, and he's going through with getting his teeth done.
He told me that when I save up my money,
I can get mine done. I thought this was supposed
to be a Christmas gift, but now I have to
pay for it myself. My boyfriend started the process already,
and I'm pissed because he acts like he has not

(01:55):
done anything wrong. If we stay together, it will be
hard to kiss him with his new perfect smile while
I still have a.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Gap too dingy mouth. It's really my man.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
If he doesn't help me pay for mine, is this
a sign to break up with him and let him
spend Christmas alone? This year.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Yeah, you were right at the top of this letter.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
This letter did make me laugh today. I got to
say this right off the bat. I don't think it's him.
I don't think it's these other guys you're with. I
think it's you. I think you're the problem. You have
gaps in your mouth and your teeth are dingy. These
are your words. This man didn't complain about it. He
just stepped up and offered a solution. I mean he

(02:39):
was tired of looking at it. I can only assume.
But he didn't make fun of you. He didn't hurt
your feelings. He didn't break up with you like you
said you might want to do with him.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
None of that.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
I mean, this is your mouth. And instead of you
being grateful that he's taking the initiative that should have
you should have taken to fix your own grill, you're
mad at him. You're the one complaining if you don't
have the money. That's something entirely different. But you didn't
necessarily say that. And now you're upset because your man
is still going ahead and getting his teeth done. I

(03:09):
think you should be happy, not considering breaking up with them.
I think you should go ahead and get your mouth fixed,
Like you said, save up the rest of the money
and get your mouth fixed.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Steve.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Wow, I'm surprised at your answer, cherlat I really am.
You usually never take you never like be straight and
blunt with people to hurt their feelings. And I felt
like you really really hurt this woman's feelings. Whatever you know.
I just think it's just such a hard answer for
her to digest. Every said that the reason that you

(03:45):
don't have nobody is called you got a raggedy mountain.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Now and it's ding and sherey.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
And that was my takeaway from it for you, that
we are dealing with two raggedy mouth people.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
I knew you were gonna say all of that.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
See here, the story is wrong on so many levels.
First of all, she's admitted she don't know how to
pick a man. She's never been married up until now,
and she says it's her fault.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
She knows, she knows it's it's her fault.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
She said, well, she's fifty years old because I choose
to date losers. Okay, so your pickers off, we got that.
Now here's the real problem. You meet a man, he's
dating you again, he decides as a gift instead of
y'all buying Christmas gifts. He gonna get y'all's mouth fixed. Now,

(04:46):
let me say something to you about men. When men
say we gonna do something together, it's really because he
won't show to do it. He just throwing himself in
to golong. He really trying to get your mouth fixed.
Here the problem his homeboy is going to be the

(05:08):
one that do it.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
They grew up together as kids. According to the letter.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
He just got license to become a dentist.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
At fifty eight. I have questions. I have serious questions.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Hey tell them where did he get this license from?

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Is it in the States?

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Did he go to a real dental college? Only his
certificate that's on his wall anywhere on it does this
say deride?

Speaker 2 (05:53):
These are things you need to look at.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Most dudes don't be decided to become dentists at fifty
eight and get license. And he's going to offer you
all a discount if you all tell your friends to
come to him for veneers. You went to the office.
The office is raggedy, and he was picking mind and

(06:18):
your mouth with sharp objects and discovered what all your
other men is more damage in her mouth than we
had originally thought I can't do it for this discount price. Godo.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
We'll have part two of Steve's crazy response coming up
in twenty three minutes after the hour.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Your mouth.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
It's pretty smile is all he cares about.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
We'll get back into it right after this.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
All right, come on, Steve, Let's recap today's Strubberry letter.
The subject is his pretty smile is all he cares about.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Fifty year old woman that's been having problems. She's never
been married, and she admittedly says, because I date losers,
because I'm assuming her picker's offer. She's dating another guy
and the guy tells her for Christmas, instead of spending
money on gifts, we gonna get.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Our mouth fixed.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
He got a partner that Jess has become a dentist
at fifty eight just not just not. And he's offering
a discount because him and his boy grew up together.
He's offering a two for one discount, a two and
two discount, whatever you want to call it.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
If you bring you in.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
You went into the office, you concerned about to look
at the office, it was a little shabby looking.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
He just got this degree to do dentistry, just got it.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
He ain't been making money at it for no years
he didne opened up his office right away. Who is
his first customer? His friend he grew up with. You
went in for a consultation. You didn't like the look
at the office. I'm concerned about him being the dinnist
at fifty eight. Where did he get his dentist's license?
Is it in America? Or has he gone to some

(08:10):
third world country? Is he get his dinner's license from
the same place that's doing the men's hair plugs? Now
I just need to know this. What see Is he
get his dentistry from Turkey? Because you get your teep
done in Turkey too. You need to find out and look,
like I said, look very carefully on his diploma and

(08:31):
see if you see the word DeVry on that anywhere. Okay,
now you go to the office. He pick around in
your mouth with some sharp objects and he informs his friends.
I cannot give her no discount.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
It's just too much wrong up in here. God dog lady.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
When you open your mouth and he went through there,
what did he find? So now it's going to be
more expensive. You're not in on the two for one.
So you said you decide you're not gonna get it
done right now. My boyfriend told me that he trusted
guy and he gonna go through with getting his teeth done.

(09:20):
Then he told you, when you save up your money,
you can get yours done.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
I thought this was supposed to be a Christmas gift.
It was.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
Until the dentist looked in your mouth. This ain't gonna
get done by Christmas. You're gonna be all up in
the Eastern You got eased to working. You have Easter
to work in your mouth. It don't say Christmas, ma'am.

(09:52):
I don't know what's wrong with your mouth. But he
don't see this getting fixed by Christmas. The dog it
is November. You got more than thirty days before christ
to get here, and you still he done decided. You
can't get your choice fixed in thirty days. What is
going on inside your mouth? I don't think jad that

(10:19):
shoot date loses. I think that men find out what's
in your mouth. Lady, you got to get your teeth fixed.
That can't keep being the reason to lose men. Uh,
he said, And you thought it was supposed to be
a Christmas gift, But now I have to pay for

(10:40):
it myself. My boyfriend started the process already, and I'm
but he acts like he ain't done nothing wrong.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
Well he ain't. He started the process.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
If we stay together, it would be hard to kiss
him with his new perfect smile while I still have
a gap tooth dens your mouth? Wow, lady, why you
not understanding what's happening to him? It's gonna be hard
to kiss him with his perfect teeth. You think it's

(11:11):
gonna be hard for you to kiss him? Why you
think he took you down to his friend's office.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
In the first place.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
Yes, it's gonna be hard to kiss him with his
new perfect smile. Well what about him? Ain't it been
hard on him to past few months.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
With your gap tooth? Then your mouth?

Speaker 3 (11:40):
This is unbelievable. Is he really my man? If he
don't help me pay for mine? What is this a
sign to break up with him and let him spend
Christmas alone?

Speaker 2 (11:54):
This year? You gonna be by yourself too? You know
what I mean?

Speaker 3 (11:59):
Chris? What was this you'ld have had by yourself with
your raggedy mouth?

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Is he my man?

Speaker 3 (12:06):
Should I let him spend Christmas alone? He gonna have
pretty teeth? He not finna be Christmas his Christmas is
gonna be full this year.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
He got in mouth right, you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Women, he grinning at at the grocery store. He down
at the Bingo hall, grinning. He down at the VFW grinning.
Oh you can get a woman. Now, you got a
pretty smile. You can get a woman. You can go
down there, man, no, no dog. I know where they go,

(12:40):

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
