revival theater, from its 1929debut to its starring role in
marion virginia's entertainmentscene.
Guiding us through this journeyis the man in the spotlight,
our executive director, directorBob Watkins.
Speaker 2 (00:26):

century-old theater that's seenit all, From silent films to
live performances, the LincolnTheater is the place to be.
Join us as we chat with BobWatkins, executive director of
the Lincoln Theater, and findout exactly how you can get your
hands-on tickets to the bestseats in the house.
Welcome back everybody.
(00:51):
I'm Skip Mauney, co-host slashproducer, back in the studio
with Executive Director BobWatkins.
Bob, how's it going?
It's going good.
How are you doing, Skip?
I'm doing just fine, doing justfine.
The question of this episode ishow exactly do the general
public get tickets for events atthe Lincoln Theater?
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Yeah, there's a
couple different ways.
One we do have a box officehere in Main Street and Marion
at Lola's at the Lincoln.
So you just come right intoLola's and some of the box
office girls will be able to getyou taken care of with some
tickets there.
If you want to talk to themface to face and come in and
take a look around the theaterand pick which CQ would like to
(01:28):
have, the most popular ways isjust our webpage, because we
have all of our performances onour webpage with the ticket
links to them, and that is theat the wwwthelincolnorg.
So the Lincolnorg is theeasiest way for people to get
tickets.
You can pick and choose andit'll give you the graph of the
(01:49):
theater.
You can pick and choose whichlocation you want to be in the
theater for that it provides acouple of different options to
where you can either print thetickets at home, so you'll have
a physical ticket when you comein for the show, or you can go
ahead and have it as a will calland somebody in the box office
(02:10):
will go ahead and get thatprinted for you and have it
ready for you to pick up whenyou come in for the performance.
On Facebook.
All of the events that we poston Facebook are all tied to our
ticket service also.
So, looking at us on Facebookand if you see an event there,
we are always going to have aticket link to that as well, to
where you can secure yourtickets through Facebook.
Different options there.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Very good.
I know a lot of bigger venuesoffer VIP packages where you get
special perks.
Is that the case with theLincoln Theater?
Do you guys do anything likethat?
Speaker 3 (02:38):
We do have some VIP
performances to, where we'll
have VIP seating.
Up in the front.
We've got some tables andchairs that we'll put out for
VIP patrons.
They'll also usually get aspecial meet and greet with the
performers in the green roomprior to the show so they can
get some selfies taken with theperformers and everything, and
then we also provide a littlegoodie package of refreshments
(03:01):
and concessions for them duringthe show.
So, yeah, there is a VIPpackage there.
And then we're also in theprocess of developing more of a
VIP membership to where, ifthere's a certain level of
donation, then the patron wouldthen receive early access to
ticket purchasing and thingslike that.
So we're in the process ofworking that out and hopefully
(03:24):
going to roll that out by theend of this year.
We'll have it run in full forcein 2025.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Very good.
Awesome, sounds good.
Not that I consider myself aVIP or anything.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Oh sure you are Skip.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Yeah, right, right.
I don't expect the red carpetto be rolled out when I'm there,
so are there any special perksor discounts for purchasing
tickets early, like free popcorn, surprise appearance from a
ghost at Theater Pass, that sortof?
Speaker 3 (03:52):
thing.
A lot of that depends on theperformance, because we do some
of our own performances to wherewe purchase them and then we
also have some rentals that comein.
The rentals were kind ofhandcuffed to the ticket pricing
that they would like to have.
So the most recent performancewe did was a Beatles tribute and
that did have a pre-sale promocode on the webpage.
(04:15):
I think it was like $5 off ofthe ticket there for the promo
codes.
And that VIP package that I'mputting together is going to
have early access to where theywould get a $5 discount on
ticket purchases if theypurchased it within that first
two weeks of having it posted.
Yeah, there are going to besome VIP perks for rates and
(04:36):
discounts and everything forthose ticket prices.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
So you mentioned the
website, Facebook, the box
office.
Can people still buy tickets atthe door the night of the show,
or is that a bad idea?
Oh no, absolutely.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Our box office is
going to be staffed, so if you
didn't get your ticket prior tothe show and we still have
tickets available, you can goahead and stop in at the box
office and somebody down therewill be able to get you taken
care of with a quick ticket andget you into the show with ease.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
I like to plan ahead,
and even though it's exciting
to buy tickets at the door, itwould really not be good to get
there and say sorry, we're soldout.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
They can also call
because our box office staff.
They'll be able to take thephone calls and they can go
ahead and do an over the phonepurchase as well.
Go ahead and do anover-the-phone purchase as well.
So if they wanted to call priorto the show, like that day of
the show, call in and say, hey,do you have some tickets, Can I
get some?
And then they just come in andpick them up.
That works perfectly too.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
We'll do whatever we
can to get somebody in those
seats.
So I know that the building, you're 95 years old, you're the
Lincoln Theater.
But if I had a time machine andI wanted to book for the
lincoln theater's 100thcentennial celebration concert
whatever you're planning ondoing, which I'm sure is that
huge can I reserve my seat now,or would I be able to do that in
advance?
Speaker 3 (05:58):
uh, well, that's
actually a great idea.
I hadn't even thought of thatyet, skip, but uh, I do think
that that is something that wemight be able to go ahead and
pursue as we start doing someplanning for the upcoming events
and those VIP packages as well.
That's definitely something, especially now that you provided
(06:18):
me that great idea.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
So I'm glad I can be
of some use anyway.
Well, bob, appreciate your timethis morning, love what you're
doing and keep doing what you'redoing, and we will see you in
the next episode.
Great Thanks, you take care.
