Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to My Vertical Obsession Short Traumas podcast. We will
be talking about all the different types of vertical shorts
that are out there, recapping some of them, talking about past,
present and new ones, and just kind of dishing and
reviewing the vertical shorts that are out there. I feel
that it's kind of gotten a little bit bigger over

(00:21):
the last year year and a half, and as name
states of my podcast, it's been a bit of an
obsession for me because they're so binge worthy and they
just kind of suck you in and I enjoy them
so much. There are certain ones that I know I
enjoy more than others, especially when it comes to the
apps that share them produce them. Not sure how that

(00:44):
all works, but I know like Real Short, My Drama,
Candy Jar, and Big Glue are ones that I really
enjoy the most, and those are the ones that I
tend to kind of like gravitate towards. We'll be talking
all about that within the podcast. We said, we'll be
talking about past ones, reviewing them, kind of giving my

(01:05):
thoughts on certain ones. I haven't truly decided how I'm
going to go about this. I thought maybe i'd kind
of like do. Each episode would be a review of
a new short or series, but they also come out
so fast that sometimes it's hard to do that. So
I'm still kind of figuring it out. Right now, I'm
going to have written down thoughts on certain ones and

(01:26):
still kind of like going through and still kind of
like writing my thoughts down as new ones come out,
so that way I can film these episodes and share
with you all. And I guess as we go, I'm
sure things will change and will kind of adapt to
what format really works. But I do know that sometimes
I will be just talking about a specific series in

(01:47):
one episode, because there are certain ones that are just
like really really good that I really enjoy. Like I said,
I know that they've kind of gotten a little bit
more popular. And why I really decided to start this
podcast was because I I had done a whole episode
on another podcast that I have called TV inside my
Head about the vertical shorts and the vertical dramas because

(02:08):
I wanted to talk about them. And then I was like, wait,
this would probably make a really good podcast idea because
there are constantly new ones coming out and more people
are kind of finding them, so I thought maybe it'd
be fun to do something like this, and I hope
that it kind of like reaches people and they might
enjoy listening to this. Or I could just do this
all just for the fun of it and something that

(02:30):
it's just for me, and well, well we'll kind of
go along with it and see what happens. And I
just know that when I was talking about it, and
when I was editing the episode for my other podcast,
I was like, I really want to do this because
I want to talk about it more. But I felt
that that podcast was not the right one because that's
geared more to television shows and I wanted something that

(02:53):
was specifically for these shorts, something that was dedicated to this.
That's where this came a lot. And it took me
a little bit to kind of come up with a name,
and I'm not still not kind of convinced of it,
but after a while, I kind of kind of liked it.
It really kind of stuck with me. So for a
little background, I know, I first started getting into these

(03:15):
little vertical short dramas back when they first started like
kind of airing ads for it on TikTok, and I
know the first couple of ones that I watched and
the ones that TikTok really showed were the Unwanted Bride
of Atticin Fawn and True Luna. I don't know why,
but they are the ones that I can remember being
the first ones that I watched, and both of those

(03:37):
ended in cliffhangers, and I was so pissed. But I
also think that they were stories or fan fictions that
were adapted into these series. I think, but I'm not
one hundred percent sure. I think the Atticus Fawn one
definitely was, but I do know that there was one
one short that I watched within like the last year

(03:58):
that was similar, if not the same story as the
Unwanted Ride of Atticist Fond. They just changed the name,
the kind of changed small details, and I was just
like watching this, going this is one hundred percent Attochist Fon,
Like this whole story is at Atiicist Faon And I
had to actually go back and look for that one
just to be like, I'm not going crazy, right, And

(04:19):
sure enough, it really was. It was basically that same story,
but they changed things and adapted it a little bit
to make it different, which is something that these shorts
do a lot. So I've found that a lot of
these stories and shorts, they end up being similar in
nature and similar in writing, so they end up kind

(04:41):
of reworking different stories and adapting it to a new
type of story. But you can get the sense that
it's very similar. They're very identical in a sense sometimes.
But I also know that from some of the actors
who are part of these shorts, they share that these
shorts are taken from a Chinese translation, so they don't

(05:03):
always translate well. So that also might be why they're
so similar too, because they they're just taking one version
and then creating it into English and readapting it constantly.
But they're still very fun to watch, very addictive to
get into, in my opinion, and I just I love

(05:24):
benching them sometimes spent too much time benching them at times.
But I think one of the things that I've seen
recently and that I've actually said myself, is that they
kind of were little like soap opera type shorts, that
they're just that mellow drama and over the top drama
at times, that they're just soapy enough that they catch
your attention and holds your attention and make you want

(05:47):
to see what happens next, especially when they post like
the clips on TikTok, because they show one of the
most intense moments and then it's just like stops, and
then it's like, hey, go to the app to find
out more, where you're just sitting there going like I
need to know what happens, but do I really want
to pay the money type of thing. And that's what
kind of catches me a lot too, is when I

(06:09):
see the ad and it stops at a part like, Okay,
now I need to know what happens, thinks, So but
I know when it comes to real short that one
I kind of follow constantly to see what new ones
are coming out, and sometimes they have like really good ones,
and then they do have like the melodrama ones, but
there are ones that are just like really good story

(06:30):
and I enjoy those ones. And one of the other
things that I have totally found too when it comes
to Real short is they tend to share some series
with like Drama Box and Drama Wave, and Drama Box
and Drama Wave also kind of share series as well,
So I've kind of like noticed that, which makes me
happy at times because there are some that end up

(06:52):
unlike Drama Box, that I want to watch and when
I see it on Real Short, I was like, yes,
that works, I can watch it. Because sometimes it's hard
to not want to like subscribe to all of these
so it's nice when some of them share their their series.
I know they don't all do that, but sometimes it's
when I say that. But yeah, So this was just

(07:13):
to be a small introduction into what this podcast could be.
Like I said, I'm still trying to figure it out,
kind of go along with what I want to do
how I want to do it, and it just start
off with be doing some recaps and reviews of certain
series and I'll be posting those and then just kind
of we'll go from there and going to figure out

(07:37):
what would be the best. I just kind of wanted
to introduce you all to the podcast. You what is
coming up? I will be mostly talking about right now
series series from Real Short, Drama, Box Drama, Wave, Big Glue,
Candy Jar, My Drama, sometimes Short Max, maybe Fat Layer Flow,

(07:57):
and definitely would love some suggestions of which shorts and
series I should check out and watch that I could
do recaps on. So definitely we'll be setting up an
email if you have any suggestions, please feel free to
send them to me because I would love to know
which series you love and I can check it out,

(08:18):
we can talk about it, because I know there's so
many out there and I'm trying my best to keep
up with them, but sometimes I fall behind, and sometimes
I've missed some that have already been released but I
just hadn't seen them yet. So yeah, so feel free
to send me any suggestions for series you think I
should check out. I will definitely do that and then

(08:40):
add it to a list of ones that I can
recaunt on the latest show. And I know, and I'm
going to try and host episodes as often as I can.
I may fall on a schedule of semi weekly or
every couple of weeks, but I'm going to do my
best post them as soon and as fast as possible,
because again, set these series, they drop new ones so

(09:02):
fast that sometimes it's hard to keep up. But I'm
gonna do my best. So I know this isn't the
best opening, and it hopefully will get better, but this
is my vertical obsession and I can't wait to dive
into all the vertical dramas. So until next time, guys,
