Today's message is about running the spiritual race with the end in mind. Anyone that has put their faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior is running a spiritual race. In this race their will be challenges, obstacles, disappointments, and even defeats but there are several things we can do to prepare in advance to be successful.
Throughout the Gospels, Jesus often revealed the heart of God over a meal. At tables, Jesus taught truth, extended grace, rebuked hypocrisy, offered forgiveness and redefined who belongs in God’s family. When Jesus accepts Levi’s invitation to dine with tax collectors and sinners, He extends grace and belonging to those society had pushed aside. Today we will be looking at the OT story of Elijah and the supernatural showdown at Mount Caramel with all of Israel and King Ahab.
More specifically, we will be learning how God speaks to His people. The challenge we face today, is there are many voices pulling for our attention, allegiance, and our focus and it can be difficult to differentiate between those voices and God'c voice.
