This episode is all about Boomtown 2025, and the story we wove there in the La Luna Coven. Boomtown’s theme for next year is Radical Redesign, but this year, we were already living it. We built a time machine, travelled with a crystal through past and future, and dreamt up a world where difference is celebrated, technology and nature work in harmony, and everyone thrives.

I’ll be sharing what happened inside our Coven at Old Town, the visions we imagined with the festival-goers, and what it felt like to open the Lion’s Gate stage before tens of thousands of people, calling in the Guardians of Earth, Air, Fire, Water, the Horned God and the Great Goddess.

This is a story about imagination, resistance, and hope. It’s about stepping away from fear and towards love, every step of the way.

So come with me, into the chaos of Boomtown, and discover what a Radical Redesign of the future might really look like.

(00:31):
The.

(00:56):
It is 10:30 PM and I am lying inbed, relaxing, having a very
enjoyable chill, having had amassage and a nap, and then some
dinner and a shower, and yeah, now going to bed.

(01:16):
And no, it's not just me tellingyou about my early night.
In any normal situation, this isme at BoomTown.
I actually get a real kind ofweird pleasure out of having
relaxing early nights atBoomTown because yeah,
festivals, cinemas, andlectures, I find sleeping in

(01:38):
these environments like the mostenjoyable sleep that you can
have because you're not meant tobe sleeping, and it just feels
like a naughty sleep and it's.
More enjoyable and deeper andyeah, I've been working
extremely hard since we gothere.
We got here on Tuesday and we'vebeen rehearsing, I think from

(02:02):
8:00 AM till 6:00 PM one day,and then we had to go to our
venue and.
Help.
Like just check that and set up.
And it was about eight o'clockby the time I went to bed, so
that was a 12 hour day.
And then this morning, 6:30 AM Igot up and we were doing stuff
till.
Lunchtime, well, it was abouttwo o'clock.
We finished and then went to thevenue and then I've come back

(02:26):
and chilled out today.
'cause tomorrow it's another6:37 AM start.
And then we are doing theopening ceremony on the main
stage to 60,000 people atmidday.
And it's.
The 8th of August, which is theLionsgate portal and the High
Holy Days in terms of magic.
Uh, so it's a really specialday, and it's the Aquarius Full

(02:49):
Moon as well.
And we are in the age ofAquarius at the moment, and
we're on the Lionsgate stage, which is a portal that's opened,
so it feels very powerful.
That we're doing this work.
It Beam Town has a spell that.
It is.
It's, it's a, as you might haveheard from listening to earlier

(03:13):
podcasts, and if you haven't, goback and listen to the Jonathan
K podcast and also the one with.
Megan from BoomTown, um, who wasthe first person I interviewed,
uh, she's the narrative writerand theater writer of BoomTown.
So from Jonathan, you'll hearthat.

(03:33):
This land that we hold BoomTownin is a land temple that was
carved in neolithic times.
They were very into landscapegardening, um, and Glastonbury
tour at Salisbury Hill.
And this whole land Temples, St.
Catherine's Hill and all thisbasin here were all landscaped
grounds where they would've cometogether and held festivals.

(03:57):
You know, imagine what thatmight have been like and that's
what we are gonna be doing inour venue this year in the
coven, is that we're gonna beinviting people to do a
meditation where they imagine.
What was it like?
What was it like?
I'm here in this magic basinnow, and I close my eyes and I
can hear this thumping drums andmusic and people screaming and

(04:21):
laughing.
So much noise and life, and Iimagine that that would've
probably been what it was likeback then.
They were very into moving rocksand shifting rocks.
There will be stones and rocksand formations that they've
created that they're in amongst, and there is dancing and music

(04:42):
and celebration, and it's inreverence to the land and it's
in reverence to community andconnection.
And the land is participatingand is celebrating with them.
The Earth energy's run throughhere.
So the spine of Albion, uh, theenergy lines of Ellen and Bellus
run through Winchester andthrough this land, through this

(05:04):
land temple.
And by coincidence, as you'llknow from the Meghan interview,
the names of the lines of Bellasand Ellen, and the main
character of the storyline hereat BoomTown is.
The daughter of the man whocreated the AI that used to

(05:25):
control the city, um, the AI wascontrolling everyone and put the
city into lockdown the year thatthe pandemic happened.
So they all freaked out the, thestoryline writers here because
they'd created the story ofBoomTown going into lockdown,
and then suddenly it happened inreal life.
And I mean, that's the power ofthis land temple and these earth

(05:47):
energy lines running through it.
And then they started writingthe story again and they wrote
the story that, the reason why.
Uh, so the AI robot puteverything into lockdown and
then.
She'd shut herself down.
And the reason why she shutherself down was she downloaded
all the personalities of thebeings in BoomTown in order to
control them all.

(06:08):
But she didn't realize thatshe'd been based on the daughter
of the guy who'd invented her,and that that daughter was in
BoomTown.
So she accidentally downloadedher own humanity and realized
what she was doing was evil.
And so she'd shut herself downand dispersed.
A series of seeds in each of thedistricts.

(06:28):
So each of the differentdistricts of BoomTown has its
own seed.
And that started to grow amycelium network underneath the
city.
And that's, uh, kind of calledthe network.
And our, um, venue, which is theLa Luna Coven, uh, a witchy
venue, uh, where we teachenlightenment to the bucket, her

(06:48):
bucket hat wearing ravers thatcome and visit us.
Um.
We are part of the network andit's yeah, this sort of
grassroots mycelium networkthat's growing a resistance
network.
And by complete coincidence, thename of the daughter of the AI
inventor was called Ellen.

(07:08):
And so when we got here, therewas all these posters everywhere
saying, wanted Ellenor, hasanyone seen Ellen?
And we were like, ah.
Ellen's the land, Ellen's theenergy line.
She's running through here.
And so yeah, it's allcoincidence.
And yet in magic, nothing's acoincidence.
And this place is extremelypowerful and very special.

(07:30):
So the story that we are tellingin our coven this weekend is
that we've created a timetraveling Crystal because last
year there was an election.
And um, what one of thedistricts?
Four A four, which is like theMad Max district, their guy one
who's the collector and he's, sohe won last year, but then there

(07:55):
was also this like transmissionthat came through from the
Mycelium network, which iscalled now, called Iona.
And um.
Uh, that said that there'sanother way and that the
mushroom is coming and so thenetwork's kind of growing and
this mushroom thing's gonna comeat some point in the future.
One guesses.
But this year the collector'ssort of gone weird and it's like

(08:16):
he's a.
Deep fake, um, AI generatedcollector, and he, it's as if
he's maybe been kidnapped anddisappeared and he's been
replaced by this AI character.
Um, but also a portal hasappeared called the Lionsgate
Portal, which is the main stage, and it's this great big stage
with a huge circle in the middleof it with a screen and it keeps

(08:38):
doing transmissions, uh, whichlooks like all of the leaders of
the different districts thatwere all in the election last
year.
All looking completely haggardand like war torn and just
going, everything's bad,everything's gone wrong.
It's all gone wrong and it'sgonna be a transmission from the
future.
And Rufuss, who's the clown whoruns Old Town, which is where
our venue is, um, he's, he gotus the Lalina Coven to do a

(09:03):
reading to predict the future.
And we did a reading, and thereading was.
The hangman, the tower, and thedeath card.
And he read that as we're alldeemed.
And so he took the old town andtook it out of the basin, which
is this land temple basin thatwas talking about and has put us
up on the top, so up on theridge.

(09:24):
And so now we are separate fromthe basin and we're up on the
ridge and I was like, oh, that'sgonna be a killer on my legs.
Which is, it's gonna be abugger.
For getting up and down to, butit's actually really nice up
there.
And we've got loads of like allof the, kind of, almost like the
Greenfields area at Glastonburywhere all the crafts and the
massage and healing stuff is allup there as well.

(09:45):
Loads of really nice foodplaces.
So it's actually quite nice.
It's like all old towns, allsort of mock Tudor.
Um, yeah, it looks like an oldTudor town.
And then you've got all thislovely chilled stuff, hippie
stuff beyond that.
So that's quite nice.
And.
Yeah, so he took it that weneeded to separate, but what
we're will the priestess is ofthe La Luna cover.

(10:07):
And we know that those cardsdon't really mean that.
So the hangman means surrenderthe tower means let your ego
burn and and burn this realityto the ground.
And the death cards meansabsolute transformation.
The equivalent of a death, butto just let everything
completely transform and that'swhat needs to happen in the
world.
We need to surrender to, youknow, give up the story of the

(10:31):
game and our success and what wethink this all is.
You know, give up the story ofthis reality, surrender and burn
it all to the ground.
And then completely transform, create something completely new.
So what we've done in the covenis we found this time traveling
crystal, and we've made a timemachine, but the crystal, you

(10:53):
can only use it a few timesbefore it cracks.
So we went back in time and wesaw this beautiful land temple
being used by the neolithicpeople, celebrating and having
this amazing festival.
And they were all connected andconnected to the lounge, and it
was beautiful and it wasbrilliant and vibrant and sexy
and really fun.
And then.
It didn't crack the crystal, sowe used it one more time and we

(11:13):
went to the future andeverything was amazing and
things were brilliant and, andit, it was also connected to the
land, but there was technologythere.
But the technology had becomealmost like, um, biological.
There was like plants andtechnology and, and beings were
all kind of interconnected andthere were loads of different
types of people.

(11:34):
Like when we went to the past,it was one type of people who
were there.
Whereas here, when we went tothe future, it was all.
All the different districts, butwe were all enjoying each other,
but still having our I ownidentity.
So it just felt like really richbiodiversity and we were in tune
with the land and just, it wasamazing and it felt so.

(11:55):
Like vibrant and empowered andyou couldn't see who, there was
no sign of anyone being rich orpoor.
Um, it was just flourishing andfull of ideas and ingenuity and
just, yeah, it was just glowingwith divine beauty and
excitement and possibility andso.

(12:17):
Whatever this future is that theportal's showing that's maybe a,
a near future and what we saw asmaybe further along.
But basically we do win.
We win out, we will survive, wewill be okay, and that we just
need to work out how to get fromwhere we are now to the future
that we saw.
And the chapter this year, the,the theme of the festival is the

(12:38):
power of now.
And so in our space we've gotlike a kind of French resistance
thing where we've got a board onthe wall.
Where, you know, like on amurder mystery, uh, thing where
they have the pictures all onthe wall with bits of string
connecting up the dots andgoing, ah, this is connected to
that.
And so we're gonna have a wallwith that with like resistance
ideas and ideas for how to getfrom now to this future that we

(13:00):
envisaged.
And we've built a model ofBoomTown, we've actually built a
model of the, of the, um.
The basin and we're gonna build, like, we're gonna invite people
to dream their dream boom town, what it would look like, and
we're gonna make littlecardboard models and put them in
the basin and create our dreamboom town.
And then we're gonna take it andpresent it at the end of the

(13:21):
festival, um, at the closingkind of ceremony thing.
So that's fun.
So that's what we're up to.
And it just feels like.
There's a thing that we talkabout in theater and falling
where if you are upset aboutstuff, things are bothering you,
rather than letting it affectyour life, you put it in the
play.
And so that's what we're doing.
We're putting it in the play.
And so that's what we've createdhere for the festival and it's

(13:46):
looking great.
Um, my team are amazing andthey've made the temple look
just stunning.
Our little coven temple and thenalso the basin model.
Um, my friend Max, who's a.
Uh, structural engineer has madethe basin out of contoured
layers of cardboard and has likestuck them all together and made

(14:09):
this contoured basin out ofcardboard that we're gonna build
the city on, which is justgenius.
I can't believe we did it.
It's so cool.
And, um, yeah, so, and thenwe're doing the opening ceremony
tomorrow where?
All of the priestesses, there'sfive of us, so two on the grand
central stage and three of us onthe Lions portal stage will
bless the festival with the fourelements and smudging it with

(14:33):
smoke and will open the festivalto the 60,000 people who will
all be there.
And then a big dancing music.
Extravaganza with fireworks, andthen that's the festival
opening.
So I'll be recording as we goalong and just capturing bits
and bobs from our adventureshere.
But it's all very exciting anduh, look forward to sharing the

(14:55):
weekend with you.
Then this is a one.
This is a one time performance.
I'm with you.
I'm with you.
It's a onetime performance, soit's like I have to retain all
the songs that I've done.
I write everything down and Ihave it around a little lanyard

(15:16):
on my neck and I check in'causeI forget it all.
As soon as I look at a person,I'm like, oh no.
I'm generally all right if Ihave to perform it more than
once, but it's a one time in it.
Then did you produce it?
You visit on Friday?
No, tonight, so, and then we'regonna go catch him and we're
gonna drag him to the OdysseyStreet.
Right.
Yeah, the local that's on mylineup as well.

(15:38):
Yeah, there you go.
Nervous Odyssey.
Just outside Grand Central.
Oh, okay.
So yeah.
Great.
Yeah, they gang.
So you are at the mini rig buson the bottom of the hippie
Highway bus.
And then I'll be like, oh, Ican, I can't.

(16:11):
What have we just done?
Something necessary and powerfuland right for this space.
Like the stage manager SMAupstairs, she was like, this is
one of the things I love so muchabout this.
I.
Opening ceremony is that it'sgot spirit and this is a place
of so much hedonism and the factthat you are bringing spirit and

(16:33):
you're reminding people to likeground into the elements and
take notice of themselves, theirbodies, their connections to
others.
Um, and the more I get to knowyou Jolie, and the more I've
been involved in this now fortwo years, it's like I'm just,
I'm starting to like fullyappreciate.

(16:56):
The power of this, and thisisn't theater.
I mean, everything is theater, but this isn't theater.
It's all theater.
It's all theater, yeah.
But it can be good theater or itcan be, yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, I wanted to say thatain't it Ain't Amra, but also I
love Amram.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, yeah, exactly.
You mum, it's like I love Amber.

(17:16):
Yeah, exactly.
It's, it's, it's about thearchetype.
The archetype energy needs toland and that's what makes
things good or not.
So if something, if you sees.
And you can feel it's corporate.
It's because it's got noarchetype.
It's got the archetype ofcorporate.
Mm.
But like the archetype ofspirit, if someone says it's got
spirit, it's because it feelslike there's something richer

(17:38):
happening.
Mm.
And, and that thing thatconnects us all that isn't, I
mean, I look straight ahead ofme and all I can see is plastic,
marquee metals, and like metalfences.
Mm-hmm.
Not that, not that.
Sometimes it's nice to have alittle bit of smoker mirrors,
isn't it?
Yeah.
Okay.
Look at the pretty stuff.

(17:59):
Yeah, I mean, of course it'sfive six.
I mean, you start with a smallfence, don't you?
You start with a little fenceand then it gets bigger and and
bigger, and then it's like bigmetal steel shield and Yeah.
It's not just a free open field.
No.
Like it would've been, probablywould've started however many
hundreds of thousands of yearsago where people were gathering

(18:19):
here then, which they were.
Thank you.
Good job guys.
Go.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Good, good fun.
You look nice and hot andsweaty.
Everyone's worked hard.
It's like it's over.
Surprisingly quickly, isn't it?
It's super quick.
That was well quick.
Yeah.
For 20 minutes as well.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Keep those going.

(18:40):
Minutes.
Are you, are you there for 20minutes?
No, you are there for the.
Yeah, you are.
20 minutes on stage or 15.
'cause we are up till five andyou guys come on and start
moving.
The first three minutes is youguys, then we come on.
So it's 21 minutes is full.
So eight minutes.
It's a lot of time to be moving.
Is that Yeah, like ferocity.
Physical.

(19:00):
Physical.
Uh, fact sort of one of thefounders of the festival.
Okay.
Hello?
Sorry I'm back with my witches.
I thought, Hey, I just wanted tointroduce you to Jay and Holly.

(19:20):
Hey Jay.
How are you?
Nice to meet you.
Hello.
Lovely.
Nice to meet you.
What's your name?
Jacob.
Jay.
Lovely.
Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet.
Brilliant performance.
Ah, thank you Jamie.
And you are Paul?
Paul, yeah.
Hello.
Lovely to meet you.
So Jacob Mil is the manager, like Jacob's, one of my.
Old friends and he build, doesthe build management the whole

(19:43):
stage.
Oh, wow.
A very clever boy.
So cool.
He's a very clever boy.
Love it.
Very calm and collected alltimes.
Never gets angry or stressed oranything.
Tell us about the people who arepraying then.
Well, yeah.
Okay.
So from what I know, they, they're up there somewhere
praying.
Are they there now?
They do it every year.
Yeah.
Well, yeah.
Apparently they come and theyjust sit there and they do, they

(20:04):
hold a vigil, have.
Their own openings.
So I'm not sure.
Actually I need to get Luke.
It is Luke from lawyer told meabout it.
You know, he was like, yeah, hewas like mad.
Like obviously it literally blewme away.
He was like chatting to theseother day.
It is a real thing.
Like definitely he's like, theysit on the hill and they fucking
pray for us every year and likeAre they local people?
Yeah.
Yeah.
They're local people.
Like, yeah.
Praying to like pray for oursouls.

(20:25):
Well just.
They protect us.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh yeah.
Nice.
Yeah.
To protect us because they'reworried about the situation and
it's like, yeah, that's amazing.
They've got our backs,basically.
That's so good.
Well, that's nice.
And then, you know, this is aland temple, right?
But this whole space is anneolithic land temple, and when
you actually look at it fromabove it, it looks like a
vagina.
I mean, it looks like a, wewe're in the wing.

(20:47):
Jacob's like, yeah, I get downwith that.
Inside.
Giant inside mother.
I'll be the last.
So it would've already.
Been naturally there, but youcan tell it's been landscaped,
but it was landscaped.
Thousands would be happy tohear.

(21:08):
Yeah.
They landscaped it and, andeverything we are doing here now
is what they were doing.
This was, this is what it wascreated for.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
This is, well, crane did likethe big whole war thing here
anyway.
Everyone was like, when theyreached the troops.
Is that, that was Me too Center.
It's a power center though,isn't it?
Yeah.
Often.
Um, like do feel the magic asmuch.

(21:29):
Yeah.
100.
So not the maddest thing with.
When,'cause I got asked to dothis three years ago.
Yeah.
By Meghan when she joined, um,in the theater department.
And um, she was like, oh yeah, there's this character we're
looking for called Ellen andwe're all looking for Ellen.
And I like looked at it.
And this is a lay line that runsup through the UK called the
Spine of Albion, which is a linedrawn with the ruler through the

(21:50):
sacred sight by a human.
Yeah.
But you then go dowsing and yousee what's there and there's two
energy lines that interweave, one's masculine and one's
feminine.
And the masculine line's calledBellus, the Sun God, and the
feminines called Ellen thegoddess of the ways.
And there we are.
Like at the face with everythingsaying, where's Ellen?
Where's Ellen?
I'm like, what?
She's here.
We're on a, we're on a, we're onthe line.
We're in a massive vagina.

(22:24):
It's weird you say herding.
'cause when, because I've beenworking at, not on my own, but
I've working like myself andmeeting lots of people here.
And when I got with you guys Iwas like, oh, we're.
Herding cats now.
And I felt like that kept comingup, but like, we're together.
Interesting.
We're together.
Yeah.
And it's like we we're togetherherding each other, like around
like waiting for each other.
'cause that's when you're at afestival, you do that, you, you

(22:45):
gang update yourself thing andlike come together and just walk
around and Yeah.
But it's how do we, so like,'cause that's a celebration of
nature, which is great andthat's what's happening.
Not nature, but just like thenature of what's happening.
Yeah.
Which is us here.
Doing the, um, festival andpeople coming together, but what

(23:06):
do we like the encroachment ofopportunists, making money out
of it, who are then killing it,who are killing what we're doing
in both, in all worlds, youknow?
So in the, in the sort of, um.
Bigger picture.
And then in the microcosm of, ofBoomTown that we need the money.
We, we, in a way, we also needthose people that, but it's just

(23:29):
how, how to keep the spiritalive when the corporations are
kind of crushing things.
Totally.
It's like a protective spell.
It could be a protector spell, but Yeah.
So I mean, it could be aprotective spell, although I
feel kind of inspiration.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It feels more actiony than Idefinitely have had the element
of fire coming up a lot beforeMay.

(23:50):
Well we are gonna do all four ofthe elements.
Maybe there is a protectionelement in it.
Maybe there's a protectionelement.
Maybe there's a, so you've gotthe ground.
What's protection?
Um, there an element wise, wouldyou I think maybe, I think, well
there'd be maybe elements in allof it.
What would you wanna borrow?
A black eyeliner.
Yes.
Thingy.
Okay.
So do you wanna do a spell that?

(24:11):
Um, well we, we work with thefour elements.
Yeah.
You've got Earth, so, um, it'slike cast when you're cast a
circles.
Yeah.
Should we all be but with the, with, yeah.
Maybe we should all do our ownspell.
Mm.
So with the Earth it's like.
What do we want to help supportthe earth with?
Also knowing that the earth'sgonna be fine without us.

(24:31):
Yeah.
But it's like, um, I mean, it,it, I always kind of get a bit,
like when it actually comes toit, I'm like, I, I was so, um,
receiving what's just happening.
Like what is, is what is.
Yeah.
If you get what I mean, it'slike, what am I gonna say to the
air?

(24:51):
Oh.
Shine more magnificently sopeople get how great you are.
It's like, fuck off.
She's already as magnificent.
Yeah, you're doing that.
Like you're already magnificentmaybe to thank a gratefulness
then.
Yeah, which is what I normallydo.
Yeah.
Thank you.
But yeah, it's like, ah, youknow what we should do when
we're up at the venue, we shouldpull a card, because I did this

(25:12):
before with Matthew Hopkinswhere.
Um, we'll pull a card for eachof the elements and it will be
an inspiration to each of us asto whatever we want it to be.
Because when I was doing thesisterhood play and we were
trying to work out what we weresaying to Matthew Hopkins, the
witch Finder General, it waslike, what are we doing?
Are we telling him to fuck up?
Yeah.
Like what are we gonna go to hisgrave and scream?
Like, what are we gonna do?
Oh, be like, haha, we made it.

(25:34):
Yeah.
And that's kind of more thedirection it went in.
We pulled a card'cause we didn'tknow what.
Uh, what to do.
We ended up putting cards forall our characters.
We pulled a card for him and,um, it was the Wheel of Fortune.
Yeah.
Wow.
Um, but in this particular deckthat this girl had, there was
women in between all the spokesand the women, like at the
bottom were in dark blue withdark hair hanging down, and they

(25:56):
looked like they were about tobe hung for witchcraft.
And then the ones at the topwere like, up like this with
their arms all up and it wasalready golden.
Wow.
And it was like, oh yeah.
And it was when Trump and BorisJohnson just got in.
Oh shit.
Yeah.
And it was like, this too shallpass.
Like this will not, and this Isuppose is the same for what's
happening now, is this too shallpass this sister.
Yeah.
And there's always the on thedark side of the cog.
Yeah.
But there's always the darklight in the light and the

(26:18):
light.
Dark in the dark.
Because when I was at SecretGarden Party and it was when
labor were in and mushrooms werelegal and everyone was having a
really lovely time.
And I just had this moment whereI knew like early two thousands,
the secret grand party.
Yeah.
But it's that famous likeBritish expression.
Yeah.
The.
Well, it's like, you know, theman is like, oh, my son has
died, but he, oh, I'm gonna getit wrong.

(26:38):
But it's basically like, thistoo shall pass.
Yeah.
So like, oh, you know, thisamazing thing happened.
Like yeah, but this too shallpass.
Capital pass.
It's terrible thing.
It's happened.
Yeah.
And if you think about likewhen, um, in the war when there
was.
The, um, horrific shit going onin Germany and Berlin and, and
you know, people trying to sneakpeople out.
Just the amazing heroic, but thebeautiful things that people do.

(27:02):
Yeah.
Yeah.
So this is what I'm saying aboutthe, the, the light be that dot
of white in the darkness.
So there's the angels in thedark and the, the devils in the
light.
The devils have got into thelight.
They've, they came into ourlight and they filled it up and
they're filling it up.
They're filling up the space, but we have to be the angel in
the dark.
Perfect.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, and, and actually youshine.

(27:24):
Those that shines brighter thanwhen it's all light and you've
just got this one dark spot.
Like it's easy to be light then.
And also I just feel likecurrently what appears to be the
light is actually really dark.
Yeah.
And the people who are steppingout and going this is wrong are
seen all these villains seen asvillains.
Yeah.
And it's actually with.
You know?
Yeah, I hear you.

(27:44):
Um, yeah.
Yeah.
Like, but that's because theywant to try and control that of
course.
Unfortunately.
Control the narrative and, andthe misinformation and the
propaganda and yeah.
And this morning I had in myhead as I was in the toilet, I'm
just here to shine my light.
And, and that was something Iwanted to say on stage Yeah.
Tonight.
Yeah.
But like, it is about comingwith light and love.

(28:07):
Yeah.
And I know there's otherfeelings and emotions involved,
but it's the way we Yeah.
Exactly.
Put it out.
I dunno.
Yeah, no, I agree with you.
Yeah.
It's, you've beat a light.
There's too much.
Yeah.
But not bad energy, but there'stoo much sort of darkness.
Yeah, totally.
And fear.
Like there's a lot of fear inthe world, which makes people

(28:29):
act in strange, in various awfulways, you know?
And it's being cultivated bypower.
'cause it controls people.

(28:56):
If you enjoy this podcast, thenplease consider supporting me on
Patreon.
This is patreon.com/joly Rose.
I am dreaming of the day thatthis is my full-time job and I
hope that this is something thatI am able to work towards the.

(29:18):
Difficulties of living on anisland where there isn't a huge
number of people to be theaudience and to share
experiences and events with.
It means that I can once a yearput on a festival and possibly I
could once a year put on a show, but it's not the same as when I
was living in Brighton or livingin the UK where I could just put
things on and do thingsconstantly and get funding from

(29:40):
the Arts Council and just livethe life of an artist, which
I've managed to do for the last20 years and I'm very proud of.
But now I've moved here and itwas really important to me.
To make this shift, like I movedto be more in nature and more in
the land.
I shifted into hopefullywriting, but being more in
nature and being in this amazingspace where I don't need to be

(30:03):
able to drive'cause there are nocars.
The island is only one mile wideand three miles long.
And for me to be able to connectwith audiences and connect with
people online rather thanphysically, I was on the road
all the time and moving aroundall the time and going to
meetings constantly and just mycarbon footprint and.
Hecticness was off the chartsand I didn't want to go back to

(30:26):
that life as well.
Like it felt like we learnedsomething from the lockdown,
which was to slow down and tolive differently and I've then
found myself in this completelydifferent reality doing that,
and I want to.
Stick with it.
I want to keep, keep to still bean artist, but in this space,

(30:48):
which is a completely isolatedisland, miles away from
everybody else, but with thepower of the internet.
And This is work that I'm hopingnourishes you and gives you some
sort of spiritual solace andstrength and nourishment.
And if you feel like it is doingthat, then.
If you are up for helping me toliterally eat and be able to pay

(31:12):
my rent and, buy new equipment,I'm not happy with the equipment
I've got.
I'd be amazing to be able to payan editor one day'cause it takes
me so long to do.
I'm doing all of the, I'm doingeverything on this and I'm
learning as I go along.
So if you are able to help methe first tier of the Patreon is
just three pound a month, whichis, the same as you buying me a

(31:34):
coffee to say thank you.
That would be amazing if youfeel like you would.
Consider doing that.
And then if you do the secondtier, which is nine pound a
month, then for that you alsoget to see the videos of the
podcast and any other free bitsof, stuff that I get to share
and discounts on courses andthings like that.

(31:54):
And mainly a huge amount ofappreciation for me and I do
appreciate so much the peoplewho are already helping me.
Thank you to my Patreons.
I can't say how much it means tome that you are supporting me.
Thank you.
And if you are up for it and youlike this podcast, then please
vote for it in the Listeners'Choice Awards in the British

(32:16):
Podcast Awards.
So yeah, go over to the BritishPodcast Awards.
You literally type in nonsensein the chaos in the listener's
choice section, and it'll comeup and you vote for it, and then
you just say, reply to theconfirmation email.
And then that will go throughand it would be great if you did
do that.
I would really appreciate it.
That would be amazing.
So that's something you can do.

(32:37):
And yeah.
Otherwise just enjoy.
Just to let you know about someof the things that I do that you
can.
Come and take part in is themoon ceremonies that I do every
fortnight.
If you want to join these, they're free and they're over
zoom and all you have to do isfollow on Facebook or Instagram,
you'll see the links.
I put them up.

(32:58):
Every fortnight and you justcome along and they're really
nourishing, beautiful spaces um,I'll soon be going on the
pilgrimage across the uk, uh,which will be for the whole of
September and October, and ifyou.
Would like to find out wherewe'll be and are interested in
hosting a performance of Georgeand the Dragon Mama's play, or

(33:21):
maybe coming and walking for aday or two, or just generally
following what we're doing.
Then you can follow it at careerarts at Instagram and Facebook.
So that's K-R-I-Y-A-A-R-T-S.
And then yeah, if you go on to.
Either of them.
It's got the dates on there as apost and just see where we are

(33:43):
and see if we might be passingyour neck of the woods.
But yeah, otherwise on with theshow.
I wonder what magic they'recreating in the back because
Yeah.
Seems the space to do it.
Yeah.

(34:03):
Magic in the dark.
Once you're in the dark, youjust sit there starting to like,
bro trouble.
God, this was so packed lastnight because I came in with a
vehicle and their peopleeverywhere.
It was.
Nuts.
Yeah.
Like literally piles of peoplejust crossing this bit and these

(34:27):
guys like leading you through.
They're like one by one.
Oh, that's, and then we got tomidnight and I was like, right,
ready to go back or go park thevan up.
So go get the, the girls in themorning and they were like, oh,
it's egress.
There's a complete, like noone's allowed to move in
vehicles.
Oh.
So I had to wait.
I'm swimming, I'm swimming.

(34:48):
Yeah.
No, no movement.
And as I got in the van and.
Drove up to the security.
I was like, shall I just waithere?
And then the radio call camethrough and it said, egress is
now over vehicle movement can beresumed.
And I was ready to go and I waslike, off we go then.
A little bit of magic there.
Excellent.
So egress just being stopped atthat stop because everyone's
flowing out.

(35:08):
Like there's, um, a bottleneck.
You know, like everyone's tryingto get out of the exits back to
their camp or'cause all themusic stopped.
Finished.
Yeah.
Right.
So it's like a peak time.
They have to, um.
Manage the movement.
So they'll plan like the artiststhat I think at different times.
Yeah, exactly.

(35:29):
Stagger that.
But also like, I think this iswhy they do the opening ceremony
on Grand Central and onlandscape.
'cause if you to get, everyonewould want to come so they
spread it out between the twostages.
Really good moves.
Yeah.
But last year it was better.
They had this really good soundmanagement in where every stage
was designed with angles like sothat.

(35:51):
There wasn't a sound clash, butI don't think they've done it
this year and there is thesound.
Why would we not do it again?
I dunno.
I think the technology that theyused and everything was quite, I
wonder if it probably cost a lotand And they've changed all the
venues around.
Yeah.
They've moved it so we can getthrough this.

(36:11):
So what I think I'll do is gothrough, yeah.
As long as we've got, we've gotour eyes down.
Yeah.
We're going through here.
I saw him yesterday.
This.
Hey mate, I'm dropping some ofthe performers at Grand Central,
so if I can drop them here, canI carry on through to, so can I
turn around and carry on backround?
Yeah.
I mean, I shouldn't really, I'lldrop, I'll drop them here, then

(36:33):
I can drop the lady through, butI shouldn't be, and I'll come
back out and Okay, why notShirley?
I'm like, why not?
Why not?
Can you?
It looks like you can drivethrough there.
Yeah.
I'm so rebellious.
I'm like, I can do that.
I'm gonna do that.
I know I will do.
That.
Should we just go straight down?
Yep.

(36:53):
I'm gonna do that.
Yeah.
Cool.
Unless you go stop that van.
The artist buses are allowed tocome down here and that's
essentially what we are.
Yeah, and we drove that way theother day, didn't we?
Yeah, right.

(37:17):
I'll just stop.
Guys have no idea.
There we go.
Your, your alarm was lovely.
Oh, the ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
That was very, very soothing.
It doesn't really wake you up,does it?

(37:39):
It's like a more gentle, okay.
You all right.
Good luck.
Have an amazing show.
Yeah, you too.
See you on the other side one.
We'll see.
You will Rfu.
Afterwards, I dunno what we'lldo, but it'll one or the other.
Break a leg.
You two asked for us to, youenjoy.
It Enjoy yourselves.

(37:59):
Ladies.
Enjoy it.
Eat it.
Yeah.
See you later.
Cheer.
Or sacred profane.

(38:23):
Pardon?
Profane, uh, profane.
Fine.
Prone.
Pro.
Profane.
Profane is fine.
So breathe in.
So first of all, I just wannasay a fucking huge thank you to

(38:44):
everyone.
Thank you for all your hardwork.
This is looking stunning andit's such a team effort for us
to know that we are being heldand secured and taken care of by
you.
And it's make, it just makes allthe difference.
It really does.
It just, it's a real security.
So thank you so much for beingsuch awesome security blankets.
Making us feel safe and held Sohuge.

(39:07):
Thank you for that.
It looks incredible.
This is the best it's ever been.
We've gone up a level.
It is amazing.
And uh, yeah, we're gonna weavesome proper magic here this
weekend.
So we've got three days to keepusing the energy that we built
in the ceremony this morning andto just fucking pop this reality

(39:29):
onto a different timeline.
We've got a portal that we'veopened.
It is a.
Eight, eight.
It is the Lionsgate portal.
This is when Sirius, the dogstar, rises up and lines up in
the stars of, of what the, um,pyramids are aligned with.
So this is when the pyramidswere built to be aligned with
what we are in today.
And that's the portal that'sopen and it's the highest magic

(39:50):
day and the next 40 days of thehighest magic days that you
have.
And we are doing this work witha full moon, which doesn't
always happen on an eightportal, and it's an Aquarius
full Moon and Pluto's inAquarius.
That doesn't normally happen.
Literally, there is more magichappening in the universe than
there has ever been before inour lifetime and will be in our
lifetime.

(40:11):
So we are gonna use all of thatto make this reality something
fucking mega and exciting andenjoyable.
And at Glasbury this year, I sawthis other place, and the other
place was like an Escherpainting, and it was fire and it
was gold, and there was noseparation.
Nothing was separated.

(40:31):
It was 3D, but every.
Think was connected and therewas no one or need or desire
because everything was connectedand it was lovely.
But what you have here is thisexperience of separation, which
means we get to feel, we get tofuck, we get to fight, we get to
have all these experiences'causewe're separate.
When we die, we go back to that.
We'll be back to this veryorganized, connected, no needs,

(40:53):
no wants place, which iswonderful.
But we are here having a livedmortal experience.
We've got bodies, we've gotpain, we've got all of the shit
that goes with being.
Mortal and we are gonna be herefor a short period of time.
So we do fucking everything wecan with it and use our bodies
any way we can and celebrate thegreatest instrument you'll ever
own.

(41:13):
So we are gonna be weavingmagic, and we're gonna pull a
card to see what the universeis, uh, inviting us to work with
over this next few days.
So we'll each take it and thenwe'll all look at them together.
Got one.

(41:33):
There's the full.
Right.
Let's see what we got.
so we'll go round in the order.
What's yours?
Uh, the high priestess.
The high priest.
Nice there.
She's excellent.
What have you got Holly?
I got the chariot.
The chariot.

(41:55):
Amazing.
Excellent.
Seven of Pentacles.
Seven of Pentacles.
So seven is the number of Venus, the goddess, and um, it's the
number of prosperity andabundance and just absolute
like, celebration of everythingthat's physically happening.
It's just, yeah, seven's thenumber of creativity and, and

(42:16):
money and Yeah, but it'sabundance.
Yeah.
What have you got?
The two are swords.
This is Tru.
So this is about finding truthsupporting people.
To make friends and support eachother.
So it's the twin.
It's a bit like the twin trailthat we did the first year.
It's the twin effect of theinner and the outer.
We create our enemies because weare all one.

(42:38):
So it's that feeling ofseparation.
It's how to come together andYeah.
Connect with each other.
So it's, it's a spiritual gift.
The six, six app, Pentacles sixand seven.
So six is, uh.
The number of, it's the numberof prosperity.

(42:59):
So this is like more, um, Venusenergy, whereas six is like, I
mean, it's prosperity more thananything.
So if you wanna like, createjust Yeah.
Absolute prosperity.
The emperor.
The what?
The emperor em wicked.
We've got the priestess and theemperor on the door.
The Emperor's Aries energy.

(43:20):
It's full fire.
It's like absolute sovereigntyis fully being in your power.
Yeah.
Really?
I got the page of wands.
The page of wands.
So the wands is air.
It's Aquarius.
It's fire, isn't it?
Is it Fire?
Isn't swords?
Oh yeah.
Okay.
Sorry.
Yeah.
So it's the, yeah, it's thefire.

(43:41):
So the page of, yeah.
Yeah.
We didn't, it was upside downthough.
No, we don't do upside down.
We don't do upside down.
Yeah.
No one needs that.
Cool.
Yeah.
So that's the nice and fast andfurious Yeah.
Messenger.
And he's, he's very, um, emperorenergy as well.
Same sort of kind of vibe.

(44:03):
I got five principles, the fiveLes.
Wow.
So five is the number of Mars.
So that's like, um, like that'sactually kind of just been
happening.
Mars and Libra, which is, um,um, fire and air.
That means that there's gonna bequite a lot of like a
boisterousness.
Just to give people a heads up,there's fire in Libra is like

(44:24):
someone blowing onto a fire.
So that can make things quiteboisterous.
Um, but this is the fire ofPentacle.
So this is about what we'regonna do, what we're gonna make
happen in the world, likeputting our action and energy
into the earth.
Uh, nine swords, nine of swords.
So the sword, the Night, nightKnight.
Oh, the Knight of Swords.
So this is more like AquariusEnergy.

(44:45):
So this is cutting through.
He's like a hover fly.
So he's like literally justflying through the air with his
idea.
It so it's like proper, it's abit like the room that you keep
not getting, like being reallyclear and direct and just like,
like shooting a bow and arrow.
Yeah.
That's what that Yeah, yeah,yeah.
Pit the car and not the roomkeeps disappearing it.

(45:06):
It's what, it's the thing foryou to be working with.
And aj?
Uh, seven of cups.
Seven of cups.
Well, that's a lovely sexyVenus.
Watery number seven.
It's the Venus number.
And it's the, the sign of cupsand love and yeah.
Yeah.
That's brilliant.
And then I've got justice.

(45:29):
Come on.
Resistance.
We want justice.
We want justice in this world.
So remember we could put them inthe middle and maybe we could
take photo.
It's, it's so fucking funny.
Last year I was really chattedon the Saturday or something and

(45:51):
I, I went, I think it wasSaturday last year, the
Lionsgate port.
And I went into my mate'scaravan and I was like, guys,
it's the landscape portal.
It's time to open up your mindManifesto dreams.
And I messaged Luke, who's theorganizer here.
Next thing you know, our stageis now called Lionsgate.
Cool.
And I was like, did I plan aseed?
Yeah, you, but I wasted and allmy mates were going, shut up

(46:13):
Lou.
And I'm going, is Lionsgateportal guy?
Yeah.
You know, but.
It up and they're like, what isshe going on?
And I'm like, made it happen.
That's so cool.
So you, what's cool about thisis it is the eighth or the
eighth.
It's the, it is, it's um, fullmoon.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
So it's, it's the full moon ofAquarius it in the age of
Aquarius.

(46:33):
Yeah.
We're in Leo season and thisportal has opened up It's align.
Yeah.
And it's showing a shit future, which isn't true because we are
gonna be saying we've seen abetter future.
Yeah.
I can't wait to see what happensafter this.
Yeah.
I reckon it's gonna be.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We're doing a spell.
So when we were on the stagethis morning, we're doing a
spell and we're sending thatout.

(46:53):
So yeah, think about each whatyou are saying of us.
So I will shout, oh, this wassomething that was a bit
different from what I had beendoing before.
I will shout.
Um, hell and welcome.
Yeah, I wasn't saying that so Iwas going I Welcome in the
guidance East water.
Um, I, I'll, I'll shout hail andwelcome.
And that's when you know tochange.
Change.
Yeah.
So I'll do, can we say, welcometo, I was saying Welcome.

(47:14):
You then say hail and welcomeback.
Hail and welcome.
Hail.
Welcome.
It just feels more powerful whenyou say that.
Yeah.
So I'll, I'll go.
So we welcome in the guidance ofthe east hail and welcome.
And then you go hail andwelcome.
And then we change.
And then we do the next one.
Yeah, that's good.
So I'll shout that.
That'll be the only bit, I'llshout.
Mm.
What, do you know what spellyou're gonna do?
Or do you keep it secret ifyou're gonna I, I channel it.

(47:35):
Yeah.
I always channel.
Yeah.
We always channel.
I've got all these bits thatwe've got.
We've got the cards, got thelines.
Yeah.
But it'll be like what comesthrough at that moment in time.
Mm-hmm.
I feel like putting the power inthe.
Into the, um, what we'recreating the future thing.
Yeah.
So that it really does ha comeinto effect next year where
like, change things for us.
Yeah.
This is it.
Do what?

(47:55):
Do what's working in you.
'cause the universe is workingin you as itself, in whatever
way it is.
So whatever's coming through foryou, use that and yeah, we just
see what happens.
Yes.
See what wills we set in motion.
Ladies.

(48:23):
There's Ninja.
Oh yeah.
That's in Bja, the ninja.
I was gonna call him Ninja, theNinja.
Catch him if you can.
Did you manage to catch him?
He, you'd already been, he'dalready obviously not.
Do you know what I mean?
You were fucking God.
I didn't get caught.
What did I tell you?
Like I told you.
I know you, I, you know, andespecially as you said you were
gonna try and catch me, Ithought I'd make it even harder.

(48:45):
I know I'd make an extra effort.
He appeared before I'd even gotthere and I said to tra and he's
like, oh, he's been in and gothis T-shirt and got his bandana.
And I was like, oh.
So already been there.
I've still got the grand down.
I can see it.
Like, is that the Odyssey one?
Yeah.
Yeah, it's somewhere in there.
I amongst all of my breathingequipment, but yeah.

(49:06):
Is.
It's your the smile, the, that'syour logo.
You're like, beautiful.
I love smiling.
Isn't it?
Know you've got a big one.
Well, you know, I mean, itdoesn't wanna brag.
It's not my fault.
It's just that I was born withthis.
She totally didn't get thatrage, isn't, I was like, no, he
has got a big smile.

(49:27):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's not what you said.
All she said.
I'm not saying nothing.
I, you've said all the.
That's all you in your sense, that was not from you.
Yeah, I didn't do nothing.
You just, just set it up.
It's an easy home run in it.
You can't help but knock it down'cause they're so big.

(49:59):
Classic Lou just said in, justgot a big one.
And you've probably got itrecorded as well.
Yes, I have.
Oh yeah.
L.
LL.
Fuck.
Yeah.
I'm looking forward to hearingyour editing.

(50:26):
So that was BoomTown.
I captured enough bits and bobsthere for you to get a flavor of
what the overall festivalexperience was like.
And yeah, some of the funnymoments and highlights that
happened throughout the weekend.
We had one other thing which didhappen that I did capture, um,

(50:47):
in video form and I was gonnarip the audio from it.
But unfortunately my friendFran, my darling dearest friend
Fran, uh, she lost her phone atBoomTown, thankfully, because
BoomTown's a really lovelyfestival and people there are
generally nice and supportiveand helpful.

(51:07):
The phone has been located, itis currently making its way to
Scotland.
Where the lost property is beingsorted, and then it's gonna get
posted to everyone, so it'sgonna come back to us.
Uh, but, uh, yeah, she was oursocial media person and so the
videos of the opening ceremonyand, uh, this other moment that
I will tell you aboutmomentarily, uh, were all

(51:28):
captured on Fran's phone.
And then she lost it.
So I lost her.
But luckily it's all coming backto us, which is really exciting.
But the moment she managed tocapture is Rob Hopkins coming to
visit the.
Luna Cove, um, temple, which wasextremely exciting because what
we did this year is theresistance and uh, also the

(51:50):
whole of BoomTown last year.
We're all based on his book fromwhat is To What If, and it's a
fantastic book.
Rob Hopkins is responsible fortransition towns, which.
Um, what's the name of the town?
Totnes.
Totnes is a transition town.
Um, they've fully taken on his,uh, methodology, um, but he came

(52:15):
up with the idea of developingor creating cardboard.
Creating cardboard versions ofcities where you create the
future, like a dream future forthe city.
And so that's what we did atBoomTown, where we, uh, I mean
Max was incredible.
The the geographical strata mapthat he made of the BoomTown

(52:37):
Basin was absolutely brilliant.
And then, yeah, everyone whocame in, we showed them our time
machine.
We told them the story, and wegot'em to think about what they
wanted to see in the future.
And then they made little thingsand put them in the basin.
And then we gifted the basin to.
Luke and the organizers ofBoomTown Maya and um, Sophie and

(53:01):
the gang.
And so possibly, hopefully, fingers crossed, elements of the
design might get incorporatedinto next year's festival.
And what was mad and hilariousis that.
When we went to the closingceremony, we never know what
next year's chapter is going tobe until we get to the closing

(53:21):
ceremony.
And I believe that theysometimes have different
alternative, um, alternativeendings and they don't know
necessarily until the festivalunfolds which ending they're
gonna go for.
Um, I believe that to be true.
I dunno if that's definitelytrue.
But anyway, the chapter for nextyear was radical Redesign, and

(53:42):
we all messaged Luke through LouMinnie, who was part of the
priestesses this year.
He, who you heard, um.
Saying Ninja had a big one.
Um, she is really good friendswith Luke, and so she messaged
the photos of the model thatwe'd made.
And we also had a board on thewall that was like, um, yeah,

(54:02):
like those murder mystery boardswhere you try and figure out
the, who'd done it and like a,yeah, kind of adding up the
evidence with bits of string, like connecting things and
stuff.
And we had.
Um, in the left hand corner atthe bottom, it said, I'm so
angry.
And then in the top right cornerit said, fuck Yeah.
And so we were asking the, uh,the festival goers as they came
round.

(54:23):
How do we get from, I'm so angryto Fuck.
Yeah.
And they were adding things andwe added that all on there and
made a, a mind map of, uh, howwe would get from one to the
other and.
Yeah, all of that we sent toLuke, so we gifted that all to
the festival and gifted it toLuke and said, yeah, you know,
so maybe, hopefully some of thatwill get incorporated into next
year's festival.
We also all have loads of ideasthat we would like to weave in,

(54:46):
so we're gonna be a lot moreproactive with getting involved
in the storyline next year and,uh, supporting that to develop.
And it was so cool to meet RobHopkins.
I mean, what an honor.
And he came around the space andlooked at everything and uh, was
very excited to see what we'vebeen doing.
So that was just brilliant.
So yeah, absolutely amazing.
It was always wonderful when theperson who's inspired your work

(55:09):
comes and sees what you'redoing.
That's, that's an absolute joy.
So it was a huge, a hugesuccess.
We had a lovely time.
People got a lot out of it, Ithink.
Um.
Our characters and our rolereally evolved in what we were
doing and, and yeah, it is areally important metaphor and it
just feels like it's such animportant spell.

(55:29):
It is a spell.
I believe in the magic that wewove together as a collective,
um, both as the coven and as thefestival and, and just the
influence that we've had onpeople's minds, young people's
minds.
It occurred to me as well thatit's a much more working class
festival than Glastonbury,which.
Speaks to me as a person.

(55:51):
yeah, I'm really proud of whatwe achieved and I, I just, so
amazing.
And then I went straight fromBoomTown to Kentwell, so next
week's.
Podcast will be capturing theweek that I had at Kentwell,
which was just as mad and funand magical as, uh, the week I
had in BoomTown from one realityto another.

(56:12):
I had a moment where I was satin the toilet at Kentwell and my
brain was literally just notshort circuiting, but like, what
is going on?
What is going on?
And I just was like, you do itto yourself, darling.
Yeah, you make, you make yourown reality as weird as this.
And then I'm back in sarc andliterally the, the moment I got
off the boat, I was straightinto a policy and finance

(56:34):
meeting.
And then we had a chief policemeeting tonight and so like an
actual full blown governmentmeeting tonight.
It's just, yeah, madness.
Absolute madness.
But anyway, I will be sharingKentwell Hall with you next week
and the tutor, the world of thetutors.
Um, but that was.
Me from BoomTown.
So thank you so much forlistening, and as you'll see the
anon.
