Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, listeners, I cannot thank you enough for tuning in.
It's time for another episode of the Paranormal Activities Podcast,
a show dedicated to all those spooks and ghouls and
goblins and the things that go bump in the night.
You know, those things that make your hair stand up
on the back of your neck and your skin crawl,
that eerie feeling like somebody is watching you. They probably are.

(00:27):
You should be aware. Today's episode is a continuation of
last week's episode that we dove into the wild world
of demonic possessions. It was too much to fit into
a single episode. We covered the ancient beliefs of demons.

(00:52):
We talked about medieval Christian demonology. We talked about Hindoos, Buddhists,
and other views. We even classified demons. We talked about
some general signs and symptoms of possession. We talked about

(01:13):
exorcism practices as well. You got to get rid of
your demons. We even talked about some famous exorcism cases.
For today's episode, we're going to continue with that list.
If you didn't catch last week's episode, you'll want to
go back and catch it out. You missed a lot

(01:34):
and without any further ado in two thousand and five.
The Tanaiku exorcism was one of the most controversial exorcism
cases in recent history. The Tanaiku exorcism took place in
a rural village in Romania. The victim, Marianna Pappadai, was

(01:57):
a twenty three year old woman diagnosed with schizophrenia. She
had been living in a covet and was believed to
be possessed by demons. After exhibiting erratic behavior, Father Daniel

(02:19):
and several nuns performed an exorcism that lasted for four days.
The ritual involved restraining the woman to a bed, fasting
and prayer to expel the demon. She was reportedly subjected
to physical abuse during the exorcism, including being beaten and

(02:43):
denied water. Tragically, Marianna papaday died during the exorcism from
dehydration and starvation. This case led to a criminal investtigation,
and Father Daniel and several nuns were sentenced to prison

(03:04):
for manslaughter. The case raised serious ethical questions about the
practice of exorcism, particularly in modern times. In nineteen oh six,
the exorcism of Clara Germania, Germania was a sixteen year

(03:29):
old South African girl who was allegedly possessed by a
demon after making a pact with the devil. She was
a devout Catholic before the possession. Her symptoms included superhuman strength,
speaking in tongues, and blasphemy. The exorcism was performed by

(03:54):
a group of priests in South Africa. Clara was reportedly spitting, screaming,
and frothing at the mouth. She was able to levitate
off the ground, speaking languages that were completely unknown to her.

(04:14):
The exorcism lasted for several weeks and included several stages. Eventually,
Clara was freed from the possession, but details remained largely anecdotal.
The case was documented in Catholic circles as a remarkable
example of demonic possession and exorcism. Let's take a look

(04:41):
at some notable exorcists our true rock stars, in no
particular order. Saint Francis Assisi lived from eleven eighty one
to twelve twenty six. He was known for casting out

(05:03):
demons through prayer and fasting. Legend states he exercised a
possessed man in Ariso, Italy. Saint Catherine of Sienna, who
lived from thirteen forty seven to thirteen eighty was famous

(05:24):
for confronting and driving out demons. She reportedly performed exorcisms
by invoking Christ's name. Saint Vincent fer lived from thirteen
fifty to fourteen nineteen. He was a Dominican friar who

(05:50):
was credited for multiple exorcisms. H used prayer and the
Cross to cast out evil spirits. Geroyamo savanrola I pronounced
that perfectly lived from fourteen fifty two to fourteen ninety eight.

(06:12):
He was an Italian priest and reformer who performed exorcisms.
His exorcisms were known for their intensity, often invoking divine wrath.
Pope Leo the Eighth lived from eighteen ten to nineteen

(06:33):
o three, quite an old age for those years. Pope
Leo was the author of the Prayer to Saint Michael
the Archangel, a famous exorcistic prayer. He was believed to

(06:54):
have had a vision of demonic forces attacking the church.
Father Gabriel a morph who lived from nineteen twenty five
to twenty sixteen, was the Vatican's chief exorcist for over

(07:15):
thirty years. He performed over one hundred thousand exorcisms in
his lifetime. He was the founder of the International Association
of Exorcists in nineteen ninety and was famous for documenting

(07:36):
real cases of possession and criticizing modern skepticism. Father Gabriel
wrote An Exorcist Tells His Story and An Exorcist More Stories.
Father Malichi Martin who lived from nineteen twenty one to

(07:56):
nineteen ninety nine was a former juicuit priest, thelogian, and exorcist.
He claimed to have first hand knowledge of high level
Vatican exorcisms. He was a bit of a controversial figure,
known for revealing alleged church secrets. He wrote Hostage to

(08:21):
the Devil, one of the most famous books on exorcisms.
Next up Theophilus Wrestlinger, who lived from eighteen sixty eight
in nineteen forty one. He was a German American monk
and exorcist, as most famous for his nineteen twenty eight
exorcism of Emma Schmidt, one of the most documented cases

(08:45):
of possession in the US. The exorcism lasted for twenty
three days and was performed in a covent in Earling, Iowa.
Witnesses reported supernatural phenomena, including the victim speaking in multiple
voices and vomiting on natural substances. Bishop Manuel Acuna lives

(09:12):
in modern day Argentina is a Lutheran exorcist known for
performing televised exorcisms. He claims to have performed hundreds of
exorcisms on people suffering from possessions. He uses both Catholic
and Protestant methods. Might as well be versatile. You're getting

(09:33):
rid of demons. Father Jose Antonio born in nineteen sixty
eight is a Spanish exorcist. He's a modern day Catholic
priest and trained exorcist theologian. He wrote Suma Demonica, a
theological treatisy on demonology and exorcisms. He advocates for scientific

(09:58):
and theological evaluation before declaring a possession case. Unfortunately, folks,
that's all the time that we've got for today's episode
of the Paranormal Activities podcast. I hope you've enjoyed this episode,
and until next time. I can't thank you enough for listening.
Until then, look underneath your bed before you turn out

(10:21):
the lights, And until next time,
