Kelly Irene (00:02):
Hello and happy Monday.
For those of you listening whenthis first comes out, we have a
new moon in cancer coming up onWednesday.
For those of you who might belistening to this after the
fact, it's still gonna be veryrelevant because I'm not talking
specifically about the new moonin cancer.
I'm actually talking about lunarliving in general.
So working with the phases ofthe moon, just.

(00:24):
As a more general concept, Ijust happen to be letting
releasing this for the New Moonbecause I think that's
appropriate.
I love working with the moon.
I think that it's such a greatway to build rhythm into our
life rhythms that include restand action.
Rhythms that include reflection, intention, as well as more

(00:47):
external things like gatheringwith our people.
Gives us lots of time forsolitude, for friendships, for
family, as well as, just makingsure that we're living that
intentional life that we wannabe living.
This is also how I came intoastrology.
I went to a new moon circle backin February of 2020, so if that

(01:08):
rings a bell, that's because itwas literally two weeks before
our first big COVID shutdown.
And when I went to that circle.
I was in a place at that timewhere my soul had very much been
hibernating.
I had been divorced just twoyears earlier.
Over the course of those twoyears, I also lost my faith, and

(01:28):
that's something I've talkedabout in prior episodes.
Not so much my faith as a whole,as a broad term, but my faith in
terms of the community and whatit was at that time, it's since
had a complete rebirth, whichhas been really cool.
But At that time, back inFebruary of 2020, I very much
was living with my soul andhibernation after having lived a

(01:51):
very soulful and spiritual lifefor most of my life prior to
that.
So I was in a position where Iwas ready for kind of a
reawakening, and I didn't knowwhat that would look like.
I got this invitation for a newmoon circle at a local day spa,
and I went, I just, I wascurious and something inside
said, go, now I know that was myintuition.

(02:13):
And during that time, we setintentions about really getting
to know ourselves and we learneda little bit about the moon
cycles.
We also used Oracle cards, whichwas something else that I ended
up diving into.
But I loved that wholeexperience.
I loved learning about thephases of the moon.

(02:34):
I loved learning about therhythms that they provide.
And so when everything shut downin March of 2020, just literally
two weeks after this I doveheadfirst into learning about
the moon cycles, learning aboutwho I am through the lens of
astrology, learning about andusing Oracle cards.
That whole like six months afterthat was just a deep dive into

(02:58):
new spiritual practices thatawakened something incredible in
me.
And so heading into this nextNew Moon, as I'm recording, this
feels so good to think abouthow.
Much this has impacted my lifeover the past five years and how
I've seen it impact others tooas I've shared this.
We're gonna dive in together tolunar living.

(03:21):
This is based on a webinar thatI've done in the past.
There's a full recording, Ithink, on my YouTube channel.
For those of you who arelistening who might wanna see
slides or visuals of this, youcan see that on the YouTube
channel.
It's just, it's most true you,but I think even just listening,
this is gonna be helpful.
So with Lunar Living, this issomething that I think is so

(03:44):
cool because like I said at thebeginning, it gives us a cycle
with rhythms.
So if you think about looking ata clock face, what would be 12
o'clock on the clock is our newmoon.
And as we go clockwise around.
What would be three o'clock?
We've got the first quartermoon, what would be six o'clock
is the full moon, so down at thebottom and then over to the left

(04:07):
as you continue around, whatwould be nine o'clock is our
last quarter moon.
And I point that out because themoon has.
Always been used similar to thesun as a method of keeping time.
So where the sun has helped ustrack hours, the moon has helped
us track days and seasons andcycles.

(04:28):
So with the New Moon at the top, this is and we're talking in
terms of Western astrology.
There's nuances with this inJewish astrology, in dic, in
Eastern astrology.
But we're specifically talkingabout this from the lens of
Western astrology today.
In Western astrology, the newmoon lasts for about three days.

(04:48):
It's when there's no light inthe sky from the moon.
And when we begin to see thatfirst sliver of the waxing
crescent moon visible, that'swhen the new moon has ended and
we've officially begun headingtoward that first quarter moon.
So thinking about this being atime that is dark in ancient
times when we didn't haveelectricity, streetlights, that

(05:09):
sort of thing, people wereinside.
That's where it was safe.
They weren't going out at nighttypically.
Travelers were sleeping.
Harvest wasn't happening at thattime.
It was a time to be inside withyourself, with your family unit,
with those that you lived with.
And so thinking about it fromthat lens helps us understand

(05:29):
why this is an intention settingtime.
This is a time when we'relooking at okay, in the cycle
ahead, what seeds do we want toplant?
Because we're not out at nightharvesting, but we might be
planting seeds during the day ifwe tie it back to that.
Some of the key words that areassociated with the New Moon are
things like transition, a blankslate, a beginning, optimism.

(05:53):
It's a very hopeful time becauseit's filled with potential.
There's a lot that can happen inthe 28, 29 day cycle ahead.
It's a time of renewal.
The New Moon is a time to setintentions and plant seeds of
what we wanna see coming in thecycle ahead.
I, for me, I love this becausebeing intentional and living

(06:13):
intentionally is something thatI had always valued, but I
didn't realize how much I valuedit until I began working with
the moon cycles and saw, oh,this is what I've been trying to
do for so long.
But I didn't have a way tonaturally bring it into my life.
So doing things like visionboards, going on retreats, and
thinking about what I wanted forthe future, all of that was part

(06:36):
of my life prior to knowingabout astrology and really
working with astrology.
But now I have an intentionalway of saying this is part of my
rhythm of life, to setintentions.
So as we go through from the newmoon toward the full moon, we

(06:57):
say that the moon is waxing, she's gaining light heading into
what we call the first quartermoon, which is really when the
moon appears to be halfway full.
So the quarter is referring tothe, or a quarter of the way
through the cycle, not what themoon appears to be.
The moon appears to be halfwayfull, but we're.
One quarter of the way through.

(07:17):
I don't math very well, so to methat's always been a little
confusing.
But thinking about it in termsof the full cycle is helpful.
Keywords that are associatedwith the first quarter moon are
things like action, growth, abundance, building, momentum,
commitment.
This is a time when we look atthose intentions that we set
those seeds that we planted aweek ago and we say, are we

(07:38):
committed to seeing thisthrough?
And what action have we alreadytaken and what action do we need
to take?
Toward that commitment, towardthat intention.
That's what the energy of thefirst Quarter Moon is.
So if you're looking at thisfrom the point of view of just
going, okay, what is gonna bethe best use of my energy today?
And that you're in somewherebetween the New Moon and the

(07:59):
Full Moon, that those are timesfor action.
Those are times that youprobably have more energy
because you're gaining theenergy of the light that's
reflecting off of the moon.
When we get to the full Moonthis is the time that's really
associated with harvest.
So there's if you're looking atthe YouTube video, there's other

(08:22):
words on here and we'll talkabout that.
But the Full Moon is reallyassociated with gathering.
So think back to at the NewMoon, people were inside because
there was no light in the sky tohelp them feel safe, help them
feel like they could see whatwas going on around them.
The full Moon.
People are out.
People are harvesting, they'regathering, they're celebrating,
they're partying together withpeople who they don't

(08:43):
necessarily live with becausenow there's light in the sky at
night.
Now they can see what's going onaround them when they're
outside.
I.
The full Moon is also associatedwith things like getting psychic
downloads feeling more in touchwith your intuition.
It's also associated with thefeminine, with sexuality, with

(09:04):
things that are uncontrollable.
Now we hear if you work.
In a labor and delivery unit orknow somebody who does.
You probably hear people talkabout this a lot.
Oh, it must be a full moonbecause we have more births
happening.
That's that release that whatwas planted previously is now
coming to fruition.
As we go around the kind ofopposite side of the clock, from

(09:27):
the full moon to the new moon,we see that the moon is waning.
So she's losing light.
And another way of looking atthat is she's disseminating her
light.
All that light that shegathered, the action that was
being taken, the knowledge thatwas being gathered, maybe it's
now being disseminated.
It's now being released.
So those are words that areassociated with that last

(09:50):
quarter moon.
These are times where you.
Might want to share yourknowledge, share your abundance.
If you've been working on aproject that was started at the
New Moon, now is the time to betalking about your findings from
that project.
What did we maybe learn in that?
This is also a time to releasethe things that don't serve you

(10:10):
anymore, the things that mightneed to be falling away,
especially as they relate tothat intention that you set.
I like to look at the lastquarter moon as a time to tie up
or cut off loose ends.
I think that's a really helpfulway to look at this, that
whatever intention was set, thisis the time to go.
All right, I've taken action.
I've taken action.
I've.
Gathered, I've harvested what Itook action on, and now as I'm

(10:35):
releasing, I'm also releasingthe parts of that I didn't get
around to.
Right?
28, 29 days is actually not thatlong of a period of time, and
there's going to be things thatdidn't happen, and so releasing
those and saying, that's okaythat didn't happen, I'm gonna
cut off that loose end totallyfine too.
You can always come back to thatduring the next or another moon

(10:56):
cycle.
So in addition to releasing, cutting off those loose ends,
also tying up loose ends, ifthere's anything else that you
still wanna do and you say, yep,I've got time for that.
I've got energy for that.
Get it done.
Buckle down, get it done.
That's definitely a very lastquarter moon thing to do.
And we're talking about thesenot in terms of this has to be

(11:18):
done on this exact day, butwhat's the general energy of the
week, right?
You can look at where is themoon?
What cycle or what phase is sheat in her cycle?
What is she headed towards?
And blend those together to say, okay, we just had a full moon,
or we just had a last quartermoon.
Now we're heading, as I'mrecording this, we had a last
quarter moon.
We're heading to a new moon.

(11:38):
What do I need to either tie upor cut off as I finish up
whatever intentions I had set?
That's the energy that we'retalking about.
And then finally the dark moon.
This, I think, is such animportant part of knowing the
phases of the moon, because thisis where rest really comes in.
The dark moon is those two tothree days leading up to the new

(12:01):
Moon.
It's when there's the leastamount of light in the sky.
We've had that full moon.
The moon has been disseminatingher light.
It's been waning.
We've gone through the lastquarter moon.
Now is the time to rest.
We're not going out to party atnight.
We're not getting together withour neighbors because there's no
light in the sky and we'reafraid to walk home in the dark.

(12:22):
This is the time to rest.
To reflect on those intentionsthat you had set the month prior
and to say, what did I do?
What did I enjoy?
What gave me life?
What did I need to let go of?
Then we go back into thatprocess of intention setting,
but without this dark moonphase, it's just go.

(12:44):
Intention, action, intention,action.
The dark moon allows us to rest, and we all need that.
We need that time of rest in ourlives.
We can get that throughout theweek as well.
Not saying wait till the end ofthe month to rest, but making
sure that there is thatintentional time for rest when
you are working with the phasesof the moon is really important.

(13:05):
And then the cycle begins againand we get to go back to the new
moon.
This, and the thing that I loveabout this is, like I said, it
gives us that rhythm.
I.
We are setting intentions andplanting seeds.
We're letting them grow.
We're making sure, right?
If you plant seeds, you have togo out and water them.
You have to weed out things thatmight keep your seeds from

(13:25):
growing.
It's the same thing as we'resetting intentions for our lives
that we have to be able to.
Plant and then care for ourseeds.
And then when we get to thatfull moon, harvesting,
harvesting from our work andgiving ourselves that
opportunity to be grateful forwhat we've done, grateful for
what we've experienced over thepast couple of weeks is an

(13:46):
important part of that as well.
And then disseminating, sharingour findings, sharing the fruit
of our labor with those aroundus, and then giving ourselves
time to rest.
That's the cycle of the moonthat we're talking about.
There's so many other nuances tothis.
We're not gonna get into thosesuper deep today.
I'll give you a little bit ofthat, but.

(14:08):
As I mentioned, we're cominginto a new moon in Cancer.
So in that case, we look at,okay, what are the themes?
Themes of cancer.
Cancer is a water sign.
So it has a lot to do with ourintuition and our emotions.
Cancer is associated withfamily, with nurturing, with
going inwards.
That's that.
Think about the new moon and thedark moon.

(14:29):
We go inwards, we go into ourhome and we have some solitude
that can be very cancer energy.
So looking at that in terms ofwhat do I need with my internal
life?
What intentions can I set there,I.
Is really helpful.
The next New Moon will be inLeo.
That's gonna be a completelydifferent energy.
Leo's energy is shining yourlight outward.

(14:51):
Leo's energy is saying, this iswho I am.
Let me present myself to theworld where cancer is associated
with the moon.
Leo's associated with the sun.
Very different energies.
So knowing what.
Sign the New Moon is happeningin is really helpful.
And then knowing where that signis in your unique birth chart.

(15:12):
So every birth chart has all 12signs and each sign is going to
be in a house.
And those houses have to do adifferent phases of our lives.
So let's say you have cancer inthe fifth house.
Then this specific New Moon isnot only going to be dealing
with themes of family andnurture and your inner life and
your intuition and youremotional wellbeing, it's also

(15:34):
going to.
Have to do with fifth houseenergies, which are things like
fun, recreation, sex, childrenenjoyment.
So blending those two togetherto go, okay, what intentions can
I set?
How can I be intentional aboutworking with this energy of
cancer?
Nurturing family-oriented, in,internal energy and adding in

(15:59):
the elements of fun andrecreation and enjoyment and
pleasure, all of that to it.
Maybe your cancer for you is ina different house.
Maybe it's in let's say it's the10th house.
The 10th house is associatedwith our public life, with our
careers, and so there'sintentions that you wanna set
about your career.
This is a good time to do that.

(16:20):
So getting to know your ownchart in that way is really
helpful too.
If this is completely new toyou, if you have no idea what
your birth chart looks like orwhat, what sign means, what have
a really cool guide availablethat you can download.
So if you just go to most trueyou.com/guide, and I'll put a
link in the show notes to thisit's free.
It walks you through how to findyour birth chart, how to find

(16:42):
your sun, moon, and risingsigns.
And then also in that you'll seewhere your houses are at.
So you can.
Read about each of the signs youcan read about what your sun,
moon, and rising mean, and thenyou can begin to apply this to
your own life.
If this is something that youwould like to go deeper into,

(17:04):
wanna hear?
What is gonna be most helpfulfor you?
So if this is something whereyou're like, let's go deeper
into this, email me, I'd love tohear from you.
It's hello, at most trueyou.com.
And those go directly to me.
I.
There's a lot more that we cansay about the lunar phases, but
this gives you a really goodidea of kind of the foundational
elements of working with themoon.

(17:25):

Enjoy this new moon phase.
If you're listening on the daythis comes out, it's a dark moon
day.
