Lon Clark played Nick Carter and Charlotte Manson played his assistant, Patsy Bowen. Nick Carter ran from 1943 to 1955.

of Missus Telman's home lies the body of the man
who had informed on the juvenile gang ex police Officer Riley.

hail of bullets intended to frighten his neighbor, Missus Telman.
Speaker 3 (10:13):

Sore at Riley for telling the old lady the boys
started that firing the building of hers.

Another reason I think Tim did it is because the
other boys all said that shooting up Missus Tellman's home
was his idea.

be able to run around that big cream colored convertible
he's got and.

You know, about seven years ago we tagged him for

of them to bump off Riley by telling him it
would look like an accident.

Well, the bullet went into the center of his forehead
and came out behind his right ear, traveling a downward course.

I see, if it had been fired from the car,
the bullet would have traveled upwards right.

That's why I thought the bullet might have come from
the second or third story and that empty building across
the street.

It did too, that's where bub saw Moxy.

As but the boys thought he was helping them from
Missus Tillman. They didn't even know Riley had been shot
until I told him.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
So that's why Moxy tried to kill the boys by
setting that warehouse on fire, because he knew they'd seen him.

See, Moxie had hated Riley ever since Riley sent him
up to the penitentiary for that stick up seven years ago. Yeah,
and when the boys told him of their trouble with
a woman to live next door, and also that Riley
sat on on the front steps of his house every night, Well,
it looked like a perfect setup for murder.

Well, I still don't see how you could ever have
proved it, though, if Moxie hadn't confessed.

too before we jumped, it would have been very much
worse bad. Neither of the kids was hurt. Do you

Well, I think I'll be able to get him a
suspended sentence, depending on their future good behavior.
Speaker 3 (23:09):

Speaker 2 (23:10):
Well, now that the boys club is a certainty, their
behavior shouldn't be any problem.
Speaker 5 (23:14):
I think they've learned their lesson, says, since they'll never
admire gangsters again after the way Moxye treated them.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Uh huh.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
You know you never did tell me how you figured
out that Moxie killed mister Riley.
Speaker 3 (23:25):
I didn't know it was.
Speaker 5 (23:26):
Moxy, but I was pretty sure Riley hadn't been shot
by one of the boys in that car. Why, because
anyone shooting from a car wouldn't have had the gun
more than five feet above street level, m and Riley
was sitting on the top step, his head at least.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
Eight feet above street level.
Speaker 5 (23:40):
Well, the bullet went into the center of his forehead
and came out behind his right ear, traveling a downward course.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
I see, if it had been fired from the car,
the bullet would have traveled upwards right.
Speaker 5 (23:51):
That's why I thought the bullet might have come from
the second or third story and that empty building across
the street.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
It did too, that's where bub saw Moxy.
Speaker 5 (23:58):
As but the boys thought he was helping them from
Missus Tillman. They didn't even know Riley had been shot
until I told him.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
So that's why Moxy tried to kill the boys by
setting that warehouse on fire, because he knew they'd seen him.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (24:09):
See, Moxie had hated Riley ever since Riley sent him
up to the penitentiary for that stick up seven years ago. Yeah,
and when the boys told him of their trouble with
a woman to live next door, and also that Riley
sat on on the front steps of his house every night, Well,
it looked like a perfect setup for murder.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
YEA.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Well, I still don't see how you could ever have
proved it, though, if Moxie hadn't confessed.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
We were lucky to get the proof first, and he
confessed later. Hmm. Wasn't hard. Once we knew what to
look for.
Speaker 5 (24:33):
He found the dealer from whom Moxy bought a twenty
two rifle exactly like the one he knew the boys
were going to use, and later we found the gun itself.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
So it wasn't such a perfect setup after all.
Speaker 5 (24:42):
Well, not for murder, but as far as Moxie was concerned.
It turned out to be a perfect setup for the
electric chair.
