Speaker 1 (00:00):
Today's podcast is from parade to purpose what Palm Sunday
demands from us. Palm Sunday is often celebrated with songs
of joy, waving palm branches, and echoes of Hosanna in
the highest, but if we're not careful, we'll reduce it
to a parade, colorful, loud, and momentary. The truth is,
(00:21):
Palm Sunday is not just a celebration to be remembered.
It's a calling to be answered. Because Jesus didn't tried
into Jerusalem for applause, he rode in for purpose, the
parade was never the point. In John twelve, we see
the triumphal entry unfold. The people shout praises, lay their
cloaks on the road, and hail Jesus as king. It
(00:45):
looks like a victory parade. But while the crowd celebrated,
Jesus swept Luke nineteen forty one why because he knew
the same people shouting Hosanna on Sunday would be shouting
crucify him by Friday. He knew their praise was rooted
in expectation, not revelation. They wanted a political savior, not
(01:06):
a suffering servant. They were ready for a parade, but
not a purpose, and many today are no different. We
love the high moments, the emotional worship, the feel good Sundays,
but do we lean into the deeper purpose? Are we
walking with Christ when the music stops? Jesus came to
fulfill purpose, not popularity. Jesus didn't come to meet their preferences.
(01:32):
He came to fulfill prophecy. Rejoice greatly, daughter Zion, see
your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and
riding on a donkey Zechariah ninety nine. He entered not
on a stallion but a donkey, not in gold robes
but common garments. Not with an army behind him, but
(01:54):
with purpose before him. He came to die. The triumphal
entry was only the beginning of a week that would
change history, because Jesus understood that the parade must lead
to purpose, and the cheers must give way to the cross.
What Palm Sunday demands from us. Palm Sunday isn't just
about what Jesus did. It's about what we must do
(02:17):
in response. It demands that we move from emotional celebration
to intentional surrender. It asks will we follow Jesus when
the path leads to sacrifice. Will we obey him when
the crowd walks away? Will we move from palms to purpose?
Because Jesus isn't looking for fans who wave branches. He's
(02:38):
calling followers who bear crosses. Whoever wants to be my
disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily
and follow me Luke nine twenty three. Following Christ is
more than shouting Hosanna. It's saying yes when no one
is looking. Its loving enemies, forgiving, freely, serving sacrificially, and
(03:00):
walking by faith when life gets dark. Closing challenge, don't
just watch the parade. Join the purpose this Palm Sunday.
Don't just re enact the crowd's celebration. Reflect on Christ's courage,
Let his humility shape your heart, Let his purpose realign
your priorities. Because Palm Sunday is not just about the
(03:23):
king who came. It's about the disciple you're becoming. Don't
just wave branches. Walk in his purpose.
